    The beer on tap menu!!!
    Christoph N.

Wow. Well here we go...I was sure there were some hidden gems around Bethnal Green area that I still didn't know about...and Mother Kellys is one of them. It's pretty simple, once in front of those fridges full of belgian/german/uk beers, I didn't know where to look or to start...sooo much choice, and that's just talking about the bottled! Look behind the counter, and check out all those drafts! So if you're like me, lost in beer translation, tell the guys what you like and they'll be able to help you out! Love the idea of ordering half pints, which puts the focus on discovering more than binge drinking, and that terrace is just mega! Group of colleagues or a birthday to plan? Book one of the huge communal tables inside.

    Which tap to chose

Can't wait to go to this place in summer! Great outdoor area and a welcoming open indoor space that is subtly set up like a beer garden. That being said it's still warm and cozy inside on a cold night. There are 20 taps with a changing line up of beers to chose from and then a long wall of bottled beers. These are available for take away too which is excellent because committing to just one or two beers here is seriously difficult. Lots of local as well as international brews to pick from and the staff are there to help you chose. And the staff know their beers. If you ask nicely they will let you try a bit before you buy... This is why I like to sit at the bar. Platters and beer snacks available including the good old peanut option, charcuterie plate and a cheese plate. Good spot to have a settle in session or just a quick tipple after work or pre Mission.

This turned out a little more vividly coloured than I'd expected!

The rooms are ok so nothing stellar but very nicely appointed with tea and coffee. 5 plus restaurants on property which can hit every price point. The spa and gym are top notch. In 9 out of 10 interactions, the staff were genuinely excellent--warm, attentive, and clearly trained in the fine art of making guests feel like royalty (as you'd expect at this price point). There are multiple restaurants and bars to choose from, a steady stream of live music drifting through the late afternoons into the evenings, and quite possibly the best cleaning and turn-down service I've ever encountered--truly next-level pillow fluffing. Now, my one gripe: the light--or lack thereof. Despite having three decently sized windows, they're covered in a mysterious film that blocks natural light more effectively than blackout curtains ever could. It gives the rooms (and oddly, the lobby too) a slightly subterranean vibe--perfect if you're a vampire, less ideal if you're someone who enjoys knowing whether it's day or night.

We went with three different options from their tasting menu/cocktail tour, and were wowed away by each and every round of the molecular cocktail experience! There were a range of flavours, temperatures, liquors, flavours and modes of "drinking" each of the rounds. Situated in the Shoreditch area, the location is great! The decker is also very trendy with the dimly lit speakeasy vibe. The service was great. Cannot wait until I'm in London again to go back and try another one of the options on the tasting menu.

The space isn't a true speakeasy as there's a clear entrance you go to, vs finding the secret entrance and all that jazz. Aside from that, the vibe is moody and chill. Menus are in the books at the tables. They offer ala carte drinks or you can choose their 5 drink tasting menu which is popular. We all got the tasting menu, every person getting a different theme. Drinks are creative, whimsical, fun and playful. I'm not much of a drinker so I was concerned this would be a bit much for me, but this is about the experience, the drinks werent too big or overly boozy, or anything. The themes from the 39 euro tasting menu are: 1. Cocktail history. This is the most traditional drink direction 2. Naughty childhood. Drinks are candy and dessert based. Not necessarily overly sweet so don't worry about that. 3. Nature. 4. West meets east. Asian themed drinks. This was most creative and I wish I got this one. 5. Gourmet. French themed. This is the one that didn't get chosen from our group. 6. Get ready and go. London themed. All the drinks were super creative. There was so much thought around presentation put into them. And they update their drinks regularly. I'll definitely come back so I can try more of the other themes. Note. They have very very minimal snacks available so make sure you eat ahead of time.

This hotel was once a bank, and the conversion to a 74 room hotel was well executed. On the negative side, the sound insulation between rooms is inadequate, and the HVAC system is not equipped from very hot weather. Although not without flaws, Threadneedles impressed me overall. Arrival: Friendly and helpful doorman Check-in: Efficient and friendly check-in. Acknowledged my Marriott status. Room (314): Nice king room with all the usual appliances including Nespresso coffee maker, tea kettle, mini-refrigerator, iron, TV, etc. Bed: Good king bed, decent linens. Sleep quality: overall good but the walls are paper thin. I was fortunate that the neighboring rooms did not have noisy occupants at night. But in the morning, I could clearly hear a parent in the adjoining room lecturing his young daughter. Bathroom: Spacious bathroom with excellent tub. Housekeeping: excellent housekeeping service and turn down service. Service:Overall excellent service HVAC: I visited during a record setting heat wave in London, and the HVAC system in the room was completely inadequate. The room was hot the whole time. Fortunately, staff brought me a fan, the fan and my extreme fatigue were the only factors that allowed me to sleep the first night. Seriously consider another hotel of London is experiencing a heat wave. Tips: (1) I was able to take the train from Heathrow (had to change to a second train at Paddington), and it was an easy walk from the train station to the hotel even with a large suitcase. (2) There's a great pub 1 block away called The Counting House. (3) Threadneedles is in the heart of the financial district. Many pubs and restaurants in the area are not open on the weekend.

Upon walking in, you are greeted and in awe of the beautiful sitting area with its amazing stained glass dome. I found myself in awe each time I walked through. The rooms are also exceptional. Very tastefully decorated and not over the top, as some other higher-end hotels seem to be, lately. I also found that the cleaning service and turn-down service were magical. I don't know how they seemed to know when I had left my room, but upon my return it was always clean, and at night the turn-down service was a lovely surprise to find a small mint and a linen mist on my pillow. Now let's talk about something which is an often-overlooked feature of a hotel stay: the breakfast. This is typically a throwaway perk that anyone who travels a bit understands. At best, it's a spread of cereals and maybe a bagel or two. Most of the time it's served in a crappy lobby with coffee that has been sitting there for hours and servers who want to be anywhere else but there.  It usually screams, "Eat fast.  Please leave." Not here. Oh no. Even the breakfast is next level here. Sure, it contained all the normal things you would expect, such as bagels, toast, and cereal, but then they took it to the next level with some beautiful doughnuts, sliced meats and some cheese, yogurt with all the toppings you could want, and a beautiful selection of sliced fruit. However, what really made the breakfast experience phenomenal were the people. Specifically, Amesh, Epon, and Mohin. Each morning when I would walk through the doors, I would be greeted, and they would immediately take a coffee or tea order to go make it themselves. They were also incredibly friendly and attentive. I found their smiles infectious and a great way to start the day. This type of attitude was prevalent amongst all the staff.  They were simply the friendliest people of my day, and that really meant a lot when you are thousands of miles from home, in a city you don't know, by yourself.  Thank you!
