My family of four tried Gooyi92 for the first time and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant is not big but a decent size. The server was very friendly and nice which made it more enjoyable. Everything tasted fresh and yummy, and the price was reasonable with the combo deals. They also have lunch specials during the week. The server cooked everything for us, and it was nice to just enjoy eating without having to worry about cooking the meat ourselves. The only thing we missed was rice papers that my son loved to eat whenever we have Korean BBQ. I would definitely be back and recommend it to anyone who wants Korean BBQ.

Came here for their lunch special so the rating is only for their lunch special. The lunch pricing definitely makes a great value for a nice restaurant in Irvine, but unfortunately the menu doesn't include any of their grilled specialties so not sure how their actual grilled dishes compare. Food itself was good, but not unique. I got the beef brisket soft tofu stew and soy sauce chicken rice bowl. The tofu stew soup spice level could not be adjusted, so they'll give you water to dilute if it's too spicy. The chicken in the rice bowl was on the sweeter side but the meat itself was very tender. The banchans were unique, a good taste that you don't usually get at other Korean restaurants. Service was good, but it was also a weekday lunch without many people so not sure how it'll be during a lunch rush. Overall, good value but would probably go elsewhere if you're looking for standard Korean dishes.

This place is a really good mid-range bbq place -- by mid-range I'm defining price and expectations ... It's not a super cheap AYCE-stuff-your-face place and not a super high-end place you might end up spending 4-figures on ... I've never been to a place that partially cooks the meat before bringing it out ... But the results speak for themselves! It's great! The meat tasted great and it was all cooked perfectly. The servers did a great job of really taking care to make sure the meat was cooked just right and then took it all off the grill for us. They were also very attentive and refilled our banchan as we got short. Overall, a great experience. We'll definitely come again -- particularly when we want bbq but don't necessarily want to crawl out completely stuffed.

Food: 4/5 My favorite was abomasum and large intestine. The small intestine was good but not amazing. Tripe fried rice was okay 3/5. Beef tofu soups is on the saltier side for my taste. Everything else was good. Service: Staffs are friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: The restaurant is nice and clean. Plenty of seats inside. Good for one big group of 8-10 people. There was no wait when I went at 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Surprisingly, it was not that crowded at all. Will be back to try their other dishes.

It used to be my favorite place and I came here a lot , but seems like the food quality and service has gone down a lot , server was extremely cold and didn't provided a good service, when we told her there was a fly in the salad , she didn't care and just took the plate away. Not coming back for sure .

My favorite place in Irvine. I'm not even joking. The servers are always really sweet and get you seated quickly. The music is usually some piano cover of modern songs so it's fun to guess. You're barely waiting for 5 seconds until they ask to take your order. They are THAT good (at least during lunch time). And that lunch special??? Heavenly and good for the budget. I recommend getting the spicy chicken rice bowl. Or the Tofu Stew. Or the Udon Noodles. Or anything really, it's all delicious. I wish they had more locations because it's quite a drive for me BUT it's worth it. PLEASE try for yourself! :)

Discovered this hidden gem with awesome lunch specials, which were $11.92 per item. We got the stir-fried pork, soft tofu stew with noodles, cream udon, lunch soy sauce chicken rice bowl (all $11.92) and a bunch of complimentary banchans. We saw the steamed egg on the menu, so we had to get that (regular price). The stir fried pork is the best bang for the buck with generous portions. Tender, flavorful, and delicious over a bed of rice. The lunch soy sauce chicken can be more than one meal and is your best bet if you want something filling and quick. Service was friendly, quick, and attentive. We added this to our usual lunch rotation because of the lunch specials and awesome banchan. The interior is clean and has a classy and modern feel. Located in the corner of Culver and Irvine Blvd in the H-Mart Plaza, parking can be a challenge when it gets busy.

I love this place! Barbecue sandwiches are reasonable. The beef soup pretty good. I always like to order the mango ice smoothie-service clean restaurant. I go every week if I could.

I was so incredibly impressed by this place. We were able to make it in time for the lunch menu and it was an out of this world value for amazing food at a really reasonable price. There's plenty of parking and the service was impeccable. And honestly this is one of the few times where I agreed with the restaurants description of elevated dining. It's just really solid good quality Korean food for grade prices and a really sophisticated experience. Will definitely be back here next time I'm in the area

Definitely a go-to place for gopchang in irvine! I usually get intestine bbq combo, but this time I tried gopchang jungol which was also really good. It's a bit spicy so be aware if you don't handle spiciness well.

