Big beautiful park with lots to do and plenty of parking. There's basketball courts, running track, exercise stations, tennis courts, softball field, tons of space, a l lake with ducks and turtles and more. My family enjoys the picnic tables here. Recently we reserved several tables by the lake which under covering or pavilion. It's $165 for residents and we had it from 10AM to 4PM. We had a 6 year old birthday party with about 15 families in attendance. It was great! The kids LOVED the ducks, turtles, and play ground. It was nice to have tables and shade. Plenty of trash cans to throw away our trash. And plenty of parking for everyone. We all enjoyed it! read more

Almansor Park is an adventure Park with a beautiful lake with lots of different birds, ducks, and if you are lucky you can also see a Pelican. The park has basketball and a kids playground that is wonderful with so much fun equipment for kids. Also the baseball field, you can also play soccer and would see a workout machine through the park in different parts. Have clean bathrooms and a parking area in different places through the park. If you love to run or walk it has a trail that you can go through is about 1.2 miles I believe. The gardens are beautiful and you can find beautiful flowers and trees all over. read more

I like running here because one loop around the full paved road is almost exactly 1 mile, so it's easy to count the distance. Also the paving is really nice since I get shin splints easily, so it lessens the pain. It does get really crowded though and there's no etiquette of "walk on the right, pass on the left" so it can be frustrating to have to run around all the pedestrians. read more

Stopped by on Saturday, 07/01/23 for the first time. This park is the best for exercising, picnicking, and just hanging out in general. Extremely humongous park and there's a lot of people playing tennis, doing tai chi, basketball, baseball, walking laps, and grilling up some food. There's also a pond with ducks - so cute! Walked 3 laps around the park around night time and had a great time. There are restrooms in the park and it's relatively clean (seat covers and toilet papers available). Ample parking - free. Great recreational park! There's huge areas of grass to play lots of sports like soccer and picnic under the shady trees, basketball courts to compete with your friends (these courts are popular so come early), baseball fields, and even an indoor gym where you can play badminton. They recently fixed the track so be assured that your feet will be fine as you run or walk a couple laps. They also replaced all the park fitness equipment to completely new ones around the track last year. The bathrooms have plenty of stalls so you never have to wait and you can definitely tell that the city maintains relative cleanliness inside. read more

One of my dear friends of 34+ years celebrated mine and another friend's milestone birthday at Shanghai Dumpling House in San Gabriel a couple weekends ago. He and his wife bought a Porto's Parisian Chocolate Cake for us. We were thinking we would eat the cake at the restaurant, but restaurant was so small and people were waiting, we decided to find a park and have cake there. Almansor Park was found! I've been a San Gabriel Valley non-resident visitor for over 4+ decades and seldom if rarely do I visit parks within this area. Almansor Park is the 2nd park I've visited so far. Barnes Park is the 1st park I've visited for pickleball play LOL. Wow... Almansor is a really huge and nice park. It has a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts (I don't know if they have pickleball lines included), a man-made lake, covered and uncovered picnic areas, and more. Lots of parking, but make sure you park in the lots closest to where you'll spend most of your time. Otherwise, you may have to walk to get to where you'll want to be. Great place to spend the afternoon with family and friends. We were lucky to find some open space with benches that were under a covered picnic area. We had our cake and mochi (I bought the strawberry and mango mochi from JJ Bakery in Arcadia). It was a nice visit and celebration with my friends at this park. Thank you Almansor! read more

You can tell that this is a GOOD & SAFE neighborhood by seeing all families and members of the community out at night exercising, playing ball, hanging out, and just spending time together in general. Huge contrast to what I've seen at some weed lord parks lol. There are trails winding around the entire park along with some exercise machines scattered throughout. A couple of playgrounds as well as one of those mini public library boxes where you can leave or take a book (randomly found a sonography manual). Very big and well lit tennis and basketball courts. There's a large community and recreational center in the middle and the restrooms are decently clean there if they're open. Many gazebos and covered picnic tables as well as a small pond with the usual water fowl and red slider turtles. If you need to walk off a big meal in this area of the 626, this is the place to go. read more

Almansor Park is a great park for keeping active! There is a thriving basketball community, as well as plenty of runners and joggers. It can get very crowded on the weekends, especially if there are a few baseball games going at once! While there is a small children's playground, this is more of an adult exercise park. There is also a covered area, though this is often reserved during the day. read more

