This was, hands-down, the single most beautiful hotel that I have ever stayed in. The staff was exceptional. Everything about the hotel was beyond first class. Upon walking in, you are greeted and in awe of the beautiful sitting area with its amazing stained glass dome. I found myself in awe each time I walked through. The rooms are also exceptional. Very tastefully decorated and not over the top, as some other higher-end hotels seem to be, lately. I also found that the cleaning service and turn-down service were magical. I don't know how they seemed to know when I had left my room, but upon my return it was always clean, and at night the turn-down service was a lovely surprise to find a small mint and a linen mist on my pillow. Now let's talk about something which is an often-overlooked feature of a hotel stay: the breakfast. This is typically a throwaway perk that anyone who travels a bit understands. At best, it's a spread of cereals and maybe a bagel or two. Most of the time it's served in a crappy lobby with coffee that has been sitting there for hours and servers who want to be anywhere else but there.  It usually screams, "Eat fast.  Please leave." Not here. Oh no. Even the breakfast is next level here. Sure, it contained all the normal things you would expect, such as bagels, toast, and cereal, but then they took it to the next level with some beautiful doughnuts, sliced meats and some cheese, yogurt with all the toppings you could want, and a beautiful selection of sliced fruit. However, what really made the breakfast experience phenomenal were the people. Specifically, Amesh, Epon, and Mohin. Each morning when I would walk through the doors, I would be greeted, and they would immediately take a coffee or tea order to go make it themselves. They were also incredibly friendly and attentive. I found their smiles infectious and a great way to start the day. This type of attitude was prevalent amongst all the staff.  They were simply the friendliest people of my day, and that really meant a lot when you are thousands of miles from home, in a city you don't know, by yourself.  Thank you! read more

We booked our room just a few hours before our arrival. We were only here for a night to be near NYE fireworks. We already had our main hotel room across the Thames. Upon booking our room using the Marriott Bonvoy app, there was no indication that we had to pay an extra £105.25 on top of our point redemption; not on the app, not on the email confirmation. Upon checkout, we were told we didn't owe anything. When we were emailed our folio with the charge, we called the hotel and they said they would email us. No email came. We will have to find a resolution for this. If we had known there would be an additional charge above the points redemption, we would have just stayed at our other hotel room. The place had some nice architectural details, but everything else inside needed to be replaced. They looked old and dated. Also, I posted this review on Google maps. Looks like they deleted it. Update: We spoke with Marriott Titanium customer service. The hotel eventually credited us a week later, claiming it was a mistake to charge us. The funny thing is we lost almost $2 USD because of the change in the exchange rate. read more

Beautiful hotel with wonderful service. The hotel building is a former CitiBank. The entryway and restaurant are highlighted by the stained glass dome. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of port. There was even a strip with various outlets (including US) which made charging and using beauty tools very easy. Breakfast service was always wonderful. Prompt and fresh food. The location is very central with restaurants, big name businesses' headquarters, shopping and the Thames within walking distance. The service was very attentive and detailed. I really enjoyed the turndown service and the green practices. read more

The Threadneedle is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a historic building that does not appear to have been designed to be a hotel. The library lounge has a beautiful dome and it was a nice place to visit with clients and the rest of my traveling team. But the hotel has challenges such as the building support beam in the shower that narrows the width to just over two feet. You have to step out of the shower if you drop something or want to turnaround. The rooms have an outlet / socket shortage which forced me to sit on the floor to dry my hair. I couldn't charge my devices overnight by the bed which assured I woke up because I had to walk across the room to get to my charging phone. I was part way thru when I asked if there was a desk outlet which they had to show because it was hidden behind a wooden wall panel which I would not have expected to be removable. The rooms are small but beautiful and comfortable including the desk chair (a rare treat these days) and bed so I was able to get a good nights sleep. The bar and restaurant have limited but good food choices but anyone with allergies should avoid eating there because the staff is inexperienced and I had to remove the food elements I told them I was allergic to. People with Crohns disease should not eat here. They should also end each food choice with surprise because the same food varied greatly each time it was served but it was always good. I had problems with charges to my room which should not have been there but most were removed. The hotel offers zero benefits to elite members and I was charged the same as other guests including breakfast which should have been included in my room rate. Make sure to get a copy of your hotel folio because they did not mail it when I checked out. There are great hotel choices at far lower costs. This was my only choice due to short notice. My entire team moved to other hotels over a range of issues. I recommend you stay away from this hotel because beauty can turn out to be Pandora's box. read more

