go on in for coffee midday
    Roger M.

Every midday living grooving Portland, or tripping to LA and walking big scrappers down by the river in Chicago today, anyway my way is a cappuccino midday! Cupitol cappuccino just made my cap midday! Bakery too! Friendly service! In Vivio location to meet up! Spacious inside! Tables or couches to suit your comfortability! 12 foot ceilings, big windows and wood beam architecture inside. Very contemporary industrial looking! go ahead and make your midday coffee too!

Came here to study and it was great! It was so cute to see Cupitol dogs on the wall with Polaroid pictures. Perfect for studying or just sitting and reading a book. I got their Freddo cappuccino which was good just a little strong. The breakfast sandwich or croissant was really buttery and good. The service was great as well, they bring your food and drinks to you. I did see a sign saying no laptop during the weekend but this is still a great place to change up the work day or scenery. It does close a little early but perfect if you come early in the morning.

Walked in on a busy weekend for brunch. The line was huge but we found a seating fortunately. The portions are huge and can be shared with 2-3 people depending on the things you want to eat. For beverage got the greek espresso and nutella latte. Nutella latte was too good. We shared the berry mascarpone french toast, mushroom sphagetti and chicken egg roll which was customizable. All of them were fresh and good. Service was quick too

Popped in on a hot Chicago day, just looking to cool down with a smoothie. Upon entering I was bummed out there was really weak ac (if any). I got the avocado smoothie, which was a wee pricey. And it was already lukewarm when I got it. I've gotta give this place another shot on a cooler day. The vibe's pretty relaxed, a few people were there eating, hanging out, or getting some work done. I also heard really good reviews on the food which I haven't tried yet.

Takes credit card. It's open seating so grab whatever table fits you. Self serve water and sparkling water station and other condiments. Lemon blueberry pancake ($13)- comes with 4 pancakes, but nice fluffy and big. Has blueberries on top and inside, not too sweet. Breakfast Sandwich ($10)- pretty good flavor, but quite small Midwestern omelet ($14),- super large omelet, very fluffy. One of the best omelets I've had. Cobb salad $14- there's half an avocado and half egg on top

A friend of mine wanted to get together for lunch. She suggested Cupitol Coffee & Eatery. Glad we got to see her when we met here on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Cupitol Vegetarian salad. It tasted divine. I like how the green onions liven the spinach, mixed cabbage, kale and carrots. To top it off, the kitchen staff added lemon vinaigrette to the salad. Jospeh ordered a Cupitol burger with cheddar and a macchiato. My friend ordered the burger with fries as well. The service on the other hand, it did not stand out well. Joseph said that the baristas threw the macchiato on the counter while another barista came around to wipe some of the macchiato off the plate. No apologies. Sad because many of them looked young and seem like they did not to be there. Next to me, some customers bickered about the prices on the menu. They did not understand why the prices changed from the last time they came there. When taking my order, I felt that one of the baristas need to take some lessons on customer service. Sort of takes away the shine. Cupitol Coffee & Eatery looks like it draws in a local crowd. Families, friends, and dates come here. But they probably did not experience what we did.

On our last morning in Chicago, we were wandering around and came upon Cupitol on E Illinois. Simple exterior with big windows peering into a quaint space to scoop up a quick bite. Cupitol is a coffee house/shop at its core, but also has the feeling of a small restaurant or eatery. Their menu features all the standard coffee shop bites and drinks from bagels to espresso and pastries, while also featuring a bit more from fresh lemonade, breakfast sandwiches, poached eggs, pancakes and more. You order at the counter and then they assign you a table, which is where your items are delivered. We went with lemonade, breakfast sandwich and country Benedict. The sandwich was bacon, egg and cheese on a warm and crispy croissant, delish! The Benedict was essentially biscuits and gravy topped with a poached egg. It was tasty, but had a few "flaws" from the egg being a bit overcooked and the biscuit being a tad tough. Still tasty though! Lemonade was tasty, but tart. Service was stellar from the counter to the food runners, everyone was friendly and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Cupitol and have added it to our Chicago list!

Great coffee and food. The ambiance was nice, great place to get your laptop to work. Service is quick if you want your items to-go.

Love this little neighborhood coffee shop. You order from the counter and the workers are always so nice. It's a nice big open space and we always seem to be able to find a table. They had fresh flowers on some of the counters for the holidays. Very pretty. The Matcha latte and chai drink were both very good. My friend had a croissant. She planned to only have a few bites and take the rest home, but it was so good. She finished the whole thing!

The staff here were incredibly considerate and quick. I got up to grab a fork, and within two seconds, someone kindly asked what I needed and brought it over right away. I don't think I waited more than two minutes for my matcha, super efficient service! The matcha itself is more on the bitter side, but the chocolate croissant added just the right touch of sweetness to balance it out. I'm very picky when it comes to chocolate croissants (they're my go-to order), and this one was genuinely good. I do wish the chocolate was a bit more evenly spread, it was more concentrated on one side, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. I'd definitely recommend this place for a lovely breakfast with friends or family. Just maybe not ideal for studying, it's more of a cozy cafe vibe than a work spot.

