Ambiance was not there. Host wasn't friendly, and didn't greet us upon entering the establishment. Told us to wait, as he went back to sipping his water, help another waiter move a table, sip water again and seated us. The restaurant was not packed. Also off putting--a random "sheriff"/bouncer staring in my table's direction within 2 ft of us. He sat near us, just watching as waiters/staff would have conversations loud enough to hear with him. Just odd. The food was overpriced in my opinion for the quality. I ordered the breakfast burger--the hash brown was cold. So it was an odd texture to have a thick warm burger and cold hash brown with each bite. Also, when ordering-- tonight, they were cooked under. I asked for medium and received rare. As we were leaving, the same host did not thank us, nor acknowledged us. Giving a 2 star-- and that's being nice.
While trying to figure out what to eat on a Friday night, I stumbled across Gordon Ramsay Burger and decided to dine in immediately. I previously enjoyed the location in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood several times so I wanted to compare my experience while in Chicago. Surprisingly around 6pm the restaurant was only around half full so I was seated right away. The restaurant isn't as big as the Vegas location, but I also think it looked bigger since it wasn't exactly full. I inquired about the burger of the month and was told it was the Wellington burger which included prosciutto in addition to the burger patty. I ended up ordering the Wellington and it arrived in roughly ten minutes. I asked the waiter how he preferred his burger patty cooked and he said medium well so I went with that, however it actually tasted closer to well done since it was very dry and hard. I considered requesting to send it back but ended up not doing so. At least the patty retained its flavor. The sesame seed bun was lightly toasted. The cheese was overly melted to the point there was no cheese pull since the cheese was so hard. The prosciutto had flavor but was also extremely dry and hard, almost too hard for a bite into a burger. Because of this I ended up eating my burger with the provided fork and knife. Was my burger as a whole thrown in the oven to be reheated? It is unfortunate that I did not enjoy my Wellington burger at Gordon Ramsay's, especially considering how harsh he is on his critiques on television. While I do enjoy my burgers at the Vegas location, I think I'll stick to medium burger patties from Gordon Ramsay in the future and definitely won't be ordering the Wellington again.
We were big Gordon Ramsay's fan, so we have to try this burger joint when visiting Chicago. Service is below average. We got seated quickly. The restaurant is no where at capacity though. However when we ask for the check, they have indicated to use the QR code on the table, which we knew. The fact you can use a working smart device to pay is a perk and should not be a necessity to dine there. Next is ambience. Nothing special besides a Ramsey jersey with #3 (I would assume that's his 3rd restaurant) and his face was on a wall. The seat (bench) is uncomfortable. It is on a narrow side. The table was set spaced too far for the narrow bench usee which made it even worst. Did the staff even test the distancing when setting up to open each day? Thirdly the food, and my husband and I very divided, most likely because one of them is better than the other. He got the BBQ, and I got the Brunch one. We also got fries. We both got medium, and a bit borderline leaning a bit too raw than medium if you are picky. The fries was fluffy outside but HARD exterior. The BBQ one is much better than the Brunch one. The brunch burger onion is overly sweet. The BBQ candied bacon is hard and yuck. I even joked a burger from 5 guys might be better than mine. The bun is average. I didn't finish my food (not because the portion was too big, was because I decided to go get real food elsewhere). If you crave a burger, you might want to go elsewhere. If you want to visit Gordon's restaurant, maybe try a different place/city.
We arrived at our Airbnb around 2:30pm and were starving! A block away was the Ramsay restaurant and we decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bar tender. My husband and I both ordered burgers and a side of fries to share. The burgers were cooked a perfect medium rare and the fries were hot and crispy. They hit the spot for these two hungry travelers.
