A great place to go after a hearty meal for drink dessert. This place has changed quite a bit since it first opened. The quality of the teas and drinks have improved significantly. Gongcha is not my first choice for boba but is a decent option nonetheless. They come up with seasonal items that are fun to try, and their drinks are good. I do think they are a bit pricey for boba. The only thing about this location in particular is that their boba texture is not always consistent. Gong Cha in Carrollton is a small shop, located across the street from HMart in a small area. Lots of parking, and there's usually a crowd. One of my favorite aspects of Gong Cha is their wide variety menu, which caters to both milk tea and fruit tea lovers alike. Their teas are bold and flavorful-- you can actually taste the tea in their drinks. You can even adjust the sweetness and ice level to your liking. They cook their boba perfectly chewy as well. There are definitely a lot of boba places in this area, but this place is a diamond in the rough. What I like is the ambience here! There seems to be an outlet for every table, so there's no worrying that you won't have somewhere to charge your devices when you need to study or get some work done. We were studying by the front face of the store, where sun can come and glare inside. Luckily, they have these really dark shades they pull down to help prevent the sun from glaring into a lot of people's faces and screens. I was here on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy or too loud. There would be a few people come in, grab their drinks, and head out. Not too many people stay for very long, making it a great place to stick around and study without having too many distractions. This might change around the dinner/after dinner time, but I wasn't around that long to experience how the noise changes. As for working and studying, the WiFi password is on the receipt, so if you're too awkward to ask, ordering something is enough to get access! The boba is alright; nothing to write home about. Compared to some other places, it is a little pricier for a smaller drink, but it's still delicious and a good treat to accompany a study or work session. I'll definitely make an appearance back here in the future when I need a good quiet boba place to study with minimal distractions! read more

This is where they filmed "Gong In 60 Seconds" and, slightly more recently, "Gong With The Wind." This GC has some pretty nice employees although they we're not quite as ridiculously out-of-the-way friendly as the ones up in Plano. However I have to give the massive credit because not only did they make me a really good brown sugar milk tea but they allowed me to stay 15 minutes past closing while they were cleaning up. I didn't even ask - they just let it happen. Although the place in Plano would do that as well, it is very out of character for Gong Cha, and in general for a bubble tea shop or any shop really. So between the excellent product and this great element of the service as well as the comfortable seats I would give it 5 stars easily. My main complaint is that Wi-Fi would not work for my computer although it worked on my phone. I'm not sure why it didn't work on my computer because Wi-Fi usually does. I've never heard that this place is overrated as one of the reviews mentioned, but quite the opposite - I never hear people talk about this place. I find that it's a more authentic alternative to Fat Straws and Kung Fu Tea, which are always too crowded and have more Americanized offerings. My favorite thing to get here is the green tea milk tea which is actually simple green tea with milk rather than the matcha option they also have on their menu. The bubbles are always chewy and they even have a white pearl option, which is supposed to be sweeter than the original black ones. They'll be more than happy to let you try a sample of it too! If you're looking for a fruity option, I also really love the lychee tea as well. This location can seem a little cramped though, but they play excellent pop/edm music if you're into that kind of thing. I fell in love with Gong Cha while I was in Korea, but in the States, not so much. DRINK// I've tried multiple drinks to give multiple chances like Foam drinks, drinks from strawberry series, Brown Sugar drinks, etc. First, the drinks taste lukewarm to me even though I get iced. So, I don't feel great after drinking them. The pearl, therefore, lacks chewiness most times and rather never consistent. I also think the tea overpowers too much in the drink, but I know that's what Gong Cha known for sort of. Either way, the tea is too warm and does not taste super fresh. Next to the H mart shopping center, this gem serves a range of drinks from tea, milk tea, and slushes. For the grand opening weekend they have a bogo, although from a set list of four drinks. I Ordered the Earl grey milk tea with 50% sugar level and light ice. It was good but the tea wasn't as strong as I like. My to go place for boba . My favorite is the green tea with sea foam and white pearl. I like that you are able to customize the sweetness of your drink and the ice level. I give it a 4 stars because of its inconsistency . I usually order 100% sugar but sometime it taste good and then sometime it doesn't even taste sweet at all . I think the boba here is on-par with some of the other boba chains I've been to in this area. Definitely better than Kung Fu Tea, Zero Degrees, and 85 Degrees, though - I find their teas to be too powdery. They're generous with their tapioca pearls, which I certainly appreciate. And I like that you can customize the sugar and ice level - they even specifically ask you how you like it instead of just assuming 100%. I got the green milk tea, and my friend got matcha slushy. Both were great! The staff here is friendly, and service is quick. This place has some cards and Jenga, so you can hang out here for a bit if you'd like. So Innovative! It defintely has an air of being delicious and refreshing. Was feeling adventurous and tried their Sparkling Lychee drink with Boba/Bubbles. YUM! Get this if you love Lychee flavor but want that soda feeling. Would get again! I wouldn't get any of their super fruity flavors, no smoothies - just fruit juice in tea form so kind of not worth it in my opinion. I went with a pretty large group who hadn't been here before so we had a lot of questions. I want to start off by saying the service is very good, they prepared my drink quickly too!! This is my first time going to Gong Cha and I ordered a Matcha Milk Slush with Milk Foam and Boba. The boba texture is perfect but it doesn't taste like anything AT ALL :( Maybe they forgot to add the sugar or something i'm not sure but there's no way it's this tasteless all the time. The matcha was alright, it's caffeine free so that's a plus but i would definitely recommend to not adjust the sweetness, it already has VERY subtle flavor.
