a bowl of rice and vegetables

Mediocre food, gimmicky setup Came here with a friend who's craving skewers. Food is okay, nothing exceptional. Very typical selections, Some of the skewer portions are leaning on the small side. We had to fill up by ordering fried rice. Environment is okay, but not likely gonna return. Food 6, Service 8, Ambiance 7, value 6

A very interesting experience and I'm glad I went but probably will not go again. As others have mentioned, it is HOT sitting in front of the grill. I truly underestimated the heat and you really will sweat if you sit too close. The other complaint is just that everything is so slow. This really isn't the restaurant's fault since cooking the meat is kind of the point, but it still feels agonizingly slow waiting for the first bite and then again on our second order. Perhaps this is actually why the place is usually full (because people end up staying for so long). The food itself was quite good. Nothing special but definitely good tasting skewers. Beer tower was nice too since there were multiple sizes. The servers are somewhat attentive. Sometimes they're super on top of things and will come move your skewers to the warm zone when they're done cooking but other times it's super difficult to flag them down. Overall still worth experiencing, but definitely could have been better.

This place allow customers to cook the skewers in the rotating heat grill in the centre of the table. Therefore everything is served uncooked and fresh. The waitress comes around often to check the food and cook it for you as the night goes on. The spices they use are very authentic. Perhaps the best skewer place in Vancouver Highly recommend if you want some authentic Chinese skewers

Loved our experience here. YES it is quite warm inside, but what do you expect when you're grilling over a gas grill? Great options for skewers ranging from lamb to pork to beef along with kidney and chicken hearts plus some veggies and bread. A few of the skewer options do come out already cooked for you like the kidney to ensure appropriate cook time. The concept is awesome - the skewers are placed on the rack and continually rotate. The servers let you know how long to wait. But they also come around quite often and help take things off when they notice they're done. There is a rack above the heat to keep cooked skewers while you eat. You also get three different kinds of sauce/spices to dip your skewers in. Loved the convenient tiny fork to pull off the meat from the skewer easily. The service was excellent - they noticed I was pregnant and gave me a pillow to put behind my back. It was always pretty full but they do keep a list and call you when your table is ready. Would be great with a bunch of friends too - they have table tappers for beer!

A fun experience! Been wanting to try a restaurant where skewers rotate and cook on a grill in front of you. My group actually was planning to go to a restaurant down the block but it was full so we stumbled upon here. It was about a 30 min wait for our group of 7. The main items we ordered were the lamb, pork belly, chicken gizzard for the grill. The fried rice was really good and went well with the meat. It was also a good portion. My friend really enjoyed their bread and toasting it over the grill. The meat was all good quality but we felt that the portions were a bit small for the price. In total, we spent around $350 and we didnt feel super full. The food was tasty and a fun experience but we felt like we could eat more.

The restaurant's concept of "rotating skewers" seemed really interesting so I decided to go. I got the lamb/beef/asparagus with enoki mushrooms/pork belly. Overall, it seems that the meat was marinated in the same sauce, which I found to be quite sweet. The meat quality was okay but I had the same sweetness in every bite which I found overpowering. I did not enjoy the sauce that they used to marinate the meat... personally I prefer Happy Tree House skewers compared to here (in terms of taste). The interior was clean, simple, and nice. The servers were very fast to give you the skewers and to clean up. !!!! Be careful because it gets very hot since you are sitting right in front of the rotating grill. My face seemed like it was getting cooked alongside the meat. You aren't able to adjust the heat, and the temperature is quite high since you are cooking the raw meat. It takes approx. 10 mins to cook the meat skewers.

looks clean inside, like the idea BBQ my own orders in front of me with self roller make the skews evenly cook, and also I can order one of each skew not like others BBQ skew place need to order minimum 5. Suggest more options flavors in Sojus!

Food quality is not good, we ordered the lamb skewers, the meat is dark, but the server(the one with red hair) is not changing for us. We also ordered the Napa and enoki mushrooms but both of them come with a lot vermicelli. I'm not sure whether they marinated the meat, they all taste no flavored, no enough salt, only cumin and dry chili powder.

Gailan was soft and easy to bite into. The soya chicken was topped with a scallion ginger oil. The roast pork was so crunchy and the bbq pork delicious. It is small and quaint with some of the smaller combined tables having plastic dividers separating the diners. I appreciated that the establishment has a clear process of operations for take out and dine in. The team is efficient in their service and ability to turn tables so we were seated pretty quickly. We tried the BBQ pork, roasted pork, soya chicken and BBQ duck. BBQ Pork - was standard and pretty good. However, I've definitely had better elsewhere in regard to flavor and crispiness. Roasted Pork - I really enjoyed this as it was moist, savory, and not overtly sweet. Soya Chicken - was ok... kind of dry. BBQ Duck - was ok as well. Definitely be sure to order the pieces without the bones. I opted for them to give me whatever pieces and ended up with barely any meat. Overall, it was good, but not anything extraordinarily amazing. FYI - they are a cash only establishment. We were not aware but luckily there is a grocery store on the second floor of the building with an ATM machine.