I had pretty high expectations for this place since it's tied to a celebrity chef, but it ended up being a big letdown. The vibe was very casual and a bit worn-in, with a no-frills, slightly greasy feel. Overall, probably a 6/10. Service was decent. The server walked us through the burger of the month and helped describe one for me, and checked in once. Nothing special but not bad either, around a 6/10. I ordered the Idiot Burger and it came out basically room temp, which was honestly weird. It didn't feel fresh at all, like it had been sitting out for a while. Even a quick reheat would've helped. The quality was worse than McDonald's. The braised beef didn't taste good, and even though the patty itself was fine, the overall flavor just wasn't there at all. Not to mention, the bottom bun was soggy and top bun seemed like it was slapped on top not even toasted. Easy 0/10. The truffle burger was actually solid though, came out warm and tasted good, so I'd give that a 7/10. The water tasted off too, kind of like dirty pipes. Definitely something they should fix, maybe the fountain system or filters. That was a 0/10. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it based on the quality.
I'll be nice and give three stars, but I honestly would not come back or recommend this place. This was our travel day so we just needed something quick and easy for our hungry kids, unfortunately I should have walked the extra few minutes for somewhere else. The burgers were just really bland. If I'm paying $22 for a burger (that doesn't come with fries) I want it to be amazing and it just didn't have any flavor. I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. My husband had the idiot burger - again, just ok. And the kids had the cheeseburger off the kids menu, which did come with fries, but the burger was literally cheese meat and a bun, nothing else. This could be fine, but again they had no flavor. The onion rings were excellent! We also enjoyed the truffle fries, but $12 is pricey for a side of fries. Our server was excellent, so no complaints there, we just were hoping for better tasting food.
The ambiance was okay, like any other fast food place. For the food, my husband had the Blue Cheeseburger, and he liked it. I had the Vegan Burger, but unfortunately the burger was not that great, it was too dry to eat. The description mentioned avocado, but the burger barely had any. Also the service was not that great, the server was quite rude to us. When I told her the burger was too dry to eat (very politely), she just snatched the plate from the table and went inside which was so weird and unethical. Although they didn't charge us for the vegan burger but the behaviour was quite rude.
Sat at the bar for lunch. Had a maple bacon bourbon cocktail that was really good. I ordered the basic burger that comes on a sesame seed bun, lettuce, tomato, onion. I subbed the American cheese for cheddar (they only have white cheddar unfortunately). Bartender was great and pointed that out in advance. I ordered a side of fries that does not come with burger. Fries were plain fries and just ok. Maybe if it ordered the truffle parm topping they would be better. Not worth the $7 charge. Burger was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Not hot but ok. I would get again ir maybe try a different burger and some other than fries as a side. Giving good 3.5 stars and drink menu 4 stars.
The burgers are simply outstanding. I enjoyed the beef Wellington burger and some truffle oil aioli fries. My son had the bbq bacon cheeseburger and truffle fries and a strawberry milkshake. The milkshake was creamy and had real strawberries in it. I would go back and try more burgers but the current burger of the month the beef Wellington is amazing. Wanted try this after a very long time on my bday . I had their fried chicken burger with omelette and hash browns the kids and hubby got beef burger and we got truffle fries to share . Everyone liked their orders but I wasn't happy with mine it was way too salty for my liking. Unfortunately it's nothing special
Burgers were all pretty good. I liked the brunch burger and idiot burger most. The truffle fries were seasoned nicely, but a little too potato-y. The watermelon mocktail was really refreshing and pleasant too. Service was good.
I had hopes and fresh perspective but I was not impressed. The onion rings were greasy, the fries were warm but not hot, and the burger lacks flavor. I was completely underwhelmed. The manager ensured that the inaccurately prepared burger was fixed. The server Zella was attentive and ensured that our needs were met. She was the star! But with tip and tax, I was disappointed with spending $203.
As promised the food here was absolutely exceptional! The Wellington burger was such a wonderful balance. The chef cooked it medium rare perfectly. The fries were crisp and golden! The cookie was crunchy on the outside and warm as well as soft in the middle. Service was light, polite and inviting. The wait time was excellent and professional. The ambience was bright and with the light colored wood and open concept it felt like a perfectly crafted modern space to eat.

