I had a wonderful evening at the Richmond location. The Steak and Fois Gras, was superb. Along with the popular Crab and Shrimp Linguini and Fois Gras rice bowl we were pleasantly surprised. Not typical "Bar" food! It's a hard to find hole in the wall, the main entrance is deep within the building and the street signage is hard to spot. But is well worth your effort to stay in the hunt to find this establishment. Best of all was the service. Thomas was more than our knowledgeable server. He was our expert and patiently guided our group to our selection out of the many tantalizing options on the menu. His attention to excellence is a model that I hope that all restaurant staff would aspire to. I will keep this visit as one of the finest dining experiences I've had in Vancouver. Go check it out! We heard a lot of good things about Hestia's dine out menu, which is $48 for three courses. We didn't get to try them during the dine-out period. However, they extended the dine out period till Feb 28, so we took the chance. The restaurant is tucked inside a quiet mall. It is dark with walls decorated with wine bottles and quirky paintings. I chose their Bone Marrow + wagyu Tartare for starter, Crab + Prawn Rigatoni for main, and smoked caramel cheesecake for dessert. The starter and dessert were alright, not particularly impressive. The Crab + Prawn Rigatoni was delicious. There was a decent amount of crab meat and prawns. The sauce was supposed to be salted duck yolk cream, but it didn't taste like salted duck yolk at all to me. However, it was still pretty good. It was creamy and rich, and went well with the seafood and pasta. The portion was generous and the pasta became a bit too salty in the last few bites. Two of my friends ordered the 2-scope ice-cream for dessert and the server let us know early on that the flavors would come randomly (there were 4 flavors on the menu). One of my friends asked if she could get peach cream yogurt for both scoops. The server was pretty helpful and said she'll see what she can do but no guarantee. While we had our main course, we saw other tables all had chocolate ice-cream + peach cream yogurt as dessert so we figured they were the two flavors of the day. At the end, the server did give my friend two scoops of peach cream yogurt. However, my other friend got two scoops of chocolate ice-cream instead of both flavors! We appreciated that the server tried her best to satisfy one of us' request! But it was by sacrificing the other's interest! My other friend didn't really mind but it was pretty hilarious! This place is a pass for me. I will caveat that we were a large 20 person birthday group, but the food was mostly lukewarm at best. Not just my dishes, I asked around and about half of the others' dishes were lukewarm as well. Deposit required for large groups and no split bills which is totally understandable. FYI no balloons allowed but they're okay to serve cake. PEI New York Striploin 10oz horseradish butter + fried negi ($38) Not a super great cut, difficult to chew. Gravy tastes like the powdered version off the shelf. Wish it was hotter when served. Slow Braised Beef Cheek + Foie Gras mashed potato + grilled broccolini + triple pepper cream ($49) Mashed potatoes were hot, yay! Everything else not so much. 2 pieces of foie gras. Beef cheek was quite tender. Broccolini triple pepper jus + pecan ($14) Slightly colder than lukewarm, with the same powdered gravy. I liked the pecan though. Service was okay, they served some of the cocktails all on one side, and I had to distribute down the table to find the owner of the drink. Staff don't know who ordered what, which I was a little surprised. Decor is dimly lit, trying to go for a chic sophisticated look. Came in Saturday night at 8pm with no reservation and were seated right away. We started out with the wagyu carpaccio and crab salad. I felt the crab salad needed a bit of salt or extra flavor and was just ok. The wagyu carpaccio was nothing special as well. My highlights were the entrees. The bone marrow bowl was perfect and the slow braised meat fell off the bone and was soo succulent. The rice crisped up on the hot bowl also. The prawns in the linguine were cooked perfectly and the sauce didn't overpower the flavor of the crab. 2 appetizers and 2 entrees were the perfect amount of food for 3 people to share. This is our second time here . Came in to Celebrated my son's advance bday by having a TOMAHAWK for dinner . We were. Family of 5 , we ordered few more items from the menu, like the lobster and prawn pasta, arugula salad , broccolini , crème garlic prawns and carpaccio and a couple of drinks from the bar. Fantastic ambiance, the decor and vibe was like an upscale Yaletown spot but in downtown Richmond. We had the truffle fries, crispy and flavorful. The bone marrow was seasoned nicely and served with focaccia. The prawn and scallop risotto was done well, the scallops were perfectly cooked and a healthy portion. Love the Chinese fusion Italian flavor! Everything was beyond my expectations including the service by a young server named Ethan! Came here on Friday night and we had reservations. Though the rule was 1.5 hr seating time, we got to stay for 2.5 hrs. The virgin ceasar was spicy but really good! My fave dish was the linguini with clams. Must try!! The atmostphere does not match the food. It looks like a warehouse but with higher end food. In the middle on the tables sits a giant metal egg holding culterly. It's quite tacky and doesn't match the