Really enjoyed this bagel joint after a long walk on the lake. I ordered the Brighton Beach on an egg bagel and an iced matcha with oat milk and lavender. The price for a sausage egg and cheese bagel plus tax and forced tip was $17.30. Yes you read that correctly. I used to go to the location in Madison, WI when I was in college there instead of going to Einsteins. It's been 10 years but there is no way in heck that the cost of this should be near that. I ordered a spicy sausage, soft fried egg and cheese on an everything bagel and that was it. As you can see the bagel was huge and the fixings were all skimpy. 1 extra thin slice of cheddar, 1 small egg and a mini sausage patty is what they consider reasonable portions. Then to top it off, when I was paying it automatically added a tip even though I was taking it to go. Tips on to go orders are insane. The worst thing was that the gentleman in front of me ordered a chocolate milk for his daughter and the service was great and cheery. Once the cashier with the blond hair and glasses heard us talking about Trump and all the great things that have been happening politely, the cashier became upset and clearly changed his service quality. Gave the food the to gentleman with an attitude and did the same for me. Put your emotions to the side bud. We pay $15 for a bagel and not attitude. Never going back to Gotham Bagel and sticking with NYC Bagel Deli on Dearborn and Illinois. Best fresh bagels in Chicago hands down. The bagel itself was flavorful, and I'm very particular about how the bacon is cooked. The bacon was really crispy (how I like it!) and the cheese was nice and gooey. I had to ask them for more vanilla flavoring in my matcha but that's just a personal preference. Gotham Bagels inside Eduardos Restaurant is a hidden gem. It is a regular stop for us when we go to Chicago, which is about once a month. If we stay a week, I'm there at least 2 to 3 times a week ordering their asiago cheese, toasted bagel, sliced with plain cream cheese on the side. It is absolutely the best Asiago cheese bagel I've had. Rivals any New York deli. The coffee is excellent as well, in my opinion. If you like Starbucks coffee, you may not like this coffee. Personally Starbucks is too strong and bitter for me. The atmosphere is very welcoming, urban and the music they play is kind of jazzy and eclectic. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We were staying at the Claridge House a few doors down and our lobby was packed with folks looking for breakfast and coffee. I took a walk as I figured there HAD to be another spot that wasn't as crowded and saw the Gotham Bagels sign in the window of the Eduardo's Restaurant. I remember the chain from other cities I'd visited and knew I could order online. Sure, enough, within 10 minutes I had an awesome breakfast bagel sandwich as well as a half dozen of those plump, crunchy/yet chewy beauties, and a "schmear" in my hands going back to our hotel room. The omfg bagel got me omfg-ing. Once you walk in, you'd probably think you are in the wrong spot. Looks like a bar but just walking down, and you will see the order counter. It's very dimly lit but I found out that this place turns into a bar at night. So cool. Staff were great and super friendly. My order came out less than 10 minutes. I ordered the OMFG bagel on an everything bagel with extra scallion spread. It was loaded and definitely messy to eat. The fried egg exploded on me so be careful. The bagel was perfectly toasted; soft yet crispy texture. I enjoyed my bagel so much! I ate half of it there and saved the other half for the airport. They have a nice spacious outdoor seating in front. The OMFG bagel was the popular item and I can see why. It had fried chicken, cheese, fried egg, bacon bagel with sriracha aioli. I added the scallion cream cheese and it was a game changer!! It was totally worth it. IMO I think it's better than some bagel places here in San Jose, CA. I highly recommend! read more

NGL I couldn't find this spot right away. It wasn't immediately clear that it's inside another restaurant. But I stopped in here to take a bagel sandwich to go. I was able to park in a 15 minute standing zone across the street while I ran in. I was in and out within 15 minutes. For myself I ordered the spicy sausage on asiago and I got the Brighton beach on asiago for my husband. The total was about $35 for both. The sausage sandwich was okay. It was a little dry, and the bagel was chewy so it was hard to eat. However, I did get a fried egg over hard because I planned to eat it in the car. It probably would've been better with an over easy egg. The Brighton bagel was much better. Even though we ate it a few hours later, it was fresh and flavorful. My husband says he likes New York Bagel and Bialy better. Personally I don't eat bagels that often so I can't tell. I'd get the Brighton or another bagel next time. read more

Decided to try a local place than a chain bagel shop. The reviews on Yelp were a hit or miss. I can see why people claimed it's over priced, I agree for the portions and quality. The bagel was dry even with fillings inside and the over easy egg was underwhelming. Every bagel ordered did come with a third of a picked wrapped in foil like a condiment. I would suggest to look at the menu and have an idea of what you want because the ordering process is fast and can be overwhelming when you read their in store menu.