Gordon Ramsay is one of my wife's favorite celebrity chefs. We've been watching him for years on Next Level Chef and Hell's kitchen. So whenever I have the opportunity to check out one of his restaurants, I love to go! (Las Vegas is a Ramsay dining group mecca - and I've almost tried them all) It's been on my list to try Gordon Burger in Chicago and my wife and I have a place just a few blocks away. The first thing you'll notice is that everything in this restaurant is spotless, and they pride themselves on keeping everything very clean. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted and had my order taken. Drinks were fantastic. I ordered the nashville chicken and fries (which you have to order separate) and the ketchup tasted smoked - just incredible. The Nashville chicken sandwich was hot but not too hot spice wise. I'll definitely be back - this place has a sports bar vibe and is right up my alley! One of these days I'd love to meet Gordon in person! read more

We got onion rings as an appetizer and she got a chocolate-black cherry shake. The onion rings were as big as donuts! We devoured our burgers. The truffle burger was not overpowering and perfectly balanced with its ingredients. The bun was soft, not dry and meat was seasoned well. Every bite was delicious. While one family member really likes the Hell's Kitchen Burger, which was their bestseller, another rated the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich not as high. The sides are shareable. We preferred the truffle fries but enjoyed the sweet potatoes fries too. Truffle and Parmesan fries was crispy and taste so good with its truffle sauce, which we can't get enough off. The sweet potato fries cut was smaller, close to straw like, which makes it not soggy, crispy and seasoned well. Overall we love the restaurant and food. However we may not return as often since the burgers and sides are overpriced and the burgers do not come with a side. Drink list has a good amount of options. Service was great. The beef rib nachos are loaded with jalapeno pepper and cheese. Burgers are closer to the size of Five Guys instead of Shake Shack. Some of the burgers come with eggs and hash brown on the side so keep that in mind before you order more sides. Place is casual dining and prices between $18-$20 for a burger before add-ons. On a recent trip to Chicago, after a busy day, I searched for places near my hotel to grab a quick bite. Gordon Ramsay burger was nearby, and I thought, hey, I want to try it. So I called ahead and ordered the Backyard Burger with regular fries. The menu isn't huge, just a few selections, and I opted for something like a typical burger. It was an early dinner, and there were a few folks in. I walked up to the bar to get to my to-go order. A bright open space that looks like a great place to sit and eat.The phone staff and in-person staff were both friendly. I walked over and picked up my food and went back to my hotel room to scarf down my meal. The burger was grilled with a nice char-grilled flavor, which I like. The bun had sesame seeds, and the burger was huge as you can see. The fries had two kinds of sauces, both good. It was a tasty burger, cooked to my specifications with fresh ingredients. It was a lot for me - I couldn't eat all the fries, so I ended up saving most to eat later. Next time, I'd like to try the beer-battered onion rings. read more

What a great burger! We almost escaped from Mars (at the Escape Game) and then headed down the block to check out this place. I had the Hells Kitchen burger which was delicious! As you can see, I forgot to take a pic but cleaned the plate! My older girls had the Backyard burger and shared the sweet potato fries which were surprisingly thin and crunchy. My 17 year old commented it was the best burger she's ever had! My youngest had the vanilla shake which she said was definitely worth $10! It was a cool vibe with TVs playing games and indiscernible music in the background. Highly recommend! read more
Astonished. In a word. I had set out to hit a different burger place but this turned out to be convenient to my hotel, so Gordon's it was. Off the top, my server, Jovan, wins best server of my life. Engaging, helpful, and enthusiastic. He was great. I went with the Farmhouse Burger, his special blend patty topped with sharp cheddar, thick cut bacon and a fried egg. The oversized patty had a great flavor on its own, as did the bacon. The fried egg was delightfully runny, and the bakery soft roll was firm enough to hold all the innards perfectly. Kind of a kimmelweck style bun, dusted with sesame. Truffle fries were up next, and the kitchen kind of fell down on this. I loved the truffle aioli, but the fries were luke warm and limp, took too long a vacation under the heat lamp or something. I'm sure they would have cheerfully replaced them if I asked, but they weren't THAT bad. IMHO. Would I go again? You bet. Spendy tho. Be prepared for a $50+ tab for two diners, even without alcohol. read more

The food here was AMAZING! I recommend this place to anyone that wants a good burger in Chicago. I didn't dine-in but I'm sure the food is even better coming right out to your table smoking hot! The bartender Trell was absolutely the best! He was professional, attentive to everyone dining at the bar and recommended the most deliciously refreshing drink that was absolutely magnificent! The only con I have (and the reason for the 4 star rating) is that I tried calling my order in for a pickup and was transferred to someone else to take the order buy the call always disconnected.This happened numerous times until I just decided to give up, get out of my bed and go in to place my order at the bar. Gordon Ramsay Burger was such a good experience. This restaurant is decent in size and offers a good amount of seating. When we walked in it was pretty packed and we tried to get a table for two and were told it'd be a 15 min wait but got sat down so much quicker! The burger was so amazing! Anyone that knows me, knows that burgers are my fav thing ever and this one didn't disappoint! The patty was cooked to perfection and had the most amazing flavor! The fries were crispy and just the perfect amount of salty and they're onion rings were so big and well tasting! If you're thinking of dropping by, you should definitely do so! read more

