This is not the best location even though it's right on the water. They have a new menu this season but I was disappointed to see that most of the apps were fried. There aren't a ton of "healthy" options here and the Caesar salad lacked flavor and had a vinegar taste. The cream of crab soup was good but luke warm. It's nice that they allow dogs and even provided a water bowl for them. Probably won't be returning. Too expensive for not great food.

Just off my boat attempting to fish new area. We stop in. Not alot of traffic, but an off point staff. Took us a min to be served at the bar. Finally water with fresh squeeze lime juice- bartender went above. Looled at the wrong Grain menu- didnt have much vegetarian options. So I order brussel sorouts and scramble eggs, cheddar cheese carmelized onions and hash browns. My guest had Chesapeake Eggs over hash browns with seafood, Skillet cornbread, extra butter. Okay my dish was temp lukewarm, powder eggs had no seasoning , no parsley, no dressup; the hash browns under the eggs were cruncy/overcooked, like hard cellaphane asian noodle used to make a bowl nest. Brussels sprouts were decent. But needed red pepper flakes to come alive. Guest dish was ok. And the skillet cornberead was buttery, and plated well. But the objection was although our male bartender checkin to see if we needed anything there was no engagement at the bar. Then we attemptedbto speak with a black gentleman in position, Michele, who identifed himself as the General Mamager. Wirking in restaurant business 20 years, its not about your title its about what you do. Walking around with sunglasses on, no personality, no welcome to the restaurant, no engagement, just dry- shirt replies. Is where the, I knew we should have went to Scheaffers, The 1 bartender that had any engagement was a mom, who was exhausted working two doubles in 2 days. Pray she gets some rest. I can see why their understaff, poor management in employee scheduling, poor leadership in customer service execution of making every customer have an enjoyable 1st time experence. We are potential new business owners coming into the community. You are the closest restaurant to my boat, and I we are projecting to have 50 youth in our program, that were additional clientele coming to the restaurant, in the next 3months. As adults its not easy operating at your best everyday but when in hospitality & service arena, your off day can cause a restaurant to lose $1000.00's. 2 people spent $120, (expose youth/chaperones to restaurant- 55 people x avg food ticket $ 25 + 202% gratuity $6= $1705. You just loss our business.

This place would have been better if the had more than 2 waitresses. Food took forever to come out. This place is more like a hangover spot the next morning for college kids. Be warned do not bring your children here. It was a nice day and the outside patio was closed because they didn't have enough staff to serve people. Food was very blah and I'm being nice about that.

Invited my family out to Grain H20 for a brunch on a Saturday which seemed to be a calm before the storm as there wasn't many people there yet but maybe the heat kept people at home. Regardless enjoyed some brunch food with a scrapple sandwich, crab cake skillet, scrapple fries and beef skillet with home fries and eggs. We also had some drinks which is what is pictured with the Grain Blood Mary which some delicious jerky, stuff olive and some intense old bay seasoning. The tomato juice with mixed in alcohol was a great blend for the meal. I'd like to return back to Grain H20 to see how the place comes alive with weekly events and music. The food was good, service was excellent, and I'm going to be checking this place out for some happy hour and more adult evening than brunch!

Great spot for lunch with me and my friends! We sat outside and enjoyed the steak salad and wraps.

Well, there is no seating where the music is not loud so they shouldn't even be offering it. I've never been in a restaurant where the live music is almost deafening. It was out of control. I don't know how anyone was able to sit inside and have a conversation because you had to yell at the person beside you. Once we were able to get a table (outside in the cold since the music was so loud) and a waiter finally came we ordered food. Skipping ahead...I ordered the nachos. If you like cold queso out of a jar then this is the dish for you! No exaggeration, the queso was completely cold like it had been spooned out of the jar from the shelf. Unreal. Add to this, the dock that backs up to the restaurant kept catching fire. I kid you not. There was some loose pipe or cable that caught fire at least twice while there. Stay away from this place!

But she failed to notice that six of us received their entrées while my wife didn't get hers. My wife had to flag her down after a few minutes and ask. Clearly either she forgot to put it in or the kitchen forgot to make it, because the rest of us were half done by the time my wife's food arrived. Food was mixed. My crab bisque had good flavor, but only a few shreds of crab meat. My wife's Jazzy Jeff soup also had very little crab in it. The crab cake was advertised as having lump crabmeat. It didn't. The fries were good, but the Parmesan cheese mentioned on the menu seemed to be MIA. When our server brought boxes for leftovers she also dropped the check, even though we haven't asked for it. Either they don't have dessert or we were never offered it. We enjoyed the setting and loved spending time with our friends on a lovely end of summer day. But we won't rush back.

