Gong Cha is one of the major international bubble tea franchises, with over 2,000 locations worldwide. This particular spot sits in a prime location serving the busy student populations around Berklee and Northeastern University. The drinks here are solidly in the average category, they taste good but often land on the overly sweet side for the standard preparation. A helpful tip for next time is that Gong Cha typically allows you to customize the sugar level, along with ice and toppings, so you can tailor it to your preference. While the service can slow down during peak hours due to the crowds, it's a reliable if unexceptional, option for a boba fix in the area. read more

Solid spot for boba, right by my university which is great for after classes. I still prefer the Chinatown location, but this being so close is convenient. read more

Let me start off by saying I love gong cha. Near my parents home, there is an awesome gong cha chain that makes the best boba in town. So when I went to this location, I expected the same gong cha. It was very far from the best. I asked for my drink to be 50% from a server who looked extremely unhappy to be there. It came back insanely sweet, and it looked to have been a premade drink as it was just pulled out from somewhere. I didn't see anyone actually make a drink. It's a nice area to sit and hang out with friends. Maybe it was an off day but I won't be back to this location. read more

Gong Cha is my favorite bubble tea place, and I was really happy to find this gem tucked away in the Northeastern area! Unfortunately, unlike it's Newbury St location, this location does not offer student discounts. However, the tea selection is amazing as always. My one (minor) gripe is that I prefer the 30% sugar distribution in my green tea, and this location is not as consistent with it as the Newbury St is. However, it is still super good! I would highly recommend the strawberry green tea, it is my favorite one. read more

Come here if you want normal boba and nothing crazy. This place always does the trick. Their classic boba is the best. They made my drink quickly but boba prices have spiked. My drink costed $6.42 and I literally get a whole meal at McDonald's with that. It is kind of noisy and loud in here so bring your earphones if you want to work. Otherwise it is a great cheap hang out. read more

Gong Cha - Large Green Milk Tea Boba - Bubble Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I was in town for a conference and wanted to grab a bubble tea before hitting the road. There were 3 options on the same block. I went to each with this location being the last. After inspecting the reviews and the menu at each location, I chose Gong Cha (mainly because of the menu). I was very happy with my choice. The bubble tea here is definitely high quality. I got an iced black milk tea with pearls, with light ice and 30% sugar. They did not skimp on the pearls, which is what made the drink really enjoyable for me. The pearls were fresh, perfectly cooked and sweetened. The location in NJ puts a bit more sugar at 30% than this location so when I am in town, I will most likely increase my sugar percentage so I don't rely on the pearls for sweetness. But either way, because they included a large amount of pearls, I enjoyed every sip and chew. read more

Gong Cha - Left is Creme brulee brown sugar milk tea; right is black milk tea: both with pearls - Bubble Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

New, clean, and very efficient at making drinks -- took 2 minutes max! The large size is actually quite large - perfect for sharing with one other after dinner. You still have to be willing to shell out $5-6 for a drink, but that is consistent across the board with boba nowadays. Pretty standard flavors - I'd say the most interesting things they have that I don't see elsewhere are the lemon aiyu and earl grey milk tea. Minimal seating - about 3 tables. Lots of traffic given proximity to Northeastern and generally a busy area! read more

Gong Cha - Strawberry Milk Tea with mango pearls and lychee Passionfruit Green Tea and mango pearls - Bubble Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Gong cha is one of my top boba places here in the States, and I'm looking forward to seeing this location running at full throttle (currently just a pre-opening, so expect some kinks as they figure things out). read more

Star jelly Is so good in strawberry milk tea it's also quick but the vibe is nice too

Tried two new drinks today, and the service was considerably better, even though it's New Year's Day. I ordered a Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3 J's (no Grass Jelly) and a Caramel Milk Tea with Pearls. I absolutely loved the flavor of the Earl Grey Milk Tea, and I think 50% sugar is perfect, especially if you get more than one topping. Pudding is also one of my favorite toppings to go with milk tea--it's silky smooth and has a very subtle custard sweetness! The Caramel Milk Tea tasted quite artificial (and very buttery), which didn't appeal to me, but my friend enjoyed the flavor. In both drinks, the pearls felt a little harder than usual, but it wasn't really bothersome. I also noticed that whatever "Ice Level" you choose, the drinks seem to be the same (slightly colder than room temp) temperature. Again, all the tables were very clean and the playlist was at the perfect background volume. By the way, if you live in/around Boston and frequent Gong Cha, it's definitely worth it to sign up for the Fivestars Reward app! they sometimes send you little discounts (like 1$ off a drink), and you receive a point for every dollar spent (at any Boston-area Gong Cha location) and $5 off when you reach 50 points. read more

Gong Cha - Left: Large Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3 J's (minus Grass Jelly); Right: Large Caramel Milk Tea (with Pearls) - Bubble Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I usually love Gong Cha, but this location was really disappointing. I ordered my usual: green tea milk foam with pudding, 50% sugar regular ice. My drink tasted like it had 200% sugar. It also didn't taste like tea, nor could I taste the hint of milk that I usually like from the milk foam. It just tasted like sugary water. I'll stick to KFT as my near-campus boba choice until Gong Cha starts serving actual green tea. read more

This store opened recently so I decided to give it a try. The tea was great as expected, but the service was really disappointing and the place seemed disorganized. I ordered a milk tea with two toppings and was charged accordingly. They first got my order wrong (after I repeated to the staff multiple times just in case they misunderstand), casually corrected it on the cup after I found out, and then only added one of the two toppings that was on my order. I already left the store when I realized they messed it up and I didn't want to walk all the back. But still I was very disappointed. Probably will not go again. read more

THIS IS THE WORST GONG CHA I'VE EVER BEEN TO!! Not only do the horrible employees have a nasty attitude, but they have no heart. My drink had expired-tasting milk and they were not willing to replace it. They called me overdramatic and said that they don't give replacements (despite my white friend getting a replacement prior). Absolutely disgusting behavior, DON'T GO HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BLACK! The girl with the black and blonde hair is the worst of them, she needs to get fired ASAP! read more

Most accessible and best-tasting bubble tea in the NEU area. Good chill vibe and quick service.

My go-to milk tea place near the Northeastern campus, their drinks are consistently good and their customer service is great!

This is the best place for boba around Northeastern campus!! Service is always fast and friendly. Jenny and Hyunjoon are the best!!

Mediocre boba tea - however was disappointed with the incredible rude behavior by the folks who work there. Not worth the attitude

Best Gongcha location in town with perfect drinks Great atmosphere, music, seating areas and amazing services. read more

Ordered two drinks -- one Large and one Medium. Got two Mediums. One of them was an iced drink but had no ice in it. (Yum lukewarm?) The store was completely empty with just one person behind the counter. We told her what was wrong with our order and she looked at us with the universal "Huh??" face. Did nothing and then turned to help someone who just walked in the door. I love the Gong Cha in Allston and will go back to them. Just won't be buying anything from Gong Cha Huntington Ave even though I live in the neighborhood. Will also let friends and neighbors know the service here isn't nasty, it just doesn't exist at all. Very sorry -- just wanted to enjoy my drink on a hot day. read more

Very good. I got the regular pearl milk tea, and it was great. My family got the warm Carmel tea and they said it was really good as well. The only thing was that the service did take quite a while. There were a lot of customers, but the ran out of ingredients, further elongating it. If you are fine with a wait or aren't at rush hour, go for it. read more
