I got the Shorti Bowl, which is eggs and meat over cheese grits. It was good but I just wanted the cheese grits to commit a little harder to the cheese. The meat itself was good too, although it did feel a bit like a piece of meat had been plopped in the middle rather than everything really coming together as a dish. My husband got the sandwich with basically the same kind of meat, and somehow it was both a LOT of sandwich and not a lot of sandwich at the same time. It looked impressive as a Katz's-esque pile of meat, but once you actually got into it, it was mostly meat, bread and pickles. I kept expecting some sauce or another topping to show up and it just...didn't. Also a little unwieldy to eat, although I guess that's part of the territory when your sandwich is 70% meat. I think Lunch Supper sits in a funny middle ground between classic diner/brunch food and a more modern version of it. Nothing we had was bad, but for some of their more popular dishes I guess I expected a little more oomph if that makes sense (and yes I tried adding hot sauce). I'd still happily come back with friends, especially to sit outside. I just think I'd be coming back more for the vibes vs the food.

I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. I couldn't reach anyone, so I left a voicemail, sent an email, and sent a social media message. After several more calls the next day, I finally reached someone, explained the situation, and was told my reservation was cancelled and I was "all set." The following day, I found a $50 cancellation charge on my credit card. I understand the posted policy is subject to a $25-per-person charge for cancellations less than one day in advance. In my 40 years, including 7 years working in the restaurant industry, I've made plenty of reservations secured with a credit card and have never had an experience like this after speaking directly with a restaurant to cancel. It was extremely misleading to tell me I was "all set" without the restaurant mentioning during that conversation that the $50 fee would still apply. Had I known, I would have tried to find two other people to use the reservation. I raised this with the manager, who gave me no grace given the circumstances. She repeatedly referred to the cancellation policy and told me their staff aren't trained to remind customers about the fee when cancelling a reservation. This was a 5 PM reservation on a Tuesday, right when the restaurant opens... not a weekend, holiday, or peak dinner hour. I made repeated attempts to give notice, and I expected cancelling to be easy and straightforward. Instead, I feel cheated by how the conversation and charge were handled. Future customers should be WARNED that being told your reservation is cancelled and you're "all set" stills means a cancellation fee is coming. BEWARE before making a reservation. I'm asking L'Opossum to refund the full $50 given these circumstances. If they do, I'll gladly update this review to reflect how the issue was resolved. Goatocado has officially become my favorite restaurant. I've eaten there twice now, and both times were consistently excellent. The food is incredibly fresh, and the service is fast, which I really appreciate. As someone who recently became a vegetarian, I've been looking for places that offer flavorful, satisfying meals and Goatocado delivers. I've had the California Bowl both times, and once with tofu. The flavor combination was perfect, fresh, balanced, and delicious. It's clear they put thought into their ingredients and how everything comes together. Food is better than average but I received below average service. I ordered 3 things for a take out and the cashier rolled her eyes at us when I asked for a bag. I noticed a similar comment regarding bags in previous reviews. It was my first time visiting this place as I am from out of town and was surprised with the level of customer service considering all the great Yelp reviews. The waitress didn't ask if I wanted a salad bowl or wrap and since it was my first time, I wasn't aware of available options. She should have asked instead of assuming.
