Stayed here for a work trip and really enjoyed it. The rooms were much more spacious than the citizen m I stayed at in Paris. Large comfortable bed, which a huge window that offered a decent view. Pre-COVID review: Check-in is on the second floor (not the ground floor). There's a employee nearby to help with check-in but it's mostly self sufficient for you to check in on our own. The room was much more spacious than I thought, given that the large bed takes over the entire space by the window. There's a small fridge to hold your snacks and drinks. We got 2 free bottles of water included with our stay. The bathroom doesn't include conditioner or lotion, only 2 types of shampoo/shower gel in bathroom (morning and evening). Also, the "bathroom" is just the shower area and toilet in an enclosed space, with a curtain that separates the two. The sink is outside the bathroom and has its own soap. The shower has a rainfall showerhead and hand held shower, which worked for the two of us, as BF likes the rainfall one while I preferred the latter. While the room was functional for what we needed at that time (a short stay in London before heading over to Paris), it's not the best choice if you are looking to share a room with a friend nor if you want a little more space or privacy between room and bathroom. Can't beat the convenient location, though the street outside is horrible for maneuvering large luggage. read more

Second update This was a delight. Fresh jugs of water daily. Cafe on first floor. Security on elevator, card access only. Great sleep for our first week. We might so Tower hill next time , closer to the tube. This was ten minutes to Liverpool street station. Easy and few turns. read more

I don't rate often but my goodness this hotel was perfect for my work trip. While this hotel was centrally located I was not thrilled about the service. The room itself was decent enough for a short stay, and had things plug locations smartly located and allowed all international plugs not just the UK claw. I didn't though like how my window look directly at a brightly lit ad that didn't turn off until 2am which was obnoxious and using the blackout curtain would prevent sunlight the next morning. Service wise they want to be self check in but everything ran so slowly, and the internet was slow too. Otherwise does the job for a homebase in London for a quick trip! read more

My recent stay at CitizenM Shoreditch was outstanding. Location was perfect. The bed was so good for my back that I actually left a hotel with my back pain gone for once. The staff here was amazing. They went above and beyond in helping me. And the female Eastern European bartenders were so pleasant to talk to while having a nightcap after a long day. Love this cute and curated hotel. Lots of seating for people working in the main areas, easy to access food and drink. The check-in process is super smart and tres tech forward. Build for an international audience, people who don't speak english can check in so easily. Rooms and small and well laid out. Bed is massive and comfy. Decided to spend the night in London for NYE. Booked this room within 2 weeks and it did not disappoint. Check in is all automated with 1 person working to assist if needed. Option for late check in is available for £29. The room was easily the best room I stayed in while in London. The temperature, blinds, tv, etc were all controlled by the rooms iPad. The curtains were black out which is a huge win. Water pressure and temperature were amazing. The hotel bar was also 24 hours! Check out was super easy as well. We absolutely loved our stay at this modern and hip hotel right in the heart of Shoreditch. The check in process was easy, our room was spacious enough for the two of us and the bed was quite comfortable in the little nook they create for it. Yes I had to hurl myself over my man in the morning as the bed is pushed against the far will and is squished between two walls but, thats kinda what makes this place fun. If you are looking for a spacious room with the traditional furnishings, this is def not the place for you. We loved our time here and would certainly return. You are in walking distance to all the amazing restaurants and bars and everything was open late or is it early into the next morning. read more

