Our hotel was walking distance to most of the landmarks in downtown Seattle. Ironically we did not get a chance to see the nearby neighborhood businesses next to the hotel. After a long day of exploring, an establishment with an inviting lit up spacious patio caught our eye. We decided to check them out. We arrived to Citizen Collective on a Sunday night for cocktails. The cafe is located in a nice area in the Queen Anne neighborhood in downtown Seattle. Parking is accessible on the street. The cafe is apparently known for their brunch, coffee, and cocktails in a cozy chill environment. There is an outdoor beer garden with plenty of sitting areas, yard games, and multiple fire pits. A small homely room with plenty of board games is available for kids as well. We ordered a Chardonnay and a Fever Dream cocktail. Our drinks were refreshing and crisp. They definitely hit the spot after a long day of walking. We had our drinks by the large fire pit which was a great way to unwind. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Citizen Collective. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The s'more's option is a nice touch. The vibe was relaxing and welcoming. Unfortunately we did not see the inside of the cafe where the brunch is served. I've only ever been here for drinks during the fall/winter season. We were able to all sit around the little fire pit order drinks and chill. Brunch is a different beast. It's a beautiful area for brunch (if you don't mind the bees). We opted to sit outside (around 11am/august) which if you don't sit under an awning/umbrella, you'll be sweating up a storm! The table had a QR code where you can scan and order as a table or separate. The drinks and food came out super fast. Mind the sizing of the lattes. I accidentally ordered the smallest and though it was cute, the lavender latte was so good, I wish it was a bigger size. The food came shortly after. Everything on the menu looked absolutely scrumptious and I couldn't decide. But ended up going with the breakfast tacos. After the first taco, I was already full but ate the second shortly after. I honestly come to Citizen for their Korexican Tacos. I've never ordered anything else, but it's because these tacos are so good! I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of fusion food, but I think this dish knocks it out of the park. I also don't have high opinions of many restaurants in the surrounding area, but I would recommend Citizen as a wonderful option. I love that there are various seating areas, which work very well during the summer or when there is nice weather. The only thing that confuses me is the name 'Citizen Collective' encompasses Citizen Cafe & Bar and Citizen Campfire. Stumbled into Citizen for breakfast on the way to the Pop Museum while visiting Seattle. The no frills seating options offer comfy spots to hunker down and order a cup of coffee or a full on meal. Some indoor seating is available upstairs in the building but there were only 3-4 small tables. You order at your table and servers bring your food and drink to your table. I've come to meetups a couple times here now and each time it has been a good experience. I've only been here for drinks out on the yard/patio and have yet to eat here, but the cocktails and beer selections are good, and the staff are great. Of course, There is a fair amount of space despite the amount of people who show up thanks to the weather. When the sun sets and it starts to get cooler, the staff will light the fire pits which helps the fun continue into the night. There are outdoor games and two bathrooms that are fairly well maintained along with a pedal powered sink! Again, I say the yard/patio area is so great. I've yet to have any of the food here but my friend has given a thumbs up to the "Citizen sandwich". Until I have some of the food here, I'll safely rest on how this a great place to come when it's nice out to enjoy the yard. read more

The place is an outdoor restaurant with outdoor lounge seating and campfire pits around. The ambiance was great it was a cute chill spot. You walk up to the bar and order what you want and there is a QR code where you can order. My problem with the place is I opened a tab and they charged me $100. I wasn't informed on this and when I told the bartender she said my money will come back but she kinda of brushed it off. It's not a regular thing they do they said it's something wrong in the system so it happens randomly, which is not good at all. Secondly I ordered a Cuban sandwich and it was OK. The bread was SUPER hard so it's like fighting the bread just to eat the sandwhich. I did try the guacamole and pico which was pretty good as well. I will say the drinks were strong i ordered the spicy margarita. I know there is a limit to how much they can pour but I barely got a quarter of a cup before she filled it with ice. Came here on a whim since it was located near our staycation during our bomb cyclone and it has a really cute indoor/outdoor vibe. Unfortunately it was raining when we went so the indoor seating area is pretty limited. I can see this being a cute hang for happy hours in the summer! We held a singles event for Thursday Dating and it was super fun! We sold out quickly with more than 150 people signed up, and got the majority of the space at Citizen for our event (there was another smaller event going on that had the front area reserved). The staff were immediately helpful and knew what they were doing. Shout out to Garett (sorry if I spelled it wrong) he was a newbie but he knew what he was doing - very helpful to me and the other staff all night. Drinks were flowing and there was a pretty long line for drinks. If we have an event there again, since we sell out every event I would want us to be able to book the whole space (instead of sharing it like we did) and have another bartender or a roving bartender in the farther covered area to encourage chilling in the couch seats. People spent a lot more time in line than we expected, but it's not a bad place to meet someone as a single person. Always a good time at Citizen! We stopped in for brunch on day and was pleasantly surprised with this foodery. The menu is table based and mobile, so you scan the QR code on the table to make an order and they bring it right to you! I had the Cubano which was so perfectly seasoned. The pulled pork was sooo perfectly slow roasted, such an exceptional treat. The side salad was light and gave a good brightness to the seasoning of the sandwich. Beyond the indoor seating which is slightly limited, the outside garden area is also available so, if you go anytime other than the summer, I suggest having jacket JUST IN CASE you need to sit outside! I'll note the food is decent, and service is fast, but not necessarily the most memorable meal. It's a great spot to have local because of its ambiance and convenience. My company held a private party here and this review is for events only. I have not been here before for their regular menu items or dining. This venue has a very large outdoor patio with lots of seating. They also have grills and an outdoor kitchen to prepare food. There were maybe....50 people from my company and this venue had no issues with speed and service. Staff were awesome and food was great! They offered 3 or 4 different plate dishes and 4 or 5 different sandwich/burger options including "Impossible" meat. They had a dedicated bar for our event with lots of different drink options. About 10 taps for beer, hard liquor options, cocktails and mocktails. If you're looking for a venue for a large party, this place can certainly accommodate. read more

