I've dine here multiple times throughout the years picking this spot in the summer because of the ideal location and outside seating options which is comfortable for people watching. Yesterday I finally wanted to try their "deep dish" which is $22 plain cheese but mostly chopped salty tomatoes, very little cheese, a caramelized outside crust that's burnt and crisp and a very soggy bottom layer that wasn't very tasty or remarkable. I will say my pyrenees absolutely relished the two slices I fed him and that's what matters most but if you're a picky eater like me who expects more taste and interesting spices this skinny version of deep dish may disappoint you. I am a native Chicagoan and I've sampled and enjoyed a wide variety of deep dish variations both within the city of Chicago and the neighborhood burbs surrounding the city. I found the chopped tomatoes to be way too salty and the crust at the end to be too burned to my liking. I found out after dining outside that there was a happy hour going on when I arrived but it's only available to customers who dine inside and choose the bar section with the high top tables making it impossible to order from that menu if you brought your dog with you to enjoy outside eating. Even though the pizza was a generous size it didn't have much creativity or taste just a load of salt. I thought the staff and service was excellent but overall the prices here don't match the quality of food you expect for the prices. Not my first pick for deep dish but a relaxing spot to enjoy outside dining. You can order a lunch deal by dining outside but none of the happy hour items.
Stopped here on the way to Wisconsin for deep dish pizza and it was so delicious! We got the pepperoni deep dish pizza with onion and it couldn't have been more perfect. The sauce was so flavorful and delicious. Service was slightly slow and took about 15 mins for the sever to come to us for the first time but didn't effect our experience much. Our sever was very kind! I also got a margarita which you could tell was high quality and delicious. Be aware that it is more of an expensive restaurant. Would come back.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner here with my daughter recently. The wait staff was excellent, as was the food. We shared the short rib ravioli and a pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious. The bread service was also good, and I loved the salty creamy butter. Vibe here is warm and friendly. I'd definitely visit again!
Although this spot is known for its deep dish, this may be some of the best pasta I've had in a while. We snagged a last minute Saturday reservation and were able to get a seat outside. If the weather allows, I would highly recommend this. It was quite pleasant, and inside seemed like a sports-bar vibe. I ordered the Heirloom Tomato Gnocchi, which includes Housemade Ricotta Gnocchi, Heirloom & Cherry Tomatoes, Stracciatella, and Basil. It arrived promptly in a charming blue and white bowl. The gnocchi was soft and flavorful, and the tomatoes were cooked to perfection. Oftentimes I find that cheese in pasta doesn't last more than a few bites, but the gooey stracciatella stayed delicious throughout the dish. The Pinot Grigio complemented it nicely, making it the perfect way to end a summer day.
Had an unplanned lunch here on Sunday for Mother's Day. I had the spaghetti with chicken instead of beef. The sauce was to thick and tasted much like spaghetti-os out the can. The flame broil taste from the chicken was good and also the garlic bread. Service was not great. By the time my waitor checked back in, I was done eating and asking for a to go box. The atmosphere is good for a variety , date night, or lunch with friends. It seemed casual but a few people were dressed business casual. This place was nothing spectacular from the food to the service. Most likely, I wouldn't eat here again.
I visited here around 7:18pm on a Wednesday night with my 2 sons to get dinner. This was recommended by a staff member at my hotel for having good pizza. (Note: I am on a mission to find the "best" pizza in Chicago). The restaurant was busy on arrival but the aroma was very pleasing when I walked in. At the host stand, I was told it would be about a 10 minute wait. We only waited 5 minutes before being seated at a high top closer to the bar. A person came at 7:26pm to give us waters and the waiter came about a minute later. We ordered at 7:36pm. I ordered us a 12in pepperoni Chicago thin crust pizza and a 12in russo sausage pizza for the 3 of us to share. I wanted to try both the deep dish and the thin crust. I also got us garlic knots as an appetizer. For a beverage, I got the barrel aged manhattan. The waiter stated his name was Ozzie, after we ordered. My beverage came at 7:39pm and it was delicious. At 7:44pm, a staff member brought over fried mozzarella, which the waiter put in instead of garlic knots. Waiter came over to double check what I ordered and corrected the mistake. The garlic knots came 2 minutes later. The done of the 3 varies with one being cooked perfectly, one being in the middle, and one being a little over cooked. The one I had was delicious, especially paired with the sauce. The pizza came at 7:55pm and boy was it a lot of pizza! So much so, that we now have lunch for tomorrow, haha. The deep dish was definitely better than the deep dish pizza I had at another local place. I have mixed feelings about the thin crust. The pepperoni was crispy, which was great, and I liked the seasoning; i was not too found of the crust though. Overall, I'd say it was a positive experience. In the group behind us, there was a birthday and they gave them a dessert with a sparkler candle. It was nice!
