Similar to my favorite location in Gilbert, this location seems to have a abundance dress suits, dress shirts, and slacks that rival the best buffalo exchange or savers Location by a mile. I found a few books here and was pretty happy about that. The bathrooms have a code but luckily for me, I found the nicest employee to open the bathroom for me. She was so sweet and kind and nice to talk to. I went with my daughter and we also looked at clothes. We both found a few pieces we liked and bought them after roaming more aisles. The book section is pretty big so they have a lot to choose from. It was also a pretty neat store. Not all goodwills are as neat as this one was. read more

Unfortunately Goodwill employees are being told to pull the color tags for the discount designated for that day and when reported to the manager was told it is not my concern. This explains why there are signs stating it is not right for customers to hide stuff in the store. read more

This particular goodwill has an interesting new idea. They pre-damage the clothing. I was browsing the racks today, and noticed a lot of the clothing had what I thought were initials written on the logo. Then I found some new with tags that had the initials written in it. Then I started to wonder what was going on and asked the cashier. She says its part of an anti-theft policy? They write with marker in the logo to help them reduce theft? So cool. I would never have thought to write all over the product so I could detour thieves! read more

Cashier service!!! Karla was unfair and so rude asking me to move my items out of the way as the next customer was checking out. Just her tone of voice and how demanding this action made me feel. The person in-front of me was my friend. I took my two items off counter and held them on my hand. When it was my turn to pay, the lady behind put her items on the counter, mind you she had a lot of items. When I was almost done checking out, I asked the Karla the cashier if she was going to ask the lady behind me to take her stuff off too. I've shopped at several Goodwills and this is another nice one. They did not have a cellphone battery I wanted though. However, I did buy a metal thermos for only $2.50 and a nice ceramic coffee cup for only .99 cents. So that's a bargain in my book. Yes...there's some homeless(mostly harmless and not necessarily drug fiends) people wandering in the lot but instead of whining about it try asking if you can buy one a cup of coffee or a blanket like I do(it's cold out there and homeless die in the cold every night...you could save an innocent life). Note: Blankets in Goodwill are less than $5. Put good Karma into the world and it comes back to you. Recommended store. read more

Apparently we have to unload with no help whatsoever. Poor lady next to me as I was unloading had huge things she struggled with... by herself. No longer an enjoyable experience, all the new policies are awful. No carts outside, have fun hauling all of your heavy purchases to your car. No dressing rooms, most stores have completely removed them. Terrible return policy, very strict and short return window. Employees yelling at customers, or just rude in general. They now charge for bags, the amount of reusable bags they are selling they could easily supply shoppers for free if they really cared about recycling. Buy bags or carry out your individual items. Prices are higher and higher. read more

As someone that needs a mobility knee scooter and is luckily able to afford a new one for $100 I am out raged. Its not a toy its a medical necessity my scooter was the only way I could get to the bathroom or eat for 8 weeks while my foot was healing. Charging $79 for used medical equipment is unethical, immoral, and does not convey goodwill. It is taking advantage of the injured and in disadvantaged. read more

I just dropped off some nice items at the Goodwill on E. Thunderbird and I drove away wishing I had not left them there. The back of the store where you drop off items looked like a garbage dump. No one came to help me even though the lady on the phone told me that if I went around back, someone would come out. Well two guys came out but no help and when I asked if there were any bins to put the items in, they said no, that's why this stuff is all over the ground. I had my doubts about whether or not the items will even make it into the store. St. Vincent's is nearby and from now on, that's where I will go. read more

Huge store with a large selection of clothing, household products, shoes and books. You can also drop of your unwanted items right in the front, large bins, they'll give you paper receipts for your generosity. I've been to many goodwill, and this one would be a more expensive one. Sure the selection of cds and DVD's are good, they cost 2.99-3.99 each. The used books section can also range from 2-3.99. I'm coming from Colorado, and comparing prices there, I was able to get .99 cds, and 1.99 books, but hey, this place also has 50 percent off Saturday's! That'll save you even more Highly recommend bringing your stuff here and donate before tossing them into the trash. One mans trash can be another's treasure. Come check it out! read more

