I've only ever been here for drinks during the fall/winter season. We were able to all sit around the little fire pit order drinks and chill. Brunch is a different beast. It's a beautiful area for brunch (if you don't mind the bees). We opted to sit outside (around 11am/august) which if you don't sit under an awning/umbrella, you'll be sweating up a storm! The table had a QR code where you can scan and order as a table or separate. The drinks and food came out super fast. Mind the sizing of the lattes. I accidentally ordered the smallest and though it was cute, the lavender latte was so good, I wish it was a bigger size. The food came shortly after. Everything on the menu looked absolutely scrumptious and I couldn't decide. But ended up going with the breakfast tacos. After the first taco, I was already full but ate the second shortly after. Sitting outside, it is self serve water, utensils and napkins.

Citizen waffle was so good. Savory is now my favorite way to have waffles

Perfect Seattle joint on Queen Anne. Amazing brunch selection and so good, those savory waffles are what dreams are made of. And the classic Seattle grunge music? Chefs kiss

Korexican Tacos: bulgogi beef, spicy cucumber mix, caramelized onions served with house-made green salsa verde, black beans, sriracha mayo

I honestly come to Citizen for their Korexican Tacos. I've never ordered anything else, but it's because these tacos are so good! I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of fusion food, but I think this dish knocks it out of the park. I also don't have high opinions of many restaurants in the surrounding area, but I would recommend Citizen as a wonderful option. I love that there are various seating areas, which work very well during the summer or when there is nice weather. The only thing that confuses me is the name 'Citizen Collective' encompasses Citizen Cafe & Bar and Citizen Campfire. There are various times for each of these, so I'd make sure to check out their website. But as I described above is the Citizen Campfire, which is 21+ after 4pm.

This place has a great atmosphere and is a great hangout spot with friends. There are a couple games like cornhole you can play while you wait for your food! The food itself was pretty good and came out quickly. I really liked the BLAT (although it really tore up the roof of my mouth). The tacos not bad, but I wouldn't order them again personally. I felt that the meat was too chewy and in general just wasn't a great taco. The nachos were very tasty with lots of toppings!

Good food and drinks, terrible service lol. Or it may just depend if the bartender is grumpy or not. We asked the bartender to change the TV and her comment was "I can do that but I am making all your guys' drinks" in a sassy tone. Like okay, aren't you happy we are ordering? No need for a tone Food/drinks also do not come out in a matter that makes sense. My husband ordered a coffee cocktail and it just did not appear for like 30 minutes, then we asked, and their response was that the cafe needs to help with that?? Ordered a breakfast burrito (which was really good btw, and how this place is getting 3 stars) and I got cheesey potatoes, potatoes never showed. Asked the person running the food about it, they brought out normal potatoes. And then 20 minutes later my cheesey potatoes came. Idk seems super unorganized. But I love the outdoor space and they have heaters, and they also have some good cocktails.

A cute spot with a great outdoor space, which is the real winner here. The vibe is fantastic and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. For folks with gluten or celiac the only meat options available are bacon and tofu as everything else has gluten in the marinade. There are options but it is very limited. My husband ordered two plates, the avocado toast waffle and the Korean tacos. He said the tacos were solid and the waffle was soft and tasty. Come with friends and come for drinks. Thats where this place shines.

Stumbled into Citizen for breakfast on the way to the Pop Museum while visiting Seattle. The no frills seating options offer comfy spots to hunker down and order a cup of coffee or a full on meal. Some indoor seating is available upstairs in the building but there were only 3-4 small tables. You order at your table and servers bring your food and drink to your table. I tried the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was fantastic. Several hot sauces are available for those who want to add a kick, I spotted a condiment station near by my table. Liked the fast-casual nature of the joint and cannot beat the proximity to some major Seattle attractions.

