All DSW shoe stores are huge. This is a good and bad thing in my opinion. The bad part is that because it is so massive it can be a bit overwhelming to look at everything and make a decision. Luckily I have figured out the trick to getting in and out quickly here and that is just skim the aisle from a distance. I do not wear heels so I get to avoid that section, which saves time. The good thing about DSW is that they have a large selection and variety of types of shoes and styles. So when I am looking for a particular shoe to match something there really is no better place to go then DSW. Tons and tons of options. Options are always good, unless of course you are the indecisive type. DSW also does accessories like socks, purses and jewelry. Anyway I enjoy options and will continue to pop in and out of DSW when I am in need of a decent shoe.

Instead of a faux-brick facade, perhaps clouds should line the walls of this shoe warehouse. Because the room's roughly the size of the sky. It's that big. Ginormous. Expansive. Did I mention big? It's damn big. At any rate, they subscribe to the large chain theory with regard to shoes, that being you apparently buy in bulk so you can knock off the prices of individual pairs. And there are hundreds of pairs to choose from. It's primarily a women's shoe store, no question, but about a third of it seems to be devoted to guy's steppers, with each about 25% below what you'd fork over elsewhere. It's not a perfect formula: there's small chance you'd find a really great boutique set of shoes that no one else would have, but for the money, there's a large enough selection that if you need a new pair of shoes on the fly you can find something that fits the bill here without breaking the bank in the process. And that's enough to make even the stingiest penny pincher high-step all the way to a night on the town.

I have feet at a size 11 and its normally hard to find shoes. This DSW location is huge and has a good amount of 11's. Most department stores don't allow coupons or discounts to be applied to certain brands, but that was not the case here. I saved $20 and got my Birkenstocks here for only $80. Score!

A warehouse full of last years shoes!

Friendly cashier. I like how the shoes are organized, made it easier to find my shoe size and type of shoe.

I learned later that I could go to DSW website and have the shoes I want shipped to the store and picked up within 4-7 days.

Good day, Wanted to…read morereach out and share my experience on a release by Sneaker Politics. There was an Air Max 95 Bandana Release on Saturday, during SXSW on 3/14. I got to the store at 9:30am and was greeted by a gentleman (smaller black guy with shades), who gave me the details of how the release was going to work. He granted me a wristband that had #3 on it. Door opened at 11 and majority of people got wristbands and lined up. Everyone lined up according to their numbers on their wristbands. With me being #3, I entered the store and bought the releases. I understand that it's a release, so I do understand one per person. When I walked out there was a Hispanic male outside who worked with the store giving out wristbands. I wanted to get my daughter a pair, so I asked could I get back in line grab another. The line was really long. I grabbed another wristband and was #76. I was told from that Hispanic male that o could get another but I had to go to the back of the line, which is what I did. I waited and waited until my turn. The line grew longer behind me. When I reached the registered, the same gentleman (black guy with braids) who checked me out the first time said I couldn't get about pair until everyone got a pair. He said if I wanted another pair then I needed to get out the store and wait back in line (which is what I did the second time and was #76). I showed him my green #76 wristband and he rudely said i needed to get back in line again to get another pair. I was not trying to argue, so I told him I'd do that but this was wrong. I was disappointed. The black guy in braids stated that he was the manager and there was nothing I could do to get another pair right then and there. I told him the guy with the wristbands said I couldn't get back in line. He said "the guy outside with the wristbands is a part time guy who doesn't matter to the store." He's not the manager, I am the guy to make the decisions." He was very rude! I walked out and got back in line AGAIN! When I got back in line, there were others who had got back in line who were in front of me and waited twice while it was my third time to wait in line for a 2nd pair. The line was long. A few guys had bags in front of me. Just made me feel upset and targeted. The line moved and I was now one guy away from the register. The guy in front of me also had a bag and pair in his hand that he bought earlier. But he didn't wait 3 times like me. When it was my turn, I told the managers in braids, "am I good now because I waited." He laughed and said he was the manager again. He gave me a speech about how he makes the calls and that I got the pair I needed. He said, "you got the pair you needed, right?" Very rude, while laughing, and it felt like he was really making fun of me. He then used profanity and mentioned that he needed to make his living. "You're not going to fucking stop me from making my money, you got your pair didn't you?" I didn't say anything, then I kindly mentioned I'm not going to argue, I just want to make a purchase and leave. He gave me my pair and checked me out. I kindly reached over to shake his hand or give him a dap. He laughed at me and didn't bother shaking my hand, so that's when I left. My experience with Sneaker Politics was very disappointing. All the other employees were great until I reached that gentleman. Very unprofessional, laughed at me, used profanity, and I'm sure he didn't have that conversation like that with other customers. I felt dumb and targeted but thankful I got me and my daughter a pair!

