While trying to figure out what to eat on a Friday night, I stumbled across Gordon Ramsay Burger and decided to dine in immediately. I previously enjoyed the location in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood several times so I wanted to compare my experience while in Chicago. Surprisingly around 6pm the restaurant was only around half full so I was seated right away. The restaurant isn't as big as the Vegas location, but I also think it looked bigger since it wasn't exactly full. I inquired about the burger of the month and was told it was the Wellington burger which included prosciutto in addition to the burger patty. I ended up ordering the Wellington and it arrived in roughly ten minutes. I asked the waiter how he preferred his burger patty cooked and he said medium well so I went with that, however it actually tasted closer to well done since it was very dry and hard. I considered requesting to send it back but ended up not doing so. At least the patty retained its flavor. The sesame seed bun was lightly toasted. The cheese was overly melted to the point there was no cheese pull since the cheese was so hard. The prosciutto had flavor but was also extremely dry and hard, almost too hard for a bite into a burger. Because of this I ended up eating my burger with the provided fork and knife. Was my burger as a whole thrown in the oven to be reheated? It is unfortunate that I did not enjoy my Wellington burger at Gordon Ramsay's, especially considering how harsh he is on his critiques on television. While I do enjoy my burgers at the Vegas location, I think I'll stick to medium burger patties from Gordon Ramsay in the future and definitely won't be ordering the Wellington again.
We were big Gordon Ramsay's fan, so we have to try this burger joint when visiting Chicago. Service is below average. We got seated quickly. The restaurant is no where at capacity though. However when we ask for the check, they have indicated to use the QR code on the table, which we knew. The fact you can use a working smart device to pay is a perk and should not be a necessity to dine there. Next is ambience. Nothing special besides a Ramsey jersey with #3 (I would assume that's his 3rd restaurant) and his face was on a wall. The seat (bench) is uncomfortable. It is on a narrow side. The table was set spaced too far for the narrow bench usee which made it even worst. Did the staff even test the distancing when setting up to open each day? Thirdly the food, and my husband and I very divided, most likely because one of them is better than the other. He got the BBQ, and I got the Brunch one. We also got fries. We both got medium, and a bit borderline leaning a bit too raw than medium if you are picky. The fries was fluffy outside but HARD exterior. The BBQ one is much better than the Brunch one. The brunch burger onion is overly sweet. The BBQ candied bacon is hard and yuck. I even joked a burger from 5 guys might be better than mine. The bun is average. I didn't finish my food (not because the portion was too big, was because I decided to go get real food elsewhere). If you crave a burger, you might want to go elsewhere. If you want to visit Gordon's restaurant, maybe try a different place/city.
I had pretty high expectations for this place since it's tied to a celebrity chef, but it ended up being a big letdown. The vibe was very casual and a bit worn-in, with a no-frills, slightly greasy feel. Overall, probably a 6/10. Service was decent. The server walked us through the burger of the month and helped describe one for me, and checked in once. Nothing special but not bad either, around a 6/10. I ordered the Idiot Burger and it came out basically room temp, which was honestly weird. It didn't feel fresh at all, like it had been sitting out for a while. Even a quick reheat would've helped. The quality was worse than McDonald's. The braised beef didn't taste good, and even though the patty itself was fine, the overall flavor just wasn't there at all. Not to mention, the bottom bun was soggy and top bun seemed like it was slapped on top not even toasted. Easy 0/10. The truffle burger was actually solid though, came out warm and tasted good, so I'd give that a 7/10. The water tasted off too, kind of like dirty pipes. Definitely something they should fix, maybe the fountain system or filters. That was a 0/10. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it based on the quality.
I'll be nice and give three stars, but I honestly would not come back or recommend this place. This was our travel day so we just needed something quick and easy for our hungry kids, unfortunately I should have walked the extra few minutes for somewhere else. The burgers were just really bland. If I'm paying $22 for a burger (that doesn't come with fries) I want it to be amazing and it just didn't have any flavor. I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. My husband had the idiot burger - again, just ok. And the kids had the cheeseburger off the kids menu, which did come with fries, but the burger was literally cheese meat and a bun, nothing else. This could be fine, but again they had no flavor. The onion rings were excellent! We also enjoyed the truffle fries, but $12 is pricey for a side of fries. Our server was excellent, so no complaints there, we just were hoping for better tasting food.
