We were actually going to a different hotpot place but they close at 3:30pm so we opted for this one and we're glad we did! They have a lunch special, $29/person, which is a good deal. They have a variety of cooked food, and meats too. But the lunch special you will get the usually meat but it's fine with us we still actually enjoyed it! They have takoyaki which is really good! They have dimsum, ice cream, drinks, tea which are all part of the lunch special. The staff are really nice too, they are very polite and they explained the menu really well since it's our first time. The waiter did not ask us if we had been there before or go over the menu. I'm glad we looked it over so we already knew what we would be ordering. My husband enjoyed the sweet heat. When they refill the broth, they don't tell you it's with a plain broth so it does dilute the flavor so keep that in mind. You get to pick a seafood platter or A5 ribeye with your meal. You can pick a stir fry if there's at least 2 people. My husband and I picked the stir fry with caramel black pepper. It was really good. I'm glad we picked it. You use a tablet to order your meats. You can place an order every 10 minutes. 4 item limit for 4 or less people. 6 item limit for over 4 people. There was a decent amount of hot foods. I tried the egg drop soup and it was good. The wings were really good as well. My husband enjoyed the fried rice as well. Friend was visiting out of town and we had a group of 8. Wanted to get AYCE hotpot. The nice thing about this place is that they have individual pots. I like this style better than a shared hot pot. Like many of the newer hot pot places popping up around here, you order everything on an iPad. There is a cooldown in between orders so make sure you put in a full order and not just willy nilly put in 1-2 things at a time. They were quick to bring out the meats when ordered. The quality of the meats here are stellar! I absolutely love that each plate of meat is labeled so you know exactly what you're eating and can order more accordingly. There is an area where you can grab a few things that aren't on the menu if you've ordered the AYCE. This is where you would grab some sides, veggies, sauce, desserts, apps, and som drinks and cutlery. The servers are very happy to help you here and always seem to have eyes on all the guests to make sure everyone is taken care of. Ended 2025 with some MooMoo Hot Pot! Located in a plaza, there is plenty of parking. When you get here, you can put your name down on the iPad via Yelp waitlist. Staff here are friendly, but not really the type to check on you unless you wave them down. Two types of menu - a weekday/lunch special for $36.99 or the premium for $58.99. The difference between the two is the amount of meat options and for the premium, you get double the options. They have a variety of options for your both - I got a newly added one, the tallow spicy sweet broth. There is also a limited item that each person can pick - it can be a chef's special (hot dish) with crispy lobster tail and scallops in a sauce or a raw lobster/scallop combo. We primarily ordered the wagyu brisket, beef tongue, wagyu short rib, and wagyu chuck roll because you can order up to 4 dishes at a time and since I'm paying the premium price, I'm going to opt for premium meats! They also have a sauce bar, hot bar, and veggie bar. The takoyaki was from the hot bar was delicious surprisingly. You can also get free milk tea, a yogurt drinks, and soda as you wish as part of your menu. The sauce bar had a good assortment of options but I was disappointed that they only give you a 3-dish tray for it because it can be challenging to mix it. They do have bowls, but at the time I went, they had run out because everyone probably grabbed it and it was primarily used for those who wanted rice. What a cute little spot! Really cute and festive decor and a decent sized space. Took advantage of their special on Too Good to Go! I got a freshly packed bento with rice, a beef bulgogi, a tofu and pork belly dish, a spicy beef item, a couple shrimp, a few takoyaki and a few sesame balls. This box was jam packed which makes it an incredible value. The food was pretty tasty. The spicy dish had a very mild heat but the flavor wasn't super pronounced, that I would pass on. MooMoo Hot Pot gets 3.25 stars. Just chill and I will explain. I didn't fall into the hype. Facts as the kids say. No cap. MooMoo is like the love child of Hot Pot Express and All that Shabu. I would not be surprised if they share similar owners or concepts. Actually, let's call it elevated ATS due to be similarities. First for the unbiased review. What does MooMoo do well. The variety of items, drinks, ambience, and marketing are amazing. I believe the average person will enjoy this restaurant for these reasons; however, if you are foodie, yelper, or Shabu fan boy stick with me for the full review. The variety is important if you plan to dine witha group or family. The food is good for lunch price, but not great. My complements the marketing team. A lot of thought went into the design and branding. Everything is photogenic and makes great content. I found the restaurant through a Google display ad, if they are wondering about attribution. However, branding is also a flaw. The chopsticks says "Premium Waygu Shabu" which makes me believe it's Japanese Shabu based on the headline. Which is wrong. This is Chinese Hot Pot and it doesn't explain that on the menu or website. There is a huge difference. I know the non Asian in the photos might not know. Shabu is a popular word these days like Boba. So make it easier for the consumer I get it. The real review 3 stars. I was expecting Japanese Shabu or at least Korean Shabu that's Japanese inspired. There are so many great options in Irvine so I hopefull that MooMoo will be on par. I had a short lunch break before a meeting and it's close to home. As a Chinese Hot Pot restaurant it's not bad for the lunch price $29. When I first got there shortly after opening on a weekday, the server explained the menu options to me since it was our first time. The huge variety of broths should have been a red flag but I can make this a Shabu experience with the right broths and sauces. The server almost seem disappointed I went for the least expensive option. I know Instagram and YouTube show off the top quality dishes. I am not interested in trying those until I try the basic menu first and I can always upgrade at another visit. Never start from the top and go down. Always go up up up like our voices and it gonna be Golden. I rate Shabu on meat quality and I eat with veggies plus rice or noodles. Hot food, dessert and drinks are just nice to have but are just fillers. What did I like best? Honestly, the drinks. I felt the meat quality was similar to All That Shabu. I am rating the basic lunch meat options. This does not include the Waygu meats. I know haters will be hating but I did not come for Waygu. I came for Japanese Shabu. The "Hot" food bar was surprisingly cold... Yes, the restaurant just opened and the dishes were as cold as your first date when you tell her it's going to be coffee. Even the white rice. The lunch menu has add ons for some broths. It felt like DLC for a video game. I felt like I was getting a based level Xbox Game Pass and missing out on the best options. Thank goodness I didn't wear a short skirt or apple bottom jeans and boots with the furs or else the whole restaurant would be looking right her... I am not a short King and I had to do a Half Moon or downward dog yoga pose to get bowls and plates. He hit the floor! Got low low low... Can someone please make space to put the dishes at counter level? I think it might be too low for Seniors and ADA. Maybe perfect for kids to wreak havoc. The help yourself soda was cool. The meat selection is fantastic. Not a lot of places that have meat of this variety and quality. They have a wide variety of broth flavors. I got the thai basil beef rib which was complex and deep in flavor. The beef rib in it is a great visual and seemed to add some additional flavor. We did the seafood combo and got the golden treasure and black pepper. The golden treasure is similar to that salt and pepper flavor you get at some Chinese dim sum places. The black pepper was very good too. Neither are amazing but still very good. We were pretty strictly sticking with the beef. The wagyu was of course the star but even the other meats, like the chuck roll or the short rib were very good. What sets this place apart is their hot/cold bar. So many sauce options. Lots of sides, veggies, cold drink options. It was really impressive. Also, side note, they serve hot tea in a cup with a mesh bottom where the tea leaves are. They just add hot water and boom. 4.5/5 stars Came here for dinner on a Friday night, and there was no wait. The ambiance and presentation of the dishes felt very upscale. We got the premium AYCE ($58.99 per person), which includes unique broths, a choice of deluxe seafood or Japanese A5 wagyu, and premium meats/seafood. For my broth, I got the golden pumpkin (has fish maw and chicken pieces). The broth didn't taste too much like pumpkin but had a stronger chicken flavor. I didn't like the fish maw, but the chicken was super tender and sweet. We tried both the deluxe seafood (oceans bounty platter) and Japanese A5 Wagyu. My faves from the deluxe seafood were the lobster, shrimp, and scallops. These tasted fresh and were mostly tender. It is challenging to cook the seafood, so it would have been helpful to have a guide for how long to cook each of the items. My second favorites were the abalone and the mussels. These also tasted fresh and were tender. My least favorite was the surf clam because it was chewy (may have overcooked it). The Japanese A5 wagyu wasn't as soft and melt-in-your-mouth as I expected, but it was still pretty good The other meats/seafood I tried were the lamb shoulder, wagyu brisket, beef tongue, wagyu short rib, wagyu chuck roll, moo moo shrimp paste, and fresh black fish fillet. All these items were pretty standard, except for the wagyu short rib, which was astounding! I would literally just eat that all day! It was so soft and flavorful! The shrimp paste wasn't anything special, so I would skip that next time. I didn't like the black fish fillet - the texture was too soft for me. The self-serve section was a little small, but had a good variety of vegetables (Bok Choy, Napa cabbage, kale, broccoli, etc), quail eggs, fish, baby scallops, etc. I enjoyed all of the items I got at the self serve station! First of all, for an AYCE shabu shabu spot, MooMoo Hot Pot is truly a great deal for the quality that you get! My favorite shabu shabu place in this area is Dad but I would say that MooMoo is the best AYCE Chinese-style hot pot around! I personally don't love wagyu hotpot even though I only really ever get beef so I got the standard menu and although the selection of cuts was small (just three) it was quality! I would rather places have higher quality and less variety than the other way around. Additionally, their sauce bar is insane so if there's a sauce you've always wanted to try, here's your chance! I was surpise there was no wait for a group of 6 on a Sun at 2:00 pm. Great food a lot of optuons even with lower tier. Broth selection was has a lot of variations. Everyone got differnt flavor. I'd say it was the best shabu spot in Irvine. All that Shabu is cheaper but this place has better quality meat overall. We went with the premium AYCE, it was definitely filling enough. I was surprised by the quality of the seafood tower that included lobster tails (actual spiny lobster), abalones, and fresh scallops. My friend ate one raw and so far she's fine lol. The set included drinks and ice cream. Service was nice and attentive. The place was generally very clean but we will see after another 6 months or so haha. Will definitely be back again. read more