vibe. I got the risotto with crab and scallops. The scallops were done perfectly, but the risotto lacked any flavor. Scallops normally don't have much flavor itself, so it should be paired with something with more flavor - citrusy, buttery, garlicky, salty, etc. Server rarely came around to fill up the water. Food is alright, reasonable price for quality and quantity but for a place that talks about leading with ingredients, their ingredients did not stand out to me. We ordered two drinks: fluffy white and peach flamingo. Drinks were fine, but the lychee for the fluffy white was too strong for the more delicate elderflower to come through. We ordered the Manila clams + linguine, lamb shank, and mushroom risotto with scallops and a prawn. Risotto was delicious, truffle and mushroom flavours were good and texture of the risotto was solid without being mushy. Lamb shank wasn't bad, though the broccolini on the side was fibrous. Clams were alright, again the quality of ingredients wasn't what carried the dish, but the flavours were good and there was a good amount of pasta. Finished off with the cheesecake which was crumbly, not my favourite. Overall food was alright, decent value for a place like this. Vibes are kind of funny, it feels like it should be quite intimate and then the Property Brothers are playing on a huge flatscreen next to your table... waitstaff are all very kind and attentive! read more

Whenever I'm in the mood for a cute little date night out, I always head to Vancouver because Richmond doesn't have cute little date night restaurants like Vancouver but this one definitely makes the list~ It's a very sexy, moody, intimate vibe but they have space for large groups too What we ordered: butter garlic prawns bone marrow duck crown manila clam linguine foie gras + steak beach under lavender haze toast old fashioned The flavours are quite sophisticated and definitely a western/Chinese fusion. The garlic butter prawns really blew me away and cannot be missed. It comes with their house bread which is also amazing. I'm also a big fan of the foie groi + steak. As for the drinks, they were okay. I heard from a friend that the old fashioned comes with a chicken bite on the side and I confirmed this on the menu but they often run out. The service was amazing, everyone was super nice. They also hold live music nights on Fridays so I'll definitely have to check that out. With an intel from IG and upon reading the review of a trusted person, i told myself i had to partake of the soft opening of Hestia in Richmond Bc. This is another example of looks can be deceiving. Very unassuming from the outside, but once you step inside, it's like being transferred to a dining place in yaletown with high ceilings. Nice dim lighting with soft table lights. Big bar with seating area. For the highlights, we ordered the Bone Marrow, crab and prawn linguine, and the steak and foie gras with mashed and brocollini. The bone marrow was amazing. Perfectly seasoned and torched. The gelatinous texture of the marrow paired perfectly with the garlic focaccia. 4 big generous portions sprinkled with carmelized onions. Next up is the prawn and seafood linguine. Generous portions of real crab and big prawns adorned this dish and decorated with flakes of grano Padano cheese. Portions were more than enough for one. Pasta was al dente. It's so fresh that you can taste the sea right off the dish. Lastly was the steak with foie gras. Perfectly seared and cooked to order. 2 portions of Foie gras complimented the dish well. Veggies were cooked well and meat was succulent and juicy. Melt in your mouth goodness. They had no dessert menu being a soft opening only....but they had an extensive drinks and cocktail selections. Overall, we had a very good experience. Service was omni present. Everyone wanted to please and serve and took the time to explain things. Got a 20% discount too coz if the soft opening. We decided to try something new in Richmond for a casual fine dining experience and came to Hestia Kitchen Bar. Overall the space was nice and the service was good. We had the truffle burger which was very delicious and juicy. The cooked it to medium which was a nice touch. Also had the fried chicken which was amazing. Super crunchy in the outside and tender in the middle. I would be coming back just for this dish. Servers weren't too attentive until we finished the first entree at which point several descended upon us to clear up the table. I got the drink which look pretty but tasted super basic wasn't even mixed properly. Prawns were undercooked, they took it off the bill. The restaurant features top quality ingredients at a reasonable price point. *Must try* Bone Marrow (5/5) - $24 Taste: Really savoury flavours that brought out the creaminess and richness of the bone marrow with a hint of chili spice. Would recommend trying this, paired well with the focaccia. Portion Size: 3 pieces of large bone marrow Spicy Salmon Tartare (3/5) - $18 Taste: The salmon tartar had subtle hints of sweetness to it (almost like gochujang?), paired with wontons crisps! Yummy, but nothing to rave home about. I found this restaurant on Open Table while looking around for a restaurant to make reservations for a birthday. The menu looked pretty good so I booked the restaurant for same day reservations. We were seated right away. Menus and water were dropped off. Cutlery was hidden under a silver coloured egg display on the table. We ordered the bone marrow to share. We also ordered scallop risotto, and