It's located in the Aberdeen food court fairly close to the air train station and seating is available further down in the food court; it was pretty packed on a Saturday morning so you have to be ready to share or prepare to square up for a table. BBQ Pork: Perfectly crunchy skin and the pork is moist all the way through. Satisfying chew, but not overcooked at all. Perfect amount of sodium and zero funk that you can sometimes get with pork. The perfect, encyclopedic Chinese bbq pork. BBQ Duck: Super savory and fatty with a bit of sweetness on the skin. Again, super moist (almost juicy dare I say) all the way through. Literally no sauce needed.

All are amazing, especially the steamed chicken!! I ordered this by mistake once and didn't realize something so simple could be so delicious. The ginger scallion sauce they provide with it is so good. Everything always tastes fresh. Prices are great too, especially with the US to CAN conversion. Highly recommended!

Every item we ordered was well prepared and true to the HK flavors you'd expect -- nothing overly salty or greasy, just balanced and satisfying. We tried half a BBQ duck and the three-meat combo with rice, and both were excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous, and I especially appreciated how generous they were with sauces -- a small detail that goes a long way. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the food temperature. Nothing came out piping hot, which left me wondering if the dishes had been sitting out for a bit -- or perhaps the restaurant just doesn't see as much volume during off-peak hours. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but hotter plates would elevate the experience. Pricing was very reasonable, especially with their ongoing specials, making it an easy choice for a casual meal that delivers on flavor and value. Despite the quiet setting, Yummy BBQ deserves more attention -- it's a solid spot for classic HK BBQ done right.

Though it's already close to the end of the business hours but it was still tasty with the plum sauce. Portion is large. Definitely I will try their BbQ pork and chicken in my next visit! We intended on getting the à la carte menu at first but realized that based on how many big eaters we had, it was more bang for our buck with the all you can eat menu. We chose the lowest tier of all you can eat and there were some people who preferred seafood; even if you upgraded to the highest tier the selection in our opinion, didn't get drastically better that it was "worth it". We had a party of six and was seated at a long table with a divider. When we got to our seat, the staff had placed the divider at exactly the table edges connecting the two stove but it was so squishy and uncomfortable for 6 people that we had to move the divider over a little. There's a time limit for all you can eat however with one stove and us not knowing that the vegetables came raw and in full foiled packages, it took a long time to grill anything. Our waitress came over many many times to remind us about the time limit and even then... we were well over our time limit even though we only put in two rounds of food. One stove shared between six people was awful. It's not like our stove could cook any faster even if the waitress rushed us. We were even ending the meal with s'mores and the waitress couldn't wait any longer and brought over the bill. We had to put down our s'mores stick to pay the bill so she could leave us alone to finish the meal... the restaurant was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no one waiting in the lobby. Did not appreciate the service here. Overall, food was greasy and not memorable (as I just tried a different grilled meat spot a few days prior). The portions were weird. Most of the dishes were severely under portioned so we made sure to up our portions for round two. Our time was up before we could even put in our final round three order. The staff also didn't respect some of the items. We put in ice cream on the first order as people wanted to use it as a grease palate cleanser and it was only when we followed up with the waitress did they say "oh we thought it should be served at the end of the meal instead since it's a dessert". Perhaps following the orders of what customers mark off would help with better customer service....

I hear good things about The Meat Up so came for their AYCE lunch…read more As this was out first time; the server was very patient in explaining which menu we should select and how the process works. There are different tiers for the AYCE, we just selected the Classic ($36.99/person, Mon-Thur all day; Fri-Sat 11am-4pm). For the hot pot, we just go up to the open refrigeration and select our meats and vegetables, and place in the metal pot. We bring the metal pot to the bar/front counter and select a choice of soup. I tried the bone broth (which was just ok) and the tom yum (which was good). The hot pot would be delivered to our table when done. Note, for those we don't want the BBQ meats, they do have a "Magic Pot Special" (Mon-Fri, 11am-4pm) for $25.99/person. For the BBQ meats, we select from our choices and was brought to our table cooked and placed on the hot plate to keep warm. The chicken and beef were excellent and not dry. Salads and other cooked food at the front counter also included. There is free parking out front. The décor is from the old ACB restaurant which brought fond memories from 30 years ago!
