Flight Club has been floating around in the London media for some time now and I finally landed there this week and boy oh boy did things take off! (Too many flight puns? I think not!) We (15 of us) had an absolutely brilliant night. On arrival we were directed straight round to our large area with 2 dart boards. There was wine awaiting and the dart boards were all set up, we just needed to input our names (as you do with bowling). There are numerous games to choose from and you can play in doubles which means that up to 12-16 people can get involved - perfect for large groups! The magic of Flight Club is their automatic dart technology which calculates your score. Yes, we're in the 21st century people - no more chalk just sit back and watch those numbers fall. They also have a great selection of food. Their pizza paddles in particular were really good with toppings such as wild mushrooms, gorgonzola & rocket and cobble lane cured salami & mozzarella - this was a particular favourite of mine! The menu states that their for 2 people to share but they're HUGE - three people could easily share. I also really enjoyed the mini bruschetta with guacamole (yes I have a guacamole obsession, it's under control...I think). We all departed with smiles on our faces and feeling very merry indeed. (I just had to put that last one in!)

A great new darts club in East London...darts club you say?!? Yes, we're living in the post darts age where pretty much every darts board has been fazed out of all the pubs around, but thank God we have hipsters to repackage it and sell it back to us.... Saying that - it's good, this is a repackaging worthy of the Stones and Blues music as it kept our group of 12 happy for at least 2.5 hours. We hired 2 oches (think area - pronounced ockey if you're like me and had no idea what the hell was going on when I booked...) and from here put in a pre-order for some food. The dart boards are all hooked up to a giant electro screen and they do the maths for you (no embarrassing moments spending 5 minutes trying to take 5 from 400 in front of your pals...) and it's pretty much like bowling with the way it's interactive and prompts you when it's your turn. As well as standard darts there were games like killer where you could have a variety of styles and contests to play. The beer and wine went down well (pale ale was nice) but a number of us did think the pizza was a little too dry and thin, not the best I've ever had tbh... Looking forward to going back, very friendly staff too.

This place is awesome! I was dubious about cling to a bar with darts, but this is more like the All Star Lanes, or Lucky Strike of darts! It's so fun! Everything is electronic, so makes for score keeping much easier. It's centered around the darts experience and they have many booths where you can reserve ahead of time and play a few rounds. The screens also explain to you how to play, which is great! Service was good too. Lots of waiters and they have two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs, with food too. They also added outdoor seating recently. I want to go back. Highly recommended.

I hadn't heard of this place until I got invited along with some people from work. I did a bit of research before we went, and was looking forward to it! It didn't disappoint! If anyone has gone to Top Golf before, it reminded me of that-but for darts! And you can't go wrong with food, drink, darts and friends all in once place so this place 180% (see what I did there) lived up to my expectations. It's the perfect venue for a get together and something a bit different to do. The staff were great, always on hand, drinks were good, food was okay-what you would expect. But the real points come from it's originality and the really good vibes you get-hearing people cheering and really having a good time-something London often lacks on this miserable December nights. Make sure you book as this place is filling up quickly!

This is a great new place to go with friends. Each oche (which is, like, a darting arena) can hold up to 12 people, and at £25 an hour, that means that if you have a full house it's only about £2 each (and only about £4 if there's 6 of you!). I think that's really good value, when you compare it to things like bowling or the various mini golf places popping up. I'm no dartster, so was a bit worried that I would be crap and/or find it boring, but it's sufficiently varied with different games and options to play in teams to keep the interest going, and of course the computerised scoring is an added bonus. The system worked smoothly, even if you did have to use a selfie taken at the least flattering angle possible as your avatar. Food and drink isn't cheap but isn't horrifically expensive; I enjoyed my chicken burger. It's easy to order (perhaps too easy) as you can summon wait staff to your oche with a button. I did this as a team night out, which I think worked very well, and with space for 12 and the option obviously to book more than one oche, I think it suits this sort of vibe excellently. The booking was smooth, though I found it a little strange how ardently I was told to book food and drink in advance (which needs to be done at least 48 hours in advance), as if it would be difficult to do on the day, whereas in reality it was completely straightforward.

