Small portions, high prices. This particular restaurant also adds in cramped spaces and lacks menu item availability, so it's difficult to find the plus-side for this one. Even the location is a bit out of the way, so if you're not already in the area, there's no reason to seek it out. The menu does boast a varied selection of meat, veggie, and fish-centered tapas, but not all of them are always available; even the drinks I was curious about were "out of stock," so I ended up having to go with their cheap wine, which made me wish I'd stuck with water. The food itself - while not bad - left something to be desired. Temperature and flavor-wise, it was all just "meh." The menu itself also lacks originality, so the fact that they were missing a portion of it just adds insult to injury. Perhaps it was because we were there on a Sunday evening looking for a quick dinner, but the service also felt forced and uninterested. And, for some odd reason, my friend and I felt hungrier when we left than when we went in. All-in-all, I found nothing here that made me want to come back. read more

I'm having a good laugh at myself because I dreamed of going back to Tapas Brindisa all through out 2020 and 2021. Fast forward to August 2022, I'm in London and determined to go back to this awesome tapas joint... and I go to the completely wrong place. Classic. So until I return to London, here is my review from 2018 (haha): This place caught our eye when we were looking for another restaurant. We sat outside, which was lovely (note: seating outside is extremely limited, aka two tables). We got the Gambas al Ajillos, Pan de Pincell and a pitcher of the red wine sangria. Wow! All were fantastic, especially the gambas. We basically were licking our plates by the end of the meal. It's a bit on the pricey side, but so, so good. read more

We went to 2 different locations when we were in London several years ago and we still talk about it. We are planning to return in December and cannot wait for the Spanish chorizo and garlicky shrimp. We will definitely be ordering extra bread to soak up that shrimp sauce! read more

Our family loved everything about this restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and offered great suggestions for top choices. We enjoyed a number of dishes. The CROQUETAS DE JAMÓN IBÉRICO were okay. The ESPINACAS A LA CATALANA (spinach) and MONTE ENEBRO (fried goat cheese) were our favorite dishes. TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA (Traditional Spanish potato & onion omelette), GAMBAS AL AJILLO (prawns) and ESPARRAGOS Verdes (asparagus) were delicious. Second time dining at this location, this time for a birthday celebration, and this visit left a little bit to be desired. Our waiter was incredibly kind and sweet and there was a bit of a language barrier... no problem at all with that, it's London after all! We encounter people from all over the world, I live in New York, happens ALL the time and happy to work with everyone to get everything right! I ordered a Gin and Tonic and the waiter brought over a Gin on the rocks. When I explained the problem, the manager came over, I explained I wanted a gin and tonic cocktail, not a gin on the rocks. Manager said what I ordered was a Gin and Tonic, NOT a cocktail, defiantly. Everywhere you can look, from Google to Wikipedia to Mr. Boston's Bartender's Guide, a G&T is a COCKTAIL. Made everyone at the table uncomfortable. Got the G&T. But the food is great, the ambiance is cute, the server was incredibly sweet and attentive despite the Manager's response to kick off the meal. Pan con Tomate, Pimientos de Padron, Manchego, Blue Cheese Croquetas, Monte Enebro, Garbanzos a la Catalina, but my fave is the Chorizo (sweet/ spicy/ rich/ delish). As a big Sherlock fan, I had to visit this restaurant during my first trip to London. This is the restaurant that Sherlock and John go into in "A Study in Pink" before chasing the taxi through Soho. They sit at a table next to the window, although now there is bar-like seating along the window. Dimly lit, busy, and elegant, this restaurant has an amazing nighttime ambiance that helps you wind down after a busy day in London. Grab a glass of wine and munch on an appetizer as you enjoy the passersby walking through Soho. The food was delicious. I had the pan de coca as an appetizer, the solomillo iberico albardado for the main course, and the tarta de queso for dessert. The management was also extremely kind. I had booked a table but had to move it up twice in the same day. I had requested that I be seated right next to the "Sherlock window" and the manager was still able to accommodate me! Overview: The atmosphere is like most of the tapas bar, nothing much special. We sat by the bar, so can't say if it is more intimate or romantic if you sit inside. Food is served in a way I like: one after another, we never had two plates on our table, but didn't wait for long for the next dish. I love everything we ordered, and more details below. So it is good if you want something casual to have, and it is not too pricy. Gambas: the oil was still boiling when it was brought to the table. It is a very common dish in a tapas bar, but it tasted better than average. You can tell the prawn is fresh, and the hot oil kept its original flavour together with the flavour of the spices. Pulpo: again, very common dish, but better than average. Cordero: it is ok, nothing too special about it, but tasty. Carrillera: I love it so much! I think it is slow cooked, and it is so tender! You could feel it is melting in your mouth! The flavour of the spices was not strong and it went very well with the meat. It came with mash sweet potatoes, which is creamy and soft. Love it so much! Presa: this is amazing! I am not a pork lover myself, but it is cooked in a so much tender way, and I have to say I love it! It is not far at all, but when you bite it, it is so juicy and creamy. I am not a fan of green peppers, but the flavour of the green pepper mixed very well with the pork. Definitely recommended! read more

