Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious!!! The pizza dough is so light and tasty you don't feel heavy after eating more slices than normal. High quality ingredients which make for great reheated pizza leftovers, even cold the next day it's fantastic. Every pizza I have ever tried from them was a hit. I highly recommend trying the jalapeno hummus. Spice level depends on the peppers that day, but I would say mild to moderate as all my non-spice friends can still eat a fair amount of it. I like to dip my pizza crust in it! Cheese bread is a great way to start the meal and I was pleasantly surprised with their beer mix snacks as they make their own croutons. Salad is good, but not what I go there for. If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by, you will have a new favorite pizza place! I definitely do! read more

We happened to be down the street with our friends at the IDEA museum and worked up our appetites for lunch. I checked out food near me and came across the pizza shop Goat and Ram. After looking at their website with delectable, mouthwatering looking pizzas, we decided to try it out. It wasn't too hard to find being that the restaurant shares their space with Phantom Fox brewery. We ordered a cheese pizza and pepperoni with sausage, a hummus platter and a salad. Soooo much food for 2 adults and 3 kids. The crust was just like all other reviews, it was sooooo tasty, words can't describe it!!! What a great chew. The first bite to the final bite was remarkable! Will be back, we've got a favorite place now! read more

The pizza place & the brewery Phantom Fox are the same place. Everyone inside is friendly and quick to acknowledge you, which is always a plus in my book. I had a pizza that was cauliflower based. Ive had pizzas with cauliflower based crusts before, which is why I ordered this one. Maybe this was just not what I wanted, but it had a very odd flavor to it that I didnt like. We all have different palates so maybe it was just me. Regarding the beer, I'll be the first yo admit Im a beer snob. If you fall into this category as well, you'll want to take a pass here. I tried a couple of their IPAs & they were just undrinkable. With Oro Brewing just down the street, I was disappointed... read more

The biggest problem is that the Goat & Ram side has super bright white lights overhanging and it destroys the vibe/atmosphere, as the Phantom side has nice warm lights. You can see the bright daylight "hospital" lights in Goat & Ram easily from many parts of the Phantom side and it's jarring. Need fix. See pic. Also, too often the pizzas are not topped enough and you end up with literally half the pizza being untopped crust. Yes, that saves money for the restaurant, but at these prices we need less stingy pizza toppings. read more

Pizza was so good. We had the pepperoni and sausage pizza. Had small slices of sausage which tasted much better than I thought. Also had their hummus. We normally have pizza at Mykes Pizza but I'll be having this pizza instead. They are relatively close to each other. I do prefer the hummus at Mykes because their pita bread is to die for and much larger. Only complaint was that the air blew so hard on me while eating my hair kept getting in my food. Even after I clipped it up. It was nice and cool in the place but uncomfortable with the hurricane force winds blowing on me. read more

Searched for a good pizza joint near our hotel in Mesa and this did not disappoint. Coming from CA the downtown area (small) had a nice vibe. They are paired with a decent brewery that has a nice selection, and the service was great. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and while the toppings were on point, the crust is awesome. Almost a fluffy/light buttery croissant flavor but still held up to the toppings. The sauce was also advertised as "Smoked tomato sauce", and that held true - the flavor imparted a smoky finish. Always fun to try a new twist on a pizza I haven't tried before! read more

This pizza is a masterpiece. The Best Ever. Everything on the menu is fresh, creative, clean simple ingredients, and house-made. We started with a snack mix. Well seasoned and a perfect accompaniment to the beers. Then had the slightly spiced hummus, super fresh veggies, the house made bread was light, fluffy, and crispy. We also tried the white pizza. The crust is pillowy soft, perfectly crispy, and holds up to the cheese. It also had roasted garlic, and a habanero honey that was a flawless combo of flavors. We will definitely be back. read more

From the Business

Specialties

At Goat and Ram, our fame comes from two things: our unforgettable crust and our inventive approach to pizza. The menu always includes the beloved classics – like cheese and pep & sausage – but for those craving something different, our specialty pizzas offer a fresh dose of creativity every 2 weeks.

History

Established in 2023.

The heart of Goat and Ram beats with the passion of its founders: Dan (the Goat) and his wife Morgan (the Ram). Their adventure began with a pivotal Christmas gift — an artisanal pizza book from Morgan. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into an obsession. Leaning on his decade of experience in the culinary field, Dan spent 3 years and hundreds of iterations perfecting the crust he wanted people to experience. Once the dough was finally perfected, they bought a tiny 2 deck wood fired oven, borrowed a toy hauler from Uncle Junk, loaded it up with dough and went for it. After a couple years of doing pop-up events, the need for a traditional food truck was obvious. With more pizza came more demand and the space on the truck just wasn’t enough to keep up. In 2023 they opened a brick and mortar in a shared space concept with their friends at Phantom Fox Brewery in downtown Mesa. It’s the perfect match – pizza and beer.

Meet the Business Owner: Dan M.

I made a pizza that I would want to eat. I didn't try to emulate someone else's idea of pizza. I hope you like what we do.

And it definitely hit the spot of terms of price point. One thing to note, while I was talking to the owner/manager of the tipsy cactus (shout to him because he was really cool), he told me that Friday night and Saturday nights are usually popping so I wouldn't expect to be first in line on any of those nights. It also looks like they rotate food trucks on different nights, so don't assume that the cheesesteak truck is going to be here every night. I would check the tipsy cactus website, or Instagram page to be sure. I'll definitely be looking forward to checking this place out again in the future, especially if I'm hitting one of the food trucks parked outside.