The ambiance was okay, like any other fast food place. For the food, my husband had the Blue Cheeseburger, and he liked it. I had the Vegan Burger, but unfortunately the burger was not that great, it was too dry to eat. The description mentioned avocado, but the burger barely had any. Also the service was not that great, the server was quite rude to us. When I told her the burger was too dry to eat (very politely), she just snatched the plate from the table and went inside which was so weird and unethical. Although they didn't charge us for the vegan burger but the behaviour was quite rude.
Sat at the bar for lunch. Had a maple bacon bourbon cocktail that was really good. I ordered the basic burger that comes on a sesame seed bun, lettuce, tomato, onion. I subbed the American cheese for cheddar (they only have white cheddar unfortunately). Bartender was great and pointed that out in advance. I ordered a side of fries that does not come with burger. Fries were plain fries and just ok. Maybe if it ordered the truffle parm topping they would be better. Not worth the $7 charge. Burger was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Not hot but ok. I would get again ir maybe try a different burger and some other than fries as a side. Giving good 3.5 stars and drink menu 4 stars.
We arrived at our Airbnb around 2:30pm and were starving! A block away was the Ramsay restaurant and we decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bar tender. My husband and I both ordered burgers and a side of fries to share. The burgers were cooked a perfect medium rare and the fries were hot and crispy. They hit the spot for these two hungry travelers.
The burgers are simply outstanding. I enjoyed the beef Wellington burger and some truffle oil aioli fries. My son had the bbq bacon cheeseburger and truffle fries and a strawberry milkshake. The milkshake was creamy and had real strawberries in it. I would go back and try more burgers but the current burger of the month the beef Wellington is amazing. The server also worked at the bar and the service was still outstanding. The ambiance is Gasto pub modern
Ambiance was not there. Host wasn't friendly, and didn't greet us upon entering the establishment. Told us to wait, as he went back to sipping his water, help another waiter move a table, sip water again and seated us. The restaurant was not packed. Also off putting--a random "sheriff"/bouncer staring in my table's direction within 2 ft of us. He sat near us, just watching as waiters/staff would have conversations loud enough to hear with him. Just odd. The food was overpriced in my opinion for the quality. I ordered the breakfast burger--the hash brown was cold. So it was an odd texture to have a thick warm burger and cold hash brown with each bite. Also, when ordering-- tonight, they were cooked under. I asked for medium and received rare. As we were leaving, the same host did not thank us, nor acknowledged us. Giving a 2 star-- and that's being nice.
Wanted try this after a very long time on my bday . I had their fried chicken burger with omelette and hash browns the kids and hubby got beef burger and we got truffle fries to share . Everyone liked their orders but I wasn't happy with mine it was way too salty for my liking. Unfortunately it's nothing special
I had hopes and fresh perspective but I was not impressed. The onion rings were greasy, the fries were warm but not hot, and the burger lacks flavor. I was completely underwhelmed. The manager ensured that the inaccurately prepared burger was fixed. The server Zella was attentive and ensured that our needs were met. She was the star! But with tip and tax, I was disappointed with spending $203.
Burgers were all pretty good. I liked the brunch burger and idiot burger most. The truffle fries were seasoned nicely, but a little too potato-y. The watermelon mocktail was really refreshing and pleasant too. Service was good.
While in Chicago, I was asked to pick the dinner spot. Who can go wrong with Gordon Ramsay's Burgers. Sad to say, we did. We arrived to the spot on 2,E Ontario St. We were immediately seated. It was like a Sunday flashback. We waited patiently. Way longer than we should have because we're restaurant folks. My friend goes over to ask if we can or will be served. They were immediately seating folks after us but I saw the same service duplicating with other customers. Maybe staffing was an issue. Our server finally came and apologized, she was assigned to another section of the restaurant and didn't know we were hers too. We all ordered. The process felt rushed. She was going back and forth. Not clearly understanding or answering our menu questions. When the food came out, she had to go back because of missed items and sauces. Bless her heart ! I took the meat off the brioche bread. The steak was tender and seasoned well. It was a nice portion size. $19.00 My two co-workers ordered burgers. They both stated that the burgers were bland with no flavoring $17/$19. The Just fries were tasty. $7. The beer battered onion rings were da bomb! $12 Honestly, the food and service did not match up for the price we paid for dinner. This was a Monday night before 6pm. Definitely wouldn't recommend this location.