I stopped by on a whim and found the sneakers I was looking for, and snagged the last pair in my…read moresize. Staff were friendly and the overall ambiance was chill without being dull or overwhelming. Typical retail prices are to be expected, nothing too crazy. That said, I wish they would carry more unisex footwear in smaller sizes. I typically wear 6 women's and 4/4.5 in big kids. I prefer the latter due to better color-way variations. Solid spot to check out and try on the latest footwear.

Chisos Boots - Happy customer!!

Chisos Boots

I was in Austin recently and had been on the hunt for a good pair of cowboy boots. I'd tried…read moreseveral places over on South Congress -- some decent options, but honestly, nothing that really fit right or felt like it was worth the price. In researching brands, fit, and who actually makes the best boots, Chisos kept popping up on my radar. So I made the trip across town to their shop. It's tucked away in a little white house with Texas flags flying out front -- not your typical retail space, more like visiting someone's home who happens to make boots. (As Gannon, the guy working there, told me: "We're more of a destination, less of a walk-in." People seek them out -- and after going, I completely understand why.) This place isn't on the tourist drag -- and that's intentional. You don't just stumble across Chisos. You make the choice to go there, and they meet you with the kind of experience that makes it worth the trip. From the second I walked in, it felt different. Gannon offered me water, beer, sparkling water, or whiskey (pro tip: take him up on it before you leave like I did). But what really stood out was how helpful and genuine he was -- no sales pitch, just great conversation. We talked about the company's history, where they're headed, and what makes their boots stand out. He's a true believer in Chisos -- a small company with just four employees -- and it shows. Gannon shared details like the time it takes to manufacture their anniversary boot, the sourcing of Cayman from East Texas (wild alligator, harvested by the owner and friends -- not farm-raised), and how the boots are built to last. He was wearing his own pair of Chisos rough-out boots -- his everyday pair -- and shared how long he's had them. It wasn't just a sales pitch or showroom gloss; they're out there living in the product. And the boots themselves? Damn comfortable. Like, right-out-of-the-box comfortable. Gannon and I talked about the break-in period -- he said to expect about a week of wear, and after that, the boots will have molded to your feet. The fit feels natural and solid, not stiff or painful like so many other brands I've tried. I didn't end up buying that day because I wanted to check with my wife first (always a smart move). When I mentioned feeling bad about not purchasing right away, Gannon just smiled and said he'd rather I take my time and make the right call than rush into anything. That kind of integrity is rare these days -- and it was honestly one of the most impressive parts of the visit. Before I walked out the door, Gannon made sure I had a cold water for the road. It was a hot day in Austin, and that small gesture, paired with the respect he showed by not pressuring me into a sale, really stuck with me. It's the kind of customer service that speaks volumes about the people behind the product. If you're in the market for cowboy boots -- or if you just appreciate well-made things from good people -- Chisos is absolutely worth the trip. They aren't cheap, but the quality, story, and service feel like they fully justify the price. Gannon even walked me through how to order online when I'm ready. I know what I'll be buying soon. And I know I'll be back -- next time, I won't be leaving empty handed.

Let me start with saying this is the comfiest boot I've worn. BUT, the experience of trying them on…read moreinstore at their HQ storefront was very worth it. From the second you breach the door, leather. Fresh leather is all you can smell. A very quaint and aesthetic lounging area available to try on boots. It's like Ollivanders Wands but for cowboy boots. You don't pick the boot, it picks you. I walked in wanting a No. 2 Square Toe, and walked out with a No. 6 Roper. Also, if Juan is there, you're in good hands. He'll help you get the right size, & he's an all around cool guy to hang out with. 6/5star experience.