I've walked by Gordon Ramsay's burger joint (actually restaurant) 100 times. At 5:00 p.m. (plus) there was always a line to get in. That was always a giant "Hummmmm" to me. So on my daily walk with my "Besty" in from L.A. he said he really wants to try Gordon's famous Hell's Kitchen Burger! So we walked in, sat at the bar and split one and some fries. It was very good! For a $17 burger it was nice. My problem is that I've been in The Hunt with these Kobe / Wagu / prime burgers all in the $30 crowd. These are eons above the under $20 group. I will say Gordon's fries were in the same club as the Big Boys. His restaurant is huge. It's pristinely clean and the staff there are friendly and helpful. We took our son here for his birthday dinner during our weekend in Chicago. I'm a vegan, but my husband and son aren't. They had a vegan burger for me, and my boys had two other burgers. We all agreed these were hands-down the best burgers any of us had ever had in our lives. This vegan burger was the BEST burger--vegan or meat--that I've ever had in my life! Here is another restaurant I wasn't originally planning to visit on a recent trip, but ended up here anyway. After looking at the pretty basic menu, I realized the menu isn't quite as extensive as the one in Vegas. It also doesn't have many of the higher end burgers, which I ordered in Vegas and proclaimed their priciest was a fabulous burger and one of the best I have ever had. Let's see how a non-vegas location of Gordon Ramsay's burger tastes. I ordered the "chicago root beer", a truffle fries and a Hells Fire burger and subbed the cheese for cheddar. It came out medium rare as I requested and thankfully the jalapeno was even a bit spicy. The patty was 7oz and was machine formed. It does not normally come with lettuce. I didn't end up finishing all of the bread, but it turned out to be a pretty tasty burger. The truffle fries were pretty tasty too and they give you enough to share between 2-3 people. Fries come with aioli and their homemade ketchup. This may the only dish on the menu that comes with the homemade ketchup. It's pretty good and slightly tangy. The root beer turned out to be WBC root beer in a bottle made by Goose Island, one I had already had. Overall, I had a decent experience and had some lretty good food. I wasn't wowed like I was at the Vegas location, it was more or an experience but this location is decent. The restaurant was a little on the small side, so you may experience a short wait for a seat, like I did when I visited for lunch. read more

Okay. I am a big Gordon Ramsey fan. I mean, I have seen every Hell's Kitchen episode. Every single minute of every single one. Master Chef has sucked up a considerable portion of my life. I have even made his famous beef Wellington at home. I have made scallops using the Ramsey method. I make eggs the way he suggested. So maybe I had set the expectations too high. Maybe I was expecting too much. When I was a block away, one of my daughters called and said "Hurry...Gordon is here!" Turns out, she was teasing and referencing the life sized Ramsey on the wall. Too bad he wasn't there. Might have improved the experience. It wasn't bad....it just wasn't very good. I am sure "okay" is not a word that Ramsey would want to be used to describe a meal at one of his establishments. Had this been another restaurant, it would not have been a big deal. We started with the nachos. I missed that they were made with potato chips and not tortillas. That always makes for a more greasy experience to me. We ate them because we were very very hungry but not because they were anything special. They had beef on them, which was good. But there was not enough. Would not order a second time. The burgers came. We had two ordered Vegetarian burgers. I ordered a more classic burger with cheese, bacon and an egg. One of my daughters ordered a burger with avocado and an onion ring. She said the avocado was under-ripe and hard so she couldn't eat it. And her burger was a little too grill crispy. Overall we agreed it might be a 2.5 star experience. But we can't give half stars on here so we rounded up to 3. That is due to the high quality beef used and the freshness of the ingredients. The best part of the meal were the truffle fries. They were amazingly delicious. (And the staff was wonderful.) So, if you want to waste $151.00 on 5 burgers, go to this one. But if I were you, i would pass... Bobby Flay and Jose Garces serve up burgers to fight over. This one was, well, average. read more

This ABC burger is so good! No extra seasoning required. I was pretty full from last night, this morning, so I didn't order sides but my friends did. Nothing comes with the burger so sides are not included. We also had truffle fries and cheese corn dip, they were both delicious! It's all about the seasoning. The restaurant is pretty laid back with an open seating area and the staff is very professional, nice and knowledgeable. read more

We went on a Thursday evening and were seated immediately. The server was pleasant but our burgers took at least 30 minutes to come out. They said there was a large party which caused the delay. I ordered my burger medium well and my colleague ordered hers medium. Unfortunately when they brought out the burgers, even though we ordered totally different ones - mine was medium and hers was well done. I sent mine back, then when they remade mine - it was well done, not medium well. The manager said that the one they gave me previously was medium well (although it looked medium to me), so he told them to cook this one well done - so there was NO pink. I didn't ask them to try again, I just ate it. The taste of the burger was decent. They gave me a free shake for the hassle and comped our burgers. We really appreciated the customer service and the management...we were just disappointed that our burgers weren't cooked correctly. Would definitely give them another try given the service. read more

There's a Vegan burger on the menu that includes a Vegan bun. Other than that they have a plant based patty substitute. All others seem to be a toasted sesame seed bun.
