A couple weeks ago I came in and had 2 Mannys beers. The total was $13 and I left a $2 tip. They charged me $25 after checking my bank statement, so I called and left a message. After receiving no call back I called again and spoke with an employee who took my information and said the GM would give me a call back... I waited a few days, and sure enough, no call back. Called again and spoke with a different employee who said the same thing and took my information. Once again, no call back. This place is a joke. Do not go here because they will over charge you and refuse to handle it. I will be calling my bank to handle this situation as it is totally unacceptable. read more

We had a great happy hour here after a game. The location is really easy for a gathering if you are heading back downtown from the Clink or Safe. We were a group of 16 and they accommodated us with a big pulled together table up on the second level. The space is really cool because we felt exclusive and were not bothering others up there, but we were looking down on the bar so did not feel like we were hidden away. The service was great. We had some nice scratch cocktails and beer and wine, and the server and bartender were quick and accurate. We had a mess of food for the table, and all the shared plates were great. Fair pricing. Stumbled in here and fell in love. Wonderful ambiance complete with antique molding, slightly vaulted ceilings and old bank safe doors. Friendly service. An amazing happy hour - $4 rotating beer, other specials all from 3pm-7pm. We tried the $7 cheese plate with pear and it was so surprisingly fresh & delicious! Would return again. Went on a Wednesday night around 9pm. Place wasn't packed, could speak at a good volume, so the perfect vibe to catch up with friends. Service was great and speedy. I had the milk money drink which TASTED AMAZING. I don't even like absinthe but it was nicely masked by the creamy matcha flavor. Also had the charcuterie and cheese combo, pictured is 1 ounce of each, $8 total. Also got the mussel dip which was nice and creamy. Was a bit weird to have the chips directly in the bag though. Took one star off for the small quantity for the price but overall, would def go back and would recommend for a more intimate time. Plenty of seating for groups tho! read more

Great Bar! Heh heh. Came in for Happy Hour with a friend right when they opened. There were already a couple of people there, but everything else was wide open. By the time we left about an hour later it was starting to fill up. Pretty spot, you know, the usual cool, modern, a little mid-centry style decor popping up around these parts. Anyway...we both got Moonwalks, two each, and they were delicioussss. I ordered the salt-roasted fingerlings with potato-salad aioli. Good, good, real good. I loved the aioli and the fingerlings were roasted perfectly. I prefer skinny fries, but these were good. My friend got something like goat cheese with I believe an olive tapenade with bread. It's no longer on the current menu, I don't think anyway, but I wanna say this is what was in it. Whatever it was, was really good. The flavors were bold. I had a few tastes and even threw some of it on my fingerlings. Staff were really friendly, efficient and helpful. Prices were reasonable for HH. Good Bar really is a good bar and this is why: Hospitality. An employee happened to see me approach their front door and he immediately opened it for me and welcomed me into the restaurant. I felt like was a guest walking into a 5 star hotel. Accommodations. I was surprised I was allowed to place a to-go order. I had an experience where a chef refused to make a to-go order for me. Atmosphere. When I was seated at the bar I noticed it was a busy place and customers around me were happy to be there. I liked being in a nice warm building when it was in the low 30's outside. Food. I had the Salt-roasted fingerlings & potato salad aioli and Sloppy Joe for dinner. It was flavorful and filling. I chose the Sloppy Joe because it reminded me of the SNL sketch "Lunch Lady" with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. I'm also a fan of potato salad. Location. It's only one block from the 3rd and Main Metro bus stop. It's also close to the International District/Chinatown Station and the Sounder Train Station. Acceptance. I felt comfortable being there. I really love Good Bar. The cocktails are nice, the food is good, but they really can't handle large amounts of people, which happens OFTEN in the neighborhood they are in. If you are in Pioneer Square on any night where there are people, be prepared to wait FOREVER for drinks and food. They also make you wait in line instead of having a server. I would not recommend this space, which makes me really sad. read more

This place is a stunner. Beautiful space, first of all. Clean and modern, with lots of ornate touches -- from the crown molding to the balustrade to the columns -- to give it splendor and a ton of character. It seemed a bit slow for a Friday night when I came. The bar was full, but there were a few vacant tables on the main level. The upstairs was completely empty. It had a very casual and relaxed feel, and I really dug the downtempo trip hop mix they had going in the background. The menu is not extensive but very thoughtful. I had three other people with me, and we sampled a few different dishes. We were blown away by almost everything we tried. They have a pretty good selection of cheeses and charcuterie, $3 per ounce. We kicked it off with an ounce each of salame toscano, bresaola, mole salame, gouda, St. Nectaire, and Rocchetta. While everything was delicious, the wonderful combination of savory, sweet, and spicy in the mole salame easily caused me to develop a mini-addiction. Later on, we asked for a sardine, a sloppy joe, baked oysters, a couple of orders of braised beef with carrot spaetzle, fingerling potatoes, and a sunchoke and kohlrabi soup. Everything was a hit and all superbly prepared, but my personal favorite was the baked oysters! These babies got me all hot and bothered: crispy ham, chives, leek, bread crumbs. They come with a side of vinegary hot sauce, which I fully utilized. Lawdy lawd, the flavors just burst in your mouth all at once -- creamy, briny, tart, that intense millisecond where the hot sauce hits your mouth in all the right places -- and then you get that nice crunch from the crispy ham and bread crumbs. These oysters on their own are a good enough reason to come back! I think my least favorite was the sloppy joe. It was good, and the meat was so tender, but a bit too sweet for me. If it were a tad more savory, I would've liked it much better. Cocktails were on point as well. Whiskey drinkers, you'll be excited about the Whiskey Smash. Service was impeccable. Every staff member we encountered was personable, professional, attentive, and prompt. I live a block away, so this place is super-accessible to me. Even if I didn't live this close, though, I'd still be planning many returns. read more