crab and prawn linguini as our mains. The food all showed up right away. The bone marrow was rich and tasty. However, by the time I got to the risotto, it was cold. I would recommend telling the staff to deliver the mains once the appetizers were finished. The risotto had perfectly cooked scallops and a good helping of crab. There was the odd piece of squash mixed into the risotto that I did not really care for, but it was different. I took a bit of the linguini and it was also tasty but cold. We finished off the meal with a cheesecake. It was their only dessert option. The homemade blueberry sauce was delicious. The cheesecake was smooth and dense. We parked on the plaza and it was a bit confusing finding the entrance but we managed to make our way there. The restaurant ambience was nice. It was a cross between a fine dining restaurant and a sports bar. Some people might not enjoy this bit of an identity mix. However, I did not mind. I did mind that the restrooms are the same ones shared with the whole building and it needed some TLC. It was also a very dated looking restroom. Overall, we did enjoy our meal. This was going to be one of my go to places after I tried it for the first time, but unfortunately during my second visit I realized they've upped their prices and changed the way they make their dishes. Now this is just another mediocre "fancy" restaurant with high prices, and for the price point there's definitely better options out there. We were so looking forward to coming here for their Dine Out Vancouver event. When we arrived we were told that seating was only for 1 1/2 hour but we thought it would be fine since we don't typically like to linger. The first 2 courses were great. We really enjoyed the appetizers: prawns and fried chicken. Although my party typically tries to order dinner entrees so that we can try a variation of selection, but the bone marrow caught all our eyes and we couldn't resist to order it..... it didn't disappoint. Halfway through our entrees, the server came by several time to ask if we were ready for our dessert.... Next came the desserts .... Unfortunately the tiramisu missed the mark. Not more than a couple of bites into the dessert, the server came by with the bill. I indicated we did't request for the bill and that we were still eating our desserts.... That was a little over an hour since we were seated. We were still eating and after a few more minutes, someone came by again to ask if we were ready for the bill ... again we said no. Minutes later the same server came by to say we have a little more than 10 minutes before they needed the table back. By this time, we were so annoyed by the service, that we said fine.... We'll pay. As we were ready to leave one of the people in our party left to go to the washroom... when he returned, he told us that he saw one of the kitchen worker in the washroom left without washing his hands .... Yuk! Sure hope he washed them when he got back to the kitchen. Needless to say, we left disgusted and also noticed no one was waiting.... So why the urgency of having us leave? Although the atmosphere was good when we first arrived, I was disappointed when we left. Truly the unfortunate, aside from dessert, the food was good but the service was awful. The quality of ingredients was good but the food lacked a certain amount of finesse to make it exceptional and the service was lacking at times. We were told we would get 10 percent off our bill due to ordering a certain dish but then it wasn't taken off the bill. The scallop risotto needed salt and acid. The best dish was the grilled abalone but even that could have been improved by not serving it on a cold puree. The demi glace that came with it along with the perfect grilling was very nice. The meat was cooked to the right temp. The foie gras with my steak was a smaller piece but good. The grilled broccolini was very good. They are recently opened so hopefully the service will improve. We had to wait to order, dishes came out piece meal rather than starters coming out together, same for drinks, we had wait to get the check and had to ask several times for it. I think both the kitchen and the servicing staff needs to work on their timing issues. We found the space to be odd with 4 massive TV playing poker, baseball and other sports in a space that looked more fine dining and it was not the kind of "casual" that I enjoy. The space was also pretty dark although each table had a tiny lamp on it. The did the menu on a tablet which meant only one person could see it. I think they should change to a paper menu. Also it is deep in Richmond. I heard there is a Vancouver location as well and as I live in Vancouver proper if I were to go again it would be there. read more

I asked them to change for us .. But our server told us, Their promotion until yesterday (November, 25th) But their website Didn't mention about it. Only can give us happy hour deal, not 50% off for second cocktail. No wonder not much customers there.. Only 3 tables of customers, Not much service too... I ordered delivery from here and I have a few things to say firstly I ordered their signature crabmeat egg yolk linguine, it was okay not great but okay, I disliked that there were a bunch of small crab meat shells I would find myself biting into, another thing I wish there was a option to just add more of a topping on the side like bone marrow or foie gras, right now you can only add extra if you order the foie gras rice bowls or the bone marrow rice bowls.
