The store was absolutely packed, yet there were still plenty of well trained staff helping customers. We didn't have to wait at all for assistance, which was great. We found a hat that was very close to what we were looking for, had it fitted, and it turned out great. After we made our purchase, they even took us over to their bar for a celebratory shot of whiskey. I love the poker playing raccoons! If you're looking for boots, hats, or just want the classic Texas boot store experience, Allen's is still worth the visit, even on a busy day.

Since it's a local business, headquartered in Austin, I received the order shipment in just two days after purchasing online! I was a bit worried the shoe size wouldn't fit, but they fit perfectly! Those .5 sizes are useful. Helm makes stylish looking footwear with high quality leather made in the US and Brazil. Both pairs said they were made in Brazil, which is an automatic plus for me. The soles have unique designs made to last for a long time. It takes a bit to break them in, but they are comfortable for daily wear. It's great for both casual jeans or professional suit attires! I was looking for a popular brand of shoes that had recently come in a slide with a floral design. I had prepaid for them, so I was there to pick them. While I was there, I looked at a few other sandals and also bought a very nice pair of navy blue with a bit of navy blue sparkle on that sandal part. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized the sandals that I purchased online would not fit me. I don't know what I was thinking because slides never do fit my wide foot. I guess I thought they were more like flip-flops but my bad I didn't even open and checked them out while I was at the store. I'm hoping to be able to return them. I did meet the manager and will re-contact him when I get home, but I have no phone service at this time as I am out of the country. I'm very hopeful. I can get the very least due and exchange and apply the amount I paid toward a different style of shoe. There were a huge amount of different shoe design and the sizes were a very good range. The trousers ripped in the crotch and in the seat when I was getting in the car at the end of my wedding night. When I went back they claimed that they couldn't do anything but sell me a replacement pair of trousers. They also put it on the manufacturers of the suit and the type of material that was used. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the material and that this has happened. If I would've know this then I would've just rented instead of investing my money into a suit that was going to get only one use. Be cautious when dealing with Modern Man.

The coolest thing about this shop, that they should lead with, it the little tailor shop in the back, where they have all these contraptions and supplies ready to customize your look. It's by the bathrooms that, we found out too late, customers aren't supposed to use. The location is fun! It's right on SoCo, with all kinds of other similar western wear shops in the direct vicinity. The prices are a bit out there. Yea, they're expensive. But this stuff is all handmade (mostly) or hand-tailored with a touch of love that goes into each garment. You won't find this stuff at K-Mart or Sears. Nobody's gonna show up to that next rodeo dressed just like you if you shop here.