Have stopped in Cupitol several times because I'm obsessed with this place. Awesome breakfast/lunch, fresh pressed juices (including the best fresh orange juice I've ever had), and tasty pastries. They have a ton of gluten free options and have excellent/quick service. The shroom omelette was the best omelette I've ever had and the eggs were so fluffy and delicious. The gluten free pancakes were also awesome and fluffy. They also have a great selection of coffee and smoothies. They have tons of seating inside and outside and I've never had to wait for a table. It's quiet and comfortable inside as well. Keep in mind they close shortly after lunch, so double check their hours before going.

Cozy vibes at Cupitol Coffee & Eatery when I stopped by on a chilly November Saturday. The place was buzzing with people stopping in for coffee, breakfast, and pastries. There is an ample amount of seating, split for guests ordering a full breakfast and lounge seating for those grabbing a latte and pastry. Staff were welcoming and quick to take as well as deliver orders.

i love brunch food, anytime of the day...i could eat brunch thrice a day if given the option! this little local cafe hit the spot...after a morning of touring old navy pier and enjoying the streeterville, mom and i came here for a late morning bite. you come in, order at the counter, take a number, they bring you your food...simple as that! i ordered the "shroomed omelette" which consisted of wild mushrooms, gruyere cheese and spinach, folded into egg whites (my choice of substitute). i opted for the sweet potato hash instead of the traditional hash browns. my plate also came with toasted sourdough bread with butter and fruit preserves. this looked amazing when it was presented to me, and tasted great! the egg white omelet was healthy but still very tasty, and i loved the woodsy/grassy/foresty flavour of the wild mushrooms. i'd never had sweet potato hash before (only traditional baked sweet potato and sweet potato fries) but this was yummy! grilled to perfection! before tax and tip, the total was $16.50, very reasonable, considering the substitutions i made. had it been warmer, i'd have sat outside, along the curb and people-watched. but their indoor seating was very warm and cozy. i'll definitely be back the next time i'm in the windy city!

Do they have an egg substitute option for vegans...like Just Egg? Or other vegan proteins?

Is this a good place to study/work? Or more of a brunch place?

It is! They have great tables for working on laptops etc. and they even have comfy chairs to work in as well. I know there are some outlets but I don't think they're at every table.

The menu is almost completely different than the usual Starbucks menu with different drinks, food items, and even alcohol. The Chicago location has four floors offering food and drink and a rooftop fifth floor which was unfortunately closed during my visit. The place is very large and gives off a somewhat sophisticated cafe aesthetic. Exclusive merchandise and coffee beans are also available for sale on the first floor. The lines are long but move fairly quickly. Of note, Starbucks stars can be earned but not redeemed here, however the birthday reward can be used for non-alcoholic purchases. I had the Double Matcha Margarita from the 4th Floor Arriviamo Cocktail Bar and the Matcha Butterfly Pea Swirl Cake and Tropical Coconut Mousse Cake from the 2nd Floor Starbucks Reserve Cafe. The Double Matcha Margarita had tequila, matcha, lime juice, agave nectar, and matcha cold foam. I was intrigued by the ingredient combination but unfortunately the drink didn't taste like much other than tequila with a hint of lime. Although the drink was evidently green and I saw the barista whisking the matcha, the matcha taste was lost in the mix. What also may have contributed to the lack of flavor was the huge singular ice cube taking up more than half of the volume of the cup; it most likely diluted the drink as it continued to melt. I would've asked for no ice if I knew the ice cube would be that large. For $18 this drink was a huge letdown despite its nice presentation. Since I'm a fan of matcha and butterfly pea tea, which is often rare to find on a menu, I knew I had to order the Matcha Butterfly Pea Swirl Cake. The matcha green tea cake was denser than I expected but it tasted very good; the matcha flavor was there and it wasn't too sweet. The vanilla butterfly pea flower ganache was executed well although I would've liked a little more butterfly pea tea flavor and perhaps color. Overall this was really good and worth the $11.50 paid. The Tropical Coconut Mousse Cake is described to have coconut almond sponge cake, mango gelée filling, coconut mousse, passion fruit gelée, white chocolate ganache, and lime zest. My favorite part of the cake was the coconut mousse and passion fruit gelée while the other components seemed to get lost in the mix. The passion fruit portion was not too sweet and overall this dessert was light and enjoyable. This was also $11.50 and I felt the price was justifiable, but if I had to choose one of the two desserts I would definitely choose the matcha swirl cake. Although I enjoyed my desserts, my matcha margarita did not live up to my expectations for a Starbucks Reserve Roastery. Also, the overall menu selection didn't impress me since I wasn't thrilled with the Savory Bites & Plates offerings. For this Chicago location, I would recommend coming after having a meal elsewhere to enjoy drinks and dessert afterward.
