While in London, met up with family for dinner at Condesa before catching a show. We were able to walk in and be seated right away without a reservation. This was probably my favorite restaurant while visiting. My absolute favorite tapa was the tuna tartar tostadas. We also got the lamb, albondigas, and sliders. We didn't leave a crumb! My sister and her husband also ordered the hummus tostadas, roasted cauliflower, and grilled carrots. She's not the biggest tapas fan so I was so glad she enjoyed the food as well. We got a pitcher of red sangria to add to the experience and ended dinner with the Pan de Elote, which was quite the crowd pleaser. The restaurant is definitely in the "it" part of the city, lots of foot traffic and so many things going on around the place. The setup is real cool too. We sat at the bar, which is right in front of the kitchen so you get to watch as the cooks prepare the dishes. The service was real fast too. It is a bit on the pricey side, but if you don't mind splurging a bit, it's definitely worth trying! read more

Omg!!! This place is always packed for a reason. It's tiny and soooo delicious. Amazing kitchen, great wines, great energy and crowd, super nice people work here and it feels warm, cozy and fun. There're tables outside, inside or seats at the bar or the chef's table, its tight but such great energy. The dishes are well cooked and well seasoned. The flavors are amazing. The cauliflower was phenomenal, the grilled octopus was perfectly soft and needs a bread for dipping, where the sourdough comes in. The green olives plate was great. The Lomito beets burrata is a dish I can see on the Top Chef show, its a gorgeous presentation and flavors, with beets that look exactly like the prosciutto slices. Such a great play on an illusion between eyes and taste buds. The burrata was fresh and just right. This place's got it together. Selection of wines is great and reasonably priced, all pair perfectly well with the tapas. Bring friends so you can try more dishes. :)) read more

We came here on accident because the wine bar we wanted to go to had a private event, and we are sure glad we came! We tried a few things with a glass of wine and ended up staying for a while and ordered almost everything on the menu and a carafe of wine. I only got a picture of the octopus because we wanted to eat everything immediately when it hit the table. Will definitely come again next time we are in town. read more

They were such a genuine family type of service. Something that can be rare in these parts. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and wait staff at this restaurant. The salad was really fresh, light and full of flavor. We also had the pon con tomate, which was light and very fresh. We shared the blue cheese salad and then topped it with the cecina de leon. Great mix of flavors. The only thing that we were perplexed about was the kikos. By the description of the corn, it leads you to believe it's like fresh corn and barbecued. But it's actually corn nuts. We thought it was an appetizer like chips and salsa. When we told her they forgot the kikos, she explained it was the "corn nuts". Since we didn't even eat them, she took them off the bill. One of our best meals while In London. Oh, and a nice selection of wines, with the Malbec being our fav. read more

I usually don't walk into a restaurant without checking Yelp. However, I was walking on Maiden Ln and this place looked nice. Since I was traveling by myself, I wanted a place I could sit at the bar. I'm glad I did. The staff was super nice and I even talked to the chef which made the experience even better. They were very accommodating, there was a couple in a rush to get to the theater and they were super nice about it. The food was great. I had the octopus ceviche send on a "tostada", the sesame oil added a nice flavor as well as the fish eggs (like caviar but cheaper and lighter). The pork cheek tacos were delicious, the pork melted as I was eating it. The popular "tortilla" was a little plain but I added some salt and pepper and that worked. I even had their jalapeño olives and they were great--- don't worry, they were not super spicy (if you're used to spicy food). The wine was great too. I had the albariño. Overall, great place to come with friends, dates or even by yourself. read more

My favorite tapas restaurant in Covent Garden. They serve the strange stuff like cow intestines, tongue and the sort of dishes you'd expect in Catalonia. The portions are small. It's a tasting menu not a true tapas place like in Spain where the specialize in a few daily dishes (on top of the set menu) with sizeable portions with matching cervezas. However, I still like this place. More seats would be nice. read more

I went with high expectations, but was slightly disappointed. I would give it 3.5 stars, to be fair. Food was good overall. We had potatoes, octopus ceviche, pork belly, pulled pork sliders and chorizo. The biggest issue for me was that they seemed quite bland -- no distinctive personality. Also, the portions were surprisingly small for the price, even by tapas standards. Service was very good. All staff members were friendly and prompt. Ambience was also cozy and hip -- not as posh or straight-laced as some other tapas restaurants I've been to. Do note, though, that the place is quite small and can get noisy at times. read more

One of our favorite restaurants in London - specifically Covent Garden. The spicy olives are to die for! Get them! The tapas are delicious. We went 3 times, and were never disappointed! The sangria is also delicious! Sebastian is the Manager - and he is lovely. Great ambiance - small, but rooms enough. I wouldn't recommend this place for young children. You can't go wrong eating here. Vegans will not have many options. Good for gluten free, pescatarian and dairy free diets. read more

