I'm a huge fan of Paella; it's a dish that has all the goodness of mother earth, combined with the crispy delicious seafood and the base of the dish, a comforting bed of long grain rice with saffron. Yum! In my search for this Spanish staple in my neighborhood I found Goya. They serve good quality Spanish staples and I have to say I was very pleased with what I ate! The paella they serve is a dish to share with friends with a bottle of wine. Be sure to have some tapas as starters, my favorite tapa is, jamon serrano with Spanish manchego, its a feast for the senses. Prices are relatively cheap, when you consider the plate of paella can be shared and it costs £12.95. Good deal and good food.

The paella and octopus was lovely! The portions are just perfect. The Portuguese owner and hosts were a delight. I will stop by again!

Had a good wine and some decent vege paella and cheese toast. Did not much care for the potatoes. Overall a nice friendly place!

It's a beautiful restaurant that's ideally situated next to the theatre district. 2. Menu is very interesting and full of unique items that are rare to find on traditional restaurant menus. It's also quite good for vegetarians (3 mains and 3 apps are fully vegetarian). 3. Service was quite good. Our server was quite attentive, helpful, and gave us excellent recommendations. The chef's assistant also came out a few times to say Hi and even brought us complimentary coffee at the end. 4. Price is incredibly good for the kind of food, experience, service, and location you're in. Two of us had two appetizers, two mains, 1 dessert, and a carafe of wine for £80 (incl. service)! 5. Finally -- the food. Explosions of flavor, unique textures, and interesting preparations all combine to make this a wonderful experience. I had memories of eating in San Sebastian at Michelin star restaurants...highly recommended for 1/5 of the price! Check out the pictures to see some of the things we got. I would highly recommend the "Traditional Talo" and "Arraultzak". The "Arroz de Setas" was also awesome, but a bit salty for my taste. We got an excellent Rioja to go with the food which was perfect. For dessert, the salted caramel is a no-brainer!

Indeed all the staff were delightfully charming and courteous. Nevertheless, the ceiling is a bit of an eye-sore (test tubes full of different dull colours) but at least there's an acceptable reason behind their being there (they are to signify the restaurant's connection to their origins in Spain where they actually have a lab to concoct a whole variety of spices). As for the food and drink, it does have to be said that the 5-course taster menu is not that filling and the price for still water (£5) seems a little extortionate. However, the bread (available in white and brown with pumpkin seeds and served with olive oil) is certainly very pleasant and fresh, the scallops are well cooked and suitably complimented with vinaigrette flavour, the egg is masterfully poached and the pouring of more yolk on top is an original touch, whilst the monkfish confetti is wonderfully creative with confetti pieces made of edible souces. So although I can't shake the feeling that Ametsa does lack that extra special something, on the whole it does excel in its food and service and is well worth a visit.

If I could, I would rate Ametsa as 4 1/2 stars…read more We arrived a little early for our reservation, and were seated immediately. The space isn't very big, but it was sleek and modern. I liked that the tables were nicely laid out so you didn't feel cramped while eating. My wife and I opted for the 105 GBP tasting menu, and we ate the following: Watermelon and tomato soup: this amuse was a nice and refreshing start to our meal Trio of appetizers: we were served, in fun plates, a salami-flavored roll, gyoza, and fishcake wrapped in phyllo. All were tasty. Scallops: they were nicely cooked, and I liked the house-made crackers. Fried lobster: this was so good (crispy and light), wish I had a bigger piece. Runny egg with ham consomme: tasted good, like breakfast Cod;nicely cooked Monkfish on the beach: the monkfish was nicely cooked. The "shells" were actually edible, but they tasted mostly of sugar. Pork belly: very soft and tender After a beet juice cleanser, we were on to the desserts: "Donut": apple puree was surrounded by a chocolate shell. This was a fun dessert to crack open and eat. Chocolate truffle: two pieces of deep, dark chocolate Final course of chocolate: there were some moons, stars, and more chocolate: while good, we were totally stuffed by this time (3 1/2 hours into our dinner). All in all, we really enjoyed the food and the service (though it took some time to get our bill). The meal was definitely not cheap, but if you are looking for a Michelin-starred restaurant in the Belgravia area, you should check out Ametsa.

The manager here was incredibly kind and managed to seat me between reservations anyway, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, I didn't quite finish my meal in time before the next party arrived, but instead of rushing me, they graciously moved me to the bar so I could enjoy my dessert. What really struck me was the atmosphere. While I was sitting there, several people popped in just to say hello to the staff, which speaks volumes about how welcoming and family-esque this place feels. Hands down some of the best wait staff I've experienced. The food was fantastic. I had the ham croquettes, white wine, and churros with chocolate and having just been in Barcelona recently, I can honestly say this was the closest I've found to authentic tapas in London. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in London. A gem of a place with heart, hospitality, and incredible food.

The Donostia Social Club, hidden in the POP Brixton Container complex, is a lovely homely little venue that serves great tapas (although definitely not at the prices you'll get in Spain), that is pretty authentic - even down to the little squat bread sticks you get with everything in Spain. It's a very intimate restaurant, although there is limited outdoor seating if you're claustrophobic, but I love what they've done with the place. The white tile wall reminds me of restaurants I've visited in Spain, although the tiles are much bigger, so it's an interesting English take on this. The Patatas Bravas are particularly lovely and come with salt flakes, chilli and tomato sauce. The meat platter is nice, (It was okay for the UK, but nothing like the standard you'd get in Spain) but the bread is a little too thick cut, it really needs to be thinner, it's hard to take a bite, so I'd suggest if you order this you ask for them to thinly cut this. Absolutely yummy!

This tapas place has a little upstairs outdoor seating (lovely for a summers day however when I was there it was waaaaay too cold) which provides a great view of the rest of Pop Brixton down below as well as inside where there is long wooden bar with stools where you are seated and served from behind the bar. The place has a cool vibe and an amazing looking menu! I only tried a taster given our during an event - a huge creamy wedge of goats cheese, a little leaf with a strawberry and balsamic glaze on top - which was really really good and will mean I definitely return for a proper meal. The menu ranges from £3.50 (for a scallop) to £7.50 (lamb rump) and everything sounds incredible. What a great find!