Pretty good korean barbecue but very pricey. They cook the meat for you but overcook it so the meat is pretty tough when you eat it. No wait on the weekends.

Nice Korean BBQ spot in Irvine! I always appreciate unique meats when doing KBBQ. My table had different parts of the stomach, not my cup of tea, but it looked great. I had the Lunch Special chicken, smokey and charred, just delicious! Banchan was flowing, love getting refills!

    Cold kimchi noodles (lunch special)
    Liz B.

Their weekday lunch special is very affordable at $12 per dish. The tofu soup was very flavorful and the perfect amount of spice. The cold kimchi noodle was also refreshing, though I wish it came with some protein. I'd like to come back to try the bbq, the other tables that ordered it looked good and the waiter helped cook their meats. Service was quick, and the spot is located in a busy plaza with lots of other Asian restaurants next door, but parking is never hard.

But I didn't. If a restaurant is closed on certain days, their reservation system shouldn't allow bookings or send confirmations for those days. We never even made it inside, so I can't comment on the food--but this was a frustrating first impression and something they really need to fix.

There is stuff that's still there when you walk in and is available. First off service was great. They take the time at the cash to explain to you what everything is and you get a chance to see how much you've ordered and if it's not enough, you can add right away. Not that I can say I'm all that surprised in hindsight, but it's still kind of a shame. Mostly because I just wish the food had been better, but also because, despite how impressive the OC food scene is, I hadn't come across any BBQ joints/Cantonese restaurants that SF has so many of until randomly stumbling across this place! Then again, maybe I've just been too distracted by the many Taiwanese options that the Bay Area is so criminally short on... Compared to some of the Chinese BBQ joints that I frequent in the Bay Area, this place felt so much newer and a whole lot cleaner/nicer. That said, while the menu appeared to be a whole lot narrower, they still had a decent selection of offerings to choose from. Along with their nearly twenty different sides/snack dishes, which include items like pig ears with chili sauce, cucumber salad, chicken wings, wontons in chili oil, and tofu skin salad, they also had BBQ meats, like Roasted Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, and Char Siu, a mix of rice and noodle dishes, and combination plates of their BBQ meats over rice or noodles. Sadly, though, no crispy skin roast pork, which was a huge bummer. -- SWEET FRIED CORN Admittedly, this initially didn't catch my eye, but I'm glad we ended up trying it. Every piece was crispy and I liked how sweet and flavorful the corn was. Plus, it was how this wasn't all that oily, though, I wouldn't have minded a bit more batter for some added crunch. -- WONTONS IN CHILI OIL Not too shabby. Although the skins felt a little overcooked, each piece was fairly plump and I thought the filling was pretty tasty. It was also unexpected to see a bit of broth with the chili oil, but it had a nice flavor to it and just the right amount of spice. -- TWO BBQ ITEM RICE PLATE with Char Siu and Roasted Duck I was the most excited for this, but it left me feeling conflicted. On the plus side, the bowl had a fair amount of both meats and the duck was really good - really juicy and the skin was golden brown. On the other hand, the char siu was super fatty and the rice was mushy. -- DICED GROUND PORK ON RICE...$13.99 More solid than spectacular, but still satisfying enough. Like with the BBQ plate, the meat to rice ratio favored the former and I thought the egg and the veggies complemented this well. At the same time, I wish this had more sauce to it, as the pork look a little dry/pale. In addition to how convenient it was to come here (there was a steady crowd, but it never got packed inside), I appreciated how fast our food came out. Also, I'm not sure if we just got lucky, but it wasn't nearly as hard to find a space in the complex's parking lot as it seemed it would be. Between all of that, the food being decent, and the relatively friendly service, Frank's BBQ & Noodles wasn't bad for some Chinese BBQ. However, it definitely could've been better, especially if Roast Pork had been one of their offerings!

