It's Golden Corral, so everything you've heard is probably either extremely true, or grossly exaggerated. I feel that if you arrive in the 5 o'clock hour, dinner is probably reasonably fresh, though fighting the crowd can be problematic. We went there for my birthday dinner because they are, in essence, the most reasonably priced steak house in town. Is it the best steak you've ever had? Maybe. Maybe not. But the perk is, for the price, you can go back for another steak, and another, and honestly, as many as you want. It's not a world class steak, but it's far from terrible. Now there's a few mainstays for me, like the bourbon chicken, the fried chicken, and the rolls, and the pizza is okay. I am kind of a picky eater, so most of the buffet is actually largely ignored by me. Also, if there are too many kids running around putting their paws on everything, I tend to be really choosy about what I'm grabbing. Thank God they had the attack of conscience to discontinue the chocolate fountain. In a post pandemic world, it's probably for the best. On this particular visit, our server was absolutely fantastic! Food was okay, yes I came on Mother's Day and I already knew it was going to be packed. Long lines and long wait time. One of the waitresses was rude the entire time, I believe her name was Young. She assumed me and my family spoke Spanish (I know Spanish) and kept telling us to hurry up and leave because we weren't welcome. She did this twice. The food was awesome. For two people, it was $29, not bad. We got a To Go plate, they weigh it, $8.99 a pound plus tax, came out to $32. The only issue I had was the fact that Golden Corral has taco meat and cheese, but no tortillas. There were tortilla chips available, so I think it was for if you wanted to make nachos. The food is mostly Southern Style, the greens, hush puppies, black eyed peas were good. I went in to get a to go plate. I had not been to that location in a long while. The only thing that tasted ok was the Black-eyed peas. First of all, stuffing is not the same as cornbread dressing. There was no flavor to the mac an cheese. I came home and added cheese and pepper; still not good. the pot roast was chewy with no flavor, and the catfish fillet was of a cheaper quality. what can I say, it's a buffet with a lot of traffic. They have a huge variety of food - anything you want really - but it is bland and to me everything tastes the same. They have good desserts though and seem fresh. If you are in a hurry, have a big appetite and not really particular about quality, this is a great place for you. Golden Corral offers a free meal to Veterans on Veteran's Day each year which I think is a great service and shows great appreciation. We only went here the one time. read more

Given some of the reviews I've read I think this Golden Corral location gets some unfair criticism. When considering eating at Golden Corral you should already know and accept that you're not getting top-grade food. And as is the nature of any buffet some food may sit out longer than others. But this Golden Corral isn't particularly better or worse than any other. The quality of the food seems reasonably consistent with other outlets in the chain. Our server, Lisa, was a step ahead of any requests for refills and the rest of the staff seemed polite and welcoming. Good for them. As for the food, the baked fish was a touch less flavorful than I've had at other locations. And the bourbon chicken was a bit overcooked but still very tasty. Anyone who knows my family knows we love Golden Corral (or GC as we call it). It is my boys favorite place to eat. However, this particular location sucks. On Thursday, April 28th we went to this location with other family members to celebrate my nephews 6th birthday. Now I do realize that handling a large group with a lot of children 7 and under can be difficult, but or waitress had an attitude as if we were a bother from the moment we sat down. She smiled and all, but rarely came by to remove plates or check on us. The food here was garbage. It was either over cooked, cold, or had little flavor. My sister-in-law had ribs that weren't cut properly. The grill man gave her two ribs together that looked like something from the Flintstones. Speaking of the grill man...he had an awful attitude. First I asked how long before some more steak would be ready he rudely stated that he had steak ready. The steak he spoke of was so crispy looking you just knew it was burnt. When I went back to get a medium rare steak with an attitude I was asked "Are you sure" and had the steak slammed on my plate. For a medium rare piece of steak it was very tough and had absolutely no flavor. And I realize that when its about time to close staff members like to get out on time to go home, but they shouldn't make customers feel rushed at all. Unless absolutely necessary we will not go to this location. Every time we are disappointed because of the food and attitudes. Tillman's Corner on Halls Mill Rd will be our choice. read more

