I am old and handicapped (there! I admitted it!) so I needed everything packed and moved from Oakland to El Sobrante. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and clear about the fees. They were able to set a date just a few days later. The three men who moved me were polite, hard working and fast. It was a warm day and the only complaints about the weather came from me. My new place is difficult to access but they managed get everything from the truck to the house with no problem. I had a small move of a few appliances. SOS had the most competitive quote and were able to schedule the soonest. I had two movers (Zhora and Zorig) come by, wrap the appliances and move them quickly and efficiently. Great job by the two of them and I had my move wrapped up pretty quickly. This was the most difficult move I have ever done because it involved a lot of packing and switching rooms and a drive to my San Rafael office from Glen Park. Zhora and Alex were incredibly kind, diligent, polite, and funny. They worked quickly but carefully. I would definitely use this company again and recommend it to all my friends. Everyone was super helpful, reliable, and responsive. I had a relatively small move from SF to LA, and all of my furniture and other belongings were handled with care and delivered safely. Because 3 hours of load-in time were included in the cost of the move and because it was otherwise quick, they were able to help with some of the packing which was very helpful for my fragile glassware etc that I didn't really have good packing materials for. They worked so quickly and efficiently (but still carefully!) that I really could have let them do more of that packing in the allotted time. They were also flexible about transporting things like my bike, scuba equipment, etc. They let me change the date of my move relatively last-minute, and because someone else had a similar move the next day the offered to let us combine moves at a discounted rate. Because of this they did end up arriving pretty late (after dark) but these guys were pros even though my electricity still hadn't been turned on! They were super quick with the load out as well. Moved from a shared unit (1br in a 4br apartment) with a narrow 1-floor walk up and they were able to safely get my couch out of my room and down that tight curve. They were also good about getting all of my things without accidentally stealing any of my roommates' stuff. Moved into a 2nd floor 1br with a small-ish elevator or stairs. All in all would definitely trust them with another move, and the pricing is really very competitive, especially for the quality of the work. read more

We recently used this company for moving, so I will start off with pros, in terms of booking and responsiveness great service, arriving on time with the appropriate size truck, great job. Was their fees appropriate based on the move? I would disagree that it was not worth the time or money. The cons are we hired 3 movers to move a 2 bedroom house/garage, they were extremely slow prepping furniture to go on the truck and basically saran wrapped everything in sight that took over 3 hours and really just un necessary items such as a bbq grills, outside patio furniture items in the garage and items that were already wrapped. I asked them to use the u-haul plastic coverings I purchase for my mattresses and living room furniture that they did not use. I felt their approach to prepping was a means to run up their hourly rate bill given the amount of time this took. A job they should have taken maybe 4 hours took 7, especially since we moved all the non furniture items and boxes ourselves days before they arrived. I can't image how much time it would have took if we had not done this. In addition, the 3 guys were smaller in frame/ weight and struggled to lift items. After 7 hours later my family member asked them leave after having to start helping them move furniture in the house and because they still had not completely set up the bed in one room and left several of our items saran wrapped that took us hours to un wrap and discard all the wrap . They left quilts and a saran wrap roll. The movers themselves could have worked faster and been more professional during the move part. This move was not worth the $1240 spent. My family member complained and received a very small amount back from the $1240 cost. I would not recommend this company to family or friends. read more

The movers were excellent and moved efficiently. They disassembled furniture when needed, and wrapped items with blankets, plastic wrap, and tape so things didn't get damaged in the move. They bring plenty of wardrobe boxes, moving dollies, and tape. These folks also will assemble the furniture once you get there. I didn't have a house full of stuff and was only going 5 min away. Just a few odds and ends and some furniture I would never be able to move on my own. They gave me a reasonable hourly rate that included EVERYTHING (a lot of other companies had taxes, travel fees, gas, etc. added on which made calculating a total hard to do) and there were literally no hidden fees or taxes involved with SOS. I payed EXACTLY what I expected to which was my hourly rate x 3hr minimum. They were on time, professional, mindful of my belongings, and very efficient. I was really impressed with their follow-through and communication from the initial contact to even a post-delivery email to get a final receipt. I think their rate is good, and we only went one hour over the initial estimate. Everything arrived the next day without damage.
