My experience was really a 3. 4 because I acknowledge move out really sucked for them + maybe I should have hired 3 movers instead of 2 for my small move I had to move from a 1br unit on the 3rd floor of a building with no elevator to a unit on the ground level. I got rid of a sofa and desk ahead of this so they didn't have to carry much down the stairs. Before I got rid of those, they estimated it would take 3 hours. The heaviest items that needed moving were: queen mattress, bed frame, 50 in TV, electric keyboard, 3 small dressers with stuff in them, wood coffee table. I got two movers. Their obstacles: The place I was moving out of have very narrow streets. They brought a big truck. Move out absolutely sucked for them due to 3 flights of stairs. I tipped them both well because of this. I maybe should have booked three movers but I was hoping they'd send two strong movers. Pros: They are super responsive and getting a quote was easy. They completed the move within the estimated timeframe. Friendly, communicative movers. Fair rates + good options for those who have small moves. Cons: I booked 8 am, the earliest available time. They showed up at 2 (not movers fault). The guy who booked me said I booked late morning/early afternoon when I called to ask for an updated ETA. I checked my emails and that wasn't the case. No biggie since I didn't have a lot of stuff. There was a strength/stamina imbalance between my movers. One lifted most of the heavy stuff himself and worked effectively. The other carried light stuff and worked a lot slower and less effectively. I think because of this, it was challenging for them to carry bigger items together. I booked on a weekday because the minimum hours required are fewer. Given I got rid of two of the heaviest items, I didn't think they'd need the full three hours. They completed the move around the quoted time, but I think they could have been faster if not for the above. I asked for a mattress cover, they didn't bring/use one. Broke the most important item I was moving. I know accidents happen, but this was the piece I stressed about the most and made me want to hire movers in the first place. I brought this piece up first thing when requesting this service. So I wouldn't recommend them if you're moving special items or pieces like this. The item is a dresser covered in mirrors, I've attached the photo of damage. Apparently the drawers slid out as they moved it to their truck. (Which seems like a beginners mistake to me?) The movers were nice and felt bad about breaking it, but it was unfortunately bad service for what I requested. Also, probably minor in comparison, but one of the movers didn't wash his hands after using my bathroom, which I just thought was gross... bathroom etiquette, folks! Everything else was just okay, not good or exceptional. They took apart and put back the bed and tightened up the legs on the now broken dresser. The mattress was dirty, so don't expect protection for that, but it wasn't a big deal to me. The boxes that I labeled weren't all moved to the correct room. Several months later we booked my move. I was prepared to hear that the had price increased and it had not! Wow, Thanks Zack! I felt very good about Zack and my Intuition was right. I made a wise choice and YES I'd hire him again in a heartbeat! I'm so glad I found B & Z Moving!!! Two friends have also gotten his contact information after they met him the day I moved. Seeing them in action and being asked for a business card tells you what a great job they do! So readers be warned if you fill out some form (like Angi's list or such) be prepared for your cell off the hook. Here's what I found: You may be asked for a deposit upfront for a local move, travel fees and price quotes for 2-3 men plus the truck, weekends and holidays cost more and four-hour minimums. In the end, my research was that most quotes were double and one was three times the amount I paid with B & Z Moving! B & Z Moving outlines everything and there is no guesswork. For instance, one company was a few blocks away and told me I'd have to pay a $60 travel fee. I'm like you're up the road a few blocks really? and lowered it to $40. Another had an $85 travel fee because of where THEY were located it took an hour to get to my location, a good reason to hire locals. Although based on geographical distance you need to expect this fee. A few gave discounts, but you have to ask for them. As far as deposits go, I have only ever given a deposit when I moved across the nation. Uhmmmm I would NOT hire a local mover who asks for a deposit. Experience has taught me with movers to be prepared for additional charges and fine print fees. I share my experience your move may be different. I am certain the companies hounding me for business would have said that the price yada yada yada was that the quote was only good for X amount of time, taking advantage of you didn't book then and our prices have increased....as so many opportunistic businesses do today. The Truth is it's Greed. What I did find once I completed the form was I was called and fast-talked by most of them and quoted outrageous prices except B & Z Moving. Zack reviewed my quote and the price remained the same even though the actual move was at a later date. While yes in the moving industry weekends and holidays move days cost more and other variables will factor into the price, distance, service, and attentiveness for me, I'd recommend B & Z Moving hands down!!! Warning, please do not use this service unless you are expecting to be overestimated on the quote, when Joey notes "this is just an estimate," which now feels like he was just trying to get us to sign for a sale. At first, he seems nice and organized, but when we contacted him to discuss our experience he took everything personally, became extremely unprofessional as he continued to talk over myself and then my roomate, flip flopped from agreeing to give a discount due to our experience in one conversation to then changing it to " accepting our feedback" after talking with his movers and boss due to investigating. I