Stayed here for a week while traveling on business. My co workers had recommended it because it's a 5 minute walk from the office and a pretty hip hotel. Figured I would give it a go! Upon arrival, I quickly realized this is not like any other hotel I have stayed at. The lobby is up on the first floor and they have a large living room style area, bar that is open 24/7, and music playing all day and night. They also have a self service check in which threw me off. Not to mention it was down when I arrived at 1:30am, but the staff was nice and made me feel comfortable while they dealt with the outage AND a mistake my booking agency through work made with my reservation. The rooms are interesting! Not a standard room, nor even a Euro style room. They are small yet have a massive bed! Everything is controlled by an iPad so this might be a great hotel for millennials. The bed was very comfortable and I liked how I could easily connect my iPad's Netflix movies onto the tv. The shower/bathroom was tiny but I'm a total snob when it comes to proper water pressure and this hotel had amazing pressure! They don't have room service, you have to go down to the first floor and order food to then take up to your room. The food is not that great. Edible, but nothing I would crave. Tried their nachos ( not real nachos!), their seafood stew (edible), their burger ( large and ok). Their bartenders are great to chat with and they have a lot of grab and go stuff that in my opinion was way better than the cooked food! They also don't have an iron board to take to your room. However, they do have at the end of each hallway an ironing/steam room. Checked it out once and the iron didn't heat up too well. Of course the one time I forget to pack my steamer! But I managed to survive! Pretty decent option if you're staying in Shoreditch. Around the corner from AMAZING food and roughly a 30 minute walk to Tower Bridge or St Paul's ( opposite directions). Hour walk to Big Ben and that mega touristy part of town. read more

