Im always amazed at how many shoe options there are. I'm a pretty basic shoe person so I like to rebuy the same shoe until it goes out of production. So most of the time I'll come in specifically to grab a new pair and browse the clearance racks. Tons of options, one time I even bought a men's pair of hiking shoes cause they didn't have my size in the women's. Ha! Store was clean, employee was nice (though I only saw one in the entire store and she was the register, meaning no real assistance is available if anyone is checking out). The only place to measure your feet was some dumb AI assistant machine. Not only did it take forever as there was a line, but also screw AI. I am confident that machine was why there were no other employees, and I def needed help with finding things so I just couldn't. I had to ask the single attendant to find the manual measure since there was nowhere else in the entire store to measure, and she was unable to assist me afterwards since she was indisposed. This store also doesn't carry anything smaller than a women's 6, so smaller feet beware. I'm sorry but kids sizes are just not acceptable for proper foot care as an adult. On 2/14/2026 at 8:31pm I went inside the DSW sunset valley in Austin Texas to purchase a couple of pairs of Steve Madden sandals I'd seen were in stock. While there I browsed the clearance and saw an 11 wide in these kitten heels which that size alone is tough to find in store. I purchased them, went home and they sat on my dresser for weeks as within the two days my dog of 10 years had passed on the 28th of Feb, and then my mother in law passed away on 3/3/2026. As I started feeling better I headed to DSW on March 13th, I went to return these shoes due to opening the box and seeing they were clearly used on the bottom of the feet. When I arrived at the store I realized I forgot the box at home (I had multiple items to return and had boxes but not these). I return to the location on 3/15 where I let them know the issue and wanted to be sure to point it out to the associate. I BROUGHT IT UP. The leader on duty Shante lets me know there is absolutely no way these items were sold like that. I let her know that there is absolutely a way because I haven't worn them and if I was trying to get away with return I would have CLEANED THEM AND ZIPPED MY LIPS. I wouldn't even have mentioned it to an associate if I knew they wouldn't return them but I didn't want this to happen to someone else and they get put back on the shelf. So much time passed due to me going through me in my personal life and the associate stated if less time had passed she would've been more inclined to do the return. I didn't expect so much to happen to me shortly after or I would have been back. The associate who initially rung me up seemed annoyed I was there right at closing but it is difficult to get there when I too work at a retail location in another store that has similar hours. read more

This spot might be the only DSW down South Austin where you can order your shoes from the DSW website or app and pick them up here or go inside the store & browse their HUGE selection of shoes, purses, scarves, socks, etc. This is great for me as I am still not comfortable shopping on my own during these times. The last few times I have visited this location I found it really easy to pull up to their curbside area, call the store inside, and have my new shoes be handed off to me through my passenger side door. The staff here takes precautions around COVID seriously as they are all masked up and keep their distance when they come out to you. They are very responsive to calls and inquiries regarding my orders. read more

For the first time in what seems forever The Lady and I were out shopping this day. Now I hate shopping and particularly shopping for shoes. We spent some time on the computer, going to different shoe companies and came up with a plan of a pair of new ones for me and one for The Lady. We pulled up their website, saw that they had a massive selection and headed out. There were 13 jillion shoes and they had begun reorganizing for the next crop. That means the same company can be in several locations based on style. I had been here several years ago so I snagged a worker bee and she led us to where we needed. Well, they didn't fit. However, she knew her stuff, tried on 3 different types and got a great fit at a lesser price. We updated our info with them and opted out of advertising. We went home, The Lady found what she wanted and ordered to be delivered to the store to try it on. Worked and painless. For those who don't want to give out their info just tell them. The selection was daunting, so don't walk in blindly or you can walk out poor! read more

