Salmon belly, and otoro sashimi
Richard U.

Japanese yakiniku and sushi!? Yes please! Came in for an early dinner. The place was empty so no wait. I went a bit all out here and went with A5 Wagyu rib eye, King mushrooms for the yakiniku grill. Dipping options was pretty simple, some vinegar, himalayan pink salt and a coriander spice mix. Also got sashimi otoro which was buttery delicious! The salmon belly sashimi is something you don't always see (usually see it grilled) on menus so tried that as well. It is scored with knife cuts to make it easier to eat but very delicious. The menu is pretty extensive and would totally come back for more!

Delicious food, good service, clean shop, clean washroom, free ice cream included. Everything is good, but a bit expensive. Free parking for 2 hours...

The sushi was delicious!! First time I've had Toro in a long time! Very tender and fresh, everything was fresh and good. Our waitress was attentive and kept checking on us.

SUSHI X BBQ this place in Richmond has best of both worlds! With a variety of different bbq options they also have a nice spread from Sashimi, nigiri, rolls, Teppans and rice dishes! * Agedashi tofu ~ this was super crispy and the sauce came on the side! Tofu was firm tofu too so it didn't break easily. Seasoning is on the lighter side. I do wish it was a bit more reasoned. 6/10. * Chicken teriyaki ~ super flavourful and tender juicy chicken. The sauce was thick and the veggies underneath was good with the sauce. 10/10. * Teppan grill squid ~ a nice variety of tentacles and body. There is also asparagus on the plate as well. The flavour is light but fragrant from the Teppan. Nicely seasoned not too strong. 8/10. * Summerside roll ~ the jalapeño is good with the torched salmon and crab meat. The kick on this roll is crazy! 6/10. * Crispy California roll ~ super good, the cream cheese helped enhance the overall flavour. The tobiko added a nice texture and taste to it as well. 9/10. * Rib finger ~ bbq flavour. It was ultra tender meat, lightly marinated, good with the cumin seasoning they have on the side for you. 9/10. * Duck breast ~ we got it with shoyu seasoning but it was ultra light. But with the side of salt and cumin this was delicious! 10/10. * Black dragon roll ~ the unagi was good with the avocado. The prawn was nice and crunchy inside. 7/10. * 8/10 ~ Overall they have a nice variety for when your craving both sushi and bbq! Their meats aren't too marinated so it's good for those who aren't a big fan of sauce or marinate.

Gailan was soft and easy to bite into. The soya chicken was topped with a scallion ginger oil. The roast pork was so crunchy and the bbq pork delicious. It is small and quaint with some of the smaller combined tables having plastic dividers separating the diners. I appreciated that the establishment has a clear process of operations for take out and dine in. The team is efficient in their service and ability to turn tables so we were seated pretty quickly. We tried the BBQ pork, roasted pork, soya chicken and BBQ duck. BBQ Pork - was standard and pretty good. However, I've definitely had better elsewhere in regard to flavor and crispiness. Roasted Pork - I really enjoyed this as it was moist, savory, and not overtly sweet. Soya Chicken - was ok... kind of dry. BBQ Duck - was ok as well. Definitely be sure to order the pieces without the bones. I opted for them to give me whatever pieces and ended up with barely any meat. Overall, it was good, but not anything extraordinarily amazing. FYI - they are a cash only establishment. We were not aware but luckily there is a grocery store on the second floor of the building with an ATM machine.

It's located in the Aberdeen food court fairly close to the air train station and seating is available further down in the food court; it was pretty packed on a Saturday morning so you have to be ready to share or prepare to square up for a table. BBQ Pork: Perfectly crunchy skin and the pork is moist all the way through. Satisfying chew, but not overcooked at all. Perfect amount of sodium and zero funk that you can sometimes get with pork. The perfect, encyclopedic Chinese bbq pork. BBQ Duck: Super savory and fatty with a bit of sweetness on the skin. Again, super moist (almost juicy dare I say) all the way through. All are amazing, especially the steamed chicken!! I ordered this by mistake once and didn't realize something so simple could be so delicious. The ginger scallion sauce they provide with it is so good. Everything always tastes fresh. Prices are great too, especially with the US to CAN conversion. Highly recommended!

Every item we ordered was well prepared and true to the HK flavors you'd expect -- nothing overly salty or greasy, just balanced and satisfying. We tried half a BBQ duck and the three-meat combo with rice, and both were excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous, and I especially appreciated how generous they were with sauces -- a small detail that goes a long way. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the food temperature. Nothing came out piping hot, which left me wondering if the dishes had been sitting out for a bit -- or perhaps the restaurant just doesn't see as much volume during off-peak hours. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but hotter plates would elevate the experience. Pricing was very reasonable, especially with their ongoing specials, making it an easy choice for a casual meal that delivers on flavor and value. Despite the quiet setting, Yummy BBQ deserves more attention -- it's a solid spot for classic HK BBQ done right.

