As there isn't parking in the immediate vicinity, I strolled down They have tried to create a Mexican feel with sombreros hanging up everywhere Perhaps the best thing is their comprehensive menu of proper cocktails. During Happy Hour, the regular cocktails are all £3.50. My virgin pina colada was good and my friend was happy with her Singapore Gin Sling We shared a tostada to start - chorizo and prawns were served on a corn cracker with pinto beans. The toppings were nice though the guacamole didn't taste homemade. The waiter had failed to ask how I wanted my rib eye cooked and I waited until he was about to leave the table before telling him. Could do better there. The steak lacked the normal bone that rib eye has but was quite flavourful. The pepper sauce was quite glutinous. My friend's salmon was overcooked by a lot and the pairing with bearnaise sauce tasted a bit odd So a brave attempt to introduce a new genre of food to Epsom but only an average dining experience.

I must preface this review by telling you I am a Tex-Mex snob. I am not proud of it, but it is the…read moretruth. Having said that, I won't be returning to Los Amigos as I was fairly disappointed with the food. My husband and I visited for dinner and tried several dishes. To start, we ordered the tortilla dips and chips and the stuffed jalapeño peppers. The chips were slightly stale and the salsa was more like a sweet tomato sauce. The stuffed jalapeño peppers were good, but they could have been deep fried from a frozen product. For our mains, we had the chicken fajitas and the chicken nachos. The nachos had the same issues as the chips and salsa with the chicken tasting more Spanish than Tex-Mex. The fajitas were cooked okay, but must have had the same Spanish-rice type seasoning as the nachos... which really killed the flavour, in my opinion. I also tried the regular margarita, for which I had high hopes (thinking this could at least be a solid post-work drinks spot.) Sadly, the margarita was made with a mix and had only the one redeeming quality of a well-salted rim. I would have gladly paid another £1 or £2 for a margarita made from scratch- especially at a Tex Mex restaurant! All this said, I do not recommend this restaurant and suggest you go to Wimbledon for either Chiptole or Wahaca for your Tex-Mex cravings.

It's not the biggest Mexican Resturant but it's local(ish) and as you can use Tastecard there that makes it even better. So pointers, Tastecard cannot be used to access the happy hour cocktails, Tastecard cannot be applied to the house specials . Anyway it is a small friendly restaurant the staff were very welcoming and the actual environment of the restaurant is ok, painted walls with Mexican imagery along with pictures of Hollywood legends in action mood, think Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood (to name a few) and so the list goes on. Except there is a picture of Gregory Peck in his civvies, which I really did not get. The cocktails were very good I will be going back without the car to sample more. The fact that you can order a pitcher of the cocktail you have is cool, the Mexican Banger is good The food is served in good portion sizes, except my starter of butterflied king prawns, could have used more than 3!!! The mains were all of good size and very filling. They could use slightly more spice but I guess that is a personal taste thing. All in all I will go back just to sample a pitcher of the Mexican Banger

I sometimes worry that my first reaction "Five Stars!" is good pair of cocktail tinted glasses…read more But no, this is definitely a five stars for me. The Service: Sublime. The waiters were totally fantastic, we were one of the only couples there as it was getting quite late and they saw us having a little dance to the Mexican music so they turned it up as we were sitting outside, they brought us some sombreros to wear and gave us an extra plate of chips on the house when we couldn't decide between two sides. They were fun, friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty. The Food: Was amazing. Would highly recommend the Jack Daniels Rib Eye Steak, it was cooked to perfection, in the most delicious sauce. And the Nacho's for starter were fiery and just the kick I was looking for from a Mexican restaurant. The Drinks: Im sure there is an evening of 2-4-1 cocktails, and i'd definitely go back just for that, the cocktails were sweet, fruity and with a warm afterglow of alcohol. And the waiters were clued up enough to recommend certain cocktails to compliment certain dishes. They have a selection of your bog standard cocktails and then some rather interesting Mexican ones, the 'Cactus Banger' was a favourite. A huge variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks though. The Decor: So authentic that had the weather been a bit warmer outside I'm sure i'd have thought I was in Mexico. The Downside: You get what you pay for I guess, but the price was high. You could pay about £8 for an iced tea cocktail. But not extraordinary, just quite expensive. Especially if you want to try a bit of everything like greedy old me...

I went in with a hope and a prayer that one review would be an accurate one…read more Man, was I wrong. In so many ways. Overpriced, overcooked, and underwhelming. I was nearby at Dorking Halls for a meeting and thought Mexican for lunch sounded like a better option than a boring, overpriced sandwich from the snack counter there. Oof. Big mistake. I got a taco plate described as being "double corn tortillas" which made me think 2 soft corn tortillas per taco - standard for a good Mexican restaurant. I ordered the chicken variety. What came was amazingly awful. It was, I am fairly certain, the contents of an Old El Paso home taco kit with embellishments. Hard corn tortilla shells, shredded 2 tone cheese quite clearly from a packet, lettuce, mushy corn, some chopped tomato & onion, shredded lettuce, and orange rice which was direly overcooked and seemed very likely microwaved. The guacamole was clearly the sort of liquidy long-life squeezy bottle variety which is one of the most off-putting things in the world. I was asked if I wanted salsa. I said yes. Out came a tiny ketchup-dipper-sized pot of what looked like a spicy ketchup, but nothing like a nice pico de gallo that I would expect at such a place. The chicken is the only thing I can say anything nice about. Whatever seasoning they used was very nice, and quite spicy. It was juicy and flavourful. But that is the only positive aspect of the meal. For 4 taco shells, a bunch of toppings from bags, the chicken, and a Diet Coke I was charged £16. Sixteen! For lunch. IN DORKING. On my way out, a man who I presumed to be the owner asked if I was local. I said no. "Then I won't waste a takeaway menu on you!" he said laughingly. (Thanks???). He asked if I thought it was good, and all I could say was "the chicken was delicious" - because that was true. Unfortunately a bowl of nice shredded chicken doesn't make up for the fact that I was charged an insane amount of money for 1/3 of a £4 grocery store DIY taco kit. I probably should've made a fuss at the time, but I had to get back to my meeting and the owner seemed a bit aggressive and I didn't want to have to deal with that. Most awful fake Mexican I've had.
