Really busy on a Friday afternoon at 5:30pm. Make sure you make a reso! Appreciate the big parking lot with 2h free parking. Food came out fast and they were consistent with refilling our tea. Good balance between quality and price; would recommend :)

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!

What we ordered: Limited Gigantic snow crab 3lb with salted egg yolk sauce - highly recommended by staff Seafood fried rice Baked large beach oyster with four unique flavors. Highlight was definitely snow crab! Salted egg yolk sauce was great as usual, crab meat was so tender and sweet! I am glad to follow staff's advice. Presentation was good, too. Rice cake was chewy, soft and paired with sauce so well and so addictive. Seafood fried rice was also great! Clam was so juicy and delicious! prawn was nicely firm and very good. Ingredients were outstanding. And Baked beach oyster was also great item. Oyster paired with each unique different flavor(Forgot to ask what kinds of each flavor..), Oyster itself was very large and creamy. Highly recommend this item, too. Overall, our revisit to Fishman was another great experience. Restaurant was packed, No doubt this restaurant is very popular for long time.

Throughout our visit, the waitress directed almost all of her attention to my husband. She explained everything to him in detail while barely acknowledging me. I was left to read the menu and figure out what to order on my own. I also noticed the same behavior at other tables. She spoke primarily to the men while largely ignoring the women. Even after I placed the entire order for our table, she continued checking only with my husband about everything we needed. When it came to drinks, after the two men had placed their orders, she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything before walking away, as if I were invisible. At the end of the meal, after I paid the bill, she turned to my husband, smiled only at him, and completely ignored me. It was extremely impolite and made me feel disrespected. The food was good, but the service was the worst part of the experience. Based on how I was treated, it felt discriminatory. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with equal respect.

We arrived in time for our reservation but there was no one at the front. We waited for a few minutes for someone to notice we were there, and were immediately seated. It's a nice looking place - very classic whites, and feels like a fine dining restaurant. We decided to try the following: - Beef Carpaccio: Good. Maybe a bit light on the meat, as it was buried by the arugula and pickled shallots, so seemed unbalanced, but overall tasted great - Seafood Linguini: Mixed. Linguini was good. Scallops were really good and tender. Mussels were tiny. Red snapper was tough and dry. As a dish, it was OK, but could be better. Seafood is seasonal, so I'd think they would be better off rotating what seafood is used. - LuLu Island: OK. Same issue as the linguine. Prawns were fine. Mussels tiny. Red snapper wasn't enjoyable. Broth had flavour, but didn't come out very hot. Service was pleasant but slow. I only saw one server and one busser, so not enough staff to handle 6 or 7 tables they had. Starter came n reasonable time, but main dishes seemed to take over 20min. Took awhile to get our plates cleared, and probably 15+ minutes to get the bill. Overall, it was OK. Food was OK, but not special. Service was nice enough, but couldn't keep up with timing. Glad I got to try it, but not special enough to go back.

We tried four different fish (sablefish, halibut, salmon, and char) and each was cooked really well with slight variations that made them stand out. Oysters were a nice bonus at $1.50 each with entrées. Service was excellent--our waiter kept things light with jokes and even brought me dessert when he found out it was my birthday. Overall, a solid seafood dinner and good value.

Solid seafood place near Coquitlam Centre…read more Parking is available in the lot in front of the building. The place looks nice and modern. Comfortable cushy chairs, and wooden trim. Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

Mushroom soup: not much flavour and a few leathery fried mushrooms at the bottom Yam salad with kale and barley: was fresh and colourful but needed some acid to liven it up. After four bites I got bored. Rice balls: golden brown and bite size with a side of tomato sauce with shredded onions and carrots. Rice was overcooked and mushy. Tomato with pancetta spaghetti: here is where the fusion aspect misses because I didn't like cured ham flavour of the pancetta. Service was good, very quick. Ambiance is clean but I was also close a woman with too much perfume and every time the door opened that cloying smell overwhelmed me.

The restaurant was clean, well set up, and nicely lighted. The service was great. Our server was friendly, and the food came out quickly. Now into the food: Honey Garlic Chicken Wings 2.5/5. They were ok but nothing special. I feel like I could have similar wings buying it frozen from the grocery store and at $2.50/wing. I cant justify that. Seafood Pasta 3/5. For something that was almost $30 I expected more. The amount and size of seafood was fine but I had expected more flavour like grilled prawns or seared scallops. Seems like it was all poached so there was no colour and everything was the same texture, colour, and flavour. It was cooked well and tender, but for the price, I would have liked some crust on my scallops and I could not taste the lobster in the sauce. Overall, it was seasoned well and still tasted good. Calabrese Salami Pizza 3.5/5 Crust was crispy and thin. Good amount of salami. Could have used more olives. The oven made the salami nicely crisp on the edges. However, there was no basil as noted on the menu. Just a little bit of basil oil drizzled on the center. Overall, if you want a comfortable place to sit and catch up with friends, this is a good place for it. The food while okay, could use some improvement.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.