Overall, I want to say this is a good place and deserving of a four-star but I definitely think that there are many aspects of this that very well could deserve a fifth... Normally I don't like paying more than a couple bucks for a large cup, unless I can drink it black and enjoy it... I left a little bit wanting more And I will say the bar drink we got was pretty good but still I don't think the raw ingredients are quite to the standard i was hoping for. Strolled by on a Sunday morning on a regular Queen Anne coffee walk. This time we decided to get food instead of coffee. I got the chia pudding with extra strawberries (extra $2). My significant other got the avocado toast with a side egg. You place an order using the QR code at your table and there's a mandatory 20% tip for 2 people. Excited to get the food but was disappointed that the strawberry I bit into was rotten. Then as I looked closer I noticed the rest of the strawberries had small bits of mold. I told the waiter and she brought me a different set but those also didn't fit the standard of something I could get from Trader Joe's so I was left disappointed. Granola tasted like sugar drowning in maple syrup. When I asked my s/o their thoughts on the avocado toast they said it tasted like Costco avocados which is our way of saying it's an avocado but not the highest quality avocado. The bill was $38.99 for chia + egg + avocado toast. To be fair, I travel the world regularly and have exceptionally high standards for food but this is Queen Anne. They have access to all the resources in the world in a high income area, they can do better. read more

First all we loved the outdoor seating that turned out great for our group of four and two dogs. However, I made the mistake of paying my check before getting food, coffee and "service". I would highly recommend waiting until after you get food and service (if any). The "server" showed up to drop off my coffee, and turned around and left before we could say anything, and then a different person walked up and said "eggs and bacon" dropped the plate off and left. Both times no conversation, no good morning nothing. You have to order via app/QR Code. But the bill had a tip request starting at 20%. Why would I tip 20% on nothing? We both decided to go with savory waffles I had the CHORIZO SALSA VERDE with a bloody mary and golden milk and my friend had the APPLE SMOKED BACON with a pineapple mimosa and latte. In the outside area they have everything you need from a variety to hot sauces, water, extra napkins and even take out boxes. Whoever stocked the shelf in the space thought of everything the diners would need. I think the one thing we noticed and took note is they use paper plates which is fine, but we believe the plastic ware wasn't compostable if it was forgive us for not knowing. Also there is only one garbage bin so either everything is compostable or just going in regular waste. We loved our waffles and beverages. We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. My friend and I walked here this morning to have breakfast thinking it would be great based on the reviews. Service was interesting, someone up front yelled out that they had a heated patio and to order from the QR code so we took a seat outside. We were really cold and so were the other two groups (who had started using the seat covers as blankets) so someone went inside and asked for another heater to be put on. The staff turned it on and left and it truly sounded like a jet engine taking off and we all looked at each other rather concerned. Water and silverware and condiments are all self serve from a table and there is no reusable plates or silverware which was a bummer - lots of waste. We ordered a matcha latte, coffee, the huevos rancheros and the avocado toast. The matcha latte was poorly mixed and super gritty. The first sip left matcha powder all between my teeth. The avocado toast was barely toasted, soggy and had very odd pieces of tomato on top. They weren't exactly salsa but they were cold and huge pieces and felt like a very bizarre add?? Neither of us wanted to eat the avocado toast but wanted to ask a waiter for something else because we were very hungry. I walked inside and was told someone would be out in a minute. Nobody ever came by. I decided it wasn't worth waiting for someone and went to check out on my phone. They add an automatic 20% tip (mind you it's all self service) and ask if you'd like to add more to your tip. We left hungry and super unsatisfied by both the food and the service.