Plenty of parking. I started visiting Goodwill just recently, and I found that I thoroughly enjoy browsing the aisles. It is almost therapeutic. I find it so interesting to see all the sorts of thing that people discard, a lot of them seem almost or brand new. All the stores seem to be fairly organized and they have very low prices, with some special discounts depending on the day. I stopped here once looking for replacement Luminarc cups, those very wide ones that almost look like a vase, lol. I did not find what I was looking for but I came across something else I had been thinking of buying: Those little cute cups for soft boiled eggs. I had been perusing them online but they were a tad expensive for my current budget, then I found them here at $0.69 a piece. The lady that helped me at the register was friendly and helpful, and she was very careful packing fragile items. read more

Honestly I don't particularly like this Goodwill in comparison to the Cactus and 32nd and Scottsdale and Thunderbird location. It doesn't seem to have the better quality stuff as well as there are a lot of people loitering outside who are usually homeless so it also doesn't seem all that safe read more

I called this location to ask if they took mattresses. They said yes. I arranged for a truck and everything. When I arrived, the guys in the back said they don't take mattresses, and then they told me they had nothing to do with the front of the store. Would it kill you to walk inside and tell someone this? In general I have stopped donating to Goodwill due the high prices they charge for products they receive for free that are dirty and torn. Occasionally I have gone to this particular location to find something cheap for a certain occasion. This store is gross and the selection is terrible. I believe people who really rely on Goodwill will find less and less of desirable items as Goodwill sells these online for a lot of money for things they are donated. This particular location is extremely undesirable. It is messy, dirty and the employees are not very friendly. I'm not embarrassed to say that I shop at Goodwill, but won't return to this location. I've been here twice, once with my granddaughter and once by myself. Ok, the location isn't in the hood and not in upscale Scottsdale but I would hope that it would be safe to shop there. Both times followed around the whole store by obvious homeless people, asking for money, even in the cashier line, all the way to my car with said people asking again and again "are you sure you can't give me some money?" I really dislike this place. I came here only once on sale day. It was packed full of people. Stuff was thrown all over the place. It was difficult to walk down isles. The furniture section was garbage. Seriously just full of broken things. I didn't look at any clothes because you could not walk down the idles without stepping all over clothes. The home section was better.. they dd have some cool stuff over there. I was able to purchase a few things that have been helpful and I did find a vintage juicer. I had been looking for 1 for a few months. I like movies.. I watch them often. Craft, sew, play with my son, and watch movies. The selections was pretty small here... no problem... but they had 2 Resident Evil movies! They happened to be the 2 I did not have yet. I'm cheap so I was super excited! The cases looked beautiful! Popped them open to make sure the movie wasn't too scratched up.... GONE! They were both gone! :( So sad. This won't be a store I will make it a point to go to read more

