Came for a pre-dinner drink and nearly missed those reservations as we wanted to linger for longer in this gorgeously appointed space sub grade off the beaten path. It's surprisingly large for a space that oozes intimacy and the seating alcoves maintain a sense of privacy for its patrons. There's a sound buzz of chatter throughout though the noise level never seems to rise high enough that one can't hear her companions. Our foursome were seated around a table and promptly provided water and delicately commissioned book-menus similar to botanical drawings. This place is class all the way.
We went with the No. 2 gin martini (herb, grass, pine notes) and No. 4 Empire Old Fashioned w rum. We all were offered tastings of the rum prior to preparation, which in itself is described as a style rather than a recipe. The time undertaken for this approach is longer and thus a beer to keep the individual comfortable is provided. Unreal.
We also ordered fresh bread and pickles for the table which were indeed fresh, punchy and the olive oil extra virgin. There were no missteps here and my rating is one given w gusto. This place is one to bring for special occasions, when one wants to feel special, and certainly to impress. Go quickly but select w care w whom you share this exceptional spot. read more
