I like to normally get the Galbi Tang, which is a really yummy beef soup, their ox tail stew is what they are known for though. Although I'm not a huge fan of ox tail soup i still liked it. This review would really be 3.5 stars due to poor service. Its really slow but i keep coming back for the food. Their boiled pork is one of the best i've tried! The down side is this place gets pricey and i think they just got higher. All in all I do like this place and they are open 24-7. Give it a go. :) read more

Even though there are 2 of these restaurants, the menu and the price are drastically different. Last weekend I went to falls church location because I happened to be in the area. It was great food with very reasonable price. Since the Centreville location was close to home, I decided to go there. The items on the menu were not the same other than the soup. And the prices were much more expensive. We loved the fried chicken as appetizer in falls church. They didn't have it over here. We ordered the stir fried chicken instead but it was not that good. The worst service I have ever experienced. The waitress served my dad soup in a cup (he asked for warm tea) after he notified her, she snatched the cup and didn't come back with any refreshments. They didn't serve us an equal amount of banchan as the people who were sitting besides us. The soups here are very hearty and delicious. I've never really been a fan of seolleongtang, but this place has one of the better ones I've tasted. I've tried the lamb stew, but they overpower it with too many spices and pungent greens for my liking. They have toganitang (cow knee cartilage soup), and it is delicious. This is the soup that Andrew Zimmern called a freak show in a bowl on his Korea episode of Bizarre Foods. The real freak show is Andrew because this soup is awesome! I suspect he just has an aversion to the texture of the cartilage. Come here for a meal before or after a trip to the hot tubs/sauna at Spa World a few doors down. We used to go to the location in Annandale all the time before it closed down. We finally had the chance to go to this location this past Sunday for lunch. The place is pretty small and was quite busy. With only three people working, (it seemed like 1), service was a bit slow. Their soups were good, as expected. I went here about six month ago and we loved everything. We went here again last night and all food was not their original taste. Something has changed: something drastically and negatively. Kim Chi was old, soup did not taste like genuine bone soup, I could taste MSG at every swallow, side dishes lacked texture big time, and Bo Ssam was plain. None of the food we ordered for 9 people were the same ad six month ago. I don't think I would go there again. Not to mention that a customer at another table had to ask for a replacement of steamed rice due to the food remains on the rice from previous use. This place has really good gomt tang and yom-so-tang (goat soup). Their kimchi and radish is probably the best in the centreville area. They will give you more broth for free, if you ask. (For the gom tang) It's open 24/7 so that's a plus. Highly recommend read more

Not good, not bad. The fact that they give you the ingredients to put into the soup is something I could definitely get used to (also something I didn't realize about my 'appetizers' beforehand:). I think that this place has the best sul lung tang in NVA. Their bone hae jang gook is also yum! I love that they are open 24 hours so I can stop by after drinking or go early in the morning for a hefty breakfast. The prices are not bad for the quality of the food. Killer oxtail soup at reasonable prices

Mmm very good gom tang (ox tail soup). I was pleasantly surprised because normally I only like my mom's gom tang. Be sure to add in a lot of salt slowly until the flavoring is right and lots of green onions. I normally don't really like the meat and focus on just the broth but after some prodding I dug into the ox tail and it was delicious. You don't really get many panchans but you get pretty much unlimited kimchee (regular and radish cubes). The kimchee sits at the table which I never love but it is easy access. read more

I love Gom Tang E!! Their food is delicious!! I always get their yukgaejang (spicy soup made out of beef broth), haejangguk with bone (spicy bone broth), and potato stew (spicy potato, pork stew). The food here is fantastic. I always order the yum so tang whenever i get here. The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned. The broth is sweet and flavorful. And the dipping sauce, omg, it is like the most wonderful thing in the world. Also, the kimchi is really good. It seems to be much fresher than the other places' kimchi. However, the customer service is kinda disappointing especially in the late night. The waitresses are nice,but the waiters are really inattentive. Basically, you gonna have to refill the water by yourself, hunt down the waiter who is doing something god knows in the kitchen just to ask for the check. Anyway, i was about to give it a 4-star because of the service but the food is just too good read more