Came with friends while in London whom have eaten here before so I was excited to try it since they really know their food and have great palates. Friday night and the plate was packed, wanted to sit indoors and was given an hour and 45 mins time allotment to finish dinner- that was fine with us because we were starving already. Our server was kind enough to split our bill beforehand and drinks were delivered at a reasonable timeframe. I ordered the patatas bavas, gambas al ajillo, octopus, Catalan spinach, and salt cod fritters. Everything was superb- portion size, presentation, and taste! Great for sharing and experiencing tapas at its best. The reason for not giving it 5 stars, after we finished the main course, dessert menus were given to us we didn't see our server for at least 20 minutes after. Flagging down another server to order desserts, our server finally shows up. She explains she had to take her break, on a packed Friday night at 8:30??? Not sure if this is a required routine or a whim because when we were finished with our main course, the hostess came to check on our table to see if we were finished yet. When we finally got to order our desserts, we chose an almond tart, and vanilla mousse with raspberry which were both delicious! The hostess came over again and had to run our check charges because our server was too busy- again feeling pushed out but was really was not our fault. Been in this business too long, if there is a time restraint for the table, the server should be informed and stay on top of it- don't make the customer feel like "eat it, and now beat it" Don't let my experience steer you away- the food, ambience, and decor will definitely keep you happy. read more

Spanish tapas spot with a small open kitchen Food: 4, Service: 4, Atmosphere: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 3.5 Return worthiness: maybe Highlights: - Cooked pork: really tender and delicious with cocoa and apple accompaniments. My friend was worried about the default rare on pork so negotiated to medium rare and it was divine. - Eggplant: sliced and cold and then put together and shaped. Nice flavors and I appreciated the salty tapenade on top. The grilled chewy olive oil dusted bread slices were the perfect pairing. - Jamon sampler: can't go wrong with Spanish ham :-) Midlights: - Shrimp: typically one of my favorites but these lacked any flavor even with the garlic pieces in the hot olive oil. Shrimp was a nice large size and springy cooked just right texture. Lowlights: - Sangria: in a champagne glass so bit hard to drink and recover the fruits. Not much flavor and oddly served with a straw. Some hits and misses, but would consider coming back for the pork and to try a few other dishes. read more

Brandissa should just stick to the stand at Borough Market because the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The service was terrible; we had to ask multiple times for things like a spoon for soup or drink refills. Other than the tortilla each dish was pretty flavourless including the octopus, pan con tomate, short rib and a few other dishes that were completely forgettable. The bill of nearly £200 for 4 of us (2 of the 4 who didn't drink) is a true sign of over priced rubbish. Don't waste your time when Barrafina is just around the corner!!! read more

We went for a very long and lazy afternoon lunch. I'm partial to tapas so the restaurant started with a couple of starts before I even entered. The space is light and airy. The back area has loads of skylights and an open kitchen so you know you're getting good clean food. We had a group of 8 people for lunch which was the perfect number. We were able to try all sorts of dishes... just small tastes. Although, I could have eaten my very own portion of the honey glazed goats cheese and the warm spinach salad. But I suppose that would defeat the idea of tapas. We started with breads, dipping oils, cold meats, cheeses, peppers and corn nuts, then moved on to Spanish omelets, chicken croquettes, prawns, scallops, salads and more cheese. We finished with an assortment of desserts; the flan, the moist chocolate cake and the plum compote were to die for. I'm a very picky dessert person so it's quite impressive for me to find three desserts that I really like, all in one place! All of this was accompanied by a lot of drink. We started with champagne, moved on to white and finished with a fantastic dessert wine. The pairings were perfect for the meal. I really liked it. I've been to the Borough Market branch and for some reason I found it less enjoyable that the Soho one. I went there with 2 more friends and we did have a good time. The ox cheeks were so so soft that it melts in your mouth. Pork belly nice and crispy. And the rest of the tapas were very very decent. I liked the small cozy atmosphere -- though I would turn the lights a bit down. As for the service - quick and efficient. On the arrival we were handed two half pints which were poured by mistake - a cool start for a good outing. We did have to wait about 40 minutes for a table while enjoying the free beer and sangria. And maybe I'm just not a fan of sangria - but it was too watery and too much fruit (I ended up with a cup full of just fruit and ice and no space for the actual drink). This is the real deal. Me gusta mucho. Muchobigtime. If you know the Tapas Brindisa spot at Borough Market, as you surely will, you'll have high expectations. You won't be disappointed. The menu reads like a poem. Waiting staff was lovely and hugely apologetic when they asked us to, well, get moving, after our 2 hours slot was through (actually, we were already 20min overdue). Beef stripes were heavenly, soft like well-cooked squid. Padron peppers are a staple, but do not fail to entice - that lovely mix of sweetness, spiciness, and saltiness; a green manifest of Umami. A leg of rabbit was tender, juicy, indecently so. We had red wine, and we had sweet wine for puds. Some had sherry before the affair had started. Choc puds made chatty girls tight-lipped and hoggish. Somehow I didn't mind. I was still licking my lips from the peppers. read more