I've been to many DSWs in my lifetime and I've been to this one a few times before. Today I had an interesting experience that started off bad and ended up quite pleasant. I was searching online last night for rain boots and had a hard time finding anything that was in stock. Went to DSW's site and found a pair that I liked and it said it was in stock at the Sunset Valley location and that I could pick it up today. So I drove to DSW (I live 40 minutes away so it's no short trip) and stood in a long line. There was one person checking everybody out and there was another employee that was up front but was working on something else. Seems like terrible customer service to me. She could clearly see the one cashier needed help yet, she didn't seem to want to help. I felt bad for her coworker doing her best to keep the line down. Finally it's my turn and I tell her I'm there to pick up an online order, except she couldn't find it. I pulled up my email and went to show her the order # to discover that within that hour, I actually got an email that said my order had been cancelled because the boots actually weren't available. Seriously, I drove all that way for NOTHING? The employee, Kimberly, was super sweet and offered to walk me over to where they had other options and helped me look to see if there was an alternative that might work for me. Then she went back to the checkout. Several minutes later she stopped by and checked on me to see if I was doing ok and if I had found something suitable. So sweet of her! Then I decided to peruse the clearance section and there was a sweet lady working in that section that made sure I was doing ok and commented that my foot looked cute in the shoe I was trying on. Nice selection of various name-brand shoes for men and women, arranged in an aesthetically pleasing layout, like a regular shoe store vs. an impersonal warehouse. They don't often advertise specials, like some other local discount shops, but you can expect to get some shoes a little cheaper than at a department store, mainly because they're last year's design or not as popular. Not a huge selection but a decent one, IMO. If you get on their mailing list/preferred customer list, they'll email you coupons and notice of upcoming sales. read more

I stopped in here because my beloved silver sandals decided to break this weekend while out enjoying some beers downtown. I needed to replace them for the sake of my future outfits and decided to go back to the source. I had purchased them last year at a DSW in Virginia. The store is huge and provides a decent selection. I typically don't have problems with that issue because my shoe size isn't as common since I'm taller. I didn't find the shoe I wanted. I learned later that I could go to DSW website and have the shoes I want shipped to the store and picked up within 4-7 days. Now that is decent and it appears I would avoid shipping charges. All DSW shoe stores are huge. This is a good and bad thing in my opinion. The bad part is that because it is so massive it can be a bit overwhelming to look at everything and make a decision. Luckily I have figured out the trick to getting in and out quickly here and that is just skim the aisle from a distance. I do not wear heels so I get to avoid that section, which saves time. The good thing about DSW is that they have a large selection and variety of types of shoes and styles. So when I am looking for a particular shoe to match something there really is no better place to go then DSW. Tons and tons of options. Options are always good, unless of course you are the indecisive type. DSW also does accessories like socks, purses and jewelry. Heaven on earth. Enough said. I am not a mall shopper. I deplore malls and everything they stand for, so practically every shoe I own I have purchased from DSW. I particularly do not like being stalked by sales associates when I am perusing the shoe section looking for inspiration as half of the shoes I own are inspirational purchases. Stalkers chase me away. I remember the first time I walked into a DSW. I was in San Antonio, TX and I saw the sign in the strip mall off 410. I swore when I walked into the place I heard the heavenly angels singing, trumpets and there was this fantastic glow. My heart goes a flutter just talking about it. The best time to shop is at the end of the season with all the discounts you can walk out with 5 pair of shoes for about $100. read more

Instead of a faux-brick facade, perhaps clouds should line the walls of this shoe warehouse. Because the room's roughly the size of the sky. It's that big. Ginormous. Expansive. Did I mention big? It's damn big. At any rate, they subscribe to the large chain theory with regard to shoes, that being you apparently buy in bulk so you can knock off the prices of individual pairs. And there are hundreds of pairs to choose from. It's primarily a women's shoe store, no question, but about a third of it seems to be devoted to guy's steppers, with each about 25% below what you'd fork over elsewhere. It's not a perfect formula: there's small chance you'd find a really great boutique set of shoes that no one else would have, but for the money, there's a large enough selection that if you need a new pair of shoes on the fly you can find something that fits the bill here without breaking the bank in the process. And that's enough to make even the stingiest penny pincher high-step all the way to a night on the town. read more