This is absolutely not a 5-star property experience. Upon arrival, there were 3 people at the front desk - a super stressed out looking manager and 2 trainees. We were checked in by the 2 trainees who clearly had no idea what they were doing - they almost charged us for the room again even though it was already pre-paid. While the two trainees were struggling, the manager was just standing there and did not intervene even as we were getting visibly frustrated having arrived after an 11-hr flight. The rooms are spacious, but bathrooms are gross - both the sink and the shower did not drain properly. We will not be staying here again and I would not recommend this property for those looking for a comfortable experience, esp. for the price. read more

Sold like a 5 star but more like a 3.5 - 4 The room is cramped with outdated furniture. I had to be moved to another room because the toilet didn't flush properly and the knob on the sink was so lose that you couldn't turn the hot water on. I'm sitting in my "new" outdated room and the tv is on the fritz. Service here is excellent, bed super comfy and soap/shampoo etc all smell really nice. Just a heads up - not much open in this area during the weekend. read more

Wow! Just Wow! When you first walk in, I was blown away by the decor and the beautiful lobby. The front desk staff was so kind and our room was fantastic! The bathroom was huge as well as the closet, the bed and the room was enormous! I loved staying here. They had a great bar for drinks, we didn't get to partake in the tea time but it looks lovely. It was a great location just off busy streets so you had quiet when you wanted it. The underground wasn't far to walk too and great area to walk around. We will totally be back when staying in London! It is in the financial area of London, so things do close early and were closed for holidays so just keep that in mind when booking. read more

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business meeting in the area. I loved the hotel and the staff is amazing. The rooms even have Nespresso machines and they provide free water daily. The bed is amazing and the bathroom is spacious. The only issue I had was the WiFi was a little slow and the room was dark. read more

CONS The rooms are freezing. They offer a space heater because they know how cold the rooms are. The larger the room the colder - so my free upgrade was very nice of them, but came with a price. The internet is horrible. My phone was consistently outperforming the WiFi - weird for a business hotel. Also food is so so at best so you will want to look elsewhere. Neighborhood dining is limited on the weekend. PROS Building is pretty and rooms are well appointed. read more

The problem with some five hotels is that you go in expecting the Ritz and you actually get a four star with extra toiletries. This was very much the case at Threadneedles. We got a good deal for a Friday night in the city and were impressed on arrival - the foyer area and the dome are amazing. The check in was quick, polite and easy. Then we entered the room and saw the bathroom... Or rather the bathroom door. I do not understand why some hotels have a glass wall or door between the bathroom and sleeping area. It means that if one half of a couple uses the bathroom in the night them the bedroom is illuminated. In the case of this hotel, it was a glass door. But it gets worse: you see, the door was designed not to close. That's right, it was on a runner which had a stop some five inches from the wall A preventing the door from hitting the wall but also meaning that there is at least a gap big enough to shove your hand through at all times. It's a massive design flaw because now a couple is forced to listen in complete clarity to their other halves going to the toilet. That pretty much destroyed the ambience of the hotel for me. read more

We absolutely enjoyed the service here. Everyone was super friendly and nice! The hotel was clean and up to our standards. It's a smaller hotel with three levels, but it was super nice. I will say you have to walk to get to more food and shopping or use Uber a lot to get to the main areas. Carl and Berly were the best at the front desk and they were extremely helpful! I would highly recommend and it was decently priced for a five star hotel. read more