This tapas place is conveniently situated just off carnaby street and is actually bit bigger on the inside than it looks. When you get through the door the whole room is bright and airy, felt more like a cafe but without the feeling of being over crowded as the tables were nicely spaced out so that you wouldn't be getting elbowed as your trying to eat. The grilled sea bass was tasty and the ham and cheese croquetta was delish! The staff were friendly and attentative, they were very obliging when we found our garlic bread to be to oily and changed it for us. This place seemed very popular during lunch time so can't imagine what it'l be like for dinner, prob more packed! Will be making another booking sometime soon me thinks! read more

Firstly, this place does not take reservations on a Friday night so we had to wait for our table. What else could we do but prop up the bar (once the space was available) and sample some wine. It didn't take as long as we thought for a table to become free and once we were seated, we set about ordering everything that sounded even mildly tempting. All of us are big charcuterie and cheese fans and the Iberico board was very generous and packed full of delicious meats. The cheese board was smaller but each cheese came with a suitable pairing like membrillo or fig. The croquettas are creamy and delicious and are worth a special mention! There were a couple more plates but the thing that was really special was the salt cod. This came up served with apple. Yes, fish and fruit. i thought the same, that cannot work but it does!! and it is delicious! A sentiment shared by all three of us initially skeptical women. I rounded off the evening with a crema catalana (shared between three!) and a sherry that touted itself as 'christmas pudding in a glass' and like the rest of the food, this completely delivered. read more

Having walked past this place a million and one times I had hopes of Tierra Brindisa. I'd read enough reviews by others to know that the back half with the bar was the best place to eat. And my forerunners were right; the airy second half of the room was a pleasurable light environment. We'd had no plans to dine out and as such hadn't thought of reservations, luckily it was relatively early and we were found a table for 3. The waitress who greeted us at the door was charming and accommodating, this trend continued throughout our meal. They smiled at our poor jokes, frequently cleared the tables and re-filled our glasses. To the dismay/confusion of my fellow diners I had already decided that choosing a wine would be easy. My theory that a good mid range European restaurant should have a quaffable fruity red under £20, perfect with tapas was met with a great house red (Tempranillo) at £16.50 (?). We opted for the staples of toast with tomato (what I've always known as Pan Tomaquet), and Potatoes with Aioli (not dissimilar to Patatas Bravas) for some starch to absorb the worryingly drinkable wine. They were both tasty well executed versions of their Spanish counterparts. We mulled over the cheeseboard, and having seen a few passed decided that it was quite possibly too much cheese for this occasion. Though having missed out, will mean that I'll inevitably have to go back. We opted for the deep fried goats cheese with honey and beetroot to ensure dairy received a mention. It was a beautiful combination of sweet/tart and creamy/crisp, and should rightfully spawn many a dinner party interpretation. We attempted to order the scallops from the specials, but were dutifully unformed that they had run out(read: some greedy person in front of us had eaten them all). All up we'd spent about £30's each had 2/3rd's of a bottle of wine and more food than you need in a day. Lovely service and great atmosphere, all in all a winning combination... 9/10 read more

It's small (it's Soho), but it's got decent tapas fare. I've eaten here twice. Once was just the other night, and I feel like the decor or seating arrangement had changed since the previous time, but I can't be certain. Everything came on time and tasted as I expected it. The service was OK, though the waitress was a bit awkward. She kept staring at me after I ordered, as though I hadn't spoken yet. Weirdo. Fair wine selection. Noisy crowd, both times I've been. And, the first time, I was with a girl who decided to cry during the meal. Not due to the food or service. It must have been something I did. That was fun. The servers were nice enough to leave us alone during most of it, so that was alright. Lastly, the front door doesn't close on it's own. Be a good lad and close it behind you, or your fellow diners (especially the ones in the front) might get chilly. read more