To say I am shocked would be an understatement. Chef Ramsey has hissy fits over a lot better food than this. It's obvious he has nothing to do with the food and only lent his name. The burger was suppose to be medium but came out well done. As you can see it has the thinnest slice of cheese(can read a newspaper thru it) that only covers half of the burger. The bacon is equally as thin and half cooked. And to top it off the burger is beyond salty, to the point of eatable. The fry's are just frozen foodservice ones you get at any restaurant. Avoid this overpriced location when there is a ton of other options. Way to just go for the money chef and not care about your name and reputation. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for our joint birthday celebration since we are both fans of Gordon Ramsay and love watching all of his shows. Our server was amazing, she was very sweet and helped us with narrow down our choices of what we wanted to try first! The burgers were some of the juiciest ones I have ever had, massive on top it. It was hard to narrow it down to just two burgers instead of all of them! I got the Hell's Kitchen burger and the flavors were off the charts delicious We also got the truffle fries to try and they are DELICIOUS, especially the truffle sauce. We also got the raspberry cocktail and the smoke on the water. They were amazing, and incredibly smooth. The atmosphere was relaxing but elevated at the same time. All of the attention to detail in every inch was accounted for. Overall it was an amazing experience and I already can't wait to come back for more! read more

Really great burgers, service and location! I was really impressed with the size of the burger and how it was cooked. The sweet potato fries were delicious as well. I sat the bar and our waitress was really attentive and nice. The burgers range from $15-$19 without a side included, so it's a little on the pricey side, but very delicious! Wish we had a better experience for our first restaurant meal of 2023, but the service was not good. So slow!! Our cocktail drinks barely came out before our meal came out and we had to ask for water after the server came back with our food and cocktail drinks since it was never given or offered beforehand. We finished our burgers before the water came! Then, when we asked for the check, it took about 30 minutes to be done with the whole process of paying since the server took so long to come back each time. They never gave us a pen either, so we had to take one from the table behind us or else the process would've taken even longer! The food itself was OK. Don't think we'll be returning. read more

I tried last weekend for the first time. The interior was pretty cool. Strong AC was on and wait time was around 30 min for 4 people. We ordered the truffle fries, ABC burger, brunch burger, the new Idiot burger, and hell's kitchen burger. The sauces were great overall, and the following is the list from my favorite to least favorite: Brunch, ABC, Idiot, Hell's kitchen The server was very cool and chill. read more
Expectations can really hurt a restaurant. You hear people talk about it, and you know the chefs and about their reputations, and it rarely lives up to the built up expectations. Gordon Ramsay's Burger lived up to the iron chef name. I had the blue burger, and it did not shy away from flavor. Typical blue cheese burgers have very tame blue cheese but Mr. Flay definitely let the blue cheese slap you around. There was nothing tame about it, however the burger still came through and worked well along with the blue cheese. The beef itself was a generous portion and although plenty juicy, the cook was a just little over that it missed that perfect melt in your mouth texture, which I could live with. All in all the burger was fantastic. The highlight of the meal though was a happy mistake. I wanted onion rings, but they were out, so I ordered their kettle chip nachos. Yup you read that right. Kettle... chip... nachos... let me tell ya, it was absolutely amazing. The kettle chips were perfectly cooked and had an amazing crunch. The braised beef was decadent and so tender that it just dissolved in your mouth, and every ingredient in the nachos complimented each other so well. When you took a bite, you got the rich beef, salty chip, and just the right amount of acid from the lightly pickled peppers. It was super well balanced and kudos to chef and cooks who's executed on a wonderful dish. In summation, the price point at Gordon Ramsay's Burger is higher than the typically burger spot, but it is worth it. The ingredients were fresh, well executed, and full of flavor. And no, it's not the best burger in town, but it does offer a flavor forward menu that won't disappoint. read more