Golden Corral seems to have a management problem. Why else would a business with such potential offer so little in food quality and service. And, it's not cheap. For around the same amount we spent at this Golden Corral we could have dined at an Outback Steak Restaurant and surely would have had a better experience. Anyway, the only food I tried that deserved a compliment was their fried chicken. I should have stuck with the chicken only. Food fresh out of a deep fryer is safe from a bout with the heebee-geebees. The waitress serving our area never offered anything. I normally tip 20 plus percent, even at GC. Came back the second week in a row to try their prime rib. Last week it was way too done. I love prime rib but it needs to be bloody rare. Steve, the manager hooked us up with three complementary dinners w/drinks to give them another try! Long story short we are here and it is much better today. Not bloody but rare enough. I'm sorry to say that I work at this restaurant. I started earlier this year asking for experience. They started me on day one, no training, just said get out there and go. Mind you I've never worked a day in the food business and this was made a statement to the owner. I would never pay for this food, the work area is gross and the management staff is bar none the worst you will come across. From laughing at your complaints to just plain not caring about the customer attitude, it has been the grossest experience of my life. Now the people I work with, the few that I can actually say want to learn, we can not overwhelm the ones that just come to make money... So all in all the best experience of my job is the free food, yet they take 30 minutes out of my paycheck so I suppose it's not that free. I took my best friend there for lunch like I have several times before but after about 5 minutes we determined we would never return. We sat down and our waiter brought out drinks, he was very friendly and was smiling every time we saw him. But as we were eating our first few bites my best friend noticed a roach crawling on the wall of the booth behind us. She immediatly dropped her fork and told me she wanted to leave. I called the waiter over and told him about the roach in which case he immediately went to tell his manager. He came back with the message, "We are due for extermination in three days" which were the words his manager sent him to tell us. She didn't even bother to walk over herself. The waiter asked if there was anything he could do for us in which we said no because we both knew there want much he could do. On our way out the door we requested to see the manager. She walked up looking very annoyed and I told her about the roach. She said the same thing the waiter did and then stood there. She did not offer us our money back for the food we didn't eat or anything. She also showed no sign of telling the couple sitting behind us about the bug in their booth. I was extremely disappointed. I then told her I felt she needed to in which she said she would but when we walked out we saw her go right back to what she was doing. GC has always been my go to because of the food variety but we won't be going back to this one ever again. Very disappointed. read more

Well we went at 2pm for prime rib and it didn't start until 4 so we left and went to Costco. Nowhere online or the tv commercial does it say 4pm. It says 'weekend'. Whatever. We went back at 4:30 and couldn't get a piece of rare prime rib to save our lives. Threw out 2 plates before flagging down Steve, the manager. We spent $50 on three with only water and we drive across state lines because my aunt wanted to go there. Pretty disappointing. We ordered rare steak and the cook said they will announce overhead when the rare stuff comes out. Now I will say I got a decent little steak but my moms and Aunts well just too cooked. After speaking to the manager (who very cool btw) he was pissed about the prime rib and said he would get a rare one out. One hour and 15 minutes later a somewhat decent rib came out but we were over it. AND we heard the first announcement for rare 65 minutes after we got there. I did get a piece to sample at the end and it was much better, very tender but we were all full so that sucked. Everything else was pretty good and the place was super busy so there was little chance of getting something cold. The crowd does have its benefits lol. Steve was nice enough to comp us 3 meals to come back and threw in drinks as well. We may try this again next week. What we were told is the Mobile crowd for the most part wants everything cooked well done and they throw the damn meat back in the oven because people complain. My question is this. Prime rib is supposed to be rare- not well done. If you don't like it then don't frickin eat it. Oh well... I'm from Cali and I'm still trying to get used to the South. Thank you to Steve.