Was in town & met a mate who works in Kingly St for lunch. Cosy little place, bustling with lunchtime peeps. We ordered, Bomba(meat croquette), cuttlefish pasta, lemon chicken, potatas bravas, tortilla & catalan bread with tomatoes. It's actually pretty ironic that I made the effort to come here since, as a vegetarian, I'm not really a huge fan of the Spanish's jamon-based cuisine, and I don't even like Brindisa's sister stall at Borough Market at all (I tend to avoid any shop with garish pig legs on display) - but I didn't exactly put all those things together when I told my date to make a reservation (and definitely make one! Otherwise, you could be in for a two hour wait...) Rather, I was merely intrigued by this small and charming sage-coloured restaurant since it always looked so bustling and romantically lit inside - plus, I'd happened to notice that olives and cheese (practically my dietary staples) figured prominently on the menu. I made one foolish attempt to go here randomly with a friend ("sure," the hostess said, "we can get you a seat in a couple of hours" ha!) before I had a date ask if I had "any thoughts on a restaurant" (normally I hate that question!) to which I immediately responded, "Tierra Brindisa" - still rather oblivious to the fact that it had anything to do with that stall in Borough, or that it was London's newest Spanish tapas restaurant - I was *that* anxious to try it based on exterior looks alone. The inside is really small and intimate... with tiny tables appropriate for the little white plates of nibbles that follow. We started out with glasses of some rather enjoyable sherry and the Gordal olives (of course), which were splendid... substantial with a fantastic smack of orange - so good, in fact, that I'll probably come back just to have them again. Then came the spinach, which, as a huge spinach fan, it would had to have been pretty sub-par for me not to enjoy it, but this was really interesting and different - studded with pine nuts and some plump and succulent raisins. My date liked the bread with tomato (a traditional Spanish dish that I've never quite understood) and his lamb. However, neither one of us were particularly found of the lentil stew - the goats curd with it didn't quite work. But oh! the fried goats cheese with honey was the superb smash of the night! The absolutely perfect rich balance of sweet and salty. Although the service was a little slow (but nice), I found this to be one of the more brilliant tapas restaurants I've been to. If you're looking for something a bit different to impress a date with, this could be it. read more

I was taken here for lunch today by my Spanish boss, who assured me that - whilst not entirely authentic - it is nonetheless very good. And she's hard to please (I should know), so I'm inclined to believe her. As always with these places, the portions were disappointingly small and the prices disconcertingly high. The lamb cutlets were tender and juicy with a sprinkling of mint leaves and some sort of garlic butter but you only get two tiny little pieces. The octopus was yumsters. The chorizo on toast (it sounds a lot posher in Spanish) felt like it was missing something, but everything else was excellent. However considering it cost over £80 for four of us (one Coke each, no alcohol, no bottled water) and we had to stop off at the newsagent for an icecream to stave off the inevitable mid-afternoon hunger pangs, it kind of takes the mick. I also didn't like the fact that bathrooms look pretty from a distance but the taps are so low to the trendy trough basin that you scrape your knuckles on the stonework. It was representative of the whole tapas experience, actually; good in theory, bad in practice. Also bloody clever, because if you just keep ordering until you're full, the bill adds up at an alarming rate and you don't notice until you're handing over your credit card and wondering if it's too late to call the bank and cancel your account. read more