Well, well, well... isn't Good Bar a wonderful find! We stopped here for some weeknight cocktails with a friend and for once, I didn't check Yelp ahead of time. Otherwise I would have known that this place was right up my alley. Last year I discovered JarrBar and loved it. Good Bar reminds me a little of a much larger version of JarrBar. That's a good thing! I loved the chill vibe on a weeknight. The menu of charcuterie picks was amazing and I loved that you could build your own with the cheeses and meats your prefer. We ended up ordering all the selections and everything was so good. The meat selections I was sure I wasn't going to like blew me away with how great they were. They could give you a little more bread with the board, but I'm sure we could have asked for some more. The drink menu is so thoughtful and creative. Furthermore, the bartenders care so much about the ingredients, while also placing the same importance on the tastes/preferences of the customer. They made the perfect old-fashioned for my friend based on his specific tastes. I stuck with their sparkling wine menu, but I was so happy to see three unique, delicious, and thoughtful selections by the glass. The prices aren't cheap, but I'd definitely come back on a weeknight for a splurgy evening of snacks and drinks. read more

Good Bar is pretty damn good. Some friends and I popped in for drinks/dinner the other night, and it was a good time. The bar is sleek and the service was fantastic. Drinks: I had Joe's drink, which was right up my alley, with bourbon, amaro, and bitters. I also tasted Japanese Commercial Bank, and it just wasn't my jam. Food: Almost all of us got the sloppy joe, because, hello, it's a sloppy joe! Good Bar's version was elevated with Painted Hills beef, stout, and a Macrina ciabatta. It was so tasty, I mopped up every last bit from my plate. We also got the mussels, but those were less memorable. Good Bar's a fine place to kill a few hours if you're in the area. When I ordered the Sloppy Joe at Good Bar, I pictured the standard, open-faced hamburger buns slathered in meat sauce. What I got was exponentially better! If a Sloppy Joe is basically spaghetti sauce ladled over a couple of hamburger buns, then the Sloppy Joe here is Bolognese sauce draped over a light, airy Italian roll. The meat sauce was so good that I could have eaten without the roll. It was meaty and rich. The roll was just the perfect texture and the addition of fresh mozzarella was a nice touch. I tried eating the sandwich with my hands and I could have made a go of it, but it would have been far too messy towards the end - it is called Sloppy Joe, after all! I love this sandwich!! I kept thinking about it in the days after I had first tried it. That's really saying something from somebody that eats as many sandwiches as I do. Also had the Fingerling Potatoes with Potato Salad Aioli which was basically a deconstructed potato salad. The potatoes were beautifully done, slightly crispy on the outside, tender and delicious on the inside. To round out our sample of the menu we had the Milk-Braised Pork. It was terrific; fork-tender, rich and mellow. A great dish! Haven't tried any cocktails as I stuck with beer, but I promise to next time. A really good start for Good Bar! read more

Looking at cocktail menu's can be overwhelming for me at times as I don't know half of what most of the ingredients are. The bartenders were super friendly when I asked if they could just make me a brown derby. It is nice how they have little pieces of paper with the bathroom code written on it (don't forget to grab one before you go through the door!) so you don't forget it by the time you walk down the hall where the restroom is located. The drinks were good but also very expensive. But the service was god awful. The place was not busy and drinks we ordered took forever, when they came at all. Our server forgot drinks, mixed up orders, tried to clear drinks that were only half drank from our table, and our bill was a mess. We somehow got charged for four beers when we only ordered one. If you haven't been try to come during non-peak times and sit at the bar. Back in the day it was a bank so the esthetics are great. They did a great job at converting it to a bar. I've been once around 8pm on a Saturday. I really enjoyed the place. It was fairly empty when our group of 4 arrived. We were seated promptly. All of our drinks were delicious. We ordered a few apps and cheeses that we liked as well. The ambience of the place is nice. It's quiet and not too crowded too. Pretty good service. I am deducting a star because I wish there was a little more variety on the food menu and there were a few times we had to wait a bit to order more drinks. The atmosphere is nice, and has low lighting to balance out the mood with their candle lights. It's a pretty generous spaced bar with some tables, area at the bar to sit at and by the window. The owner (or manager) is a very sweet woman who greats each guest as if we were entering her home. The drinks are reasonable and during the holidays hey have some festive ones as well. At night thy give you a standard drink menu ontop of their specials which I highly recommend. My buddies and I bought a couple rounds of whiskey shots and I believe it was around 15$ for 2 shots (assuming liquor tax). I guess the sloppy joes are the thing to get here, but we got the mussels instead and they were delicious. The ginger carrot sauce adds that extra something. I tried a few of their beers on draught and their Irish coffee. I'm not usually a whiskey drinker, but the Elm coffee made it a smooth concoction. My designated driver just had a french press Elm coffee which was also smooth. This place has a chill intimate vibe in the heart of Pioneer Square.
