Every time I go here in the late afternoon/early evening, the employees are either hiding in the back, hiding in a corner, or preparing to close (they close super early for a busy hospital). The place is cute, and their cookies look great, but the employees give off a negative "we're busy" vibe. Also, avoid the cannoli and rice crispy treat. They were gross. read more

Mangia mangia! This spot located on the 2nd floor of Northwestern Hospital is a nice spot to grab a sandwich and a hit of caffeine. I tried out the Italiano sub, and it gave me all the feels. From the bread which is soft yet sturdy to the meats (capicollo, salami, mortadella) and the Italian spices with the EVOO, it all comes together for a nice lunch. Check out the chai tea latte. It's a good balance between sweet and spices, and my go to whenever I'm around! Their lattes also hold their own. I made the mistake of going for a small when I should have chosen a 16 or 20 oz. Leaving you wanting for more is a good thing! read more

The people are extremely rude, and you still have to wait in line even if you place the order in advance. Ok, Coming here was utterly surreal. I popped in for coffee and a couple of cookies (which they get from Bennison's Bakery in Evanston). The coffee is ok, no big deal...fine, you don't expect anything more anyway. But I purchased about 10 cookies. First, they're incredibly overpriced, I mean, expensive, even for Chicago,...downtown Chicago! Second, about 1/3 of them were so stale I could barely bite in to them. the chocolate on top was so hard, I simply had to toss it. I tried two others, exactly the same. They were two different kinds. I went back a few days later thinking, ok, sometimes that happens, everyone has a bad day. After all it's just down the street and very convenient. SAME THING!!!!! Unreal. I finally say something and they told me they couldn't replace them, I'd have to come back at around 10am and talk to the owner. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? I'm going to make a trip back to a cafe after 10 am to ask to replace 3 cookies???????? They don't care or give a damn. I'm told the owner is a colossal witch with a capital "B". But I choose not to believe rumors...well, rumor confirmed. You don't empower your employees to replace a stale cookie? You got real problems lady. read more

This is a smaller version of their main store on Huron. It doesn't have the grocery store items, but it's fine for sandwiches and cookies. Another food court place for sandwiches at Northwestern hospital is Saigon Sisters. This place seems designed to get people to leave. Service was fine, so I think the layout and paint scheme is what's so uninviting. read more

Don't recommend. I only got a rainbow cookie but it was not good. Tasted like it had been frozen and then defrosted to serve during the day. 2/2/22 The woman at the counter YELLED at me for taking a (plastic wrapped) cookie out of an easily accessible cookie jar on top of the dessert case. If you don't have a sign that says, "PLEASE DON'T TAKE COOKIES OUT OF JAR YOURSELF", or, "WE WILL BE GLAD TO HELP YOU WITH THE COOKIES", or even, "PLZ DON'T TOUCH COOKIE JARS", then don't yell at your customers when they do... If the jars aren't meant for customers, then take them off the counter! I've worked in stressful customer service jobs and understand that dealing with the public can often be frustrating so I go out of my way to avoid making anything difficult for store staff. This horrible woman was in need of a break and maybe a cookie herself? Won't ever go back and will make a point of telling my friends/family to avoid this place. read more

I really like the food at this place. I used to frequent L'appetito in Lakeview all the time. Unfortunately, it closed down. Now I go to this one located in Northwestern Hospital out of convenience. Its a block away from my job. The service is the reason I gave it two stars. The level of service is AAAAAAAAWFUL. They could care less about being there. Whenever, I order a sandwich the person NEEEEEEVER remembers what I say. They look at me dead in the eye and say..."ah huh", turn around to make my sandwiche and sure enough they will ask what I wanted. Its really sucks because Im there 4-5 days a week because when I do get my sandwiches, they are so delicious. It is just frustrating because the employees really seem like they don't even want to be there or care about customer service. read more

I wish I enjoyed my sandwich. I've been wanting to try this spot for a minute and sadly I was disappointed. I was expecting the breakfast sandwiches to be fresh to order. Freshly scrambled eggs, ham and bacon and then they would press the sandwich. It's not like that here. They have a case where they pre cook their sandwiches and just press it on the griddle so that it can be hot. When this happens, your sandwich is still super soggy from the eggs that have been sitting. Price wise I am glad I paid what I did, which was 5 bucks, but you can get a better breakfast sandwich at McDonalds or Starbucks. I won't be back. read more

Excellent coffee Lavazza and sub sandwiches. Their bread is smooth chewy crust with a soft inside and the sandwich deli meat taste like a real Italian sandwich. I love the meats nice and peppery with the provolone cheese. It's a really great stop for lunch when you're in the NorthWestern building heading to an appointment. I love their caramel lattes so seriously good. It's a step above Starbucks it's a change up too. Very nice place to get a bite I say try it! I think they use a great starter ( yeast) for their bread. read more

I work at a hospital in the medical district and was happy to see a new place to grab breakfast. On my first trip the grill was not yet set up. I was told it was a soft opening. I grabbed a coffee and croissant both delicious. A week, today, I stopped in and picked up a croissant and egg sandwich. Once again, I loved the coffee. The croissant, however, must have been one to two days old. I was barely able to pull it apart. The egg sandwich was fine, nothing special. For $11 I got a great cup of coffee, an average egg sandwich, and a stale pastry. It's the stale pastry sold at full price that bothers me the most. It's such a poor reflection on this business. I rarely ever post but felt the need because I just encountered one of the rudest cashiers in my life (Midway Airport). She said something under her breath about me because there was some confusion in the checkout line. I asked her what she said and, of course, she wouldn't answer. I asked her why I upset her so much for her to be so rude. Again, no reply but a massive glare. I go out of my way to be nice to people and did not deserve this kind of treatment for no apparent reason. This woman should not work in customer service. Love the salads but will never go back because of this experience. read more
