I visited here around 7:18pm on a Wednesday night with my 2 sons to get dinner. This was recommended by a staff member at my hotel for having good pizza. (Note: I am on a mission to find the "best" pizza in Chicago). The restaurant was busy on arrival but the aroma was very pleasing when I walked in. At the host stand, I was told it would be about a 10 minute wait. We only waited 5 minutes before being seated at a high top closer to the bar. A person came at 7:26pm to give us waters and the waiter came about a minute later. We ordered at 7:36pm. I ordered us a 12in pepperoni Chicago thin crust pizza and a 12in russo sausage pizza for the 3 of us to share. I wanted to try both the deep dish and the thin crust. I also got us garlic knots as an appetizer. For a beverage, I got the barrel aged manhattan. The waiter stated his name was Ozzie, after we ordered. My beverage came at 7:39pm and it was delicious. At 7:44pm, a staff member brought over fried mozzarella, which the waiter put in instead of garlic knots. Waiter came over to double check what I ordered and corrected the mistake. The garlic knots came 2 minutes later. The done of the 3 varies with one being cooked perfectly, one being in the middle, and one being a little over cooked. The one I had was delicious, especially paired with the sauce. The pizza came at 7:55pm and boy was it a lot of pizza! So much so, that we now have lunch for tomorrow, haha. The deep dish was definitely better than the deep dish pizza I had at another local place. I have mixed feelings about the thin crust. The pepperoni was crispy, which was great, and I liked the seasoning; i was not too found of the crust though. Overall, I'd say it was a positive experience. I've been walking past this restaurant for a few months now and Monday I decided to give it a try. From outside it looked empty, but once you go inside, it's giving a sports/ live and loud environment. Extremely busy and fast pace.. We were seated right away. We let our server know that it was our first time asked about the menu what was popular and highly recommended he told us the thin crust pizza is very good and the pasta. I ordered chicken Alfredo" never can go wrong with that" my friend ordered a cheeseburger with fries then I ordered a old-fashioned" Let's talk about it. I ask our server what type of whiskey used inside. He did not know however I asked how much the old-fashioned was can I substitute for Makers mark he said yes, but never gave me a price. Received our food promptly hot prepared perfectly. Drink was made great but when we received the check. It said I was charged $14 for makers mark and charge an additional 4 dollars for the old-fashioned. At this point I needed clarity and could not find my waiter. Decided to stop another waiter and they couldn't explain to me why I was charged two separate times eventually, the manager came over and he wanted to hear what I had to say and explain to me that the old-fashioned is $18 in which the server never explained. Had an unplanned lunch here on Sunday for Mother's Day. I had the spaghetti with chicken instead of beef. The sauce was to thick and tasted much like spaghetti-os out the can. The flame broil taste from the chicken was good and also the garlic bread. Service was not great. By the time my waitor checked back in, I was done eating and asking for a to go box. The atmosphere is good for a variety , date night, or lunch with friends. It seemed casual but a few people were dressed business casual. Met up with our son from Perdue for a weekend in Chicago - chose Labriola because they served both Tavern style pizza and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza - so of course we had to order both! I came here for Chicago Restaurant Week which was a walkable distance from The Bean. I chose this place mainly for the price point and the four course pre fixe menu. This was a perfect choice for 6 ppl! Place is casual, meant for relaxed dining that welcomes weary shoppers into its warm ambiance. I chose the following (I think these are half size portions and possibly the dessert being full size). Caesar Salad Rigatoni Alla Vodka - Perfect portion size and loved the vodka sauce. Were were a large group in town for an event and looking to get some food close to where our hotel was. They were able to accommodate our large group via a reservation on Open Table. We arrived and were seated right away and greeted by a friendly server (forgot his name). We all ordered different items, but I wanted to have some pizza. I opted for the thin deep dish so it was not as much (was still too much food), but was delicious. The Stracciatella cheese on top was perfect and there were lots of mushrooms. We sat at a high top which worked, but it was a little tight between us and the table behind us. We all made it work and enjoyed our food. This was a new experience for me and the bit only was the crust crispy but the cheese was gooey which gave you the satisfaction of pulling apart the pizza. Easy spot to get a reservation at last minute, the restaurant is huge. They have a very cute outdoor patio area unfortunately it was a bit chilly to sit outside on our visit. Service was great! Pizzas were delicious and full of flavor. French dip was good but was cold by the time it came out which was disappointing. Drinks were great I had tart cherry sangria! I was looking for an authentic pizza spot in Chicago on my visit that wouldn't be so touristy or even a chain. This place was highly recommended and I'm so glad I went. I did what I do whenever I'm in a new city trying the "typical" cuisine. I asked the waiter, who was very friendly and helpful, what pizza he'd recommend to a first timer in Chicago. He recommended going the pizza half one style and have another to double my chances of trying different things. A brilliant idea! He recommended the Burrata and Basil on one half and the Danny's Special on the other. WIN AND WIN. Both were delicious and tasted so fresh. I'll admit the pizza took a long time to come out so allocate plenty of time because it's worth the wait. Also, don't go alone. That pizza is far too much for one person to have. After ordering drinks -- Pink's Garden and No Trouble in Paradise were favorites of the group -- we enjoyed the very traditional antipasto salad and some delicious garlic knots. The appetizers are where it's at. The Bruschetta and fried mozzarella were both excellent (and the cheese pull we got was pretty sweet- just saying) You'd think the pasta would be the stand out, but it was a dud for me. Definitely had better, especially at $26. I tasted some other options with the marinara (aka sticking my fork into my friends plate) and would recommend going that route if you're craving pasta. That being said: I'd definitely just go for apps and a drink. Bonus points if it's happy hour for discounts, as Mag Mile restaurant means Mag Mile prices. read more

