I have heard Lucchese boots are a bit "bougie" so I never considered them. But when I saw an ad…read morefor a pair of the Ostrich boots, I decided to check them out. I didn't even know there was a store here in Austin. But I also didn't know how old of a boot store Lucchese is; and actually much older than some of the other traditional boot brands. So any company that has making quality products for over a century, well, it has to be quality! It's a small store and I even walked past the entrance as it's a bit unpretentious from the outside, especially when compared to some other nearby boot stores. When you walk in, right away you can see the quality. The colors, the richness of the leather... it all just screams craftsmanship. If you are looking for "work" boots, this is not really the place to come. But instead of rows and rows of boots of varying quality, here you have a nice showcase of nothing but the best possible boots you can ever own. Unlike some stores, they don't pounce on you when you come in the door. They are good at just standing back and letting you look around and when you are ready, there are plenty of sales representatives around to help. I pretty much knew what I wanted and the salesperson, Gabe, showed me a few examples of the Ostrich skin boot I was looking for. It was nice there were a few different styles and colors to choose from. Gabe brought me a few pairs to try on in my size and when you first put them on, it's like putting on a pair of boots you have had for several years. The fit was incredible. Not too tight or too snug but not loose. I walked around with the one boot and was convinced this was the right size. When I put on the other boot, I knew there was no way I was going to leave that store without them. The color was a light brown/tannish color which is nice enough to wear for something more professional, but light enough of a color to just wear with a pair of jeans to anything. Gabe was extremely helpful. No pressure and just made the whole experience perfect. Yes, they are on the high end pricewise, but on the other hand, you are going to have these the rest of your life so think of it that way. And boots like this are never going to go out of style. Great experience and there is no question I am going to be back for another pair once I figure out which type of boot I want next.

Mo has honestly been one of the biggest reasons I've kept coming back. He understands the challenges that come with being tall and needing larger sizes, and he always makes the experience comfortable and easy. He's knowledgeable, straightforward, and genuinely cares about helping people find shoes that both fit well and look good. Lisa and the rest of the team are always great too, but Mo's consistency and customer service really stand out. The only place to measure your feet was some dumb AI assistant machine. Not only did it take forever as there was a line, but also screw AI. I had to ask the single attendant to find the manual measure since there was nowhere else in the entire store to measure, and she was unable to assist me afterwards since she was indisposed. This store also doesn't carry anything smaller than a women's 6, so smaller feet beware. I'm sorry but kids sizes are just not acceptable for proper foot care as an adult. Really frustrating experience.

However, after this recent experience, I'll never shop with them again--at least not directly. If individuals on second-hand resale sites are selling, absolutely, to be part of a more sustainable clothing practice, but AE has lost my service until it undergoes a major personality shift. I placed an online order using a birthday promo code and opted for store pickup at the Barton Creek Mall location. The order was supposed to be ready by August 6th. That date came and went with no notification or update. I drove to the store--wasting my time and braving heavy crowds--only to be met with apathetic and unhelpful staff. The associate told me the items had shipped but couldn't provide a tracking number or any real support. She offered to cancel the order and help me shop in-store, but that defeated the whole point of ordering online for convenience. After multiple failed attempts to get help from outsourced customer service, I finally canceled the order and placed a new one to be delivered to my apartment. To my shock, American Eagle used DoorDash to deliver the package--without any prior notice. How they couldn't use the normal shipping carriers like UPS, FedEx, or USPS is beyond me. I had to rearrange my entire Saturday to wait at home for a courier, which was incredibly inconvenient and unprofessional for a major retail brand. This entire process--from poor communication to lackluster customer support and an unreliable delivery method--was unacceptable. It's clear AE no longer values its customers or their time. I'll only buy AE items secondhand moving forward. They've lost my business.