I was raised with a mother who has both a shoe and a handbag fetish. I've seen her drop $600.00 at DSW before and then have to smuggle the stuff into the house day after day so my dad doesn't know she bought it all at the same time. Which is kind of hilarious. Oops. I just outed Mom. Sorry Mom. Get help! Seriously. That being said, I love this DSW's back room. Aren't all the back rooms the same, you ask? No, darling, no. Not all DSW's are created equal. You see, they stock the stores according to the neighborhood. Which is probably why you don't see many DSW's in the hood. Ba dum dum. I always hit the back room first as it has the best deals. Once, I scored four pairs of shoes (Nine West, Carlos Santana, etc.) for $40.00. The back room is awesome. Once I've exhausted that, I hit up the front room. It's loosely laid out by shoe type. Boots, athletic, heels, wedges, etc. etc. I rarely leave DSW without a pair or two, because, well, as a fat girl, HELL, as a girl, nothing makes you feel quite as beautiful and feminine as a new pair of shoes. read more

I had a return with a unique and complicated background (think multiple transactions acting as one, some in-store, some online, and coupons used that made my credited amount look smaller than it actually should have been - trust me, just confusing.) But after a short couple minutes of explaining the situation and some early morning math, the manager and cashier understood the situation and remedied the return in full. If the shoes don't fit, just put them back in the box and pick another pair. 6. You need a break? Okay, take a moment and study the women who are shopping here. They know exactly what they're doing. Don't be creepy about it. 7. And then take that pair you've picked and laced and walked around in and felt good in and cost $69.99 or more and buy them. I love shoes. If it came down to saving my shoes in a fire or saving my birth certificate...well, you can always order another birth certificate, right? Very much like Tara H.'s mom, I too have to smuggle shoes into the house after a shopping trip at DSW. It's just what I do. What I don't like about shopping for shoes at the mall is the feeling that I'm constantly being stalked, having someone watching over me in case I show an interest in the shoe, ready to come in and scoop up the commission on the sale. Shoe shopping is my therapy, and I don't need you around. At DSW, the sales peeps leave you alone and only offer to either 1) give you a bag to put your shoes in or 2) hold items at the register while you continue to look around (this happens when you buy in bulk). No stalking at all. I've called this store many times just to check to see if they have a shoe in stock in my size, and they are always helpful. The phone on-hold time can be a little long, but they ARE searching through a warehouse looking for my glass slipper, so I understand. A tip if you shop a lot here for shoes - join their reward program. It's free, and you get points for gift certificates and whatnot. You can track your points online and see when you'll be getting a certificate. Also, by joining their mailing list, you get discount cards and other goodies. They send just enough info to keep you interested, but not so much that you want to get off of their mailing list. There, it hurts, doesn't it? Back in CA I relied on DSW for my bigfoot, vegetarian shoe needs. DSW was kind enough to red flag the "odd" sized shoes with colorful stickers, so those of us with special needs could cut to the chase and not waste our time slobbering over some pointy-toed boot of perfection that would have no chance of fitting us. For some reason this particular DSW - or perhaps all DSWs these days - no longer add these stickers to their boxes. So I had to fruitlessly wander the aisles looking for shoes that, I would find, do not exist in this part of the country. And I thought everything was bigger in Texas!! Really didn't find anything to my liking here. Prices are alright, selection for guys not so much. Long story short didn't buy anything.

I call this place, "Shoe Heaven" because it is where all the unwanted, unloved, overstocked shoes appear from previous seasons. They all conglomerate under one roof. Definitely overwhelming if you're not prepared going in. Now, it's not Payless, so don't expect really really cheap prices normally. However, sometimes you can find a great deal in the clearance section in the very very back of the store. What's awesome is that there is a wide variety of sizes and I know that a friend of mine with large size feet is able to find cute shoes when she needs a pair. So, definitely good if you want to find shoes in your size. In the non-clearance areas, the prices are comparable with other discount shoe warehouses. I will attest they have a crudload of Chuck Taylors (which I needed last night) as well as other pretty useful shoes and boot styles. Guys, there's also lots of shoes for y'all, too. They also have a free rewards program where you buy so many $ worth of stuff and get little gift certificates to use, which is pretty nifty. read more