Great service. The staff were friendly, waiter was attentive, and they have separate staff for taking plates and filling water which circulate the entire meal. The interior is very cozy with a good amount of seating. We were happy to have a reservation as it was busy. Food was good. I had an Aperol Nero to drink, and for dinner, Linguine Fra Diavolo. Overall good taste - calamari was impossible to chew through - likely overcooked in the red sauce. Thank you for an overall good experience!
I came here for Chicago Restaurant Week which was a walkable distance from The Bean. I chose this place mainly for the price point and the four course pre fixe menu. This was a perfect choice for 6 ppl! Place is casual, meant for relaxed dining that welcomes weary shoppers into its warm ambiance. I chose the following (I think these are half size portions and possibly the dessert being full size). Caesar Salad Rigatoni Alla Vodka - Perfect portion size and loved the vodka sauce. Pistachio Crusted Whitefish - Despite the unappealing plating, this dish was pretty good! Portion size was kinda small but since this was a four course menu, it's to be expected. Tiramisu - This was mainly Mascarpone mousse. I had barely any ladyfingers in my dessert. Service was pretty good. The waitress and staff checked on us quite often despite the restaurant being busy. Solid choice for the amount of menu items you get per person.
I really wanted to love this place because the food was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the service left a really bad taste in our mouth. It felt incredibly shady. First, they charged us for an IPA that we ordered but they never actually brought to the table. Second, it was my birthday, and the server asked me, *"What would you like for your birthday gelato?"* naturally making us think it was a nice complimentary gesture for the celebration. Nope--they tacked it right onto the bill. The kitchen deserves 5 stars, but front-of-house management needs to fix these sneaky tactics. Check your receipt before you leave!
Labriolas deep dish was a bust. The focaccia style crust was delicious, but they were skimpy on the fillings. The fried calamari was decent, and we loved the mocktails. The service was quick and polite, accommodating with our questions. The diner style old school Italian vibes were comforting, with room for small or big groups because there was ample space.
Were were a large group in town for an event and looking to get some food close to where our hotel was. They were able to accommodate our large group via a reservation on Open Table. We arrived and were seated right away and greeted by a friendly server (forgot his name). We all ordered different items, but I wanted to have some pizza. I opted for the thin deep dish so it was not as much (was still too much food), but was delicious. The Stracciatella cheese on top was perfect and there were lots of mushrooms. We sat at a high top which worked, but it was a little tight between us and the table behind us. We all made it work and enjoyed our food. They also have a large drink menu and I opted to try the Sangria. It was good. I'm sure there are a lot of pizza and Italian places, but this was great since there was such a variety of food. My kids opted for the steak and the filet sliders. They said they were delicious and really enjoyed them so it was great to have different options for everyone to get something they were in the mood for.
Met up with our son from Perdue for a weekend in Chicago - chose Labriola because they served both Tavern style pizza and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza - so of course we had to order both! Tavern style was thin and crisp and served piping hot with mushrooms and olives and sausage - delicious - and we ordered the marguerita deep dish - so much deliciousness that I ate another slice after I was full lol - great service with a smile, easy to get a reservation, table was kept watered and clear - I would definitely come here again when we come to Chicago again!
1st stop for Chicago Restaurant Week 2026. This is a great option for a $45 dinner with a great value. One of the few 4 courses options at the $45 price point. I had the calamari, tagliatelle, lemon chicken, and panna cotta. Most of the food was good and I had leftovers to take home. Only thing I didnt love was the panna cotta. I would suggest getting the tiramisu instead. In addition to the restaurant week deal they also have a monthly wine deal where a certain bottle is only $25. The atmosphere is classic Italian with a spacious dining area. Recommend to try out for Restaurant Week