This was my first time at a Tapas Brindisa - and I really enjoyed it! The restaurant itself is quite cosy, but we were able to get a table as it Tuesday lunchtime (good time to go!) We (3 of us) ordered the ham croquettes, the cheese board, the bomba, a manchego salad, potatoes and the catalan spinach. We shared everything and it was definitely enough food for us! The croquetas de jamon were not what i was expecting, but they were delicious nonetheless! (I'm used to Cuban croquetas!) The cheese selection was very good, although it tended towards goats cheeses, so if you're not into that... oh well. The least enjoyable dish we had was the manchego salad- the dressing was a little oily and didn't have much flavour. everything else was great! they even brought us some more aoli sauce, which was super delicious. Tierra Brindisa is the spot for decent-to-pretty-good tapas in Soho. The menu is reasonable and the wine selection is fine (but lacking in by-the-glass options), but the experience was lacking in a way that I just couldn't put my finger on. A group of our colleagues meandered down to Broadwick Street for a nice tapas lunch not too long ago and ended up in the light, airy, but somehow still squished-feeling rear of the dining room. The server was nice, friendly, and helpful, but that's pretty much all I can remember about the service-element of the meal, for better or worse. The menu was similar to the service element in that I had to refer back to the website just now to even remember anything about it. Ah, yes, now I remember--pleasant, but unremarkable. There really was very little on the menu that piqued my interest the way that, say, the Stuffed And Honey Drizzled Courgette Flowers at Salt Yard can. All the tapas standards were there, except the patatas fritas that day, sadly. The fryer was broken and there was no way to improvise. I do remember the dipping oil for the bread being quite fantastic, but I'm not sure what it says about a menu that the only thing I specifically remember was the dipping oil. All in all, the meal was perfectly nice and not at all unpleasant. I think that Tierra Brindisa has perhaps been harmed by the prevalence of really extraordinary tapas restaurants in Soho such as Salt Yard and Dehesa because as lovely as it was, it doesn't hold a candle to either of its rivals. This is a high-3-nearly-4 star review I'm giving, but a few exciting additions to its menu would help move it up a bracket to a solid 4. read more

I should probably caveat that tapas is not my food of choice but friends seem to enjoy it so I will tag along. The food was good at Brindisa and I understand its popularity. The quality is high but nothing really stood out as amazing. The charcuterie plate was copious but the slices of meat were very thinly sliced. Too much so, in my opinion. I don't think they could have made them any thinner! Tortilla did what it said in the tin. I liked that is was a thickly cut wedge rather than some of the thinner pieces you sometimes get. Spinach salad with pine nuts and raisins was tasty but not necessarily anything to write home about. Prawns cooked with garlic could have had a bit more garlicky-ness to them but they were well cooked and not overdone. I enjoyed this the most. Ham croquettes weren't that interesting. Mushy potato with ham, deep fried with a crunchy coating. I should stop ordering these. They sound better than they ever are! It was a fine way to pass a leisurely lunchtime visit but I wouldn't make it a destination spot by my means. That said, if you are a big tapas fan, I think you will enjoy Brindisa. read more

I have enjoyed tapas in Barcelona and Madrid but Tierra Brandisi is as good as anything I've eaten in Spain. The food is delicious and it's difficult deciding what to order because everything on the menu looks fantastic. I recommend the pan fried sea bass with vegeatbles, olive oil mash and the prawns with garlic and chilli. If it's your first time eating tapas the staff are more than willing to explain the dishes. Not only is the food great but there is an excellent wine list although it is quite expenive and many are only available by the bottle. read more

Absolutely fabulous tapas! its a quaint little tapas bar with excellent service. The highlight of the place though was the food. The potato omelette was unlike anything we've ever had before it makes the standard stuff at other Spanish places seem like cardboard! The chorizo in cider was really delicious, the meat just melting in your mouth. But the highlight was the honey glazed fillet wrapped in aubergine. The meat was so tender and juicy, and the mango chutney that came with it was tantalizingly spicy. The only thing that disappointed was the toast with olive oil, which was rather burnt. We were surprised they got that wrong as its such a simple thing compared to the culinary delicacies we'd just eaten! Bill came up to around £45 for 2 with non-alcoholic drinks, a tad bit pricey but you do get good tapas! read more

Wrote a review for this place a few years back and had a bit of a moan about it. Came here a couple of weeks ago and had a much better time. The quality of the food was still excellent, but the size of the dishes had improved greatly from my last visit. My friend and I got in here quite late, but the manager was very accommodating. The place has had a refurb since I was last in, and seems a lot better for it. Part of the growing Brindisa empire, Tierra Brindisa in Soho takes things to a new level. You can book, which you can't for other tapas bars in this small chain. Brindisa (a small Spanish importer with a sideline in tapas bars) specialises in fresh, traditional and lesser known Spanish foods and wines. The results are tremendous. We had some of the following - olives stuffed with orange and dressed with pepper and crushed clove; carpaccio of cod with red onion and orange; spinach with pine nuts and raisins; potato omellette; scallop with garlic, chilli, smoked paprika and bacon. I'm sure there was more. Oh yes, marvellously mellow Rioja. Each dish was faultless. The service was flawless. The decor was without fault. Everything was lovely. Disabled access to the restaurant is available but as I recall, the loos are downstairs so not entirely practical from that POV. Very good food and service. It also seems to be a little less well known/appreciated as it was fairly easy to find a table for lunch. My only gripes are: -- overpriced (but hey its right off Soho square in London) -- seating is not that comfortable (esp. for larger groups) read more