We had a great time here! We shared the farmhouse burger and they even served it halved for us with the egg on the side. The onion rings are way more filling than they appear! They were good but definitely heavy on the breading. I loved the spicy kick in their house made ketchup. We were given an Oreo creme brulee shake for our anniversary that was so yummy! We walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server, I think his name was Kevin, was very attentive and so easy to talk to! read more

To be fair I'm only giving 2 stars because the the bartender was super nice . For Gordon Ramsay to be so anal about food the quality of this burger is terrible. I got a medium well blue cheese burger and the burger was so dry and just overall not good would not recommend. My friend order the same burger but she got everything on it , I got mines without the union ring & we were both equally underwhelmed. I got a double Tito's and cranberry to drink and I did enjoy the bartender cause this is exactly what I was looking for strong af drink . Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't try again read more

I had a really pleasant time here despite it being a random Monday afternoon. I thought a reservation would have been needed since it is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant but turns out I did not. I only assumed so cause the last time I went to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant was back in Las Vegas. We started with the street corn dip and it was our first time trying it out and it was amazing...I almost wanted to pick up the plate and lick off the rest of the dip remnants. Anyways, back on point, the burgers themselves were excellent. I've watched Gordon's video on making a backyard burger so that's what I ordered and it did not disappoint. It was seasoned perfectly though the tomatoes kept wanting to slip out which one did at the end but that's ok. The medium rare temperature was perfect. The truffle fries were a hit. One order of fries was enough for two of us since our burgers were the hefty stars of our lunch. Our enthusiastic server was helpful with recommendations and also very friendly. Ultimately we had an awesome experience here since it was not that busy. I'm not sure how it would have been if it were a Friday or Saturday night but regardless the food itself was pretty good. read more

Hi Franke,…
Barely any complaints about this place!! Our food was absolutely amazing, starting with the onion rings. I personally loved the cheddar ranch that came out with them. They were the perfect amount of breading and flavor, definitely high recommend! The burgers were amazing. They obviously use very high quality meat because just the flavor of the patty itself was fantastic. I ordered the Hell's Kitchen burger (because I love the show), which was a bit out of the ordinary for me because I can't handle spice and it has jalapeño on it. But, balanced with the avocado and the tomato, it was just enough spice to leave a little heat in the back of your throat without it being "spicy". Definitely would get again!! The sweet potato fries were great, especially the sweet sauce that came with them. The highlight of the night however was our service! Our server, Kevin, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant itself and the menu and food items. He was also very entertaining and just added another layer of greatness to our evening. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!! read more

When you're eating your way through Chicago and crave a burger, try Gordon Ramsay's on Ontario, a nice, well lit and air conditioned interior (a little bit loud) with very friendly staff. I got a Farmhouse burger (deep, rich and earthy with delicious mushrooms and a fried egg on top) and shared truffle fries and the crispiest onion rings I've ever had. I also sneaked a few sips of a delicious Smoke on the Water bourbon cocktail and a toffee dessert shake. A hearty and filling meal, plenty of fuel for all the walking to see the city. read more