When in Chicago, one must try pizza. We were in search of a deep dish pizza and this place was close to our hotel. .7 mile walk and we were there. We booked our dinner vis OpenTable and when we got there we were warmly greeted and seated. I didn't realize this place was big and crowded. Good thing for reservations!! We had a delicious Caesar salad and tried the deep dish pizza (pie). I asked the waitress about the size since I was going to get the larger but she suggested the smaller since it was filling. I barely finished two slices and had plenty to take home!! It was crowded and packed so the noise level was loud but we were able to hear each other and enjoyed our time there. read more
This was not my first time at this restaurant and I've always been satisfied with the service and the food. This time, both service and food was off. I stood at the interior host desk for about 10 minutes, several people had walked past me with out stating the checkin desk is on the patio which no one there either. I was finally seated. Since I'm familiar with the menu, I decided to go for the Richies Lemon Chicken. The meal was delivered within appropriate time. The breading on the chicken was so soggy and it was falling off the chicken. Bryan, server, did check in with me couple of times. Overall, the food was okay. There's a patio with plenty of smaller tables available. The bar / interior bar area is very lively with the bar and various sizes of tables. I've never found it area to be load. I would go back to since I've always had a great experience. read more

Had to come back for another happy hour! Truly my favorite happy hour spot so far and the best deals + best sized HH menu. The spritz and sangrias are perfect for the weather getting warmer. This time I tried the pizza too and it was pretty decent for only being $10 (I think?) with HH pricing. Good snack to share. Got the calamari again because I liked it a lot last time! read more
I'm back, ordered the same thing, Danny's deep dish with extra sauce and yes still Amazing. My previous review still stands. Pro tip, the 12 inch($33) will feed at least 3 if not 4. Skip the appetizers and you'll have an excellent bargain dinner on Michigan Ave. read more

Came here on a Thursday for a late lunch and got seated promptly. The service was attentive and kind. The deep dish was good. Not the best I've had, but still solid. Unfortunately the brussel sprout appetizer was not as good - a bit soggy and too lemony. read more

I have been to Labriola numerous times and have always had great food and experiences, which is why this visit was so disappointing. My daughter and I came into the city specifically to have lunch at Labriola. She ordered the Rigatoni alla Vodka with added sausage, and I ordered the filet sliders as my meal. My lunch arrived first and was hot, so my daughter insisted I go ahead and eat. I finished my entire meal before her food even made it to the table. I asked our waiter twice to check on her order, and both times he told us there had been some kind of glitch in the system. By the time her meal finally arrived, I was completely finished eating. Instead of enjoying lunch together, she had to rush through her meal while I simply watched. To make matters worse, the Rigatoni alla Vodka was served with shell pasta instead of rigatoni. For a nearly $60 lunch, the experience was very disappointing. I've always enjoyed dining at Labriola, so I hope this was just an isolated incident and that they'll do a better job ensuring orders are served together and accurately in the future read more
I was looking for an authentic pizza spot in Chicago on my visit that wouldn't be so touristy or even a chain. This place was highly recommended and I'm so glad I went. I did what I do whenever I'm in a new city trying the "typical" cuisine. I asked the waiter, who was very friendly and helpful, what pizza he'd recommend to a first timer in Chicago. He recommended going the pizza half one style and have another to double my chances of trying different things. A brilliant idea! He recommended the Burrata and Basil on one half and the Danny's Special on the other. WIN AND WIN. Both were delicious and tasted so fresh. I'll admit the pizza took a long time to come out so allocate plenty of time because it's worth the wait. Also, don't go alone. That pizza is far too much for one person to have. Go with a friend or two because each slide is massive and heavy. The atmosphere was quiet and service was very friendly. Highly recommend because as I was told by a friend, this spot is the only "correct" choice. read more

Was looking for a place to eat lunch today on the mile. Was feeling some Italian food but not pizza so I gave this place a shot. The spaghetti and meatballs tasted homemade. It was really well made. The indoor and outdoor seating gave the place a nice rustic vibe. The staff was friendly and refilled my drink before it got close to becoming empty. read more

First night in Chicago and was so happy to try both deep and thin style Chicago pizza! Don't underestimate the salad. The Arugala was great! It was a bit loud but for a Saturday night, but surprising. read more
In Chicago for work and wanted to try some good pizza. The waitress said the deep dish is too much for one person so I ordered a thin crust. She recommended the Italian beef and giardiniera and I was so glad. If you like a little crunch this is for you because inside was peperccini, carrots, celery. This was a new experience for me and the bit only was the crust crispy but the cheese was gooey which gave you the satisfaction of pulling apart the pizza. Noise level inside is loud and gets crowded after 6pm for dinner, even on a Thursday night. Highly recommend the pizza and I will definitely put this spot on my list for the my return. One gripe was with the pepper flake Shaker, the peppers were difficult to shake out. read more

