I went ahead and served me and my hubby a plate we ordered Calamari Orange chicken Pad Thai Jasmine rice This food was not tasteful as I thought it would be. The pad Thai had this weird taste to it like if it's been sitting in the plastic container it came in for a while. The calamari was soggy and had no flavor and the orange chicken was alright all in all this definitely did not satisfy my hunger we ended up have a bad stomach ache. What did it for me here was the service. I wish my Prego brain could remember her name, but our server was the sweetest. She was good about checking in with us and even had them bring us more broth for our soup leftovers to take home. We had zero issues with the food, however I think I've set the bar high for Thai food these days. Ive tried every Thai restaurant in town and a number over the hill. The pad see ew needed a LOT more flavoring, it was very bland with a hint of spice. My friends got the pad thai and fried rice. Pad thai needed more flavor and was dry, and the fried rice was decent, had a good texture and was not overcooked but still lacking flavor. Thai tea was good, they have the little circle ice here which is nice. Overall, not happy with the lack of flavor and will not be coming back here unfortunately. We came to lunch here on Monday because most of the restaurants in downtown closed on Monday and we wanted outdoor seating since it was a nice spring day. The inside atmosphere was not desirable compared to other thai restaurant nearby. They have different menu than tracy thai so it's good for people who want something different to come here. I was disappointed that they don't have papaya salad on the menu. Never been to a thai restaurant which doesn't have papaya salad. Their menu is smaller and doesn't have much varieties of thai dishes. Their pad thai and pad see ew was ok. Compared to most of the thai restaurants we've been to, it fell short. It has been a couple years since I have been to the place, but I have always liked it, so I thought it would be a great option for lunch today. My office ordered a couple dishes to go. I had the shrimp pad thai with added beef and medium spicy. The whole dish came drenched in hot sauce. It was unenjoyable and tasted on par to the spicy korean noodle challenge. The color of the dish was so red, it looked like spaghetti. I think the restaurant changed owners? Either way, it was horrible and I don't know if this place deserves a second chance. A semi-decent amount of bell pepper (red and green small chunks), onion (same) and potatoes (large chunks). Spicy level is non-existent, especially compared to Indian "Medium". Calling them lazy, yelling "If you can't work, don't come back tomorrow." I was blazing hot inside, don't believe AC was working. The kitchen is in full view. We first found this place about 20 years ago when we first started golf lessons and played at a cheap little course just outside Tracy. We would play 9 holes and break for lunch here at Thai Cafe and go back to finish the other 9 holes. We've come back from time to time whenever we find ourselves in the area during any of the meal hours. The last time was probably 5+ years ago. The menu is still the same as is the food quality and even some of the staff remains unchanged. The interior decor has be improved but still recognizable. The exterior has had some refinements added to make it a little more inviting from the outside. While the menu is fairly extensive, it's really hard to not have our favorite - Pad Thai. It's still the same and we use this version of this famous dish as the 'Gold Standard' by which we rate all other versions of this famous dish. It's slightly 'wetter' than most Pad Thais and it has a nice little picy kick to it. The flavor is complex - sweet, sightly salty, a touch of heat with a nice crunch to the fresh veggies and the right amount of 'soft' to the noodles. Normally, we would have their signature Kai Salad but I had a yen for Fried Chicken Wings so I succumbed to that yearning. They were quite good but the Pad Thai remains our "go to dish!"
