New owners, new branding, and the fact I had fired my previous teriyaki joint, had brought me to try GOGO! Honestly, I never tried it before because of the location and convenience factor. I had always assumed it would be a nightmare to make that left turn on 19th during rush hour. Well let me tell you folks, it's a non issue! Phewww! First of all, the owner Angus is so nice! The fact he knows it's me when I call, really personalizes it - and the fact that he knows my order! That's called customer service! Although I don't typically stray from the spicy teriyaki, I've recently switched my order. I've been ordering 1/2 spicy & 1/2 regular teriyaki... or as I like to call the "Erica Special". Maybe someday it'll be a thing- and I'll be on the menu. Haha! It's delicious & I like not having to choose! My husband always orders the Katsu plate. Recently Angus told me about a spicy katsu that they offer. The next week, I ordered it for my husband and it's a hit! In fact, he hasn't ordered anything BUT the Spicy Katsu ever since! I've never been a huge Katsu fan, but GOGO definitely does their Katsu right! I would definitely get the spicy one myself! They offer a free drink with purchase too, talk about a bonus! The portions are good, and always consistent. (Unlike the competition down the road, whom lacks in all the above!) I love GOGO! They're my new GO-TO for Thursday night "Teriyaki take out!" I want to start off saying that they are SUPER nice and this is a solid 3 star place. We ordered about 30 mins before close for pickup. The fried mushrooms are great, but the portions for the other items we ordered are small for the price compared to other teriyaki places around down and into Seattle. The fried rice was decent but a little oily and on the blander side of things with little meat or veg. The half spicy chicken and half teriyaki chicken was good, but again, not super flavorful, and the chicken portion was small. Lots of steamed rice though. read more

This place is money! Im guessing it's the owner who manages the front desk and answers the phone. He's the most engaging, charming, and genuine person I've ever encountered in 20 years of eating teriyaki all over Washington state. When I called to order my chicken teriyaki, it was actually a personable conversation and he even asked me if 10 minutes was too soon for me? After I hung up I was like, is this real life? To my knowledge they actually grill your chicken to order. Most of the surrounding teriyaki joints have a massive pile of pre-cooked chicken ready to reheat on their grill which is epic fail. The salad is your typical teriyaki spot salad with the generic white sauce dressing. I have a feeling this owner can improve and become more unique in the salad dressing realm. The chicken is good quality and I was able to eat every single piece without hiccup. The rice is above average, it could be stickier in my opinion but, that's me being a stickler. The portion size was perfect, not lacking in the chicken or rice department and I am fully satisfied after finishing. You get a free beverage with your order e.g Kirkland water bottle, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, etc. Not sure if there's punch cards, which is a vanishing benefit these days in the teriyaki realm. Great experience! I live like 5 minutes away from this place and wanted to try something new, I called them and I received a call on the other line mid-order so I quickly finished the call, gave my name heard a quick "thanks for calling" just before I switched calls. Super friendly call even though I was so awkward. I arrived a few minutes later, I was politely greeted and paid for my Beef and Chicken Teriyaki. During the brief conversation, I looked over to the drink cabinet and the man behind the counter said "go ahead it is included with your meal" -super legit! Just as I picked a drink the order emerged from the kitchen! Excellent timing! So, just to recap so far A+ customer service and speed. The Food: Portions size was great The salad - pretty good actually, it was refreshing and light. Served it's purpose :) The rice - was cooked perfectly and was fluffy and delightful. The chicken teriyaki - was good, nice sear marks with a tasty char to it. The teriyaki sauce is quite sweet but not at all bad. The beef teriyaki - was ok, it a was moist and seem if a high quality, but flavor-wise but didn't pair well with sweet teriyaki sauce. The chicken did pair much better with sauce. It is extremely rare I write a review, as it's not my thing. However, when something is as good as Go Go T, there's a difference. I ordered 5 dishes and waited for the order. Nothing is faked. It was all made fresh to order. Not a single grizzly chunk of anything, great spice on the spicy chk, and the salads are real. Really...no shredded cabbage. Fresh, and crispy on the lettuce too. Nice touch were some leafy greens as well. Enjoyed talking with the owner (?). We talked cars, and get away destinations - like Hawaii (my in-laws from Oahu; he's more of a Maui person!). This inside is modest, but clean and efficient. I like teriyaki, and I've been to many that make you wonder if the client side is eh, what about the kitchen? Not this place. We are now regulars at this teriyaki restaurant! My favorite is the spicy chicken teriyaki with mushrooms, my husband loves the chicken yakisoba with extra veggies, and our toddlers polish off a chicken teriyaki with extra chicken. Our kids eat the food here like