Found this gem on yelp, while out in Buda, looking for a place to eat…read more It's located on N Main St., next to several other shops and since we had Charlie, our Aussie tagging along, choosing a food truck with outdoor seating was a good option. It was a hot Texas summer morning, but we were comfortable enough to enjoy our meal under the shaded patio areas. Meat is sold by the pound, and we went with a Texas trio of brisket, pork ribs and jalapeño cheese sausage. The pork ribs were so tender, they slid off the bone and went straight into my mouth. Moist brisket was tasty and well, moist. Glancing over at the sausage and seeing it drip with cheese, made me want it even more. Adding the potato salad as a side was solid. The workers were friendly and even gave us the first taste of the new Carolina BBQ sauce for complementary. I recommend it becoming a staple for future customers.

I hate to give 2 stars but we didn't enjoy this place. We looked at the menu online on their…read morewebsite and then called in to order. They were out of chicken so couldn't make a couple of the sandwiches, one which we wanted to try. Then we asked for another sandwich and they said they don't make that sandwich anymore and we must be looking at an old menu bc they "hadn't had that sandwich in a while". Ok, that happens, but we were looking at the menu on their own website. Oookkk. We asked what other sandwiches were available and they said 2-3 of the other sandwiches on the menu so we went with one of those. The total for 4 sandwiches was 59. That felt high to me but I know prices are up everywhere so I figured, if it's a good sandwich it'll be worth it. We showed up to pick up our order and they had a menu posted with a bunch of other options. I was annoyed now, bc the other options looked better than what I ended up ordering but he didn't mention any of those on the phone. Overall the sandwiches were just ok. Not enough filling for the bread and was dry. We ended up adding sauces at home. Overall I was disappointed and would not go back.

Pueblo Viejo has been my go-to for breakfast tacos since I discovered it at the former Progress location on 35S (RIP). Since then, I've been hooked. If you had your go-to order at Pueblo Viejo but can't remember the name now, don't worry--Mil Amores will know what you're talking about under their new menu. After an unannounced closure, they've reopened, but now only accepts Venmo, Zelle, or cash--which is a major inconvenience in a mostly cashless city like Austin.