appreciated completely that process, but I would have hoped that he would also take our experience into account like he presented he would, but in the end he didn't. Then when we brought up to his attention the flip flop, our experience with other movers doing the job with in 3.5 to 4 hours max (as we were moving from a 1 bedroom apartment at about 700 sq feet about .7 miles away) when they did it in 6 hours ($135 x 6 now) expressed clearly our concerns (at one point our movers were taking an extremely long time to come back up to our apartment between loads when the truck was just downstairs, noting even the movers were hoping for a trolley of some sorts to be in the truck from the company to help them [we even let the movers use our trolley at the pick up location], I saw the movers constantly carrying maybe one small bag of clothes (wasn't heavy) and a light side table (empty) =about 2 items at a time (for about 2 hours out of 6 hours) several times per trip (which stretched the time even longer), our concerns of the health of their works due to not having adequate tools from the company and best strategy for get the job done in a timely fashion, +, after all this and more, he came back and noted "we will not be giving you a discount due to meeting before the estimate (very corporate thing to do) and due to the movers working hard, but they would take the feedback. In the end, it didn't matter what the customers experienced or shared or were guided to believe, it wasn't about a fair investigation noted from Joey, it was about the company. Weird to say that, because I would expect more from a smaller company that was local to us. That was one of the major factors I chose them. I wanted to give business to a local vendor, instead of the major corporate branches, but in the end they treated us worse than we have ever been treated. He was disrespectful, childish, couldn't take feedback at all, used the word "bully" when he was actually the one being that way and condescending by saying things like "you are making it hard for me to want to give you a discount," when I was giving him the feedback and noted of experiences with other movers, speaking my name over and over and over again getting louder and louder to stop me from talking (which he also did to my roomate when I had to pass him the phone due to Joey's responses/actions [added example when I said his name he would say mine louder) and he even said that "he wasn't a slave" when I had to remind him to stop talking over me when the only reason that happened was because how he was talking to us/which was talking over us +. Who says that? I even had to tell him, those phrases should not be used lightly and shouldn't be coming from him. None of it made sense. When we asked for his supervisors contact info, he just said "go ahead, go ahead, this is coming straight from him," then he never gave me the contact," and in the end hung the phone up on my roomate. They squeezed me in on little notice. The movers were nice and personable. My move was 2 1 bed apartments in the same building all going to the same place. It was $1200. They broke my 65 inch led flat screen tv. When pulling up my driveway they ripped the phone and cable lines off the house. For 1200 I expect no damage. These guys are total pros, would highly recommend. I contacted them on short notice for a weekend cross-town storage unit move and they were very responsive and able to accommodate me easily. They sent two guys out who were fantastic. Very quick and professional, packing up a 10x10 storage unit in under 40 minutes. The only snag was that their truck is quite large. Unbeknownst to me, it wouldn't inside the storage parking area at the destination end, which meant we had to park outside and use dollies to shuttle all my crap over to the loading area where I had hoped we would be able to park. This doubled the amount of time taken, but we still got it done within a reasonable time. Learn from me and ask some questions about these kind of things when you're working on the estimate. Hired B&Z Moving for a complex job of moving stuff from two storage units to one storage unit and an apartment. The job was completely with utmost professionalism and care. Danny and Isaiah very great at not just their work but also with clear communication and planning the move & storage. They were very cooperative with any ad-hoc requests that I had (like moving some stuff out at another storage unit, which wasn't a part of the initial estimate and plan). It's very easy to write a good review for a service where everything went great and as expected. But you really get to know what the company is like when things go south, which is what happened for us. We had some large and heavy items on the inventory that needed to be moved and unfortunately, there was an accident. This resulted in our property being significantly damaged and part of the inventory as well. B&Z took responsibility: they made the repairs to the property (did a very good job) and reimbursed the damage to the inventory as well. Also a huge shout out to the movers! We hired B & Z moving to help us move from a one bedroom apartment into our new house. The quote process was pretty seamless, I appreciated that they had a form to reviewed all potential furniture and items you could have to help jog my own memory of what I needed to include. I got an estimate a little on the high end, but I decided to go with B & Z because of the good reviews. The day of the move, Will, Anders, and David arrived promptly at 8AM like they had said they would and they called on their way to give us a heads-up. Our apartment was on the top floor of a three-story walk-up and they did an amazing job moving everything carefully and quickly! They got everything into the van by about 9:30AM. They were extremely gentle with our easily breakable items and valuables. After driving to our new home, they unloaded the van in about an hour! All in all it only took them about two and a half hours of work plus the driving time, and ultimately I was charged a lot less than the estimate. Everything