What a great place, makes darts possibly the best pub game going after this reinvention of the game! Brilliant!

25 GBP an hour to play darts. Overpriced. Loud club music. Don't come here if you like to play darts.

I got the bangers and mash while by wife got the cottage pie. I think I got the better meal as the sausages were really tasty and the whole grain mustard in the potatoes was a great way to elevate the potatoes. Her cottage pie was fine but didn't have a ton of flavor. Food came out surprisingly quickly, but we also had an order of chips which was crazy slow to come out of the kitchen. The chips were quite good but we'd both finished our entire meals and most of our beers by the time we got them. Beer options were solid, some good German choices. Beer was cheap too.

This place is not trying to play up on an image like many of the bars in this areas and sticks instead to the important business of being a damn fine pub. Being quite small there is a naturally cosy feel to the place and this is complimented by the decor wuth lots of wood panelling and comfy seats. The bar has a great selection of draft and bottled beers and, for the summer months, there is an excellent beer garden. I've yet to try the food but they do serve traditional pub grub between 12 and 5 Tuesday through Sunday. With a great atmosphere, warm and friendly bar staff and an excellent range of drinks, The Carpenters Arms is a brilliant place for a relaxing evening or a great stop-in after a hard days shop.

But, the chaos I walked into on a Sunday has ensured that I never walk into a crowded pub like this again. It took almost 15 minutes to flag down one of the servers to ask about getting a table, to which I was told, "If you see a spot, grab it." As soon as I saw a couple get up I threw my stuff down- hoping it wouldn't get stolen- and went to order at the bar. That took another 5 minutes. Given how crowded it was, I ended up having to share my table with 4 other people; which wasn't bad, until I ended up getting my food more than 15 minutes after I'd ordered it, and then realized I was the only one eating at a table full of strangers. The food itself wasn't bad, but for a pub that claims to have the best Sunday Roast in London, it certainly didn't compare to those that don't claim that and are less of a hassle to eat in. And at £17 a pop, you can bet the experience wasn't worth it for some chicken and Yorkshire pudding.

About a week ago, I made the mistake of ordering some Nachos here. Honestly the saddest plate of…read moreNachos I've ever come across. The best description of it I can make is that it was that someone poured a bag of tortilla chips onto a plate, squeezed some awful American-style runny cheese over it all, then put some ready-made shop-bought guacamole on one end, what looked like ketchup but was salsa on the other end, and then the largest dollop of sour cream (almost tasted like fresh whipped cream somehow) in the middle. There was no attempts to layer anything. It was served on a baking tray which I can't really explain seeing as it was all completely cold. And they cost £12.50 which, tbh, is a disgrace. They were unfortunate to say the least. I should have sent them back but I was so hungry that I tried to make the most of it. Unrelated, but the bar staff were lovely, I'm sorry I had to give a bad review based off the food.

The place is old and run down, just like almost everywhere in this little pocket of East London, but rather then struggle against this handicap the pub has perservered and shone through as a local boozer where everyone knows one anothers name... and an outsider isn't always welcome. I ignored the alarms going off inside my head as I took my seat, watched beadily by about 10 locals all sitting at the bar swearing at each other. I was in their end now, so I have to be careful... The bartender however could not have been nicer, even when I was just sitting in there to watch the cricket (I came back later for a pint as homage to this good service.) The TV is projected (sports) onto a big screen and Led Zeppelin/David Bowie screams in the background.. awesome. Their are boxing posters all over the wall, looking back to a time when boxing was still a huge part of East End culture. An excellent little boozer.

Finally, last week, whilst waiting in the arctic London temperatures, I decided it was better for both my body and spirit to wait inside. So into the Salmon & Ball I went. And it was rather pleasant. A traditional East-London boozer with the usual smattering of cool boys and old men that look like they've been glued to their bar stools since the late 60s. Bar staff were really friendly and my pint was ice cold, so no complaints here. A far better alternative than standing on the street!