I've come to meetups a couple times here now and each time it has been a good experience. I've only been here for drinks out on the yard/patio and have yet to eat here, but the cocktails and beer selections are good, and the staff are great. Of course, There is a fair amount of space despite the amount of people who show up thanks to the weather. When the sun sets and it starts to get cooler, the staff will light the fire pits which helps the fun continue into the night. There are outdoor games and two bathrooms that are fairly well maintained along with a pedal powered sink! Again, I say the yard/patio area is so great. I've yet to have any of the food here but my friend has given a thumbs up to the "Citizen sandwich". Until I have some of the food here, I'll safely rest on how this a great place to come when it's nice out to enjoy the yard.

Came here for cocktails and a bite to eat and will certainly be back if I'm ever traveling in the area again! Having four roses as the well bourbon to make an old fashioned was unreal and the bartender on staff knew what she was doing! Cocktails were incredible and the ambiance here was excellent.

Cuban Sandwich

The place is an outdoor restaurant with outdoor lounge seating and campfire pits around. The ambiance was great it was a cute chill spot. You walk up to the bar and order what you want and there is a QR code where you can order. My problem with the place is I opened a tab and they charged me $100. I wasn't informed on this and when I told the bartender she said my money will come back but she kinda of brushed it off. It's not a regular thing they do they said it's something wrong in the system so it happens randomly, which is not good at all. Secondly I ordered a Cuban sandwich and it was OK. The bread was SUPER hard so it's like fighting the bread just to eat the sandwhich. I did try the guacamole and pico which was pretty good as well. I will say the drinks were strong i ordered the spicy margarita. I know there is a limit to how much they can pour but I barely got a quarter of a cup before she filled it with ice. The slushies were good though even better if mixed. Overall 6/10 good for drinks

Green tea shot and lemon drop drink before a Thursday singles event
Jessica S.

We held a singles event for Thursday Dating and it was super fun! We sold out quickly with more than 150 people signed up, and got the majority of the space at Citizen for our event (there was another smaller event going on that had the front area reserved). The staff were immediately helpful and knew what they were doing. Shout out to Garett (sorry if I spelled it wrong) he was a newbie but he knew what he was doing - very helpful to me and the other staff all night. Drinks were flowing and there was a pretty long line for drinks. If we have an event there again, since we sell out every event I would want us to be able to book the whole space (instead of sharing it like we did) and have another bartender or a roving bartender in the farther covered area to encourage chilling in the couch seats. People spent a lot more time in line than we expected, but it's not a bad place to meet someone as a single person. Always a good time at Citizen! I can enthusiastically recommend them for events.

Cubano
Scott G.

The Citizen Collective is a quaint location, in what looks to be a VERY old building in downtown Seattle by the space needle. We stopped in for brunch on day and was pleasantly surprised with this foodery. The menu is table based and mobile, so you scan the QR code on the table to make an order and they bring it right to you! I had the Cubano which was so perfectly seasoned. The pulled pork was sooo perfectly slow roasted, such an exceptional treat. The side salad was light and gave a good brightness to the seasoning of the sandwich. Beyond the indoor seating which is slightly limited, the outside garden area is also available so, if you go anytime other than the summer, I suggest having jacket JUST IN CASE you need to sit outside! Otherwise a great place to get some even greater food! Give them a try!

Breakfast sandwich and Bloody Mary
Ally P.

Came here for brunch today...large open patio, covered, string lights, dog friendly & heaters. No wait and lots of open seating which is great... nothing worse than a long brunch line. You order on your phone which is fine but everyone in my group ordered at different times so our food came to our table randomly, but the service was fast. I had the breakfast sandwich - brioche bun toasted, white cheddar, bacon, arugula, aioli and egg. Not sure what they were going for with the 5 grapes on the side lol but besides that it was good! The Bloody Mary was nothing special but did the trick. I came here a lot during Covid because of the outdoor seating. Good drinks and great location, especially on rainy Seattle days. I would recommend, especially to dog owners.

Ask the Community - Citizen

Is the outdoor seating heated?

Yes, they have heaters and several tables come with a fireplace!

