This store is very unorganized. We ordered a meal and several items were missing so my wife called the manager on duty. She assured us that the next time we come up there, being that we lived several miles from that location, she would make it right. We come back up to the same store several days later being that it was just chicken tenders, we told the young manager on duty and she questioned us as though we were lying over chicken tenders and trying to get a free meal. No, it is the principle of the whole thing. I paid for something and didn't receive it. They are very slow and inexperienced at this location too so don't have anywhere urgent to go because you will be late. The tofu are fried to perfection, sprinkled with sesame seeds & greatly drowned in brown sauce. This neighborhood Chinese restaurant is in a very tight corner of a strip mall. I decided to try them for an early dinner while on business in Houston after reading the Yelp reviews. I was greed right away by a waitress who was polite with a nice smile on her face. Refreshing to see that. I ordered a crispy chicken egg roll and sesame shrimp with white rice. The egg roll came out quickly and was nice and crisp with great flavor. My sesame shrimp followed soon there after and was equally good. Portions were huge (i.e., Texas sized). More than a dozen jumbo shrimp battered and fried with a tangy sweet and sour like flavor. I gave up on the rice since I was getting full and still struggled to finish the shrimp. There's not many Chinese food restaurants that I trust but this is definitely will be one that I go back to. First off our waitress was Phoebe, and she was very nice and attentive, and didn't make us feel rushed at all. They offer free soup with your order, so naturally I got wonton. The broth was so flavorful and warm and the dumpling was tender and had the slights taste of beer which was yummy. I ordered the tangerine chicken lunch special which was 6.75 and worth way more than that. Very flavorful and spicy, but not to spicy. Now I have to talk about the egg roll. Most Chinese food places give small greasy egg rolls. Not this place. The egg roll was huge and not shiny from grease. It was crunchy and delicious. It even had some nice peppery flavor. They had 2 small 2" pieces of fish, no traditional cucumber tobiko or anything else. The rice didn't even cover paper, it was hollow half way thru and skinny. Basically your paying normal prices for half the roll. When I asked him to make it right he he got pissy with me. Sorry I don't need attitude because you cannot make proper sushi. Looks can be deceiving. In the case of Golden Bowl, the shabby outside is very deceiving. Inside was very chic, modern and clean space. Both the host and the waitress were nice enough but very aloof. There was only one other group dining, so we were seated and got our drinks quickly. The menu has all usual Chinese restaurant offerings, as well as sushi and a customizable stir fry plate. My husband and I both ordered a crispy chicken egg roll to start, and we're very impressed. The egg roll was large, and freshly cooked and perfectly crunchy, and came with a homemade sweet and sour sauce. Next, I ordered the beef with broccoli and my husband had the golden bowl lo mein. The portions for both were huge, and we both left full and happy. I was satisfied with my dish, but hubby's one critique was that his food was slightly under seasoned, but easily cured with a little soy sauce and srirracha. We guessed they dial back the seasoning for the white people (har har) but everything was made as we ordered it, so I'm sure next time he can order it more spicy. Additionally, I was impressed with how absolutely fresh and well cooked the broccoli in my broccoli beef was- steamed to be crisp but still tender enough to eat. Little details, like cutting the broccoli into actual bite sizes, and removing the shrimp tails in the lo mein shows the food is cooked with an attention to detail. Great sushi that is always discounted 20% once the bill comes, generous portions, and great customer service is what makes me keep coming back here. This may be understandable if we weren't the only table in the restaurant; which we were. The golden bowl fried rice was very mediocre. It was not terrible so I will at least give them that. The best part was that as our check was presented, our server offered us a coupon for our next visit. My options are always open when it comes to eating out. We started out for a larger cajun restaurant nearby but they were so busy we changed directions and found this jem of a place. The service was outstanding, Amy was alittle much at first because I'm not use to this kind of service. Her eagerness to be helpfull can be taken wrong if your not observent. She had many suggesting for us to try and I was overwhelmed. I went with a few of her suggested picks. I had the Vocano roll, Shaggy Dog roll and Teriyaki on a stick. The rest of our table went with a few Asian staple dishes, General Tao's chicken and broccoli beef. We all shared alittle from each other's plate so we could get a sample of all they had to offer. When we we're done, all we could say was "Wasn't this the best Asian food we have ever had". You can tell that they use the better qualiaty meat/ chicken. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but it was neat, clean and had very nice decor inside. The bento box is such a great value--can't remember exactly how much it is, but I remember thinking "wow I get all this assortment for a great price?". Sushi was good, I'd like to see more of an assortment though. The chicken was juicy white meat, and all the sauces that they have are yum!! Give it a try--you won't be disappointed. They accept American Express which makes this gal happy. (Most Chinese restaurants don't, unless it's a bigger chain). Wow...and not in a good way either. It's my first time here with my family for lunch and it will be our last time. The food is okay, nothing special. The reason for this review is the customer service. We had ordered a tiger roll as part of our order and first off it took quite a while to come out. As in my dad was almost done with his food by the time it came out. When it did come we started eating it and realized it didn't seem like what we ordered. We looked at the menu again to see the ingredients and noticed that what we had been given was the tiger eye roll. Ok fine, it sounds similar so I understand how the mistake happened. However, when we brought it to the waitress's attention she insisted it was the Tiger Roll. I even pointed out the ingredients for both Tiger Eye roll and Tiger Roll to her on the menu and she still insisted that it was the right roll. I asked to see what she put down on her pad and she had written Tiger Roll. I pointed that out to her and all she asked was if we wanted to add the right Roll to our order. I asked her if we would be charged for both rolls and she said yes. After a bit more back and forth she grudgingly offered to give us the right Roll and take away the charge for the mistaken roll. All the while saying that it was our mistake because she announced the names of the sushi as she set it down. We were deep in conversation at the time and heard Tiger and Roll so... Smh. I usually write reviews for places that gave a good impression but this customer service sucks. Then, at the end the manager came by our table and tried to make it look like our mistake. Wow!
