I really enjoyed the old Glo's location and was excited to try the new one. I was also excited to learn that that the staff have formed a union and that Glo's is now one of the only independent union restaurants in Seattle. However, the wait was 50 minutes outside in the rain. It's awesome that this business is having success but so very disrespectful of our time to make customers wait for almost an hour to be seated and not to offer open table or another reservation system to respect our time. I'll be back when they met me make a reservation instead of waiting an hour before I can order a cup of coffee. read more

Then once greeted and with a very simple order placed, it took about 20 minutes to get my food -- which turned out to be a totally wrong order (completely, totally wrong). I pointed it out to a server, and they took it away, and then I waited another 20 minutes for the correct order. No apology nor explanation was offered. The servers and other attendants seemed to be socializing with one another a lot, but not attending to customers. On top of all of that, the food was very overpriced for what it is. Just about the worst place to go. They don't care about their customers safety. Had this guy with a knife enter the establishment acting crazy. Knew him by name and when we payed and were leaving he tried to attack us. They didn't care if we were okay (2girls and a baby) they gave "mica " coffee and hugged him after he attacked us and other people that were walking in the street. I love eating here, I live across the street. I love the food and love that it's an old staple! Food is great. I usually come alone but whenever I want to bring a friend or family, I know to get in on their waitlist almost an hour before hand sometimes even 2! Waits are long given it gets pretty busy and it's not a huge restaurant. Another thing I would say is that the customer service is spotty. Not always the best in that area. Waiters are not always friendly, I know to order everything I want and need in one go because I'm not sure if I'd be checked on in a timely manner by the time I'm ready to go. I was EXTREMELY disappointed because this restaurant turned my family away on our special trip to Seattle. I understand we had a large party but they up didn't even consider separating us. I was so excited to finally try Glo's because every time I've walked by it, the wait was way too long. This time I swung by around 11am on a weekday and the wait wasn't nearly as bad (~30 min) so I opted in. With the bench outside, the wait for a table really didn't feel as long. What was long was the wait to get our food. I want to say we waited about an hour to get our food, which was way too long seeing as we just ordered two entrees during our lunch break (two salmon benedicts). From my observations, it looks like there may only be one main chef in the kitchen and she/he goes table by table instead of having multiple chefs prepare for multiple tables. Besides the crazy wait, the food is on par with your local brunch joint. I would skip adding the avocado to your benedict because it tasted more like guacamole since it is mashed up and not slices. The food is solid we got the waffles with fruit, and a scramble and it was a TON of food! If we weren't going to the airport we would have packed it up and would have saved it for lunch. Not overly pricey but we did spend quite a bit here adding on sides etc. The coffee cake is a must get if you are here! My girlfriend and I heard about this place from friends of ours that swore it was an amazing place for brunch so today we went. We were seated ordered coffee and the couple sitting next to us had a small dog which my girlfriend who loves animals asked to pet and the couple who were very nice people said yes of course she could. They chatted for a minute and she came and sat back down. As we waited for our food we saw the server go back to the people with the dog and then the manager or someone who looked like a manager came over and we heard the woman ask i wanted my eggs soft and do these look soft to you? The guy immediately questioned them about their dog, the woman who was getting upset explained it was a service animal and she had proper documentation and what about her eggs? Her husband then asked what that had to do with the food which wasnt prepared the way his wife had ordered it. The guys leaves and someone came from out of the kitchen grabbed both of their plates and said "we're done" and kicked the couple out. My girlfriend ran outside and talked to them by the time she came back i had already grabbed her coat and purse and left 20 bucks on the table for the sip and a half of the coffee i had and we left. The dog never made a sound it was a tiny dog and for these people to be from somewhere in the middle east and to get treated like that is no place place i'd ever want to or will patronize. We left and went to Five Point where we always go and the service is as it always is great! We dont live in Seattle so when we do we typlically make a day of it and its sad to see people being mistreated. Last I checked i think Its discrimination to treat someone with a service animal like that? And maybe train your staff in food hospitality 101 customers will