On our way to the Starbucks Reserve, we walked by this place and knew we wanted to come back for lunch. I'm so glad we did because the food is so delicious. The special burger of the month is a truffle burger with truffle butter, truffle goat cheese, truffle aioli, bacon, egg, shallots, and frisée. It was the best burger I've ever had! I was visiting Chicago with my mom for a few days and we were staying at a hotel across from the restaurant and had to try the burgers at least once! We got the Southern Yardbird and the Backyard Burger- the latter without cheese, as I'm lactose intolerant. We shared both with some Truffle Fries and everything was so, so good, including the truffle aioli and the house ketchup!! I think these were some of the best burgers we've ever eaten. There was no oil in sight and the patties were tender and juicy. We ordered to-go as it was pretty late that night and we just wanted to get back to the hotel and rest, but the restaurant had a low sound level, neat and on-brand decor, and quality service. If we had the time we would've gone a second time! read more

Came out to Chicago for the Coldplay concert. Only been to Chicago 1 other time a year ago. Before parking the car in the garage for the weekend I drove around showing my friend downtown Chicago. We drove past Burger Theory, a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. OMG I have to try this place. I watch all of the Masterchef shows. They take online reservations but those are booked out for days, they do walk in for seating, and Fri. thru Sunday they don't do to-go orders. Saturday we went at 2 30pm. I ordered the Forest Burger. It was absolutely a amazing. So amazing I came back and ordered it the next day. The mushroom are fresh, and a different kind than I have seen before. Very silky tasting. The meat was cooked perfect. I got medium well, and the egg just popped and balanced the burger. The onion rings were amazing, and the sauce they make in house the ketup and honey jalenpeno aioli sweet sauce. The truffle fries came out warm, so they got cold fast. So they went back I wanted them hot. The service was great they did stop seating people for about 45 minutes to catch up on the kitchen delivering food to the folks. I went back the next day and will go back again in the future. I wish they had this restaurant in Indiana. I would be going monthly, it's that good. read more

Cute and fun! Very understaffed so, don't think this is going to be a fast burger. The truffle fries alone are worth a visit. While an Englishman's concept of a burger is some what unconventional in my opinion, the burger itself, bun and preparation were spot on. The three non-alcoholic cocktails are very cool but the N/A brew offerings was unfortunately Bud zero. A fork and knife are provided and necessary as these burgers are built to be consumed that way. read more

This was the first stop when getting to Chicago and definitely glad I did. I started with the beer battered onion rings it came with chipotle ketchup and cheddar ranch dip. It was nice and light and easy to share with the table, the presentation of the dish was awesome as well. The cheddar ranch was my favorite dipping sauce over the chipotle ketchup. For the burger I chose one of the signature burgers on the menu the Forest Burger, it consist of Swiss, mixed mushrooms, fried egg, arugula and porcini aioli. The burger was good the meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly to medium rare. All the toppings went really well together to make a great burger and the fried egg was perfectly cooked with the egg yolk bring everything together. You can not have a burger without fries, so we ordered the Truffle Fries the fries were just not crispy enough would definitely skip the fries the next time, the burger was definitely the star of the meal. Finally, we were recommended to try the Oreo Creme Brûlée Shake, and super glad I did. It is a classic Oreo milkshake at the bottom and creme brûlée pudding in the middle and then topped with whipped cream. It was creaming and super sweet a great way to end a meal. It was a great experience and would for sure go back to try another burger. read more

Do they offer gluten free bun alternatives? I did not see any on the menu.? Would love to eat here but the regular buns make me sick
There's a Vegan burger on the menu that includes a Vegan bun. Other than that they have a plant based patty substitute. All others seem to be a toasted sesame seed bun.

What type of plant based burger do you offer? Are they really $6 more? So, over $20 for any plant based burger?

Do they have gluten free bread for their burgers?
Yes! The bun featured on the Vegan Burger is gluten-free so you can ask to have that bun put on your burger.