This is such a wonderful park to have a walk in! There are so many courts and fields (basketball, tennis, baseball, track, etc) that is next to a school and golf course. People also do Chinese dancing, exercises, and many other things. Plenty of space for you to do whatever you're interested in! There are so many geese hanging around the pond area. Almansor park is pretty much your basic park with a few basketball courts, children's playground etc. The obvious difference is that they have a pond with ducks, geese, turtles, fish which makes it pretty entertaining if you have a little one. My daughter had a great first experience with the animals, running around and having the time of her life. Definitely will be one of our go-to parks in the future. read more

My daughter seems to enjoy soccer, and after finishing a season of summer into fall, wifey signed her up for a winter into spring session. Half of her games are scheduled for Almansor Park, so we have gotten to know the area a little better than before. First thing to know-- the grounds feel expansive! Situated more or less around Almansor golf course, the park feels bigger than it is; after all, golf takes up a lot of room, so a park adjacent to the course seems much larger, despite the well-defined boundary fences that separate the two areas. The park itself features several amenities you would expect: athletic fields, baseball/softball diamonds, an all-weather jogging/walking path, restrooms, picnic areas, and a play area with swings and climbing structures for the kiddies. On weekends (especially during soccer season), parking can be tricky, but there is enough neighborhood adjacent to find a place to leave the car-- be sure to check posted signs so you don't find an expensive surprise on your wiper when you call it a day. read more

Almansor Park has been nostalgic to me since I've been coming here since I was in elementary school. Out of all the parks in the SGV area, I would have to say this one is my favorite. This park has everything from playgrounds, several types of sporting courts (I.e. basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis), and can't forget the nice little lake right near the middle of the park. There is a path that makes two giant loops, one loop near the lake/basketball courts, as well as another loop around the big field near the golf courses. I used to run these two loops for school and it equates to a little over 1 mile (good course to run for all you runners out there). The big field is also nice since besides sports, there are a lot of park activities that happen there such as a doggy meet-up, Easter egg hunt, or July 4th firework watching. Almansor is as family friendly as it gets. PARKING: there are several lots scattered around the perimeter, but the lot that I feel is most central to everything is located after turning into the small street from Almansor St. between the Gym and the Tennis courts. The lot is small but it's nice being close to pretty much most of the park amenities here, and I've been able to find parking most days. If that lot is filled, there is parking next to the tennis courts, in front of Almansor court, Golf courses, as well as residential street parking pretty much all around the perimeter of the park. Your spot will just dictate how much extra walking you'll have to do. Overall: Almansor is a large, family friendly park that has a little something for everybody! read more

Wow!!! This is my new favorite park. It's huge with a playground, grassy area for exercising, baseball field, basketball court, and I think even a golf course. But I did not come here for that. I came for the mini pond FULL of a variety of birds that include but are not limited to ducks, geese, and pelicans. I've been coming here since before i even got my license. and this place is still the same except a little better now. It's nice that's there's a community feel to this park and even with the pandemic everyone still stays safe and wears masks and all walk in the same direction. If you're new here you should know that if you see or hear a runner behind you to kinda move side so they can pass out of courtesy if you're walking. I love that no matter what time you come at at this park it's always lively and a different vibe. There's track, ponds , a football field, taichi practice in the morning, and even a kids playground to the side. The park is well upkept. If you're in need of a restroom it's located by the batting cages. There's also a selective friendly black and white cat that wanders the park. I always come here to walk off a huge meal in SGV. They have this rubber walking trail that is so good for your knees. My friend who is a Physical Therapist approves. On a non-COVID day, you can usually find a mix of old couples, middle aged girlfriends gossiping, athletic people running, and random people doing activities on the grass. The kids are usually playing on the playground (surprisingly open during COVID) or feeding geese. COVID days are about the same but with fewer older people. Masks are required. Bathrooms are still open. They took the hoops off the basketball courts during COVID, so all you can do now is dribble. The picnic tables are half open, and half caution-taped off, but that doesn't stop the Asian ah-yis and wai-po's. It looks like the socially distanced tables are open while the ones clustered together aren't? It's a nice place to have a COVID picnic. Me and some girlfriends brought takeout dim sum and it looked like another family had the same idea. read more