Threadneedles is a 5 star hotel but I would certainly say it's more of a 4 star in terms of rooms, service, and amenities. Let's start with the rooms, which are small and aging. There is way too much furniture in the room. The 42 inch TV is blocking the entrance to one side of the bed. All of the furniture shows signs of aging. They are in desperate need of a renovation. Keep in mind that you can't adjust the temperature of the room to a degree you prefer. It's set for low, medium, high. None of which were comfortable - either too hot, too cold, or too stuffy. The amenities: non branded bath amenities, no gym or spa. There is limited room service for late night eats. The service: we had a stroller and couldn't use the main entrance because it had a few steps. We used the side entrance with a ramp. Every single time we used the side entrance (just to the left of the main entrance), the doorman never helped us. We had to struggle to get the stroller into the narrow space and then open another door to get into the hotel. The elevators are quite small. The location is excellent. Closest tube is bank. Dead on weekends. Bustling on weekdays but within walking distance to many tourist attractions (think: tower bridge). Overall, I wouldn't recommend threadneedles. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. read more

The staff is courteous and the room was comfortable. I'd be sore if I wasn't travelling for business, as it was eye-wateringly expensive, so I guess it should have been nice. The restaurant is ecxellent as well. If you're staying here. have the Bonds bacon sandwich at least once. I still dream about that thing. read more

Set in a former banking hall, Threadneedles Hotel is absolutely magnificent. It easily has one of the most beautiful lobbies of any hotel, anywhere in the world. Crowned by its stunning domed glass ceiling, the lobby is a perfect blend of old world charm and modern chic, which no picture can possibly do justice. The old world charm meets modern chic theme is continued throughout the hotel, even the corridors have an unexpected splash of colored lighting, and the Bonds Restaurant & Bar, with its high ceilings and mahogany bar set against stained glass windows, perfectly connects the space's bank hall past with its luxury hotel present. The incredibly comfortable rooms have an understated elegance to them and offer every modern convenience a guest could need (Wi-Fi, cable television, coffee maker, etc.) and more (bathroom television). Coupled with the dreadful London weather, the cozy room almost kept this traveler from doing any actual sight seeing. The staff is very professional, courteous and attentive. Everything I needed, from restaurant recommendations and reservations to West End theater tickets was handled with impressive efficiency. Complimentary bottled water was automatically brought to my room throughout the day, and the only Spanish speaking person I encountered in the whole of London worked at the hotel's front desk. I will however caution travelers on a budget. While a stay at the Threadneedles Hotel is worth every cent, it is also worth a lot of cents. read more

Had a very nice stay in the City at this hotel. I used Marriott Rewards points and they upgraded me to a nice suite which was great. The hotel is nice and historic (old bank building), and the lobby dome is amazing. The front staff were very friendly. The rooms are all unique since they used to be offices, so I could imagine some rooms are tiny. My room was a little quirky with slanted walls following the roof lines, but it gave it some character. The bathroom was normal hotel sized, the only complaint I had here was T=the shower stall is a bathtub shower which only has a glass wall / shower curtain that covers 1/3 of the stall so it makes for a challenge of not spraying the rest of the floor, and the glass wall has an opening at the hinge which leaks water on the floor (had to keep a washcloth at that spot to limit the leakage). The hotel has free WiFi throughout which is nice, but it was spotty coverage at times and I had to disconnect/reconnect many times to get it kickstarted again both on my phone and my computer. I like that they offer free sparkling or still water delivered to your room each day which is quite nice. And they offer free breakfast for platinum reward members in the hotel restaurant (even on weekends) nice. The surrounding area sort of closes up at night since it is located in the business/financial district, so few restaurant choices unless you walk further west. But there a few pubs around the area are quite nice (The Counting House - Fullers Brews on tap... very nice). read more