made it safely into our home, nothing was broken and Will, Anders, and David were all really lovely to work with. Thrilled to give this place 5 stars. Moving is stressful enough and hiring movers even more so. I asked several moving companies for quotes, and Zac was the most responsive and followed up. The intake inventory form was a bit of a doozy, but everything else was smooth sailing. We had some hiccups with our house closing and needed to shift our move date. Zac and Nyssa were responsive and helpful, and did their best to accommodate us. On the day of the move, we had 4 young men show up who were friendly, polite, energetic, and fun to be around. Even when I asked for the nearly impossible with taking a pullout couch up and around a narrow stairway through a narrower doorway, they magically figured it out with only very minimal marks left on a stair railing. We were quoted 5 movers for 8 hours given 1.5 hours of travel time between the old and new house... our 4 movers got the job done in 5 hours flat, and saved us a ton of money. They arrived on time after communicating well through the morning. The 3 movers came in a big truck that had both a lift and a ramp on the back - have never seen that before. They used the lift to load and the ramp to unload - very efficient. They were very kind when showing me the damage they saw that happened on the barge over. They arrived to the storage unit right when I did even though it was over 20 miles. They arranged things in the storage unit the way I'd asked so I could walk to the back to access everything. B&Z helped us with a move from a Seattle apartment and storage unit to a house less than 10 miles away. Overall, they did a solid job and I would recommend them. Positive highlights: - When providing an estimate, they give you a huge but detailed questionnaire and inventory sheet to fill out in order to "eliminate as much back-and-forth email as possible". It sounds like a lot of work but is actually quite effective. Zac responded within 24 hours with a very detailed estimate as well as upfront information about their box prices and valuation options. I really appreciated their transparency. - Our moving crew of Zac, Matt and Darryck were friendly, professional and efficient. We ran into a few unexpected issues that were out of our control, such as a broken gate at our storage unit and snow on the street in front of our house, but the crew maintained a positive attitude the entire time. They even helped shovel some snow out of the way! - The final price we paid was almost exactly how much were originally quoted. Why I subtracted one star: - There was a miscommunication about whether B&Z would provide boxes. I requested boxes over email, but I'm guessing this wasn't captured in the signed estimate form because the crew didn't show up with any boxes or packing materials. My husband had to make a quick run to the hardware store to buy some boxes (which is honestly way cheaper than ordering them through a moving company) and the crew made do with using our kitchen towels to protect fragile items. - One of the crew members tried to carry an IKEA 4x2 shelving unit out of our apartment bedroom by himself. Unfortunately, he lost his balance when the drawers slid open and the furniture hit the wall... making a very visible dent (pictured). We didn't make a big deal out of it since it wasn't our property, even though we'll probably have to pay for the damage. We had a great experience with B&Z. I looked for movers very last minute as I couldn't decide which day to move. Zac was super helpful and professional and was able to accommodate my request. Everything was straightforward. I was asked to fill out an inventory so that Zac could come up with an estimate. I was quoted for 6 hours base on the inventory for a 1-bedroom apartment, but I was told that I would only pay for the actual time the movers take. The day of the move, I received a phone call from the team letting me know they were on the way. They were awesome and knew exactly what to do. They were fast and careful with our furniture. One person was moving furniture to the truck while the other was disassembling our bed. We told them our concern of the TV because its so big and thin and we didn't have a box. They listened and suggested that wrapping the TV with their blankets will do the job and it arrived at our new home without a scratch. Including driving to our new home (30 min drive roughly), the total moving time took only just over 4 hours. We were impressed with their professionalism and their speed. The movers were pretty slow and sloppy. It took two movers 5+ hours to move my one bedroom apartment to my new place that's less than 5 miles away. Both of the movers smelled like they hadn't bathed in days. Furthermore, they aren't good at disassembling and reassembling. They had lost hardware for both my bed and couch and couldn't put the couch back together at my new place. Also, my white couch got very dirty since they apparent don't wrap it for the move. I paid for the insurance option that is supposed to cover all lost with a $300 deductible, but when I reached out to them asking about filing a claim for my couch, they just told me to get replacement hardware myself. Overall, really bad experience. Bunch of overpriced amateurs. Would not recommend. read more

We used B&Z movers for the first time today to move our 1 bedroom apt from Queen Anne to a townhome in West Seattle. Movers showed up on time and were nice kids. However, didn't have much sense of urgency in loading up the truck, one of which I saw sitting down or looking at his phone a couple times. Annoying since we're paying by the hour. They somehow got our address wrong for our new place and ended up about 20 mins away but they did not charge for the extra time which we appreciated. Overall they were okay it's just that we had some pretty heavy items (which they ask for everything we have before sending movers) and it would've taken MUCH longer if my husband hadn't been there to help. We could've used an extra guy or just some stronger movers. read more