Since the gym is closed, my family and I decided to walk around the park on a Saturday morning in March. Parking was easy and abundant. As I walk around the park, the crowd is not as full compared in the past. The track was clean with lots of ducks and squirrels hanging out. They have lots of chairs throughout the park. After a year of living in Alhambra and moving away from my beloved Rose Bowl 5K loop, I decided that I'd explore Alhambra's local running spots to give myself an alternative to the days where I couldn't justify driving 6 miles up to the Rose Bowl to run my 3 miles. Enter Almansor Park and it's running/walking track. The track winds its way through and around the sizeable Almansor Park facility. A short loop around the baseball/softball fields makes for an easy .6 mile loop while the figure 8 route around the fields and the basketball area and gymnasium make for an exactly 1 mile loop. The track's surface is made of a slightly springy asphalt material that is softer and is easier on the feet and legs than running on regular asphalt or concrete. This alone makes this track worth running for me. Come at the wrong time of the day, and the track is overly crowded with walkers of all ages and runners will have to do a lot of weaving through people. I haven't done this yet but coming early in the morning might be better if you'd like a less crowded run with fewer people on the track. Parking at this park can be hard to find but there is ample street parking around the perimeter of the park and a couple of different lots. As a bonus, the pond at this park also serves as a Pokémon gym for those who still play Pokémon Go. It is also a known Mewtwo Raid location so raid here if you get a chance! So overall: -The good: A large facility with different areas for different sports, clean bathrooms, and a great running/walking track. There's something for all ages here! -The bad: Because it's such a great facility, it often becomes very crowded. Come at strategic times if you want some quiet time at the park. -The ugly: I've never come here and not had trouble with parking! Be prepared to circle around or park outside the park and walk inside. Also! Beware of the ducks! They can be aggressive if provoked. I saw 3 or 4 ducks chasing after a baby after it got too close! read more

Like the city of Alhambra, there's much to like about Almansor Park. There are many amenities here to enjoy: * Basketball and tennis courts * Multiple baseball fields * A picnic pavilion and BBQ grills * A gymnasium * A duck pond with a fountain * A playground for kids * Rubber-padded paths that cover roughly a mile around the perimeter of the park The rubberized path is particularly nice for runners. Get the benefits of running while reducing impact on your joints. There are also fitness stations located along the path, so you can intersperse cardio and strength training as you work on getting that summer bod! Bathrooms are relatively clean and the park looks well-maintained. Adjacent on the east side and separated by a chain fence is the larger Alhambra Golf Course. Having the golf course in the background gives Almansor Park a more spacious feel. Overall, this is a great park and a terrific asset for the surrounding community! read more

DOGS *NOW* ALLOWED!!! I'll finally write a review for my beloved park to tell you that ;) I've been going to this park for the past few years and I've only recently seen people start bringing dogs. At first, I thought, "How dare they?!" because as much as I LOVE dogs, I'm a rule follower. However, I started seeing signs allowing dogs too, but they looked like some dog-loving person just slapped on some stickers. After seeing a dog waste post, that helped me determine that they're allowed. You might still see some big signs saying "No Dogs," so be wary that some people might get angry at you if they didn't notice the change. Happy dog walking! :) PROS * Dog-friendly now! * AstroTurf all around the park - which is why, I imagine, I have to dodge around a lot of cute, old people when I do my laps. * Gorgeous little lake, pagoda and places to sit * Tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball courts, spacious field for soccer (loved it better when the field wasn't fenced in) * Geese, cute ducks and overtly brave and spoiled squirrels :) * Open late! Would I come back? If you like to run flats or are doing agility training this is the place to go. I come here on days where I want to do some quick cardio. Keep in mind this is a park and there are a lot of people walking at night. You can usually squeeze through or run on the grass. I usually run the oval track and call it a day. Each loop is about .65 miles and 5 laps will be equivalent to a 5k. Now that it gets darker earlier, I do not feel like getting hit by cars running around the block so I just come here. Gets the cardio out of the way and I do not need to deal with the stop signs and red lights running around town. read more

This park is always popular with all ages! They have the walking track for those who wanna walk or do some jogging. There's basketball courts for those who wanna ball. Theres tennis courts outside of the park. There's a children's playground more inner by the inside parking lot. The park is as clean as it can get, there isn't much trash or much homeless people around. The children's playground has swings and who different play areas for toddlers and for older kids which is nice since it's not as alarming when your toddler is playing. There is a lake that has fishes, red eared slider turtles and ducks. This park has a nice areas for bbqing or picnics. I think there's some areas/tables that might need to be reserved if you gonna throw something big. Overall nice park, just minus one star for the inner parking lot- it's small and tight. read more