On one hand I want to try again for dinner but for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. Pros: Amazing service - very attentive server(s); we had one in training/shadowing and she was just as good as our primary server, offering refills, clearing plates, overall greet banter Cocktails are fantastic - had the Minnie Ripperton and loved it - creamy yet refreshing and bright which is a tough combo to achieve Cons: Hidden entrance - after circling what looked like an abandoned building 2x we finally figured out the entrance was in the backy and down a set of stairs. I now understand the "speakeasy vibe" but the clutter in the front made the building look abandoned or under construction; not a great start to the experience for us Food service - the other couple we were dining with got their entrees about 10 minutes before ours and we were some of the first orders & diners of the day. Usually you might hold the whole table or refire some of the dishes so it all comes out at the same time. They finished theirs before we even got our to start, making it a strange eating experience Small print menu - with the low light of the speakeasy, the menu had the teeeeniest print I've ever seen making it very difficult to read the menu options. We also didn't realize that the menu changes/is seasonal (not called out on the website) so many of the items we had wanted to try were not an available option. I love a menu that changes but hope it's indicated on the website (aka: sample menu, subject to seasonal change) Hit-n-miss: Fried chicken Benedict- huge portions, amazing biscuits and perfectly poached (but unseasoned?) eggs. I don't know if the hollandaise soaked into the fried chicken or never existed at all - and that's the thing you want with a Benedict. If it existed, it never reached the biscuits because while they were good, but were completely dry Shrimp and grits - perfectly cooked, great consistency, but very under-seasoned Water - just an observation and maybe it's just the local tap water flavor but it tasted off or as off the soap hadn't been washed from the glasses Pro Tip: be aware of the automatic gratuity in some circumstances; if you don't know, check the website before your meal!

I'm glad, because with it being slightly off the 'main drag' in Middletown, we might not have seen it otherwise. We arrived towards the end of the dinner rush hour, and fortunately were seated over by where a musician was playing. It was a busy night, and we were tired and hungry from a day at the faire. As it was busy, there were sportsball games going and the musician playing, shouting was required for discussion and we had some funny misunderstandings YOUR GRAPE IS ON THE MOON? WHAT? Oh, your gravy is a little cool! :) The musician was great, playing lots of 70s and 80s hits, and he seemed to enjoy us singing along and dancing. We are, after all, rennies. We're glad he was enjoying us as much as we were enjoying his music. We got drinks and menus quickly, and our server was attentive without being pushy. After a few minutes looking over the menu, she appeared and we ordered. I got the Stampede Burger, while one of my friends got the Prime Dip sandwich (AKA French Dip), and one got chicken fingers. All came in reasonable time and were quite good, hearty food. So, why the one star off? Dessert. Could we have a brownie sundae? Out of brownies. OK, how about chocolate cake? Out of that, too. Uh...red velvet? Out. Basically everything chocolate. Sigh. Yeah, it was busy but not insane. We ended up not getting dessert, and it was disappointing. Whoever's managing food orders and prep, please do better. Also, if it's not available, it would have been great for the server to say so up front, that way she didn't have to tell us no 3 times. Parking in a private lot, plentiful. We would go again, we just will plan on dessert elsewhere.

With plenty of outside seating and perfect views of all the boating action on the canal Schaefer's is the perfect spot for an early dinner. While the place is always busy, especially when the weather is nice, we were seated within 15 minutes---just enough time to order a few drinks from the large outside bar. Our server was exceptional given the number of tables he seemed to be handling as he stopped at our table frequently between trips to other tables and getting orders in. I think it was great he had help---our appetizers and food were brought to the table by another staff allowing our server to focus on taking orders and getting them to the kitchen---a very well run restaurant! We had the Fresh Berries & Greens salad---Served with honey raspberry dressing, gorgonzola cheese, mandarin oranges and toasted almonds. Portion was on the larger size and worth the price. Also tried one of their specials for the day--a Mediterranean garlic chicken flatbread and it was baked to a crispy crust and topped with a balsamic glaze. Highly recommend if you see it on the menu. While we waited for our dinners we sipped on a couple glasses of red blend and enjoyed their Chips & Salsa which included Tortilla chips served with tomato and mango salsa and guacamole. Chips were fresh, the mango salsa had a nice kick, and the guac was tasty and not bland. An appetizer very much worth trying!