Wow...interesting that there is already a review about the store opening late, because they suuuuure are prompt with CLOSING on time! A friend asked me for a ride to this Goodwill (I call it the ghetto Goodwill), so I Googled it and found that they close at 9:00 pm. It was just after 8:30, so we drove on over and upon walking in, instead of a welcoming greeting, we were met with a girl saying "Hey, we close in 15 minutes". 1-we already knew that because we Googled it and there is a sign on the door 2-I understand giving people a warning that they don't have toooo much time to shop, but maybe they could start with "Welcome" or "Hello! How are you?...Ok great...well just so you know, we DO close in 15 minutes so ya better get shopping!" Anything friendly would be great. I feel like the greeting we got basically said "I hate being here, and want to get out as soon as possible, so I don't care if you have shopping to do, you aren't welcome here for longer than 15 minutes. Hurry up." Funny that the last guy complained about them opening late. Opening late and making people feel unwelcome early...great business model. I don't hit up Goodwill much myself, but my friend has some nostalgic fondness for it. This is the cleanest, most organized and friendliest Goodwill I have ever visited. Like other helpers, I hate to even give a good review because I don't want it to become inundated with those also looking for spectacular used goods. The book selection here is astounding. It is organized and has quite a few genres--everything from cooking to baby to astronomy and garden. The fiction section is vast! I even found a few books that were currently listed on the NYT Bestseller list, in perfect condition. The holiday selection here is also very fun to peruse. So much Christmas and Halloween goodness to find. I was pleasantly surprised. And, the staff was friendly. At a Goodwill!!! Imagine that-- I have found the opposite to be true at most Goodwill stores that I have frequented. Love this place. On June 15th I visited the Goodwill location at the 4147 W Thunderbird Rd, Phoenix, AZ. I was there to drop off two trash bags full of donation clothing. While I was there, my teenage son wanted to look around. I found an XBox360 for sale for $70 and a jacket for $10 that I decided to purchase. I was not familiar with their policies because I have not shopped there before but have rather just donated. So I asked the cashier about the XBOX and if it worked or not. She said she didn't know so I asked if I bought it and it didn't work if I could return it. She said that was no problem and I said, okay, well, I guess I have nothing to lose as long as I can bring it back if it doesn't work and return it for my money back --- I mean,come on, its an XBOX for $70, I figured it didn't work but thought, "what the heck, If I can bring it back, why not?". The cashier, Jamie made me feel like it was safe to try. I took it home and found that it did not work. I took it back within one hour of purchasing it. I was told by Ruth that they could only give me store credit. I told her that Jamie had told me that I could get my money back if it didn't work. Ruth told me that I should have been aware of their policy because it is posted in the store on a poster hanging above the entrance and on my receipt. However, I would not have seen this unless I looked up or had already purchased it in order to have the receipt. At that time, Jamie walked past me and I asked her why she had told me I could return it for my money back. She said that she thought I could. So I asked Ruth why, if an employee didn't know the policy, that I was expected to know it? I told Ruth that I would like to speak to a manager. She said that there wasn't one available and she would have them call me. I asked when that would be and she didn't know. I said, well should I just leave the purchases there and then decline the charges with my credit card. She said what ever I did was up to me and was very rude. I said that since she wasn't giving me any options I would just leave everything with her (including the jacket because I was going to try to get my money back from the credit card company). So I left everything with her because I told her I would be contacting my card company to dispute the charge. So I took a video of all the merchandise and Ruth taking it and making a note of it on the receipt (which she kept). One week later, Ruth called me to tell me she couldn't get her district manager to deal with the issue, nor to even call me. She told me she could not give me his name or his phone number. And that I would just need to deal with my credit card company with my issues. My credit card company denied the dispute because I had nothing in writing - my video was not suitable proof. Before writing this review I called and spoke with Ruth one last time to ask if I could please speak with the district manager because I planned to file a complaint with the BBB (WHICH BUYER BEWARE, THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS) if it could not be resolved. She said he was on vacation. And although she was unwilling to give her district manager's name or phone number. She did tell me that she was given another district manager as their contact person while her manager is on vacation, whom I also wasn't able to reach (surprise, surprise) . Here are the key issues that I feel warrant this review and my claim to the BBB. #1) The fact is that I have spent $80 in a store and have no product(s) or services to show for it. However, I do have a video showing me leaving everything with Ruth and vocalized everything happening in the video #2) The employee, Jamie TOLD me that I could return the XBOX if it didn't work for my money back and they should honor what they said. Especially since I have been a great donator to this location. It is very close to my house and I bring all of my children's outgrown clothes and toys as donations. The irony of it all is that I actually donated more that $80 worth of items on the day that this horrendous customer service experience occurred. #3) The policy to only give back store credit, while posted in an area of the store - was not well known, because even their own employee was not aware of it. Also, having it printed on the receipt is illogical because you don't get a receipt until the transaction is already done. I don't think that my first trip purchasing something in the store should make me more aware of this policy than a store employee knows. read more