I grew up in DFW, so I always thought this place was named Dallas Shoe Warehouse. Apparently I was mistaken. Either way, this particular store is by far the largest and swankiest DSW I have ever seen. Jaime isn't kidding about the jungle theme. And the shoe selection is the same. Rather than peruse the latest and greatest shoes and handbags, I make a beeline for the clearance aisles. This place is similar to any other "designer brands at discount prices" place - you have to go early and often to hook a stellar deal. However, you always have the option of spending a bit more to get a great pair of shoes. On the couple occasions I've been to this store I've found some amazing deals on gorgeous designer shoes. But each time, I chickened out, only to return a few days later to find that the shoes had been purchased (duh!) So if you find something you love, just take the plunge. You won't be sorry. DSW also has a web site, which I'm sure most of you know, but I've had much better luck finding unique and discounted styles at their stores. read more

I went shoe shopping with Peter P. today - he was shoe shopping not me. And I "crossed my heart and hopped to die" that noway would I post on Facebook that we went shoe shopping together - a guy has a reputation to uphold with his high school mates after all:) But, thanks to Peter I found a replacement to my beloved Skechers that fit my feet like they were made for me. I tried on numerous shoes and was complaining that Converse had no arch support when Peter directed me to the Skecher display at the entrance that I had completely overlooked... Thanks to Peter and DSW I have a second pair of the most comfortable shoes I have ever put my feet in at 30.00 less than what I paid at The Skecher store and in black (more fashionable than taupe). And double Yay to hear my total is 86.46 when I was expecting to pay 99.95 plus tax! read more

The store is large and clean enough, but there didn't seem to be any employees helping customers. I found a pair of boots for my daughter after wandering around for awhile. When I got to the cashier she didn't acknowledge my daughter or me. She just carried on a conversation with the cashier next to her about candy. The other cashier took the time to greet her customer and ask them if they found everything they needed. Meanwhile the lady I was stuck with bluntly requested my personal information instead of asking me if I wanted to join their rewards program. No thanks, DSW. Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! DSW is the place for shoe-aholics. DSW has rows and rows and rows of shoes. Athletic shoes. Dressy heels. Flip flops. Sandals. Work pumps. Boots. If I'm looking for shoes, DSW is my first stop. Lots of brands. Lots of styles. I'm usually guaranteed to walk away with at least one pair. But I'd be lying to you if I didn't say that some of the shoes there are fugly too. That's part of the fun though...cute shoe...cute shoe...WTF? Who wears this shoe?!...cute shoe... And then sometimes you try the really fugly ones on with the thought that they MUST look better on than they do in the box. And they don't. And that's how they end up on the clearance rack... The clearance rack! With some hunting, I have found some great shoes on the clearance rack. A colored sticker on the box will let you know how much percent off the shoes are (usually it's 30 or 40%, but there are some pairs that are 70 or 80% off). DSW is all self-serve shoe shopping. If you see a shoe on display that you like, right below it is that shoe in all the sizes they have. So easy to quickly try something on! While the shoes aren't always cheap (there are pairs at $100+), they are all supposedly discounted. In addition, there's the clearance rack... The very cool thing about this DSW is that it is different inside from any other DSW I have been in. Usually DSWs are very very bright and very very white inside. Almost glaring. This DSW has a much more toned down interior. It was very pleasant. DSW is a great place to look for shoes and I find this location especially nice. read more

Holy Shoe Heaven. Just the mere smell of this place excites me.. I could literally spend countless hours happily wandering around and soaking in the shoe's. Fortunately my sensible side (or whats left of it) drag's me and my credit card out of there before I can spend my entire rent check. It's organized by type so it's easy to find what you want, and the prices are good but can get a little high on some of the more name brand stuff.. but OH MY GOD: the backroom. It may seem cheap but I take myself straight back there before I even look at anything else, because I unfailingly find the perfect pair of fabulous heels that I never knew I couldn't live without for up to 70% off.. *swoon*. The only downfall is that the men's section is a little sad.. sort of small and without much variety-but it's a rare occassion that I shoe shop for feet that are not my own so I don't really care that much, sorry. The staff is helpful, not pushy, and there's always someone around if you need them. If you haven't been, go. read more