It was smaller than I expected, but the taste was great and the portion size turned out to be just right for me. My sandwich also came with a side of two fresh strawberries. I didn't know it would, so that was a surprise. I also ordered the pineapple matcha, which was refreshing and a great drink for summer. I recently visited Goat & Ram after hearing about it on Facebook, and it did not disappoint! The standout for me was the pizza crust - it was incredibly artisan, reminiscent of a perfect French bread. I met up with a couple of friends, and we enjoyed the casual, laid-back atmosphere. One thing to note is that there isn't traditional table service; you order your drinks at one counter and your food at another. It's a bit unconventional, but it adds to the relaxed vibe of the place. While the appetizer selection could be larger, the hummus dip with cucumbers and carrots was a delightful starter. However, I do wish they offered non-cold dips for the pizzas, as all the sauces, including those on the pizzas, were served cold. Overall, Goat & Ram offers a unique and enjoyable pizza experience, especially if you're a fan of artisan crusts. A few tweaks to the menu would make it even better! read more

I must admit, I couldn't locate this place until I pulled the Yelp app and noticed that it was tucked away inside the Phantom Fox. After driving around aimlessly, I finally parked and decided to explore on foot. It was then that I found this hidden gem. The vibe was laid back, and the best part was it wasn't packed with people. I ordered the $16 cheese pizza, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight when I savored it at home. The crust was perfectly fresh, and they were cheesy and satisfying. The staff were pretty chill and explained that their store sign hadn't been made yet, which explained the absence of any signage at the front. No worries though, as the experience more than made up for it. Highly recommend! read more

During our visit to Mesa, AZ, Goat & Ram restaurant proved to be an excellent choice. With a large group in tow, we sought a venue that could accommodate everyone, and Goat & Ram fit the bill perfectly. The ambiance was lively, exuding an energetic vibe that added to the dining experience. The food rivaled the quality of the beer, if not surpassing it. Our custom pizza, topped with pepperoni and sausage, was a highlight of the evening. Service was exceptional, with staff readily catering to our large group's needs and ensuring satisfaction with both food and drinks. For anyone passing through Mesa, Arizona, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by this gem of a pizza place. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at Goat and Ram. The person making the pizza looked very young and ended up burning it. After already waiting an extra 40+ minutes for a replacement, the second pizza was still pretty burnt. Between the long wait and the poor quality, it just wasn't worth it. I was hoping for a much better experience. read more

It just happened that they were having a Pineapple Festival, and since we both like pineapple, of course we had to give it a try! Their Happy Hour has $5.50 beers and $9.50 cocktails, which is not bad at all. We ordered the Angry Hawaiian Pizza and Smoked Wings. Both were really flavorful, and the spiciness was just right. It had a nice kick but wasn't so spicy that it covered up all the other flavors. We really enjoyed the food. For drinks, we got the Pina Old Fashioned and a 16 oz Tropical Hopalicious. The Pina Old Fashioned was the disappointing part for me. I could definitely taste the whiskey flavor, but somehow I could barely taste the alcohol. My face usually turns red after just a few sips of a cocktail, but this one did nothing to me! It tasted more like pineapple juice with a little whiskey flavor. I mean, it's an Old Fashioned! I was expecting something much stronger and more bourbon-forward. Other than the cocktail, we enjoyed the food and were glad we stopped by to try their Pineapple Festival. Oh well, not everything is going to be a winner. At least we gave it a try.

The interior was large, spacious with natural light pouring through the large window walls. I was hoping to find a pesto-base pizza but they did not have any to select from. Given I was in a pesto mood, I ordered the Tahoma (chicken, mushrooms, goat cheese and a pesto sauce drizzle). I also got a drink as I spied a Coke fountain across the dining area (bonus points having Coke over Pepsi or other soda brands). In the back they have a bar & counter seating but it was not being manned during the lunch hour. My pizza was delivered pretty quickly and looked amazing. Unfortunately, my rating came down a notch as after two of the four slices...I really didn't get enough (or any) pesto...the drizzle was a fizzle as it was devoid of strong pesto flavor. The cheese was also a little muted and lacked flavor. However, the crust was incredible- doughy but crispy that had a good amount of chew and flavor. The dough was properly fermented and that oven was enough high heat to perfect it. I'm definitely up for coming back and trying some more of those pizzas- the Buckley, Evergreen, Nona and Northwestern (starting to love pear on pizza) have caught my eye. Ultimately I chose the Mesa store because it was the original and I wanted to see Mesa. We started with a basic garlic cheese bread appetizer and it was great. The calamari was tempting but we'll save that for next time. Wife ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and I ordered the usual Chicken Parmesan which came with a side of pasta. It was actually a harder choice than usual because I walked thru the restaurant before I ordered and so many dishes looked good, as did the pizza. But I went with the usual. Let's start with the wife, which truly speaks to the five stars because she frankly doesn't love Italian food. She eats it when I beg. And she loved it. She actually proactively mentioned she wanted to go back. That's like 7 stars right there it's so abnormal. I agree with her. The chicken parm was fantastic. Amazing. To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. Or 7 if you ask my wife.

My only complaint was the portion size for the price. Normally I would get to chicken pieces and have leftover chicken. I remember normally going in and being able to split this dish with my husband, but this time it came with one piece of chicken. This was a little disappointed for the price point and hoping to get more protein. The other really annoying part when dining at Vito's is parking. I circled around twice including the parking lot by the car wash and State Farm and called Vito's asking for advice where to park and was told Walgreens across the street due to a big party they were having in the basement. Lastly, Vito's has a happy hour menu, the discount used to be better in the past so lately I haven't ordered from it. However, the frustrating part is in the summer the only way to benefit from them is to sit outside on the patio. I wish they allowed for seating for happy hour specials during hot summer months to be inside as well.
