Got a new (for me) used car which only came with one key so decided to get a duplicate key fob. The dealer was charging between $400-500 and most had to order the key or had weird schedules. I looked into Key Me Locksmiths which was about $350 and said would take 1/2 hour. Dawned on me to look at Yelp and this place had really good reviews so decided to give them a try. While they had to order the key as well which they informed me would take 3-4 business days (I think it ended up being 4), they were able to program it in about 20 min and are nearby. For one hundred and forty five dollars ($145) plus tax I got an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement fob programmed to unlock, lock the doors and open/close the tailgate for my 2010 Honda Pilot and of course start the engine. The whole process took about fifteen minutes. I am very pleased and highly recommend Good Lock & Key. We misplaced one of our two fobs. I went to a locksmith in Pasadena and for $100 they could order a key blank to be able to start the engine but not unlock, lock the doors and open/close the tailgate (the three buttons). I told them I really like being able to unlock and lock the doors with the remote. I asked if they knew someone who could program the fob. They recommended Good Lock & Key. I called them and spoke to Mike who quoted $145 and I asked if they had the replacement fob in stock and if I could stop by in about ten minutes - he said that if I have at least one working fob the answer is yes. I showed up and someone took my working fob and walked into the back parking lot and tested to make sure it worked and then he got a box full of stuff and rummaged around and pulled out something and took it out of the plastic wrapper and threw the wrapper in the trash can near the front counter where I was standing. I took the wrapper out of the trash and it said HONDA genuine parts and the serial number 35118-SZA-A12, which I googled when I got home and it said "Key, Immobilizer & Transmitter (Driver 1) (Blank) - Honda (35118-SZA-A12)". It has been working great for several days now. I did some research and I understand that there are three parts to replacing the fob: buying the fob blank, laser cutting the key to go into the ignition switch and programming the fob with some hand held device that is connected to the car computer. I understand that the dealer would have charged me several times what I paid at Good Lock & Key. I am very impressed how easy and relatively cheap it was to get the fob replaced at Good Lock & Key. I hope this review is helpful to someone who might need a replacement fob for their car. read more

We recently purchased a house and needed all of the doors and mailbox rekeyed. I called Monday afternoon around 5pm and was able to set up an appointment the next day at 1pm, time of my choosing. I didn't catch the guy's name. He was extremely efficient and basically got the job done without anyone really noticing he was there lol. Before completing the job, he made sure to have us check the minor fixes he performed on two of the locks were satisfactory. All of the locks were put on the same key which is amazing for us. The prices were pretty reasonable ($15 per rekey/cylinder, $30 for mailbox). and we were also able to choose how many copies of keys, what kind of key we wanted. Only small issue was I think we were overcharged? I'm not sure if the mailbox counts as a cylinder since the entire lock had to be replaced, hence the $30. The invoice listed $75 for cylinders, 5 doors, when we only had 4 to rekey. Maybe a simple mistake and I didn't catch it. I wouldn't hesitate to call these guys again for future lock jobs. read more