Actually, this place is not bad. I say that hesitatingly because, in general, I avoid malls and chain stores like this as if they were infected with plague. But I ended up in here one afternoon after a visit to PetSmart when it started pouring rain and I was waiting for it to clear up. I walked out with a pair of BC flats that, as it turns out, match my little dog. I am not that kind of person. I do not match my shoes to my bag or my hair or my jewelry. Or my dog. But he is cute, and the shoes are cute, and they happen to go together perfectly. So, I will endure the snickers when we go for walks. Although, in my neighborhood, it's possible that people could actually think I've finally gotten my sartorial act together--which is even more frightening than accidentally matching your shoes to your dog. read more

I couldn't figure out why this DSW seemed so much more organized than the north location, then I realized that the benches are off to the side instead of the middle of the aisle, so there is plenty of room to walk around. A very nice selection of shoes. I was specifically looking for some closed toed black heels and there were lots to choose from. I didn't end up buying any, because I was hoping not to spend more than $40, but it seemed like all the ones I really liked were $60-$80. read more

Customer service? DSW knows what excellent customer service is and they provide it. This morning I went to 6 stores looking for aqua shoes to wear for a water aerobics class where the bottom of the pool is rough. The first 5 stores said they did not have what I wanted and did so in a less than friendly manner. The 6th store, DSW Shoes, did not have them in my size ... however, the difference in attitude and the level of customer service was phenomenonal. I was greeted as I walked in the door and immediately assisted to find the shoes and when we did not see them in my size the young sales clerk suggested that she would look on line and order them for me. She took care of it all and there is no shipping charge either. I will definitely go back to DSW when I need or want shoes again. Let me start off by saying as a true shoe addict I've always loved DSW. I live close to Buda so this particular store is not close to me but it is the only store around. I came into the store today to buy some shoes bc I'm going on vacation in a few days. I purchased the ones that I liked & went on my way. When I got home I needed to take my dog out so I wanted to put on the shoes to do so I then realized they were both the left foot & both different sizes! You could only imagine how big of an annoyance this is bc I literally live 15 mins from this store. So I bring these shoes back, there was a lady that helped me that was very helpful (as far as my dsw account) I explained my situation & immediately a manager came over & checked the shoes then went & grabbed me another size 6 while leaving the current size 6 on the counter. The lady rings me up again & I'm sent on my way something told me to check the shoes again and these shoes were AGAIN WRONG! This time they were both the right foot! Y'all I was furious by now. I stomped back in there the manager was standing there & I said wrong again both the right foot all she did was laugh & say "omg what are the odds" She goes to grab the CORRECT shoe & send me on my way. Only once did this "manager" apologize, I stated to them I live 15 mins away & this was a super annoyance & all I got was an apology once as this literally happened not once but TWICE! Very very poor customer service. Not sure if I'll be returning to this location like I said before I am a true shoe lover but from now on I may be just spoiling myself when I visit my mom in Dallas. read more

Let me start by saying I like DSW. However, I just went in and purchased the exact same shoe, exact same size, one in black and one in white. One was discounted 20 percent and one discounted 40 percent. I asked the girl as I checked out if they price matched as they were the same shoe. This place frightened me! I walked in through the gigantic doors, and there was this thumping, loud, jungle-invoking music (lots of bass and synth, maybe some inhuman howling), odd low-but-still-glowing lighting, a huge, high ceilinged room practically empty of anything but sterile looking leather shoes in wide, spacious rows. I was overwhelmed. I walked through the rows of boots just to get my bearings. I didn't want any boots that day, and after that dizzying walk, I never really wanted to buy boots again. They were like snakes surrounding me and threatening me: "Must buy overpriced leather goods! Now!" I found my way back to the sale section (behind some curtains in the very back) and honestly wasn't that impressed, despite the voluminous selection. It was hard to tell navy from black in the lighting, and it was arranged by size -- but I guess they were trying to make the selection look more diverse, so instead of putting all 5 pairs of one kind of shoe together, I kept coming across the same shoe in different rows of my size. After getting my bearings, I headed back out to the non-boot heels section. Nice variety, but nothing I wanted under $50, which was my self-imposed pricing limit. Go here with an open mind and a ready-to-open wallet, and you'll find something really cool and classy, I bet. read more