Avoid at all costs!! This restaurant USED to be good years ago and I"m surprised how much it's gone downhill. I ordered their famous oxtail soup and my bf ordered their spicy chicken which was advertised on a huge banner as one of the chef's special. The famous oxtail soup was alright, the flavor of the soup was there but the meat was SO dry and chewy and only a tiny bit of noodles at the very bottom. For a restaurant that is famous for their oxtail soup, this was a letdown. My bf's chicken was just awful, I could tell right off the bat right when they set the plate down, that the chicken was so so so so dry. First off, they took the skin off completely and it was just a whole chicken or half a chicken cut up into pieces on a hot plate with gochujang sauce smothered all over it. I took one bite of it and I literally had to drink water. Not only that, the onions were so potent like they tasted completely raw! For $20 plate of chicken, I would much rather go to Bonchon or Cheagajip for juicy moist chicken for less than 20 dollars. It also took a while for the waitress to come back and replenish all the side dishes and I had to go to the counter to pay b/c the waitress never came by. I will never be back when there are a plethora of korean restaurants in the area that are much better! read more

I give 4 stars for their soup (especially with free refill of broth) but I took one star off because their Kimchi wasn't that good. Someone may say that Kimchi is just a side dish but I think it's very important when it comes to this type of restaurant. To Koreans, a good Kimchi is a must with this type of soup (Sullongtang). When they first opened they had one of the best Kimchis in town (both cabbage and radish kinds) but they are just not the same any more. Also, it seems like their Kimchis are being made by different people (i.e., don't have a dedicated recipe or cook?) because their Kimchis tasted different on my past three visits. I would still go back there because there is only one other restaurant in NoVA area that specializes in this particular soup and that place isn't that good. They used to be okay but since the new ownership their soup's quality has gone down (this one is located in Annandale next to Giant). read more

First let me say, this was one of our favorite restaurants in the area. We left for a while and returned this summer. Since being back we have visited twice. Both times the waitress spoke to my wife using . This offended my wife both times however she overlooked it on our first visit because the waitress is older and seemed stressed out. This time however she did not. In addition to using what my wife considered to be eude language, when we asked to substitute the soju that normally comes with the special for our usual soup, we overheard the waitress complaining to her coworker about our request. Once this issue was sorted out we recieved our food very unceremoniously. My wife decided that since the service was bad and the waitress was overheard complaining we would not leave a tip tonight. Then, in a moment that honestly had me baffled, the younger of the two waitresses followed us out the door and demanded to know why we did not leave a tip. After several minutes of back and forth with my wife explaining her side and the waitress doing her best to convince us to change our minds, we finally left. The whole time, the older, rude waitress would poke her head out the door and add in her 2 cents. Honestly the food flavor was ok, but if this is the type of service we should expect we will not return. This is unfortunate. read more

This is the only place I know (besides the one in Annandale) where you can get pretty good sulleongtang four in the morning. It is a great change of gears from the other typical Korean cuisine available. Granted it is not as good as your mothers, but it is definitely not far behind. I try to order a different part of the cow every time I go and strangely enough it works. And wait.......BAM free refills! Thats if you can eat as much as that guy on man vs. food. The staff is always on point and friendly. The price is not bad either. (under $10) Unless they fail some kind of health code I will keep coming and coming. four stars all day. read more

Soup, soup and more soup 24 hrs/day, plus unlimited broth. Good on a cold day. I tasted the hot and spicy beef soup. It was good and fresh. They served us fresh kimchee and sour kimchee. I was disappointed there weren't more korean dishes on the menu, just soup. Also the pork dish was disappointing, i wish they would have cut the pieces and presented it better.