I have gotten some really good deals here, but lately the prices have been going up. You're not making friends goodwill. anyone ever notice that all the goodwills have the same room deodorizer smell? Like they got a really good deal on crate after crate of the same deodorizer, I call it "eau de goodwill". I had to post this, I was just in this store recently and one of the employees (a really skinny short guy) was putting stuff on the shelves. He had his pants down almost to his knees, in order to keep them up he had to walk with his knees spread. He look absolutely ridiculous. How is this company sanctioned dress? Really I never saw anything more silly in my life. There is probably a good reason he works there. Also there was the guy at the checkout (a tall skinny kid) with a "look at me" beard, and a please pay attention to me giant ear piercings. Unlike previous posters, I've never had a bad experience at this store. Yes, some of the stuff should have gone to the dump, but I've also found some treasures too! Like a brand new Catalina bathsuit with tags still on (44.00) for 6.99; a back cushion for 4.99 and NEW sells for 59.00 on Ebay and a temporary old style TV for my hubby's man cave when he was sick for --are you ready for this- 75 cents !!! Works perfectly and will do the job till his birthday in January when I plan to buy him a HD new one. Seriously, don't nit pick unless you've really spent time here like I have. And I have never been there when it opened late or gotten rude comments from any of the employees, even the newer ones who don't know me by sight. There have been Erumors circulating about Goodwill for years, but I think it's a great place to get one man's trash deals and will continue to shop there! I frequent this store and the workers are always busting their asses to get product out n organized their actually is room to move around in this goodwill staff is pretty friendly a couple pretty faces at cash registers that are polite n not stuck on themselves ? Need to hire a co-manager at this store cuz the manager with brown hair n ponytail is always running back n forth helping her staff out n customers you never see her sitting around in my opinion you guys are overworking her ? Get her a helper " right-hand " or give her a fast Segway Nd they need to start putting out more stereo components for customers to buy at that store instead of listing them on their site, give the loyal customers a chance to buy the donated home audio n they need a person going around n checking the tags to make sure they are on items still is a pain to get a price check constantly? Like another Yelper, I almost don't want to share how much I love this Goodwill. It is near/in Paradise Valley. I bought a pair of UGG boots here for $1.00, yes $1.00 tag day! I drive 45 minutes to this location, it's that good. Avoid the half-off Saturdays, it's a mad house. If you go on half price Saturday, watch out for the crazy lady who, when not speaking to herself, runs people over with her cart and bike while yelling obscenities. read more

So I have not been to Goodwill in quite a while I have two by my house, but don't find myself going in very much to see much of anything. I just assumed it was mostly junk. But after visiting this location, that might change. So I was heading home with a co-worker on Thursday and she said today is dollar day, I am like what is dollar day? She explains on Thursday everything with a green tag is only a buck. Well I was like ok lets check it out...to say the least I didn't buy anything that was a dollar, but I found an LG Blueray player that works fantastic, and a drill that was exactly what I was looking for. To say the least I was colored surprised. I spent about $35, and it was worth every penny the blueray player alone was worth over $100. I am a fan, I will be back. i used to go to this Goodwill and find some nice things but that was before they started opening so many around the Valley. Be aware they divert merchandise to other stores and pick off nicer things to save up for newer stores to get people in. After a while, the normal inventory is the norm and it is basically used junk. I'm pretty sure anything of high value does not make it onto the floor. Don't believe those ads, most of this stuff is dirty and junky. Overall, not worth my time. Go to the Dillards Clearance centers and get something new. I think Goodwill rips off those with less money. Items are NOT CHEAP in here considering you are getting something that someone else basically was willing to throw away. read more

I used to like this store before they started over pricing their clothing items. More and more clothing are being coded as "Better Quality" and being priced at ridiculous high prices. It used to be that you could find a great brand at their normal price, but it appears someone there is monitoring ebay and charging the highest dollar amount they think we can bare. Good Grief Goodwill, you're supposed to be a non-profit, not a high end boutique. The fun of finding a treasure in your store is long gone. The jeans that are normal price are mostly junk (stink, badly frayed hems, worn butts, missing buttons, stained, etc. etc.). You price your fake designer jeans as though they are the real deal. Does no one know what they are doing there? I had an incident in which I went to the store and OMG!!! I found a pair of jeans that didn't have a code on them, but the price tag wasn't there either. I find lots of clothes without tags and don't think too much about it. I know jeans are $7.99, polo shirts are $4.99, and so on. When I went to check out, the cashier called the manager over (Tammy) to do "whatever". The manager then took the jeans, grinned, and did a slow run to the back of the store. I waited at the register for maybe 5-6 minutes wondering what the heck was going on and getting a little peeved for being made to wait. When she finally came back, she gave the jeans to the cashier and left quickly. She had a price tag put on them for $19.99 and placed a code inside the waistband in permanent marker, marking them as "Better Quality". At this point, I was angry. I told that cashier to get that manager back which she did. I told Tammy that code wasn't in those jeans before she took them away and that if they were put out on the floor without a code the first time, they shouldn't be able to just change their minds and jack the price up at their convenience. She admitted to me that they did just place a code in them and she became very wishy washy not liking the confrontation and anxious to get away, and I just decided to go and leave the jeans behind. My treasure became no more. Before I left, I told her I would be contacting the Regional Office about what she just did. I did contact them telling them what happened and was hoping for a "we will have a talk with her....or anything". What I got was a patronizing canned response. I did respond to that, but they never got back to me after that. Great job Regional Office. So all in all, I am not especially happy with this store and definitely not the manager. read more