Great location in Shoreditch. Modern hotel bit hyped i.m.o. Small room with a bed between the walls against the window. Person on tbe window side has to climb over the other to reach the washroom. Shower in front of the washroom, so and floor stays wet for long time due to.lack of ventilation. So need flippers to reach the toilet. Lights, heating with a tablet. Couldnt find a way to.only switch on in the washroom. It was all lights on or all of. Not very convenient and i have seen better software for this. So location is a plus this test bit disappointing. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed my stay. They offer self check-in with an attendant readily available to walk you through. After retrieving the reservation we made our own key cards right there. It was pretty cool! The vibe is very hip. Lots of space to lounge and drink or just work. The wifi is free and doesn't require a password. We stayed on the west side facing buildings and the view was nice. The room was compact but nice and clean. There are ample plugs including USB and western outlets. The rooms are equipped with smarthome technology linked to the iPad in your room. With the tablet you can lower the blinds and black out curtains, turn the lights on/off, set the mood lighting and control the television. We received drink coupons at check in and had a drink at the bar. Both my boyfriend and I liked our cocktails. They don't offer room service but there is a 24 hr canteen that offers drinks, packaged snacks, sandwiches, cakes and an impressive salad bar during the day. The canteen is self service and you take your items to the register to pay or charge to your room. Overall the hotel is really nice. I would recommend it for travelers looking for a centrally-located hip hotel with a younger crowd and nice vibe. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind small quarters. Our room was wonderfully efficient, although it's a bit inconvenient to have to climb over your significant other. The wifi was great, the lobby had great snack options, and they offer a deal (free use) with the neighboring gym. If you're travelling solo, the compact (read: tiny) rooms are perfectly comfortable. I wouldn't want to try it with two people, however. The bed is comfy the automated temperature controls in the room work great and there's a little fridge with (free!) bottles of water. Wifi is top notch! The neighborhood around the hotel is super hip - some great shopping and general vibe. At night, though, the club across the street and the hotel lobby pump LOUD house music. Even on the fourth floor, it kept me up. No room service, but there's an a la carte area in the lobby where you can buy food (tip: it's pretty terrible, but will do in a pinch). This place has all you need for a comfortable, hip and convenient stay.Around the corner from Box Park, citizenM has cozy 1-2 person rooms with huge, cozy beds and large windows with excellent views depending what side you face. I loved the i-pad that controls the room and all its elements. Rooms come equipt with ambient/mood lighting and nice size tvs with multiple shows to choose from (even some "adult" options lol). The lobby doubles as lounge/bar and restaurant. The music was always on point with classic hip-hop and soul playing constantly. Outside of the limited food options (standard British fare), this place was on point. I'll definitely check out this place if it's present in other cities I visit. Everyone is intelligent, smart, professional, competent, and with very worldly stories to share. What a top notch team of top notch individuals. . I have to say that Citizen M is one of the most unique, professional, cool, hip and caring hotels that I have ever experienced. For an upscale hotel, this one goes so far beyond both my expectations and my experience that I am struggling to find the correct words to express my approval and admiration. Let's start with the physical facilities; the hotel has smallish rooms, but that's intentional. You don't generally spend much time in a hotel room, so why waste too much space on it? Don't get me wrong, these rooms are luxurious and yet efficient at the same time. You control everything from an IPAD, but only if you want. You can go old school as well and use the wall switches and the like. However, I find that the IPAD is more elegant and efficient. For example, with the IPAD you can not only turn on and off the lights as you like, but you can create mood based color combinations of light from "party" to "sleepy" to "romantic." Furthermore, they provide perhaps the most fluffy comfortable towels I have ever used in an hotel. The main lobby isn't a lobby, it's a bar, a canteen, a restaurant, a collaborative work space, and a living room that is decorated with pop culture accouterments. I have yet to spend more than 20 minutes downstairs in this area without making friends. If you don't believe me, ask my three new facebook brothers and sisters, who I met at the bar. Don't ask what time we got home from pub hopping... and I was going to go to bed by 10 PM that night. Then there are the personnel. Perhaps I should say, my new friends who make sure that I have everything I could possibly need and each of whom I have gotten to know. Now, I got ill while staying here, in this foreign city, and they made sure that I was correctly navigated this strange, to me, healthcare system within minutes, including coming up to my room and helping me work with the urgent care medical staff over the phone. Not only that, but while I didn't say anything to anyone other than the one staff member who helped me, all of them knew I was sick when I returned from the emergency room and checked to make sure I was ok. Ive gotten to know several of them fairly well and I count them among my crew of fond acquaintances. They have made it very clear to me that while they are as professional a hotel staff as any I have met, they have an honest caring and affection for their clients. To sum it, If you are in the UK (where there are 3) or the EU or New York (more coming to America) THIS is THE hotel to be at if you want a wonderful, affordable, luxurious and hip experience and want to make new friends and business connections. There is so very much to like about this hotel. It's located conveniently in Shoreditch with a ton of places to eat, drink, etc. nearby... including a London Bike Hire stand right outside... and hiring a bike to ride around London is the best way to travel less to a nearby destination in London. The hotel is modern and clean. Yes, super ultra mega hipster. But if you're going to go hipster, you might as well go whole hog. The bar/eating area is vibrant and full of people at all hours. The staff is super friendly and super helpful. They seem to genuinely care about their customers. The check-in process is mostly self-serve which is freakin' AWESOME. There's somebody to help if you want it, but if you want to just swipe your card and choose your room, that's what you can do. The key-cards are RFID... no more erased cards... and my key card worked the first time on every door, elevator, etc. reader I tried it on. Yay! The room is small, but so amazingly well packaged, it felt perfect. The shower was the best hotel shower I've ever been in. The bed was glorious to sleep on. In most ways, I think CitizenM points to how hotels should be... so why only 4 stars. First, there's no coffee maker in the room. Yes, I get that they're trying to drive people to the restaurant and towards socializing. But I like to have coffee before getting dressed in the morning and the lack of coffee maker was a negative. Second, the fancy in-room iPad that controls all felt like an alpha version of software. The UI was complex and felt like a mish-mash of features. The features themselves didn't work very well. Sometimes the lights would go on instantly, sometimes it would take up to 15 seconds for the lights to respond. Not okay. And for some reason, many of the selections would cause the TV in the room to turn on. Finally, having an app running on an iPad gives me the creeps that the cameras are on and Big Brother is watching. Finally, the stool at the work-desk didn't have a back. I prefer a proper chair at my work-desk. Sometimes I spend hours working in a hotel room and a chair with a back is critical. So, if you have a chance, stay at CitizenM. The issues that knocked a star off are things that could be remedied. The overall execution is remarkable and I hope more business hotels adopt concepts from CitizenM. read more
