What a great tapas bar! It was a bit crowded and noisy -- I guess you'd expect that given the quality of food and servicio. I half expected a long wait for the food, but with the exception of dessert the food came super quick. The menu is not as adventurous as the sister restaurant across the street. The descriptions seemed pretty conventional. I ordered Baby Anchovies in Sherry Vinegar from the cold tapas menu, Fried green asparagus, romescu sauce, Deep fried squid "a la andaluz", and Iberian pork cheeks cooked in p.X. Wine, potato cream from the warm tapas menu. Everything was great. The calamari was quite possibly the very best I have ever had! The pork cheeks were braised and melted in the mouth; they were so tender. They came with whipped potatoes that seemed a little gluey, though I'm sure they meant to make them that way as it seemed to work. The asparagus was crispy on the outside. The romescu sauce was okay, but unnecessary -- they were great on their own. The only dish where they lost me was the ice cream. Someone had ordered ice cream that was served up with fresh berries and liquor poured over. Since I'm a sucker for ice cream, I ordered the "vanilla ice cream with Pedro Ximénez sweet wine." I should have realized something was up when I didn't get my helado right away. When I did, instead of berries they put raisins on my ice cream! Raisins! Ugh. I'll eat raisins in granola or maybe in an oatmeal cookie, but ugh, not in ice cream! When I got the bill the waiter comp'd the dessert (which I didn't complain about), so I think they probably did run out of berries and felt a bit apologetic. I'll definitely come again.

Pluma Iberica: Best bite of my life. Everything else was great, but the "Finest Cut of the Iberian Pork" was stupendous.

It's a beautiful restaurant that's ideally situated next to the theatre district. 2. Menu is very interesting and full of unique items that are rare to find on traditional restaurant menus. It's also quite good for vegetarians (3 mains and 3 apps are fully vegetarian). 3. Service was quite good. Our server was quite attentive, helpful, and gave us excellent recommendations. The chef's assistant also came out a few times to say Hi and even brought us complimentary coffee at the end. 4. Price is incredibly good for the kind of food, experience, service, and location you're in. Two of us had two appetizers, two mains, 1 dessert, and a carafe of wine for £80 (incl. service)! 5. Finally -- the food. Explosions of flavor, unique textures, and interesting preparations all combine to make this a wonderful experience. I had memories of eating in San Sebastian at Michelin star restaurants...highly recommended for 1/5 of the price! Check out the pictures to see some of the things we got. I would highly recommend the "Traditional Talo" and "Arraultzak". The "Arroz de Setas" was also awesome, but a bit salty for my taste. We got an excellent Rioja to go with the food which was perfect. For dessert, the salted caramel is a no-brainer!

This is going to be another good review. I must be going soft…read more Harris' Tapas bar can be found in the Old Town district of Hastings. In general, the Old Town area of Hastings is far more pleasant than Regular Town, sporting better pubs, better restaurants and (sometimes) better people! Harris' fits nicely into this scheme. Our trip to Harris' followed an afternoon of drinking which, I hear you say, should really end with a curry, not Tapas, however as we were feeling a little bit experimental, and I had never been, we decided to go for it. They have a pretty standard tapas menu with most dishes costing between £3.50 and £6. We opted for the 'Feast for two' for £25 which works out as quite a money saver. You get more than enough for two people and includes meat, fish and vegetable dishes. The service was good, in fact, we were there about twenty minutes before it opened, but they still let us in, thankfully, as it packed out very quickly. I would comment on the drinks selection, however due to excessive intoxication, i cannot remember any of it. Saying, 'Wine' repeatedly rings a bell, then hearing the word, 'White?', then nodding, is how that part of the meal went down. All in all, a very good experience.

The location is perfect, just in the old town near to some of the town's best bars. I'd definitely advise that you book ahead as this place gets really busy at the weekend. Go for the set menu of tapas for two to share to get the variety. The seafood dishes are fab.
