El Nido is a friendly, old fashioned Spanish restaurant in Wallington, Surrey. I have vistied the…read morerestaurant several times and have always enjoyed the food and hospitality. Every evening the restaurant does a three course meal deal for £13.95. Dishes I've had there include the house pate, a rich chicken liver pate served with toast, Steak Diane, Veal in wine and cream sauce and trout. All dishes were superb. El Nido has a dessert trolley and choices vary from week to week. One thing that doesn't ever go off the dessert trolley is something called fruit brulee - probably stunningly bad for you, but tastes fantastic. It is a mixture of cream, sweet fruits, alcohol and caramelised brown sugar. The service is prompt and friendly. You will probably need to book a table most weekends and it can be packed particlularly on Saturday's.

Food was bland and tasteless, prawns still had their intestines inside, we was told "this is how it is done in galicia" I don't believe it for one minute. Do you serve faecal matter to customers? Someone please tell me if that's true. After we complained about our food the male waiter he was horrible. ( I must mention I did apologise and say that I don't mean to be rude). Cherry on the top? I've now got stomach cramps and have been in and out of the toilet at least 5 times. The one star I have given is a bit of a stretch for this restaurant.

We'd already been on numerous occasions and have never left disappointed. The staff are friendly and very chatty but attentive without being in your face. The food is authentically Spanish the lamb chops are to die for. The wine is always flowing and the atmosphere is on a par with any town centre tapas bar. There is off street parking, our car usually stays overnight safely. Children are always welcome and catered for our son's favourite being chorizo and chips, not on the menu but always available! But for my party they really upped the ante, they had ample staff (on a Sunday before a Bank Holiday), they knew what food would work for a party and no-one went hungry. They accommodated our every whim nothing was too much trouble. La Botija is ideal for families, friends, and a romantic tete a tete. Go you will be back again and again.

It's a beautiful restaurant that's ideally situated next to the theatre district. 2. Menu is very interesting and full of unique items that are rare to find on traditional restaurant menus. It's also quite good for vegetarians (3 mains and 3 apps are fully vegetarian). 3. Service was quite good. Our server was quite attentive, helpful, and gave us excellent recommendations. The chef's assistant also came out a few times to say Hi and even brought us complimentary coffee at the end. 4. Price is incredibly good for the kind of food, experience, service, and location you're in. Two of us had two appetizers, two mains, 1 dessert, and a carafe of wine for £80 (incl. service)! 5. Finally -- the food. Explosions of flavor, unique textures, and interesting preparations all combine to make this a wonderful experience. I had memories of eating in San Sebastian at Michelin star restaurants...highly recommended for 1/5 of the price! Check out the pictures to see some of the things we got. I would highly recommend the "Traditional Talo" and "Arraultzak". The "Arroz de Setas" was also awesome, but a bit salty for my taste. We got an excellent Rioja to go with the food which was perfect. For dessert, the salted caramel is a no-brainer!
