Since I don't drink, why am I at the new brewery in town? The food! Grain Theory is on the second floor and has an outdoor deck around the building. It's awesome! We started with the pretzel bites, which came with cheese dip and a lemon tahini honey mustard. They were great! Carolyn had the fish and chips, which was a big portion and she liked it. I had the bratwurst roll with sweet and savory red onion jam. Delicious! The jam really made the difference. Glenda had the Boerewors roll with tomato onion relish. She let me have a bite and it sure was good! The fries, excuse me, the frites are brined overnight and then deep fried twice. I guess it matters, cause they sure were good! So, you don't have to drink beer to enjoy going to a brewery! Just a side note, I left my debit card here. Management had it when I called the next day. Thank you! Good food, great atmosphere. Not a huge beer drinker, but their coffees/lattes are awesome and they also have a decent wine selection.

This place is one of the best things to happen to Abilene. Amazing atmosphere with a giant wrap around patio overlooking downtown. Garage-style doors open up the indoors, making this the perfect spot to come during the pandemic. Outdoor tables are spaced out by more than 10', and there is a heater at each one. Patio is pet friendly. They have South African style homemade Biltong at a very reasonable price, which makes for a unique snack if you have not yet tried it. High quality coffee, and delicious drinks. I haven't tried the food but it looks really good. A couple negative are limited close parking and street construction noises during the day. I haven't seen an elevator anywhere, so I don't know that it is accessible, with there being a flight of stairs to enter. Other than that, this place certainly deserves 5 stars! read more

Just what Abilene needed. First time trying this place out and it was also our first date night in 6 months. Great place for couples, groups, and families. Good food and drinks and even better vibes and atmosphere. We had the steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly. Loved being able to sit outside and overlook downtown with a glass of wine. The vibe of this place was awesome. The staff is somewhat family. The food comes in big portions which is great two people can eat off of one plate depending on what you eat or your eating habits. We popped in for a meeting and a beer and ended up staying for dinner. The lighter Pilsner had a great flavor and taste while not being overwhelming or having an after taste that stays with you. The fish was soft and fried just right for us. We also went the route of a whole bunch of items from the pretzels to the smaller app plates and found they really made for a nice night. I had low expectations for Abilene, fortunately Grain Theory is there. My wife had a sore knee so we used the elevator.

Nice space! Good for hangouts. Yummy food as well. The beer is decent and they also have wine. Overall definitely like the place!

Super chill. Probably my favorite place to go to. Beer and tasty food. Not just bar food. It's a little out of the ordinary. Worth a try.

Went back today for lunch and tried the chicken roll. Soooo good I'm sure the slaw is great (it's a purple haze ranch slaw), but I did mine without slaw because it's just not my thing. The food is great and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in town! The fish and chips is a favorite but if you get there for breakfast/brunch time the tacos are WOW! Sitting on the 2nd floor of a building, the outdoor porch vibe is perfect for warm weather and a cold beer. The panna cotta is light and full of espresso flavor with a touch of beer. This establishment was a recommendation and the place was nice and clean. Several beer choices available in this brewery. Service is really good and the only chink in their armor is food preparation and execution on some items offered. The fish and chips $13 (one fillet) was over fried and the batter was so thick that the inside was still raw. I ordered the patty melt $15 medium and I was served a very well done patty that was sandwiched in between 2 rather cold sourdough slices of bread. The melt was a barely there slice of white cheese. This was very disappointing to say the least. When I went to speak to the kitchen staff they informed me that they do not accept and type of special order requests and that every burger is cooked well done. It may be ok if the burger wasn't as thin as what they served here (about a 1/4" thick patty) The Peri roll $14 was very good and the weekend special $22 was the best option The best thing this place has going for it is the staff friendly and happy to serve. 4 stars here read more

In Abilene for a wedding, went to Grain Theory for lunch, very clean, open space. Nice open seating inside and plenty of tables out on the balcony. Friendly staff, nice menu and good brew. Good environment to sit and visit, or eat and run. Very enjoyable meal, give it a try if you are in Abilene. read more

Whether you just need a place to host a cocktail meeting or a full fledged evening including catering Grain Theory can do it all and do it well. We hosted my son and fiancés rehearsal dinner. David K. and his staff performed amazingly. We had charcuterie boards for appetizers, then a two protein main coarse with green beans and mash potatoes, fresh rolls with a garlic butter. Grain Theory allowed us to purchase an outside dessert from a chain establishment but do have desserts as well. We had tea, coffee, and water. Our choice to utilize the pour your own allows your guest to pour from with in the Blakeley room and not have to enter the bar/restaurant.