Best Hotel I ever experienced. So pretty over the top service. I been to many hotels for travel and fun with friends but this hotel is far out the best hotel service and so pretty. It's a little outside of London central but very quite and impeccable hotel. Best hotel service I ever had here. 1st off they give you endless water bottles here. Which is not common for London. Water bottles cost 3-5 GPB in London. The front desk ladies gave me champagne anytime I ask them for free. The beds are so big and comfy unlike many other hotel in London that are small and rock hard. This hotel is expensive but thank god I got a great deal with it through Marriot Rewards. The bath rooms are so pretty have a huge bath tub and shower very elegant. Huge closets like 3-4 huge cabinets and very modern. Full stock bar in your room but I avoided that. I order an awesome steak from room service delicious and yummy fruit and a tiramisu. I had to go to Munich, Germany after London and hotel front desk let me do a late check out until 3pm for free and it was so helpful for me to get ready and finish packing my huge luggages. I hope I return back here for another awesome experience here. Hope to be back in a year or so. My husband and I chose Threadneedles through the Marriott Rewards Program. I kept comparing several hotels in London with this one. Eventually, the location was the deciding factor as I wanted to take my husband to the London Tower, St. Paul's Cathedral and other places I have been in my previous visit. All these were within close proximity from the hotel. We were absolutely thrilled to have chosen Threadneedles. The hotel staff were attentive, courteous and professional. They assisted us with our needs, from providing us umbrellas when we needed it to alerting us when our transportation was on-site/available. We also enjoyed having breakfast and dinner at their in-house Bonds Bar and Restaurant. Rates were reasonable and fair, I must say. Although the room was smaller than what we expected, its unique layout, furnishings and decor gave it quite a character. Knowing fully well that the hotel used to be a bank, I was quite curious with how it was transformed. The hotel's lobby is incomparable. I was simply blown away with the dome ceiling. Threadneedles is a solid, centrally located hotel that fits both the tourist and work traveler. I like this place a lot -- but It is not a five-star hotel. This is a nice place, but nothing about it is five star. Other than the location, there is nothing really special about the place. The biggest negative is that the front desk staff, whle being extremely pleasant, knows nothing about London or the surrounding area. So, they want to be helpful, but simply don't have the training or experience to actually be helpful. Tourist questions are met with blank stares and a quick attempt to Google the answer. Question: What's a good pub with English history we can walk to from the hotel? Answer: [Insert confused, pained look and Google search]. As for the positives: rooms are clean, if a little cramped. The central lobby area is cool and the bar are is nice. The location is perfect, steps from the Bank Station of the Underground. The service is accommodating and pleasant. They have reciprocity at a gym two minutes away that is exceptional. As for negatives: while the service is friendly they are NOT knowledgeable and they are not local. They want to provide helpful London insight, but they either brand new to England or simply know nothing about the city and the surrounding area. Huge drawback. read more

I was a bit let-down in general by our visit to Threadneedles. As a five star, I was expecting to feel like I was in a little slice of luxury. Instead, I just felt like I was in an adequate hotel. Check-in was smooth, with a lovely person on reception. I liked that you got to sit down to check in and relax for a moment, and of course the beautiful dome and the lovely scented air help the atmosphere! We had booked a discounted rate through a hotel app but we weren't treated like it at check-in. We headed over to the lift - which was quite tiny, if you're claustrophobic like me - and headed up to the third floor. We got a bit turned around in the spacious corridors and loved the signs at the doors with the lit up room number - until we found ours. We were down a little side corridor that immediately looked like a different place, room 317. We went in and - meh. The room wasn't very large, which is fine, but it just wasn't great. The desk was on the same wall as the bed, so the desk was actually my bed side table - so if my other half wanted to use the desk, he'd be right next to me while I was sleeping. There was no view out the window, but that wasn't a big problem. The TV seemed pretty small but we managed. The closet door wouldn't stay shut so the light wouldn't go off - I eventually rearranged the extra pillows and stuff that were pressing on the door and fixed it. The mini bar set up was impressive but the cupboard it was in wouldn't shut all the way, either. The biggest let down was the bathroom. The sliding glass door was SO LOUD when it moved and didn't shut all the way - so all the noises and smells of the bathroom came into the bedroom. Not to mention that a glass door on a bathroom, even when frosted, means light in the room when someone else may be trying to sleep. Our box of tissues in the loo only had 3 tissues in it. The toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. The 'hot' on the hot tap was missing. The shower had no grab rail, and the anti-skid things on the base of the tub didn't extend to the back of the tub where you get in and out. It was actually quite hard to get out of the shower, as once it was wet it was all very slippery. Check out was a pain. We had to wait - even though we just wanted an express check out - and when I asked to give my Marriott number, the person at check out was very rude and condescending about our cheap rate and said we wouldn't get any points - the message wasn't the problem, but the way it was delivered. I'm sorry, but a pair of slippers and an overstocked minibar does not a five star hotel make. Had I come expecting a four star, I would have felt better about it all... read more

