This food truck serves burgers, tacos, and quesadillas, pretty much a microcosm of what people usually eat in the Bay Area -- and what is actually missing in Millbrae because of the concentration of Asian food. It's also quite a high tech food truck, where you order via a giant touch screen. The folks who work the truck are nice, the only downside is that you can't eat the food right there, so it's always a bit cold by the time I get home. The food usually hits the spot, so I can only imagine if I could have it fresh off the grill! The competition between food trucks is pretty high here, so I'm not surprised by the caliber of the food at this truck. It's just such a curious location.

Unfortunately and to my surprise, a person can mess up a burger. It was bland and the fries were trash. I ordered through DoorDash, and there was no option to add condiments for the fries and the instruction box was disabled. At least it was made and delivered quickly (not sure if that helps). Response to the owner: I ordered through my husband's name and out of respect for his privacy, I don't want to post it here. At the time I ordered, the feature to include condiments wasn't there. Regardless of that, the food wasn't good.

It was also slightly on the drier side, but the coleslaw served alongside helped balance things out nicely and added some freshness to the meal. I got a giants burger in a lettuce wrap, an order of the small mouth burger, kids sliders, and my husband got a big mouth burger. I also wanted to get a couple of cookies n cream milkshakes but sadly, they did not have that flavor, only vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and banana. We opted for a couple of vanilla/chocolate swirls instead. The milkshakes came out first - they were on the thicker side so we had to wait a bit for it to melt first, but otherwise were creamy, sweet, and delicious. The kids enjoyed their meals - the small mouth burger came with additional toppings like pickles and onions on the side. The sliders were plain. My giants burger came out initially with no onion rings but the staff proactively realized their mistake and brought this out to me on the side. However, they also forgot the BBQ sauce that was supposed to come with it, which would have been a nice touch. The patty was a bit on the salty side. All the meals had fries on the side, with the giants burger coming with garlic/parmesan fries.

We also subbed our fries for parmesan garlic fries and tots. The burgers were really tasty; we especially enjoyed the classic burger. The tots were also great - crispy and perfectly fried. The parmesan garlic fries had good flavor but were too oily for our liking. For drinks, we got a blonde bombshell shake which was vanilla with strawberry drizzle around the glass. Service was very friendly and attentive, and their seating (both indoor and outdoor) is comfortable and spacious. As we ate our meal, we had a window view of the sunset. Our dinner came out to $70+ which was a bit steep but we enjoyed our experience.

When I looked at the online ordering, it said it would take about 20 minutes, and my hotel was about a 20 minute ride away, so that worked out perfectly. I ordered the Sheriff and some seasoned fries and got on the road. Both the burger and fries were hearty and hit the spot. Overall, this perfectly nails a 4-star experience. The burger wasn't some kind of next level amazing, but it was just a perfectly enjoyable way to end my 4 days in the Bay Area. Hidden Spot is essentially the kitchen portion of a dive bar. I sat at a table with only one other patron in the place around 11am on a Saturday morning. Burger: two patties that actually taste like beef, still pink in the center, juice running down your wrist in the best way; soft toasted bun that doesn't fall apart. However, I have to admit that our most recent visit to this particular location now makes it two times that I've been let down. Compared to the Super Duper locations that I've been to in SF (SoMa, FiDi, Marina, and Laurel Village), this one lacks that neighborhood feel to it, but it makes sense given how it's located at Serramonte. That said, with its two long high-top tables, handful of booths, two-tops, and outdoor patio area, this one offers way more seating whether it be for groups large or small. Similarly, the menu not only offers all of Super Duper's usual offerings (burgers, fries, salads, breakfast sandwich, shakes, and soft serve), but it also has featured/seasonal specials as well as the fried chicken sandwiches and tenders from their sister eatery in SF, the Bird. -- TRUFFLE BURGER - Urbani Truffle Butter, Grilled Onions, Portobello Mushrooms, Monterey Jack Cheese, and Super Sauce...$12.50 (Single Patty) Sadly, the taste of the truffle butter wasn't that strong (though, this still felt luscious), but I really liked how well the grilled onions, cheese, and mushrooms worked together. So, as underwhelming as this was as a "truffle burger", this was great as a "mushroom burger". -- GARLIC FRIES Topped with Parmesan Cheese...$4.75 From past experiences, I know this can be hit or miss depending on how garlicky it is and, unfortunately, this was light on garlic. Still, everything else about this was pretty solid. The fries themselves were cooked well and I loved how this was LOADED with Parmesan. -- MINI BURGER with Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions, Jack Cheese (+$.75), and Bacon (+$1.50)...$7.50 Not as good as other times I've had it, but still not bad. The veggies were fresh and the bun was soft, but the patty didn't feel as juicy this time and didn't have that bit of char either. Also, the bacon was really thin and while the jack cheese was gooey, their cheddar is way better. -- CLASSIC FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH (from the Bird)...$10.75 WTF was this? The one I had at the Bird in SoMa was great; this was not. While we both thought the bun and slaw were fine, the fried chicken was terrible - the batter wasn't crispy (part of it felt almost rubbery/spongy) and the chicken had a sort of stringy texture to it. Despite how convenient this Super Duper may be, especially whenever I'm out this way to do shopping (there's tons of parking), I don't know if/when I would come back again. I certainly won't be getting the fried chicken sandwich again if I do (and perhaps anywhere else), but even the Mini Burger wasn't as satisfying as usual. Given how well all of my past visits have gone, I might just stick to my usual go-to Super Duper in Laurel Village, though I'd still like to check out their recently opened spot in the Inner Sunset. THREE AND A HALF STARS for the two burgers and fries which I would round up for, but rounding down just because of the fried chicken sandwich.

Fries get mixed opinions, but straight out of the fryer they're solid. Light, a little crispy, not overly greasy. Add a bit of salt and they're gone fast. Shake was thick, classic, no shortcuts there either. What stands out most is how consistent everything feels. I have to have my double-double animal style with 2 fresh beef patties, 2 slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion & spread. Spread is In-N-Out's secret sauce and you can get extra packets for squirting on burgers & fries. You can explore other options on their secret menu like protein style, onion wrap or flying dutchman, but I've settled on animal style as my favorite. I still haven't tried extra patties & cheese beyond 3x3, but there's still time in this life. The fries are always fresh cut and double-fried to perfection. You should see the fry guy go to town, ramming whole potatoes through the wall mounted cutter with a vengeance. Fries come out of the oil crispy on the outside and steamy on the inside. They must have just changed the frying oil that day because our fries were very light tan (almost white) despite being crispy. If you like your fries extra crunchy, you can order them "well done". You can also get melted cheese fries and animal fries with cheese, grilled onions & spread. Don't forget the ice cream shakes in vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. Shakes are made the old-fashioned way with soft serve ice cream and blended in the cup. The secret menu has a mix of all 3 flavors, if you order the Neapolitan shake.