come with all kinds of issues big and small but at the end of the day they chose your establishment to eat and help you while satisfying their need for somewhere enjoyable to eat they dont owe you a damn thing! So glad Glo's is back! And better than ever! Used to go to the old spot when I was much younger and living on the hill. Now I drive out from the 'burbs (ok, not quite, but a bit north) to eat at the new version. Sometimes with kids in tow on non-school days (they love it!). More often just hubs and I on a weekday "working from home". Weekday waits are not bad at all and often seated immediately. I love how nice and friendly everyone who works there is. The place is kinda Norman Rockwell with the decor and the nicely presented, actually cheerful-looking, food! In the middle of Capitol Hill. Cracks me up :) Food: This is still the place to get eggs benedict. Classic versions, very well prepared. I love their scrambles and omelets though and those crispy AF hashbrowns! The buttermilk pancakes are also really good! Get them with a side of fruit which always comes super fresh and beautifully presented. They make a banana taste fancy. One miss is the french toast. They could use better bread for it. But I have to admit I'm always most excited for the coffee cake that we get before the meal! I know, indulgence! But it is SO f'ing good! And it goes so well with a black coffee while waiting for the main event. You cannot skip it. Even if you are getting a waffle to share after your omelet. I agree with the many reviews, this place is tiny, but worth the wait. We came around 9AM, place was full so waited about 30 minutes. Service was attentive, coffee and water refills were a plenty. I settled on the Corned Beef Hash, the serving size was large, enough for 2 people to split, it was delicious and filling. My sister ordered the Stuffed French Toast, she gave me a little bite was sweet and moist. I also tried a bite of the ham, it was thick and tasty. I never post reviews, but my experience with Glo's was frustrating enough to motivate me. I ordered takeout from there the other morning. I got home with my food, after waiting past the time they told me my food would be ready and after tipping very well despite the delay, only to find out that they gave me a freaking burnt pancake. I ordered a short stack of pancakes, so there were only two and one of them was literally burnt - on both sides! And, the most annoying part, they tried to hide the burnt pancake under the other non-burnt pancake, so even if I had checked my food before leaving the restaurant, I wouldn't have seen it. Whoever put the pancakes in the to-go box absolutely knew this pancake was burnt, and it absolutely would've been sent back if it was served to someone in the restaurant. Since this was my first (and last) experience with Glo's, I don't know if this lack of integrity is a systemic problem there or just caused by a single lazy and dishonest employee. But if this is the level of care they put into all their food, I would not recommend eating there. Who knows where else they are cutting corners. The food was good, and portions were generous, but what really dictates my rating is the fact that our waitress did everything but provide service to us. We waited approximately 50 minutes for our food, and watched others who came after us get their orders before we did, which tells me that they probably forgot about us. My friend had also ordered an orange juice, which should've been brought up first thing. They actually forgot about that too, and only ended up bringing it out after we reminded them AFTER we waited almost an hour for the food. To top things off, we had to go up to front just to pay because our waitress again neglected to even bring us the check as she seemed more engrossed in a conversation about her tattoos with another customer at the bar (not a random assumption, we actually saw her pointing to her tattoos and talking about them with the customer, instead of tending to our table so....). Glo is my go-to for higher quality dinner style brunch. They have all the classics (eggs, bene's, omelets, pancakes, waffles, etc) but my favorite options have been some of their specials. Particularly if you are lucky enough to be there when they do their lemon poppyseed pancakes with their homemade lemon curd. YUMM! It's a small establishment (probably only seats around 40 max) so plan on having to wait for a table once you get there and make sure you are ok without too much of a space bubble when you eat. Also, there isn't much space at the front desk area inside so their policy is to wait outside till your table is called. Please dress accordingly (in case it is cold). I see a recent one-star post from someone who was angry about this. I do understand her concern, but as a guest of the establishment, I also would not want a crowd of people standing over me witing for a table while I eat breakfast. There really isn't room and it impedes the service staff as well. One HUGE positive to know about GLO's....they are open extremely late on the weekends. They open at midnight on Friday nights and stay open till 4pm on Saturday. Then again Midnight on Saturday until 4pm on Sunday. Oh, and don't forget 7am-3pm Mon-Friday.