Stumbled across this little spot while trying to navigate the sub-par, over-priced establishments that litter the area. It's a cosy wine bar with a lot of personality. We enjoyed the Rioja and a few tapas, including the pork sliders, chorizo in red wine and Cecina de Leon (the special, cured beef with goats cheese). All delicious. i cant believe if found this place in a back street of Covent garden! i generally avoid restaurants in touristy areas as they are overpriced and lack any character. However, Condesa looks like it could have been taken straight out of the east village in NYC...i.e Cool hole in the wall style vibe. we got their late afternoon and they agreed to extend their lunch fixed price menu where you get 3 tapas dishes and a Spanish style coconut smoothie for £10. between my wife and I we got all 6 of the 'happy hour' dishes they offered. They don't have a kitchen but seemed to work miracles on a small little grill behind the bar. don't get me wrong this is not in the same class as Jose' in Bermondsey ...but these 6 plates are fantastic for £20. you could taste the pride and effort they put into their menu too. 1) Chorizo Iberico- i love Chorizo and this was very juicy! 2) Pulled Pork Pibil - kinda like a pulled pork slider but with a kick 3) Quesadilla - mmm cheese cant go wrong here 4) Ommelette tortilla - my favourite! he even asked if we wanted this well done or a little runny. 5) Tuna and potato salad - i was worried about this dish but it was delicious. great balance with green olives and peas. 6) Spanish style meatballs - i normally have the italian style meatballs. there was not as much sauce but it had a great flavour. meatballs were well cooked well and had great texture. this will be my goto snack place when i'm in the area. next time i'm going to go back and try our some of their wines too. read more

I am in shock that our bill for 2 people came to 100GBP. How is that possible? We had a bottle and a carafe of wine (but the bottle was only 25 GBP) so how did we eat that much worth of food? A little slider here, a little salad there, some patatas bravas, some mini tacos.....it's not like we left with our bellies exploding. The quality probably didn't match the price. And when you sit at the tables the wall juts out, so they aren't the most comfortable tables and stools. The service was not so great. If I am going to spend that type of money I'd go down the street to Barrafina and get mind-blowing food. Or go around the corner to Opera Tavern. I'd say pass on Condesa, even if you are on an expense account. read more

We were looking for a friendly place to enjoy one for the road after dinner. We were tempted to join old faithfuls like Big Easy or La Perla when we spotted Condesa. A lovely small bar promising a less noisy end to the night. The fact that we didn't stick to one cocktail says it all, and I'd be glad to return for a taste of their delicious sounding dishes. Not sure which came first, but I this reminded me of the original Fernandez & Wells in Soho and I even thought the two were related - a compliment to both in this case. read more

Went here for dinner last night. Fabulous service and such a fun atmosphere. Very small, but it's all you need for delicious Spanish cuisine. We had a carafe of rose which was very affordability priced and refreshing for a hot evening. We then had a mixed cheese board, mixed meat board, bbq corn nuts and a tomato bread. The tomato bread was out of this world fresh! So incredibly simple but just perfection. Will continue to return to Condesa! read more

Do I start with "wow" or "yummm!"? This place may be our repeat place of London. There was a short wait (the place was tiny) but they were very hospitable. Octal the service was shockingly good, and the food excellent. We had great pan con tomate, octopus, and tuna tostadas, plus slow braised pig cheek tacos. The only thing that was average was the cocktails. They a bit pricey for not really mixologist quality. In any case, we'll be back (and try the sangria!). read more

Wow, I did not expect to find a place like this in London. A group of us happened upon this tapas bar by chance when we tried to go to the Porterhouse to watch the world cup final but didn't feel like being rammed in with hundreds of people. We saw this place a few doors down and they were about to put the game on so we sat down. There was one guy working in a tiny corner of the bar churning out tapas like a well-oiled machine. Cool and collected, this guy was fast yet every plate that came out was equally beautiful and delicious. It was a great night out and I can't recommend this place enough. We tried several things and everything was superb. I'm guessing there's not a bad dish here, so try whatever suits your fancy! read more

After spying 2 seats toward the back of this tiny Tapas place we took a chance and were delightfully surprised! The food was delicious, the interesting and tasty craft cocktails took the chill right out of our bones and the staff were friendly and quick even with the place being packed. An incredibly intimate, lively space with super friendly staff and an incredible flair for intensely flavored tapas. Don't let the somewhat limited menu deter you as they offer 5 or 6 daily specials which supplement the regular menu quite well. Don't miss the mixed board of dried meats with green olives and warm toasted but still chewable bread. Naturally the aged Manchego is required pairing for the mixed board, served with quince paste cubes...ask the bartender for some fresh rosemary to add even more flair! I ordered two specials, the pork cheek taco was the most tender, juicy, flavorful meat I have ever eaten.