This is my first tie in this hotel ( and my first time writing a bad review ). This is rated as a 4 start hotel or better. The service is just mediocre, especially in the restaurant that is "attached" to the hotel. Today, the water is out, so no showers, using the toilet etc. No ETA to be fixed and I leave tomorrow for my long day flight home to the U.S. It looks as though the water may not be back on before I have to leave for the airport tomorrow. To make matters worse, there is no wifi in the hotel. No eta to get it fixed and to be honest it has been slow as hell my entire stay going up and down. It is hard to believe for the rates these guys charge that the wifi service is so bad! Today is Sunday, i have to get work done and the only suggestion the front desk had was to go to a hotel 10 min away and sit in their lobby and use their wifi...........so here I sit, in that hotel,in the lobby trying to get work done...............not the best environment that is for sure. On the plus side, this hotel is very nice, chic and modern -- Andaz Liverpool. I will be staying here on my next trip to London next month! My recommendation for business travel, avoid the Threadneedles Hotel! read more

I got to stay here for free!!! But, yes I hear it's expensive. The Threadneedles Hotel was an old bank if I remember correctly. (glasses) The dome ceiling is amazing and the rooms were beautiful. The bathroom was sooo nice. There was a TV in the bathroom which made bringing a book to the bathroom pointless. I got to watch music videos while showering. (I don't get out much) I could have spent days in the room watching rugby, the news and the discovery channel. The restaurant in the hotel was really good. Just a note... ask for extra syrup if you order the "American breakfast" which is waffles and bacon with a thimble of syrup. My favorite part about the Threadneedles Hotel was Ben. Loved the location near the Bank Tube. Rooms were spacious. Beds very comfortable. Showers and towels perfect. Room service fast and delicious. Close to St. Pauls' Cathedral, eateries and shopping. The real secret to this hotel is the staff. Just helpful, kind, and attentive. From check in to check out. Even found me a salon for a hair blowout for New Year's Eve! With the choices for hotels unlimited in London, we chose perfectly. I would highly recommend this property. read more

The restaurant was just so-so nd was not recommended by the desk staff, but don't let that put you off there is a Burger & Lobster right across the street. We got a fab deal at this hotel our deluxe room was £150 (usually £400) im not sure i would pay £400 but for £150 it was a fantastic stay. Located near Bank station its perfect for the city area and right near tube station and bus stops. The hotel is rated as 5 star i feel its more a good 4 star but thats not a complaint. its because there is no stuffiness to the place at all. The rooms are well decrated and all have a large bath with a tv in the bathroom the mini bar etc is well stocked and the bed very comfortable. The room was very very cold and thats my only complaint as the windows are old and not double glazed. The resturant adjoined to the hotel is Bonds and islovely but a little pricey even for breakfast, cocktails in the bar will cost £30 for a couple with service charge so the prices are 5 star atleast. In th foyer is the famous dome ceiling and sitting under this with a glass of wine is lovely the hotel is very relaxed and welcoming with great staff so I would certainly return. read more