When in Chicago, you have to try deep dish pizza! I'm not usually a big fan of it, but maybe that's because I'd only ever had it in California. I told my husband I'd give it another shot--and I'm so glad I did! The dough was airy and delicious, and there wasn't too much sauce, which I appreciated since that's what usually turns me off about other deep dish pizzas. The Danny Special was my favorite. I also ordered the Burrata Basil pizza, which was good, but the Danny Special definitely won me over. I had a cherry sangria (I can't remember the exact name), but it was really delicious. The waitress was wonderful--she took the time to explain everything to us and even let me film her serving the deep dish pizza. All in all, this is a pretty darn good classic Chicago Italian restaurant. We have a day off to explore Chicago and we wanted a quintessential Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and Labriola delivers, taste wise. The Danny Special with its Sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green pepper is its take on the supreme pizza on deep dish and it has a nice balance of the fluffy full body deep dish with a nice crispiness over the top. Of the crust. It's fulfilling, that's for sure. The fillet slider is not too bad, but is largely forgettable. I think it can use a bit more flavor with the fillet itself, if anything. A bit more seasoning could help. The garlic knot is surprising because the dough is pretty darn flaky, not doughy. I thought it'd be more like a pretzel or sourdough variety, so it was interesting. It can use a bit more kick on the garlic, however. Overall, the service, decor and ambience are great. read more

I was in Chicago with my folks and we were so smitten with this place we went several times. Their blood orange burrata was the most amazing dish. We changed up what we ate each time and their pizza and everything else for that matter is just delicious. We got my nephew one of their "Legalize Marinara" shirts. We were enjoying our meal and this little dude about 6 years old walks by with this epic donut. We found out that Stan's Donuts is there too. What a concept. We decided to split one and let me tell you it was ridiculously tasty. This place is nestled off Michigan Ave and their ambience is romance meets fun. Disappointed that I read reviews that mentioned personal pie but when I got there and sat down I found out only 12" and up. This was my first Chicago deep dish even though I've been to the many times. So I was stuck ordering 12". It's kind of like the old style Pizza Hut with cheese and sauce flipped. The pie seemed hot at first but it was only the crust and the cheese was barely melted and didn't blend with the sauce at all. I got a plain with sausage and it was definitely missing something it was blah. I should've ordered it well done to get it cooked. The service was excellent. The hostess let me have a small booth even though busy. Restaurants need to understand middle age people with bad backs need to rest lol. I had more than half leftover and actually tasted slightly better leftover and cold but it was soggy. Im definitely critical because I'm New Yorker and I've had the best pizza nyc and Italy but this is really close to Pizza Hut. Cook your pizza more and serve it hot! read more

In town for meetings and joined a corporate dinner in Labriola's private room--gorgeous setup (see pic!) but fair warning: still very loud despite the "private" label. This place buzzes. The team took great care of us--warm, efficient service and a fixed menu of Italian comfort hits: Caesar salad, spaghetti + meatballs, eggplant parm, chicken parm. Nothing fancy, just solid classics that hit the spot. Dessert? Cannolis and cheesecake were fine, but the olive oil cake was the star. Moist, flavorful, and totally unexpected. This location has their ducks in row. My party of six was sat down in the private dining lounge. It was peaceful and away from the bar/ front entrance. The skirt steak had to be one of my favorite steak and fries I have ever encountered. However, their pizza is a close second. You can tell they use fresh Mariana sauce due to the quality of taste. Was visiting Chicago and was fortunate to discover Labriola. On our visit it was a busy Sunday night, but we were lucky enough to get an outside table with no wait. We started with the Toasted Ravoili appetizers which was an exciting combination of braised beef, cherry tomatoes and calabrina chili and I must say it was a delightful surprise. For our entrees we enjoyed Chicken Parmesan which was served with two generous portions of chicken breasts, spaghetti with freshly made marinara and topped with mozzarella. Having had this dish at several old school Italian restaurants I can say this was the best Chicken Parmesan I have had at any establishment. We also dined on the Spaghetti and Mama's Meatballs entree. This is a simple dish that I have enjoyed across the country. Their traditional take on this dish was authenticity wonderful with pasta, marinara and perfectly seasoned meatballs. Our time at Labriola was a perfect authentic dining experience so I highly recommend this place if you are visiting and want to experience the great food this city has to offer.
