Love this place. A real old fashion luncheonette with a hometown feel. I had the Blue Monkey Pancakes, delicious! Light and fluffy and made with fresh blueberries and bananas. My daughter had the Traditional, scrambled eggs, home fries,avocado and toast. Must have been good, she cleaned her plate for a change. The menu was interesting for breakfast as well as lunch. The best basic breakfast food you can find. Eggs, homefries and pancakes done right. If you only go here once in your life, get the Idaho (a huge plate of hash and yumminess). If you are lucky enough to go back again it's blue monkeys. This place has a long history and a long list of locals that stop in every morning except Sunday (they are still closed on Sunday circa forever). It takes up a coulpe of store fronts. The section where the entrance is is the old part. the dining room to the left was added later (late 90's I think) and decorated in that classic 50's dinning room way. This place was great! Our friends bought a house about a mile from this place and they recommended we all go for brunch. We have since been twice. Their eggs were probably the best eggs I've ever had. They were prepared perfectly. More importantly, they tasted so good. They must just be super fresh. Seriously... they're incredible. I don't know how else to explain it... The rest of the food varied but was largely great. The raisin french toast was a little lackluster in the sense that it was thin (cut as standard toast) but still very tasty. Very home-made. The bacon and homefries came as ordered, and they were fantastic. The other sides were good, and the orange juice was quite refreshing. I highly recommend the place. It's kitschy inside, and the food is outstanding. I will go next time I'm on the island. And stick to the breakfast menu. I've been going here since I was I. Pre school. They have the most delicious food and the staff is always great. They are cash only which is indicated right above the door when you walk in and on the cash registers up front. In 19 years they've barely changed (in a good way) and are always family friendly. Excellent breakfast spot. Although it's very loud, it has a comfortable vibe. Very busy but our food came out hot and fairly quickly. I ordered The Supreme omelette (bacon, onion, swiss cheese) with an English muffin and home fries. Everything was spot on and probably the tastiest breakfast i have had this year. GF had their (homemade) Hash 'n' Eggs which she was very happy with. The service was pleasant, with more than one person checking on us. No complaints here. Oh Glen's. What can I say. Nothing too much I guess. The last time I went to Glen's was about 2 years ago prior to my most recent visit. 2 years ago it wasn't anything great but I figured it was worth another shot. Well... Nothing has changed. I so much wanted to enjoy it. Yeah it's quaint and all. Little dinette, local, been around since the forties, Babylonians love the place but for me it just doesn't cut it. Service was slow, took forever to get milk for our coffees and hot chocolate for my son. Once we got our orders we were very disappointed. I was lucky it i had 4 tiny cut up pieces if tomato in my vegetarian omelet. Come on! The portion of home fries that came with my meal, almost non existent. Two bites and they were gone. My wife's omelet which was supposed to have broccoli in it... Lets just say we never found the broccoli. Thirty bucks later (that's with tip) we were walking out hungry, disappointed and unwilling to come back any time soon. Rating it 2 stars for quaintness. I can't say enough great things about Glen's dinette. When I go there I have a tough time deciding what to get. My favorite at the moment is huevos rancheros! The best I have had anywhere on the island. My other favorite is their root vegetables!! You can get them in a panini or under poached eggs. Decisions decisions. Seems like a typical place that is resting on it's laurels and doesn't try harder anymore. Well put by another Yelper. Went twice in a 1 week span to see if its my imagination. This place was something else at one time but the price and portions are just not what it should be. Example..I wanted potato salad instead of fries. What I got was a small teenie weenie little thing inside one of those cups that hold your soy sauce in. Wtf is that!?!?!? I've only been to glens once and it's a cute little diner. I had pancakes but was a bit rushed when eating them. The waitress was nice, but they seemed like they wanted to turn the table quickly. Good for a quick breakfast, but if you want to sit for a while and eat slowly, you may be a bit rushed. Overall, it was good. read more

Glen's is a Long Island favorite. I have been dining at glens dinette for almost 20 years. Great staff, food and service.

Any time you go to Glen's Dinette you are in for a treat. If you are going for Sunday breakfast, plan to wait a bit to be seated because it is a hot spot. The food is always fresh and made to order. The lunch as well as breakfast menu is pretty extensive. Every thing is always delicious, flavorful and presented well. I don't think it is a place to go with large groups who want to sit together. Parking is a bit tricky too but it is definitely worth it. read more

Cute place, went on a weekday morning so there was no wait for two people. I ordered two scrambled eggs with sausage. The home fries were a little bland but overall was good. Went to glens first time saw a feature on restaurant hunter .had party of 4 was seated quickly in booth in back near Quaker oatmeal picture which was nice I enjoyed the atmosphere.3 stars due to some food and the service the waitress was not very attentive kept chatting with a customer who already paid his bill .had to interrupt her to place the order.the blueberry pancakes where great however my friends did no enjoy the pumpkin buckwheat and the egg whites .the hash browns would be better if they had onions and peppers and more seasoning.main issue though was the waitress never came over to ask how everything was or if you needed more coffee the owner who brought the food to us was very pleasant and caring just wish the others were like her read more

Packed on a Saturday @2:30pm. I was glad when a table opened up a few minutes after we came in. Ok, off to a good start I think to myself. I was very optimistic when I came here. I like going on trips to L.I and of course I love trying out new places. However, I was sadly disappointed to say the least. The corn been hash and eggs were looking pretty good in the menu, so I decided to order them expecting what the menu described it to be. My bf ordered the so called (freshly made) chicken fingers and sweet potato fries. The food came in a timely manner, but my hash was unsatisfying. The hash was pink and mediocre while my bf sweet potatoes came in semi burnt. The edges were turning black and the color was not orange anymore, but was almost brown. The chicken fingers were hard and didn't taste freshly made at all. Maybe they just had a bad day, but my food or the service was nothing great for me to come back here for. read more

The best little dinette we've found. This place brings you back to the 1950's on Long Island. The food is perfect for breakfast, we have never tried other meals (lunch) here but it's the go-to place to ride your bike to on a Sunday morning, and know exactly what you are getting. There is typically always a wait on weekends, but it's not a long wait at all. They usually can get you in within 10-15 minutes. The staff is super friendly & helpful. The eggs are fluffy and delicious, and although I have not had them my husband swears by the pancakes & waffles. Get their famous hash if you are a hash fan. It is unreal, and made fresh there daily. The waitstaff is SO attentive that if you have a cup of coffee 1/2 full, another waitress will fill it for you without even asking. There is a reason they have been in their location for @ 60 years. The local memorabilia on the walls are just one more plus for this dinette. I just love it. The only reason they lost a star is because they are cash only, and my bank is not local so it's an inconvenience, but not a deal breaker by any means. Glen's is A+++++++! read more
