Dada is one of the better ayce shabu places in OC!!! I called 3 days in advance for a big party of 30 people for a Saturday and they were able to make accommodations for our group. The restaurant was busy but all the servers were very quick and helpful attending to each table diligently. The buffet section was so clean and neat, constantly restocked despite there being so many people in that section at once! I love the variety of veggies, sides, and appetizers they have. We have been coming to this restaurant for years and have generally enjoyed it, but our most recent visit was very disappointing. The service was noticeably unfriendly and not very attentive. After waiting about 15-20 minutes between giving us plates of meat, our server finally returned, and when I asked about the delay, he said he was busy with other tables. During our wait, we also noticed cleanliness issues that were very concerning, including German cockroaches crawling around us. The food was also not up to the usual standard. We received two plates of meat. One was fine. The other arrived looking partially frozen and discolored, and after cooking it was very tough. The atmosphere was also unpleasant due to a constant beeping sound that became very distracting and even gave some of us headaches. When I raised these concerns at the front counter with someone who identified themselves as a senior staff member, the response was only an apology. We were told they were aware of ongoing pest control issues, which was very concerning to hear. There was no compensation offered for the experience. They don't blast loud music like a lot of Shabu and Korean barbecue restaurants do nowadays (a huge plus in my book!) What brought me here was their marinated raw crab, which is included even with their lunch menu! Pair with a bowl of white rice and it becomes a dangerous situation as you might forget that you're at a Shabu buffet while getting your fill of rice and crab! And how could I forget, they also have a shaved ice station, which is the perfect ending to your meal. Discovering an all you can eat Shabu, sushi, or Korean barbecue joint that includes dessert is always a good find! Oh and they also have jokbal, ddukboki, japchae, yangyum chicken, and other classic Korean foods to enjoy! They're located in the shopping plaza with Zion Market so again a great post errand meal option! My only criticism is that the way the restaurant is laid out could've been better thought through. I'm sure they purchased and repurposed the restaurant so not their fault but, the actual self serve buffet area is really compact so the traffic flow of people grabbing food gets a little tight. It's been ages since I last had Dada Shabu Shabu, so I brought my boyfriend here to experience it since I hyped it up to him lol. He did say it was ok and still preferred a different shabu places as it did not have enough meat options. I remember the buffet area having more options before, but it was still good. The yangnyeom gejang was so good that I barely ate much meat--I was mostly eating gejang with rice and noodles the whole time. We were seated right away and the servers were very attentive. This has always been one of our favorite places for AYCE shabu shabu. When we were younger we loved that it was AYCE. Now, we love the veggie and seafood bar that you can use. What we do is make a seafood broth first: crab, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Whether you eat all of that or not ... Now you have a great broth to cook your meat. Then, after having your fill of whatever meat you like ... You can make either rice porrage or ramen in the broth. To make porrage, ladel out the majority of the broth -- take out almost all of it, since you can always add a bit. Put in some rice ... The add an egg. You can add a little broth if needed. The servers are quick, nice, and accommodating. There's only one area to get the veggies, sides, and sauces which is different from All That Shabu that has two areas for grabbing the veggies and sides. This place was a little smaller, but it was fine. They even have a snow machine for shaved ice dessert. The toppings included homemade red bean, fruit cocktail, maraschino cherries, watermelon, mandarin oranges, mini mochi, condensed milk, matcha condensed milk (?) two syrups, etc. There's a soda machine, coffee, and water. We've been frequent customers at Dada Shabu Shabu, so this experience was especially disappointing. We brought guests visiting from abroad and left feeling embarrassed by how the situation was handled. The 1.5-hour time limit was not clearly verbally communicated when we were seated. Although we were a large party, we received only a 10-minute warning before being asked to leave. During the meal, there were lines at nearly every buffet station, and our broth did not boil properly despite multiple requests for assistance. On top of this, the space between large parties' tables was so tight that our party's chairs were touching the other party's chairs. This made it impossible to get up without one side vacating their spot so the other could leave. These delays significantly reduced the time available for us to eat. I understand that restaurants have time limits that need to be enforced, especially during busy times. However, there was no waiting party when we were asked to leave, so allowing us a reasonable amount of additional time would have been appropriate. Instead, one staff member appeared visibly angry and spoke to us in an extremely rude manner while kicking us out, which is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Moving forward, management should clearly explain the time limit before seating large parties, monitor buffet lines and equipment so service delays do not consume customers' allotted time, and provide staff with specific guidance on handling time-limit situations courteously. A restaurant can have whatever policies it chooses, but there is no excuse for treating customers with this level of disrespect. read more

After shopping at Zion supermarket tonight, I drove over to Da Da Shabu for dinner as I always see a line in front of the restaurant but have actually never dined here. Ayce selection was great. Food was amazing! I think it's one of the best Korean buffet/hot pot in Orange County. Everything was super fresh. From the meat cuts to all the seafood, vegetables, and pre-cooked bar. All prepared dishes were so good. Fried rice was chewy and tasty and not dry like most pre-made fried rice. You can tell the high quality of it. Glass noodles were delicious and the mixed stir fried veggies in it were fresh and not brown from sitting out all day. The spicy shrimp were excellent. The prime beef was super tender, it melted in my mouth. I couldn't even finish a plate of ribeye prime cut and also the sliced chicken breast. But if you have a good appetite like most people I saw in the restaurant, you would be in heaven at this place. Service was great. We just had a wonderful family dinner at dada shabu. The marinated crab was delicious! I do not think you can buy that anywhere in Orange county. The selection was abundendent with fresh seafoood, vegetables and noodles for the hot pot. There was also a fully cooked food on the side with fried chicken and rice. The best part was the shave ice station where you can make and add any ingredients like red bean, cherry, mochi and more with condensed milk for dessert. From the outside you wouldn't expect it to be so spacious but once you get inside you can see that it actually offers lots of tables and a buffet section offering lots of items. They have a sauce bar, raw seafood, various noodle options, veggies, cooked food and much more. You order meat from your waiter. They offer different types of beef as well as chicken and lamb. My favorite was the steak and prime beef. They do not skimp out here they load you up with freshly sliced beef. Service was amazing. For lunch they have 4 different protein options to choose from. My favorite meat option was the pork belly and top blade was also pretty decent. We didn't really care for the other meat options. Dada's broth is a simple broth with a sauce and condiment bar that you can add to flavor. They also have dipping sauces at the table for you to do whatever you desire. The self service bar had lots of hot and cold items. And they have unlimited drinks, including coffee and sodas. And they even have desserts such as shaved ice and sesame balls. It's affordable so not much to complain about. The service was good and they will always check on you. But they also have a bell if you want immediate service. We came in on a week day for lunch and it was busy but the wait was only 5 minutes for 2. It's great for smaller groups or large groups.