I've been walking past this restaurant for a few months now and Monday I decided to give it a try. From outside it looked empty, but once you go inside, it's giving a sports/ live and loud environment. Extremely busy and fast pace.. We were seated right away. We let our server know that it was our first time asked about the menu what was popular and highly recommended he told us the thin crust pizza is very good and the pasta. I ordered chicken Alfredo" never can go wrong with that" my friend ordered a cheeseburger with fries then I ordered a old-fashioned" Let's talk about it. I ask our server what type of whiskey used inside. He did not know however I asked how much the old-fashioned was can I substitute for Makers mark he said yes, but never gave me a price. Received our food promptly hot prepared perfectly. Drink was made great but when we received the check. It said I was charged $14 for makers mark and charge an additional 4 dollars for the old-fashioned. At this point I needed clarity and could not find my waiter. Decided to stop another waiter and they couldn't explain to me why I was charged two separate times eventually, the manager came over and he wanted to hear what I had to say and explain to me that the old-fashioned is $18 in which the server never explained. Overall, it was a 4 of 10 experience and I'll give it another try. read more
Absolutely packed on a Friday evening, so make reservations. The staff is all friendly, but be prepared to wait a while to get your order in or the check on weekends, as they seem to be overwhelmed. The appetizers are where it's at. The Bruschetta and fried mozzarella were both excellent (and the cheese pull we got was pretty sweet- just saying) You'd think the pasta would be the stand out, but it was a dud for me. Definitely had better, especially at $26. I tasted some other options with the marinara (aka sticking my fork into my friends plate) and would recommend going that route if you're craving pasta. That being said: I'd definitely just go for apps and a drink. Bonus points if it's happy hour for discounts, as Mag Mile restaurant means Mag Mile prices. read more
Easy spot to get a reservation at last minute, the restaurant is huge. They have a very cute outdoor patio area unfortunately it was a bit chilly to sit outside on our visit. Service was great! Pizzas were delicious and full of flavor. French dip was good but was cold by the time it came out which was disappointing. Drinks were great I had tart cherry sangria! No room for dessert but the donut shop connected looked amazing. There are lots of spots to try in Chicago so not sure I would go back but a solid spot if you need a reservation. read more
When in Chicago, you have to try deep dish pizza! I'm not usually a big fan of it, but maybe that's because I'd only ever had it in California. I told my husband I'd give it another shot--and I'm so glad I did! The dough was airy and delicious, and there wasn't too much sauce, which I appreciated since that's what usually turns me off about other deep dish pizzas. The Danny Special was my favorite. I also ordered the Burrata Basil pizza, which was good, but the Danny Special definitely won me over. I had a cherry sangria (I can't remember the exact name), but it was really delicious. All in all, this is a pretty darn good classic Chicago Italian restaurant. We have a day off to explore Chicago and we wanted a quintessential Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and Labriola delivers, taste wise. The Danny Special with its Sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green pepper is its take on the supreme pizza on deep dish and it has a nice balance of the fluffy full body deep dish with a nice crispiness over the top. Of the crust. It's fulfilling, that's for sure. The fillet slider is not too bad, but is largely forgettable. I think it can use a bit more flavor with the fillet itself, if anything. A bit more seasoning could help. The garlic knot is surprising because the dough is pretty darn flaky, not doughy. I thought it'd be more like a pretzel or sourdough variety, so it was interesting. It can use a bit more kick on the garlic, however. Overall, the service, decor and ambience are great. read more
We arrived for our 8 pm reservation and were seated right away in the packed restaurant with an "energetic" noise level. After ordering drinks -- Pink's Garden and No Trouble in Paradise were favorites of the group -- we enjoyed the very traditional antipasto salad and some delicious garlic knots. In fact, we ordered a second round of garlic knots while we waited for our pizza. Our 14" Danny's Special Deep Dish pizza was tasty but the center was grossly undercooked, keeping this from being a five-star review. Honestly, I think it's more about the hour of our reservation (8 pm) than anything else -- clearly, the kitchen was closing up once they got our pizza out of there. Did everyone have a slice or two? I had a lovely time dining outside. Good beer selection on tap and the eggplant parm was delicious. The fantastic service by Esteban was very much appreciated. I was dining alone on what was a busy late afternoon and never once felt rushed, unlike in some other Chicago restaurants. I also enjoyed dining inside at Labiola a few years ago. Comfortable ambience, football on the TV, and there's a donut shop right next door. Highly recommend. read more

Labriola is hands-down one of my favorite deep-dish spots in Chicago! The pizza is perfectly sized, the crust has the ideal texture, and the flavors are on point. Went for a double meat topping this time--so good! The vibe is lively, with options to sit at the bar or on the patio. Servers are fast, and the semi-open kitchen lets you watch the pizzas bake. Don't sleep on the garlic knots and house salad--they're just as delicious as the pizza. read more

The toasted ravioli was excellent! The pizza was hot and served quickly. Drinks were fun and the staff was amazing - very attentive filling water glasses, clearing plates and making sure we had everything we wanted. The manager in training also deserves a special shoutout - he was attentive and made us feel special. Also loved the black & white theme in the bathroom - it was very clean and well maintained. We will def visit again when in Chicago! read more

What a great place to eat! We had a work lunch and we had a great experience. The service was great, the place looked awesome, and honestly the vibe in it gave me a feeling like I wasn't even in Chicago for a minute. The food was great! I had Chicken Parmesan, garlic knots, tiramisu, and the tiramisu creme brûlée. The meal size was massive too! I usually don't have leftovers but I had some that I was excited to eat later. Plus, the location? Near the river, downtown? 5/5! I'll definitely be back! read more

Nope. Art of Pizza sells pizza by the slice.
Is this an ok place to take children for an early dinner on a weekday? I'm not worried about the food, I'm worried about the atmosphere. (They are really well-behaved kids)
