I chose Golden eagle because the food seemed a bit more authentic from the pictures. I was not disappointed. Sophie is super friendly, very professional, and one seems at home upon arrival. The ambiance is quaint, clean, and open. Portions are generous, food quality is excellent. I had to drive out here as it was a half way point to meet a friend and was unfamiliar with the area, this restaurant would be my go to upon any return trip. Ahhh...finally a good Chinese restaurant in Tracy! No more driving out of town for decent Chinese food! After reading the recent positive reviews of the new management, we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! First, Sophie, the new owner is so nice, she is very friendly and welcoming. And the food was wonderful! The mongolian beef had great flavor and best of all they didn't skimp on the heat, that's what the dish is all about. We also ordered sweet & sour chicken which was not heavy on the batter and didn't have that overly artificial deep red sauce color. The wor won ton soup was devoured by our kids. For the few dishes we tried, we were satisfied and will be coming back to try more off the menu. read more

The food is always great, the only thing I would comment on is sometimes the spice levels are different in the spicier stuff and we'd like to have it be more consistent. Last summer I stopped in and grabbed a menu from the new owners. This place has been a staple downtown for over 30 years but I wasn't a fan of dining in. I have only eaten here about 3 times in the last 10 years so it was time to give it a try. After a few days of turkey and Thanksgiving left overs and with friends visiting Saturday evening I was ready to eat something I didn't have to prepare. I found the menu in my junk drawer while my husband continued to look for another take out menu. I called and confirmed they would deliver to my address first then placed my order for 4 adults and 4 hungry kids. We ordered pot stickers, egg rolls, fried rice, chow mien, beef chow fun and beef in lobster sauce and it arrived in less then 30 minutes. Everyone loved it, some grabbed seconds, and the best part is it was pretty inexpensive. I think we have a new Chinese restaurant we will be ordering from. The fact the deliver now is huge! I recommend their beef chow fun (tender slices of beef with a thick wide noddle). read more

We went to the Tracy Wine Stroll and we came upon this restaurant. The owner Sophie invited us in. We were looking for something to eat for dinner. We had never been there. Been searching for a Chinese place, since we moved to Tracy. This is the best so far! We love Honey Walnut Prawns and Golden Eagles are great. NOT greasy at all! We ordered cheese puffs, bbq pork fried rice, and the owner brought us out a platter of Orange Chicken for us to try. It was awesome! Very reasonably priced and friendly. I don't really see how this place stays in business...food had no flavor what so ever! Ordered some walnut prawns ( a family favorite) and it was much smaller than an order you would get at any other restaurant. I will never eat here again. This place has amazing chinese food!! Havent had authentic chinese food in many years. The waiter (David) was great, very considerate of the time we waited, and also was genuinely concerned with our overall. We ordered sweet and sour soup, pork fried rice, egg rolls. and a number A. My wife is very picky and asked to substitute an item (anywhere else they would have said NO!) but David said sure no problem. As we were leaving my wife grabbed a menu and asked if they did to go orders... David say yes, in fact we almost reccomend that, because they cook everything when you order it. This place is OK. I only give it three stars for the absolutely stellar customer service you get here. The waiter was very attentive and made a connection with us, it's the only reason we came back a second time. We went here because Mei Mei was under construction, and still wanted some Chinese food. Again, service was great, food was a little slow to get to us but there was a constant stream of people picking up to-go orders and there was a large crowd at a table so it was understandable. Unfortunately that's where the stars stop climbing, the food itself looked good, was hot and fresh, but utterly bland and tasteless. I picked out the chicken from the chow mien and the fried rice to give it a taste and it tasted, like chicken. Completely unseasoned, unsalted, chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was the same, they cook unseasoned chicken and put some yummy sweet and sour on it, but the chicken itself was just bland. We were really hungry and finished everything, it's not like it was inedible just boring. The eggrolls were nothing stellar, at least more flavor than the chicken. The hot and sour soup was pretty good though. We figured maybe it was an off day and gave them another try a week later and the food came out much quicker, but it was just the same plain chicken as the week before. A little bit of salt goes a long way! I hate giving places which such great service a poor rating, but I also hate eating flavorless food. read more

The egg rolls are delicious! I never had good egg rolls in this country, those are like the Chinese egg rolls made in my country. The noodles were flavor full and the mongolian beef spicy good. Rude service. Came out of the rain with 3 small children and sat down. Unattended while hostess looked at pictures on another patrons phone. Discussed getting food to go with my wife. When we decided to get food to go because our littlest wasn't feeling well we were asked to leave the table and stand at the counter to order. There were no customers sitting at tables at this point. Golden Eagle is on par, if not better than, Mandrin Villa. The restaurant itself is something of a 40's deco throwback (which has its own appeal, if that's your thing, I like it personally). If you want a pretty dinning room, go elsewhere. The staff doesn't know much english, but that doesn't get in the way, extremely friendly and very generous to guests. Understand that the food is simple... the way it should be. They don't drench everything in sauces. If you like greasy, soupy food go elsewhere, if you like it simple and tasty as Chinese cooking should be, Golden Eagle all the way. The menu is a little slim on some true Chinese classics (its a typical Americanized menu) but if you ask they'll make anything you want. read more

So far, being new to Tracy...finding asian cuisine that is good has been pretty difficult. I have to say, Golden Eagle has definitely won my vote for one of Tracy's best chinese food. The general chicken, crispy even with the sauce on it, EXACTLY the way it should be. The chow fun, flavorful and plenty of it! And not to mention the owners, Sophia was so awesome! She was soooo polite and thanked me over and over for my order. She was so pleasant to speak with! She has excellent customer service skills which is a HUGE plus in my book! After being extremely disappointed with the customer service we received at Mei Mei on 11th street, we were pleased to have someone like Sophie! The food was delivered in a timely manner and it was delicious! This restaurant is under new management and wow -- do they do their restaurant proud. Sophie is extremely friendly, personable, and shines as the initial face of the place. Her husband is an excellent cook. We walked in and ordered take-out. You must order the Tangerine Chicken! It is to die for. We shared our dinner with friends and it was the first item to disappear from the container! We also had vegetable egg fou yung...it's not on the menu, but they readily prepared it for us! Pot Stickers were great; eggplant w/garlic sauce was great; also had Mongolian Beef Chow Mein...delicious. Ma Po Tofu was good. Our friends are going there next week and taking their friends because the food was so good! We will definitely be back. I love the food here! We came in last night and ordered the delicious House Wonton Soup, house chow mein, steamed rice, potstickers (with vinegar, soy sauce, and chili), orange chicken, and broccoli beef. It was sooo good! My picky little eater ate everything on his plate! Service was fast also which is important for us since we have 3 young kiddos. By the way, this isn't our first time eating here. We've order many times and came in a few other times. The only downside is the small portions. I wish they were a bit bigger! But, will continue being a customer since the food is good. Great for takeout!! Have never dined in here, but the inside is SO clean and well maintained. The outside is a bit deceiving, not the best looking, but the inside, food, and service make up for that. We have made this our family's regular go-to for Chinese food in Tracy. My son loves the plain garlic chicken or the foil chicken with white rice. My husband and I have tried a lot of the other entrees, and have not been disappointed yet. The prices are very reasonable. The optional delivery is nice to have. One of the best options they have is for your food to be breaded and deep fried, or you can opt for the pan saute with no breading and less oil. The staff are very friendly and attentive.