they've been starved! The food is sooo fresh and the chicken is so tender! My husband and our daughters have food allergies and we are always anxious about trying new places. As you can imagine, it can be quite daunting trying a new place at the risk of having an allergic reaction so we are always finding new places we can safely eat at. Go go serves the same teriyaki you'll get anywhere, but it seems to have been prepared by a 4 star chef and is served with the highest polite Japanese service outside of a palace. I had the tofu teriyaki. The salad was identical to any other place but the dressing was perfectly distributed. My tofu was a medium quality curd but fried to absolute perfection, with a thin light crisply shell and a moist, soft center with not a memory of rubberiness. Plating was done with care and balance, presented on lovely ceramic with an understated design. My partner's chicken teriyaki was likewise excellent. The server was outstanding and made us feel like by ordering cheap teriyaki we were repaying a huge favor, presenting our food like a rare flower. I'm a big fan of GO!! GO!! and I'm not the only one. They're always busy around 12PM and 6PM and they can't easily take phone orders during peak times, so best to simply walk in and wait. The wait can be about 20 minutes up to an hour, but it's always worth it. If no one is at the counter, don't call out to the back like a fool. They have motion detectors, video and live surveillance, so they already know you're there in their lobby; however, they're busy and will come out when they can. Remember, kitchen work is heavy, messy, time-consuming, hot, and dangerous, so never rush them. Know exactly what to order beforehand. Avoid the faux pas of thinking too long about what to order or asking a lot of questions that wastes their time and that of everyone else behind you. Just look at the menu in the window from outside, walk in, wait to be greeted you, order quickly, listen to the nice music playing while you wait, or wait patiently in your car for your order to be cooked up, then pick it up at the counter when it's ready. They don't have time to deliver it to your car, so don't be silly and ask them to let you know when it's ready. Just watch the clock, get out of your car and check in periodically. If it's busy and crowded and you don't have the patience to wait to place an order or you know you won't be able to wait for your order to be cooked up, don't be rude or demanding. They're not desperate and have the right to refuse service to anyone. GO!! GO!! is never slow, despite how calm the front might seem. I rolled up thinking I lucked out, but then a bunch of cars showed up suddenly. People pick up, go, and it is deceptively serene again. The co-owner/Angel investor relishes the day that isn't super busy since it so rarely happens. I'm in the food industry, and attest that it's not how the front appears, but the kitchen truly depicts how busy they are. I know they are so busy they can't even take a time-out as they toil over 12 hours a day prepping and cleaning in that hot kitchen, so I always leave at least a 25% tip. Yes, it's pickup and takeout, but show your appreciation and don't be cheap. Plus, gratuities go to the talented and over-worked owner/chef who absolutely deserves kudos. read more

Once I arrived we made great small talk and for a small establishment I was genuinely impressed. I was super excited to get my food! After a weekend of cold weather camping, we were headed home in the late afternoon and both my husband and I were craving teriyaki. We'd tried a lot of teriyaki in the area that was mediocre, so when I saw Go! Go! on the search results, we decided to order ahead. It's important to note that this restaurant has been renamed and under new ownership and has much better reviews that the old one! My husband ordered his favorite, chicken katsu, and I ordered the beef & chicken teriyaki combo. When we arrived, there were a few patrons in the restaurant. The person working the front (I think may have been the owner) was very efficient and friendly while handling the phone and walk in customers. I noticed how lovely & simple the interior decor was. Very inviting. When it was our turn in line the owner warmly greeted us. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to ask where we heard of Go! Go! And thanking us for choosing them. (I'm one of those people that really prefers to go to stores and cafes where the owners genuinely appreciate the business and make the experience great.) The food had just been made and smelled delicious - but we were taking it home to eat. The katsu was so perfectly crispy with an out of this world katsu sauce. My husband said it it was better than his favorite katsu he'd had elsewhere - and trust me, that's a high compliment because my husband is *very* hard to please. My chicken/beef teriyaki combo was bomb; the beef was thin and tender, having been tossed in a heavenly teriyaki sauce that was perfectly seasoned and not too sweet. The chicken teriyaki was very tender and juicy, and being thigh meat something I don't typically enjoy, I was pleasantly surprised. They loaded up the dish with lots of sticky white rice. In addition, a crisp, fresh side salad with a sweet, creamy dressing was included, as well as a free can of pop. The dinner was a little pricier than average (than other places we've eaten for teriyaki), but you get what you pay for here in addition to great, friendly service.