I didn't pick the cheapest choice on the menu and instead I ordered the roast duck leg as my dinner. The place is not very large, I guess they target to serve more take out orders. The staff members are welcoming. The vibe is very similar to those in HK. The roasted duck leg is very delicious and juicy. Though it's already close to the end of the business hours but it was still tasty with the plum sauce. Portion is large. Definitely I will try their BbQ pork and chicken in my next visit! I'm really satisfied!

We intended on getting the à la carte menu at first but realized that based on how many big eaters we had, it was more bang for our buck with the all you can eat menu. We chose the lowest tier of all you can eat and there were some people who preferred seafood; even if you upgraded to the highest tier the selection in our opinion, didn't get drastically better that it was "worth it". We had a party of six and was seated at a long table with a divider. When we got to our seat, the staff had placed the divider at exactly the table edges connecting the two stove but it was so squishy and uncomfortable for 6 people that we had to move the divider over a little. There's a time limit for all you can eat however with one stove and us not knowing that the vegetables came raw and in full foiled packages, it took a long time to grill anything. Our waitress came over many many times to remind us about the time limit and even then... we were well over our time limit even though we only put in two rounds of food. One stove shared between six people was awful. It's not like our stove could cook any faster even if the waitress rushed us. We were even ending the meal with s'mores and the waitress couldn't wait any longer and brought over the bill. We had to put down our s'mores stick to pay the bill so she could leave us alone to finish the meal... the restaurant was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no one waiting in the lobby. Did not appreciate the service here. Overall, food was greasy and not memorable (as I just tried a different grilled meat spot a few days prior). The portions were weird. Most of the dishes were severely under portioned so we made sure to up our portions for round two. Our time was up before we could even put in our final round three order. The staff also didn't respect some of the items. We put in ice cream on the first order as people wanted to use it as a grease palate cleanser and it was only when we followed up with the waitress did they say "oh we thought it should be served at the end of the meal instead since it's a dessert". Perhaps following the orders of what customers mark off would help with better customer service....

There are different tiers for the AYCE, we just selected the Classic ($36.99/person, Mon-Thur all day; Fri-Sat 11am-4pm). For the hot pot, we just go up to the open refrigeration and select our meats and vegetables, and place in the metal pot. We bring the metal pot to the bar/front counter and select a choice of soup. I tried the bone broth (which was just ok) and the tom yum (which was good). The hot pot would be delivered to our table when done. Note, for those we don't want the BBQ meats, they do have a "Magic Pot Special" (Mon-Fri, 11am-4pm) for $25.99/person. For the BBQ meats, we select from our choices and was brought to our table cooked and placed on the hot plate to keep warm. The chicken and beef were excellent and not dry. Salads and other cooked food at the front counter also included. There is free parking out front. The décor is from the old ACB restaurant which brought fond memories from 30 years ago! Restaurant was clean and the neon decoration added a touch of casual/fun atmosphere . Would definitely come back.

This recent trip to Vancouver, we went again and ordered a few new items to try. We loved their geoduck the last few times as appetizer, so this time we went ahead with the whole geoduck cooked two ways (ginger & scallion and wok-fried with hot pepper & pork). I have been eyeing their sour cabbage fish pot so we finally were able to order it this time. Then we added their garlic stir fried luffa. One thing I will say, the service has been consistently great in this restaurant. I remember the first time we came, years ago, hubby and I were so lost on what to order. The server handed us the menu and it felt like a book...quite intimidating. She patiently chatted with us about our likes and dislikes and helped us place an order. We've been back several times for many years and every one we encountered have been equally helpful and friendly. I don't know if it's because we like to come for early dinner, but the vibe always felt pretty chilled. Even towards the end of our meal that tables are starting to fill up, it was still a pretty nice atmosphere. I suspect tho that towards later in dinner service, the place might be hopping. Lastly, this time we had my mom with us and she is a tough critic when it comes to seafood and Chinese food. She was very happy with the dishes, so I know we'll continue to come back to The Fish Man when we are in town!

We found street parking, though there appeared to be a few spaces behind the restaurant if you're lucky enough to snag one. The ambiance is bright and lively, but people are definitely here for the food. Service was friendly and efficient, with servers, runners, and other staff constantly refilling water and clearing tables. We started with the scallops and vermicelli. They came with plenty of garlic, but the scallops were somewhat overcooked and tougher than I prefer--about three stars for that dish. The mala hotpot with lingcod was the star of the meal, with a wonderful balance of tongue-numbing spice, deep flavor, fish, and vegetables. The clams were equally delicious, served in a sweet and spicy sauce that was so good I kept stopping the staff from clearing the plate so I could spoon more of it over my white rice. The yu choy with garlic sauce had an excellent crunch and plenty of flavor, making it a great vegetable dish to balance the meal. The Coedo Yuzu beer paired beautifully with the spicy food and had a pleasantly sweet, citrusy taste. An excellent meal overall and absolutely worth the visit. Enjoy!