Are there vegan options?

there is fruit, oatmeal, bread, veggies but nothing is specifically made vegan or could I find anything that was easily identifiably vegan. maybe they could make something but I didn't ask the one time I was there.

Ate there gluten free bread and crepe options?

I don't think so, but it's possible. If you're serious about gluten-free (example, if you have celiac disease) even if they have gluten free breads/crepes, I think the prep areas, etc... would likely be cross-contaminated. Super tiny kitchen/prep… Read more

Do they take reservations?

I don't think so.

Kids are allowed?

We took our 17 year old son for breakfast and saw a lot of smaller kids there. Food was great!

Is there a happy hour menu?

Happy hour drink specials on the weekdays.

Do they serve beer or wine?

I know they for sure have hard alcohol for their coffee drinks. And the outdoor patio said they have beer.

Is this a dog friendly place and is there outdoor seating?

We sat outside and there were dogs!

Look no further than Anchorhead Coffee. They've been around since 2013 and I've always enjoyed their coffee and the ambiance in their cafes. Today, I stopped by their Pike Place Market location and also got friendly service. I tried their seasonal Salted Brown Butter Caramel Latte. Their caramel is made in house. I got my drink hot and it was delicious with the melted caramel. I was pleased that this drink was not too sweet compared to most flavored drinks in other cafes. The location of this cafe is a little off the beaten track, which means it may typically get less foot traffic compared to other cafes in the heart of the market that often has long lines. If you want to avoid those long lines, go here. This place also has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. check it out for yourself soon!

Both were delicious and definitely on the lighter side rather than a dark oolong. Crimson Mist leaned more earthy, while Golden Bloom was noticeably more floral. I mainly came for their premium kung fu tea, and honestly, the menu is overwhelming in the best way possible. I wanted to try everything. This time, I went with the Mountain Haze Green Tea. Grown at high altitudes, it's very light, smooth, and low in bitterness. The tea is steeped for you and served in a pot, and you can request multiple cups if you're sharing, which is a nice touch. Since green tea is a popular choice, here are a few extra notes. Dragonwell, typically from Hangzhou, has a nutty sweetness with subtle chestnut notes. Taichi Sprouts is milder and more grassy, but still carries a gentle sweetness. And if you're unsure what to order, Jasmine Green is always a safe bet, you can't go wrong with its classic floral aroma. Huge shoutout to Jessie for taking the time to clearly explain the different tea categories. I'll definitely be coming back, and next time I want to try their ice cream as well.

We were initially enticed to visit Chaco Coffee & Tea given the mention of boba on their website. There aren't many options near Seattle Center, so having an additional one is always welcome! Walking in, unfortunately we found no mention of boba anywhere on the menu. I guess it's a future option or perhaps the website is just wrong, considering that they show photos of rolled ice cream, which they also don't serve. Ordering can be done either in person or at a kiosk near the front. There's plenty of seating and while we entered in the late afternoon, there were still several people inside settled down on laptops. Osmanthus Oolong Tea, 16oz ($6.25) - This is a very lightly sweetened beverage with plenty of fragrant flowery flavor emanating from the osmanthus. It's a really clean flavor, not quite grassy, but somewhat green in essence, coming with just a slight astringent bite towards the finish. It's a good, clean iced tea. (4/5) Da Hong Pao Tea Latte ($7.50) - This latte has a nice strong balanced nutty flavor. I saw the barista pour milk into the cup up to maybe 3/4 full, so I'm surprised that the tea flavor is so strong in this drink. The milk adds tons of body but doesn't contribute an overwhelming dairy flavor. They add a lot more sugar syrup into this drink - it's probably equivalent to 75% sweet or so at a boba shop, although it's not harsh at all due to likely being pure cane syrup instead of fructose. (4/5) The tea quality at Chaco is pretty good. It's always nice to see a cafe (rather than a tea shop) with such great variety! The major downside - pricing is really high especially for some of the premium teas. It's like double the price of actual tea shops in Seattle. I guess that's the Seattle Center tax? Bathrooms - Shared with the rest of the building tenants.