MooMoo Hot Pot has been on my list to try for quite some time now and I was glad I finally got the chance to stop by! This spot is serving up one of the most premium AYCE hot pot experiences in the Irvine area. They are located in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a modern and spacious interior with a good amount of seating. Wifey and I stopped by for dinner around 6pm and were seated right away. For about $60 per person, they offer premium AYCE with some unlimited drinks and a self-serve bar area. For our broths, wifey got the sukiyaki and I got the tomato. Some of the items we tried were the Deluxe Seafood Combo, Beef Tongue, Wagyu Brisket, Wagyu Chuck Roll, and the Wagyu Short Rib. Overall, everything that we had was delicious and high quality! All of the staff here are also very helpful and welcoming. The star of the show for me was definitely the Wagyu Brisket so I would recommend not skipping on that! read more

For the price and quality with plenty of options to choose from moomoo quickly became my favorite chinese style hotpot. Came on a rainy day and was seated immediately! Service is quick when they are called for, but don't expect constant service unless you ask. I will be back when im craving some warm soup for the cold weather. read more

One of the best shabu places in OC. Cheaper than the usual places but you get way more options. Huge meat and broth selection, plus a self-serve bar for veggies, seafood, and hot food. A great value Wagyu all-you-can-eat hot pot! Everything was really delicious, and the selection was super abundant. My favorites were the Wagyu brisket and beef tongue. The abalone and oysters were also so good! There were plenty of side dishes, fruits, and drinks too -- they even had Beijing yogurt and Wanglaoji. I'll definitely be coming back. We revisited MooMoo the other night for dinner and we must say it was a bit disappointing. Let's start by saying the quality of the Waygu items on the premium menu was decent, as was the seafood combo plate. We did find it weird that they would serve us half of a lobster tail for two people? Previously, we received half a tail per person. The Hokkaido Milk Tea was tasty if you don't mind a heavy drink. The strawberry and matcha ice cream were also good, but you will notice chunks of frost in it. The strawberry ice cream is more of a strawberry preservative jam swirled with cream than a normal strawberry ice cream. Now let's get into why the reduction in rating, besides the lobster tail reduction mentioned earlier: it's the service. The initial service was decent; he sat us down, got our initial order for broths, proteins, and drinks pretty quickly. But after that, we had two more visits to our table the rest of the night by any staff member, one of those two were to ask us if we wanted to keep one of the broths on. We ended up getting more items from the bar due to the lack of attention. What tops it all? We were done with our meal and were waiting for any of the staff members to approach our section so we can get the check. Every staff member walked by us; we tried to get their attention on a few passes, but still weren't able to flag them down. I went to the front host desk to see if I can pay for it there and to my surprise, there was no one there either. After half an hour a bus boy was cleaning a table near us, and we politely asked him to get the attention of any of the staff so we can settle our bill. Our initial server finally came out and we settled our bill. MooMoo Hot Pot is a premium all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant in the NorthPark part of Irvine. They have an AYCE lunch price ($28.99), AYCE dinner price ($36.99), and an AYCE premium price ($58.99). Each person got their own personal soup broth and there were 10+ to choose from. We ordered the AYCE premium menu because we really wanted to try the deluxe seafood combo and the wagyu brisket tower which were both good. However after trying the different meats my favorite was definitely the chuck short rib. I also really liked the shrimp paste and eventually we just ended up ordering the same couple meats. We could only order four items at a time which I assume was because there were four of us. Along with the meat there was a common area in the middle of the restaurant that had hot and cold dishes, soups, veggies, and a sauce station. Out of the sides my favorites were the pork ribs, mapo tofu, and braised pork belly. On top of that there were also unlimited sodas, hot drinks, and ice cream. My only complaint is that the service could've been better because it was hard to flag down the servers to order our next round of meats. They also rarely came by to refill our broths with stock so they became really concentrated and salty near the end. Having a button would've been nice to alert them. The meat was really fatty and of high quality. Even if you get the lower tier menu you will still get good quality meat and a lot of complimentary add-ons that make for a makeshift buffet. read more

We went to Moomoo Hot Pot in Irvine on Saturday night around 8 PM. They don't close until 11 PM, so we expected a normal dining experience. Unfortunately, almost all of the ready-to-eat food was gone when we arrived (see photo). Most trays were nearly empty with only scraps left. While we were there, employees were scooping up the remaining food to pack for customers who ordered through the Too Good To Go app. I understand trying to reduce food waste, but it felt unfair since we had just been seated, paid full price, and hadn't gotten any food yet. I asked an employee if they would refill the trays, and she said, "I don't know. Maybe." No additional food was brought out for the rest of the time we were there. It was frustrating to pay for a full buffet experience three hours before closing and not receive it. I hope management improves how they handle late-night service and balances dine-in customers with app orders. read more