The food still tastes pretty much the same, although some portions did get a little bigger. I still wish it were more like the Rowland Heights location where the skewers are grilled right in front of you -- that experience just makes the food feel fresher and more enjoyable. The service was okay overall, but some staff members definitely had attitudes, which made the experience a bit annoying. They're only open at night now, which honestly makes sense since this type of food is more of a late-night craving spot. I also came back to try their crawfish for the first time, but personally I feel like 949 Grill does it better. The crawfish tasted fresher there, and I think their skewers are better quality now too. Business also seemed much slower than before. I think being closed for 6 months really hurt them because a lot of people probably forgot about the place.

The dining area was noticeably cold, and the temperature didn't appear adjusted for the low occupancy. This became more obvious as the food arrived, since everything cooled down quickly. Even with metal warming trays, the dishes struggled to retain heat, and once barbecue items turn lukewarm, both texture and flavour decline noticeably. Across the meats, there was a surprising lack of differentiation in marination. The lamb skewers, beef tongue, and other grilled items all seemed to share the same base seasoning, with only the sauces changing to distinguish them. The lamb skewers themselves were very lean, cut into uniform blocks that looked tidy but lacked richness and the expected fatty depth that gives lamb its aroma and juiciness. The beef tongue was slightly more enjoyable, but still arrived lukewarm, which dulled its texture and impact. The signature chicken wings were slightly dry, with a sauce that didn't add much dimension. The grilled scallop dish was the most disappointing--mostly vermicelli with only a minimal amount of scallop, leaving it dry and lacking substance. That said, the highlight of the night was unexpectedly the fried chicken skin chicharrón. Crisp, airy, and indulgently fatty, it delivered exactly what the rest of the meal was missing--heat, texture, and unapologetic flavour. I didn't explore much beyond the barbecue items and a few appetizers, as the consistency already raised questions about the rest of the menu. The meal ended up being mostly cold beer paired with lukewarm meats and limited service attention. Even getting staff attention for drinks required effort. Overall, the experience felt flat and underpowered--especially because the core dishes never held temperature or distinction long enough to build impact, with the exception of a single standout in the fried chicken skin.

Our server asked if we been here before and if we wanted anything else besides water to drink. My brother and his fiance split a full order of the beef ribs and side order of sauteed garlic green beans. My mom and step dad split a full order of beef ribs while I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs which came with two side orders. I picked coleslaw and onion rings which I shared with the family. The food came out promptly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The baby back ribs were moist with flavor, smoked and went well with their bbq sauce. The rest of the family really like their beef ribs. *** SCAM ALERT *** I…read moredon't use the word "SCAM" lightly, but that's what this was. My adult son called in a $281.62 order off the menu for Mother's Day. They would not accept the order or payment over the phone because the order was "too big." They asked that someone go there and pay up front for the entire order. Since it was the evening before Mother's Day, I drove to them and paid for the order. Yes, I was also presented with a minumum 20% TIP screen, which I declined. When I got there at pickup time (4:00pm) on Mother's Day, the price changed to $325.51. I was told that, for some reason, they had cut about 50% larger portions than the menu specified (see the line items, which should have been 1 lb. each), so they charged me for the difference ($325.51 - $281.62) which was $43.89 (about 50% more for the 2 items they cut heavier). No, there was no mention when I placed the order that the total cost might change due to extra meat. Neither is it shown on their web site or printed menus. When I protested, there was no option. If I don't pay the $43.89 difference, I don't get the Mother's Day food. After about 20 minutes of bickering at the counter with two different clerks (note the time stamp differences on the credit card slips), I was given my original order, with a net price reduction of ($281.62 - $254.93) $26.69. My persistence had paid off. On a positive note, the cook did, twice, walk up to me and quietly apologize for what was going on. I know many folks would have folded in this situation, but that's not my nature. I don't stand for dishonesty. Yes, it was embarrassing, other clients in line were not happy (I let them skip ahead of me so as not to inconvenience them). None of them had price increases. I don't know if the clerks wanted a tip because the management doesn't pay them much, or it this goes deeper and is standard operating procedure that assumes most clients will simply approve of the overage and pay up. In any case, from this client's point of view, this is a SCAM! When it was all over, I took my 11 and 12 year old grandsons (who had been sitting patiently waiting for grandpa to pay) and my food package to the car, drove home and proudly presented the meat to my family. After all, I am a hunter-gatherer; and the food was great!
